Episode #8489 ~ Brooke doubles down when Thomas pleads his case. Paris offers friendship and advice to a heartbroken Hope.

Provided By Suzanne

Ridge: I thought you said you're gonna give my son a chance.

Brooke: I have no problem with him working here or raising douglas with hope. I just don't want it to go any further.

Ridge: Who said anything about it going further? Nobody.

Brooke: Thomas has always had an unhealthy attraction to hope.

Ridge: Had. Yes. Maybe. That's past tense now.

Brooke: No, ridge, it's still there. I can tell. He may not even know it but he is waiting for an opportunity. And now that hope and liam are separated, I don't want this to be his chance to be with hope.

Hope: Thomas is a very talented designer, and so is zende. Very lucky to have them both on my team.

Paris: Yeah. They both add a different flavor to hope for the future.

Hope: And with what you're bringing to the forrester foundation-- I mean, the two have always gone hand in hand, but you're taking the partnership to the next level.

Paris: I'm just working off of your commitment to social causes, which is very impressive, I must say.

Hope: Honestly, these days, I'm just trying to stay busy.

Paris: I know. Things are difficult for you right now, hope. And I don't wanna pry, but I'm here if you ever need to talk.

Hope: I appreciate that. The separation from liam hasn't been easy.

Bill: [ Laughs ] She said yes?

Wyatt: Yeah. Why do you sound so surprised?

Bill: Did you catch her off guard or put her on the spot? You got her drunk.

Wyatt: It's a marriage proposal, dad. Of course, it was spontaneous.

Bill: Ah. That explains it.

Wyatt: Explains what?

Bill: Well, she didn't have time to think it through.

Wyatt: Oh, my. You know what? Liam, can you help me?

Bill: I mean, does she fully understand what she's signing up for?

Wyatt: Yes. She's very excited about it. Thank you.

Bill: Wow. Well, I will give her credit for courage.

Wyatt: Okay. I'm gonna go home. That's it.

Bill: Okay. Relax. Relax. I'm just busting your chops. I'm happy for you, son.

Liam: I am too, wyatt. I wish you and flo nothing but a lifetime of happiness.

Bill: All this talk about wyatt's engagement can't be easy on you, liam.

Liam: No. Stop it. It's not-- it's not about me. You should be excited without having to worry about my feelings.

Wyatt: Come on, liam. You're my brother. We both can tell that the separation from hope is weighing on you.

Liam: Yeah. You know, it's hard to focus on much else but what are you gonna do? By the way, I really appreciate you letting me crash at your place.

Bill: No. Of course. You stay as long as you need to.

Liam: As long as it doesn't get in the way of you trying to get katie to move back in.

Bill: Don't you worry about my problems. Just focus on your own.

Liam: [ Sighs ] Yeah. Listen, I just have to keep reminding myself that this is only temporary, and somehow I will find my way back to hope. I will.

Hope: Even though liam and i aren't in the best place right now, I still don't wanna dump all my issues on you.

Paris: Oh, please. Helping people is my specialty.

Hope: Well, you do have a very welcoming spirit. I think you certainly went into the right field of work.

Paris: I do miss the one-on-one with people, so please don't feel like you're burdening me with your problems. It helps to open up, but only if you want to. I know you have a lot of friends.

Hope: I consider you one of them.

Paris: Likewise. I just wish there was something I could do. It sounds like something you and liam will work through, but I feel your heartache, hope. And if I could magically make it all disappear, I would.

Ridge: We're doing this again? Didn't we just go through this? All I'm asking you is to please cut thomas a little slack.

Brooke: Oh, god. Ridge.

Ridge: Is that so hard to do?

Brooke: I have. I have. I just don't wanna let my guard down when it comes to hope.

Ridge: Ah, I see.

Thomas: Hey, I don't mean to barge in but I couldn't help overhearing.

Ridge: How long have you been there?

Thomas: Long enough.

Brooke: Thomas, look...

Thomas: No, brooke, it's okay. I heard what you were saying about not trusting me. And I get it. I understand why you'd be protective of hope and why you'd be wary of me. Pain hits fast.

Bill: All right. You're gonna have a big wedding, right? I mean, don't tell me you're gonna elope.

Wyatt: I don't know. We haven't gotten there yet. We're still enjoying the engagement phase.

Bill: All right. Well, I would be honored to be your best man. You don't even have to ask.

Wyatt: Funny. I wasn't planning on it.

Bill: Yes, you were.

Wyatt: Oh.

Bill: And before you tie the knot, we gotta have a boys' night at the house.

Wyatt: Hey, I'm down for that. How's it been living with this guy?

Liam: Yeah, I'd rather be home with my wife, but the accommodations have not been bad.

Bill: Not been bad?

Liam: Yeah.

Bill: You have your own suite. I got those organic bamboo sheets you like put on bed. Tofu in the refrigerator.

Liam: I know. It was very generous of you. It was.

Bill: Do I complain? I mean, yeah, it's not perfect, but I don't complain when you're-- when you're having your-- you know, your nightmares. You walk in your sleep. You're standing over me, staring at me.

Liam: Do I do that?

Bill: And why do i not complain? Because I'm happy to have you at the house, especially with katie and will staying at her place. But I know that eventually I will have my family back, and you will have the same.

Wyatt: I assume you guys are talking.

Liam: Yeah, you know, I go over there to see the kids. I--I've sent her flowers. I did-- I had her favorite meal delivered.

Wyatt: Good.

Bill: Yeah, that's all terrific, liam. But you got--you got-- you gotta raise your game, all right? Hire her favorite singer to serenade her.

Wyatt: That's a good idea.

Bill: You could have ed sheeran parachute onto the property.

Liam: Oh, boy.

Wyatt: Yeah. As long as he doesn't die. How many times have you sheeran-ed katie?

Bill: So many.

Wyatt: [ Laughs ]

Bill: I'm telling you, it'll be spectacular. It'll prove to her that you're willing to pull out all the stops to win her back.

Liam: [ Laughs ] That is a fantastic and creative idea, dad. I'll give you that. I'm not sure it's gonna get hope to forget I slept with steffy.

Bill: [ Sighs ] Okay. Okay. Look, I know this is a hard time for you but I also know that you have a beautiful family and that hope loves you. Do not lose faith. Do not give up.

Hope: It's tough with liam being gone, especially with the kids.

Paris: I could only imagine.

Hope: Yeah, but they-- you know, they still don't fully understand. Beth is still so young and douglas, I mean, he has some idea but I just-- I really don't want it to affect them any more than it has to. You know, I just--I want them to keep feeling safe and loved.

Paris: Well, you and liam are their mom and dad no matter what. I mean, how could they not feel safe and loved?

Hope: Thanks. I think I needed to hear that, you know? As parents, we tend to be really hard on ourselves, and, you know, I just want what's best for my children.

Paris: Well, you're doing an amazing job as a mom. That much I know.

Hope: [ Chuckles ] Well, liam, you know, still is involved in the day-to-day. He--he's always checking in and he comes by the house when he can.

Paris: Plus, you have thomas. You guys co-parent douglas. I'm sure he's there for you too.

Thomas: Look, I understand why you feel how you feel but I will always be there for hope.

Ridge: No. We're not doing that. We're not having this argument again. And you know what? You don't have to defend yourself.

Thomas: I appreciate your support but I understand where brooke's coming from, defending your daughter. I mean, if I was in her position, I'd be doing the same thing. I'd be there for douglas looking after him and defending him, right?

Ridge: Totally agree with you. I'm sorry. There's a missing shipment. I'll deal with it later.

Thomas: No, no, no. Deal with it now.

Ridge: No. I'm not gonna leave you guys here.

Thomas: It's fine.

Ridge: Play nice.

Thomas: [ Sighs ]

Brooke: Your father doesn't understand where I'm coming from.

Thomas: Well, I see why you're uneasy, and I see why my dad wants us to make peace. After everything I did in the past-- things have been in turmoil for a long time and some of that was my fault but I have taken responsibility for what I've done.

Brooke: Thomas, it was one thing after another. And, yes, we were relieved when you recovered from your head injury...

Thomas: But it was all the stuff leading up to that? I get it. But this time is different. I mean, what I went through in the last few months up until me being in the hospital, like that scared me. And it changed my perspective. And I--and I started being grateful. And seeing the people that were there for me-- and you were one of those people. So like I want to repair our relationship, brooke. And I understand why you don't trust me right now but... I hope that maybe I can regain your trust. And shouldn't we at least try to do that? Like for dad's sake, for hope's sake. Can we try to move forward as a family?

If you have postmenopausal

Liam: The fact is hope has every right in the world to be upset with me.

Wyatt: Well, unfortunately, no one's questioning that.

Bill: All right. You messed up, right? That's the bottom line. Do you regret what happened?

Liam: Absolutely yes.

Bill: Okay. Fine. Then just move on, liam. Fight to get hope back. Build trust with her brick by brick.

Liam: I know. It's just a lot to ask for her to get over what I did. Listen, marrying hope, best decision of my life. Being her husband is a privilege, but it's a privilege that I have to earn back because I took it for granted.

Wyatt: Yeah, but you didn't know. You made a mistake.

Liam: Yeah. I know, but that doesn't give me a pass. I absolutely should have known that hope is way too loyal to ever betray me.

Bill: All right. Yeah. Look, now you have a chance to start over, right? So do that. Woo her. Court her. Show her that you can't live without her. Pull out all the stops. You write poems, don't you? You write poems? Of course, you write poems. Write poems. Send flowers. Do everything you can think of.

Liam: Dad. Dad, I'M...

[ Chuckles ] I'm doing all of that. I'm pulling my weight with the kids. I'm trying to show hope how special she is. I'm trying to give her the one thing that she needs, which is... for me to be gone, right? For her to have some space so she can think, so she can process things. Look, I know--I know it's not gonna happen overnight. But I believe in hope and me. I believe in our marriage. I believe that we're gonna get our life back on track. And when that happens, we're gonna be stronger than we ever were before, okay? I promise you, I promise both of you, I'm saying it right now, I'm not giving up on hope.

Paris: Oh, should I not have brought up thomas? I feel like I've done something wrong by mentioning his name.

Hope: No. Don't even worry about it. You have done nothing wrong, paris. Thomas and I just-- we have a complicated past.

Paris: I've heard bits and pieces.

Hope: Yeah, I think everyone has at this point.

[ Chuckles ] But you're right. You know, we work together, and he's making incredible contributions to my line, and we're raising douglas, and I am committed to giving that little boy the healthiest upbringing possible, and so is thomas now.

Ridge: Hey. I'm sorry. Am I interrupting something?

Hope: No. Paris and I were just working and catching up.

Ridge: Oh. 'Cause I thought I heard you mention thomas.

Paris: Yeah. We were just complimenting the work he's been doing for hope for the future.

Hope: Yeah. We both agree that thomas is very talented.

Ridge: Yeah, he is. He's actually better than I was at his age.

Paris: Wow. That's huge props coming from you.

Ridge: Sure is. Well, he works hard, you know? He's grown a lot. And, um... thank you for that second chance, his opportunity. He, uh... he's dedicated to your line, and I think more than anything, he wants you to be happy.

Thomas: I am aware how my actions in the past have affected hope.

Brooke: I'm sure I don't need to remind you.

Thomas: No, but I hope and i have worked really hard to get to a fairly decent place.

Brooke: Yeah. It's one thing to have a working relationship.

Thomas: We also raise douglas together.

Brooke: I do realize that. But it goes no further. Hope is not an option for you. Oh, it was terrible.

All the places

we traveled

all the stories we shared

it seemed to unravel

no way to get back there

lost in an instant

without any warning

mistakes and regrets

I can never forget

if I could turn back

the hands of time

I would change so much more

than history tonight

if you could grant me

a second chance

I'd be the love

that you once know

and I swear

that you'd say I do

Ridge: Hope, I-- I'm really sorry about you and liam.

Hope: Yeah, we're just taking some time apart.

Ridge: That's probably a good idea, him not being in the house. Um... kids pick up on that kind of thing.

Hope: Oh, that's a big reason why we're doing it until we figure everything out. I was actually just telling paris how nice it's been to have work, to keep busy.

Ridge: I get that. Paris, she's doing a good job, right, with the foundation.

Hope: I mean, paris, she's perfect for the position. The entire crew, they're such hard workers. I'm so grateful for them.

Ridge: Thomas is leading the charge. He just-- he wants this to be a success.

Hope: I feel that.

Ridge: He's better. He is. He's better. He's not obsessed with you anymore. I think he still loves you but he only wants what's best for you. I need you to believe that. And I need your mother to believe that too.

Brooke: I'm not trying to be difficult.

Thomas: Never said you were.

Brooke: Like I told your father, I'm proud of the progress you've made.

Thomas: Thank you.

Brooke: And I am impressed the way you stepped up to be a better father to douglas.

Thomas: I love my son. And hope has been amazing for him.

Brooke: Why do you do that?

Thomas: Do what?

Brooke: Why do you bring the conversation back to hope? I wasn't even talking about her. We were talking about you.

Thomas: You don't have to get defensive, okay? I'm just saying that-- like, hope has been... great for douglas. I mean, she's been amazing for me too, so...

Brooke: When you talk like that, thomas, it raises my suspicions.

Thomas: Okay. Look, having reservations is one thing but you don't have to be suspicious of me. I support hope. I support her line. I support her raising douglas as a mother. Why is that weird to you?

Brooke: Because I don't think it stops there.

Thomas: Hope can rely on me to pitch in at hope for the future and to help her with douglas or beth whenever she needs it.

Brooke: I don't want you to get caught up, thomas.

Thomas: I'm not caught up.

Brooke: Hope's ultimate happiness lies with liam. Yes, I am still very angry with him running off and spending the night with steffy, but hope and liam love each other. And even though they're separated right now, they will find their way back to each other. They're going to reunite.

Thomas: Okay. And that would be great. We do differ in our opinions there. I mean, I... [ Chuckles ] I do not think that hope would be fulfilled with liam. Look at how many times he has hurt her. He has hurt my sister. It's like once a womanizer always a womanizer.

Brooke: Stop. God, I see it in your eyes and I hear it in your voice. You may have fooled ridge and everybody else but you don't fool me. You are still obsessed with my daughter.

Thomas: [ Sighs ] Brooke, come on.

Brooke: My god. You can't shake it, can you? What is it? A compulsion? Is hope like a drug to you? I am warning you, thomas. You will never be with my daughter.
