Episode #8017 ~ Wyatt and Hope share a memory from their past; Katie convinces Thorne to allow Bill to stay for dinner.

Provided By Suzanne

Liam: That was nice of them.

[ Sighs ] Do you want some water or some tea? I know it's hard to believe, but... it will get easier. It's just...not a lot of time has passed.

Hope: You think time will help? A millennium could go by, and i would still grieve our daughter. Beth didn't even get to see daylight, and I don't understand how that can happen, because she was fine inside of me.

Liam: Dr. Buckingham even said --

Hope: I know what dr. Buckingham said. I don't care about the medical explanation. I don'T. It doesn't matter now.

Hope: Liam, when I held our daughter in my arms, it just... it feels so unresolved. It's like I... I still feel like she's here, even though I know she's gone.

Liam: I know. Um...so, listen -- so, wyatt called me on my way home, and he and sally were thinking of stopping by. I think it actually might be... kind of good for us.

Emma: I can't imagine what hope is going through. The pain of losing a child?

Wyatt: Yeah -- again.

Emma: "Again"?

Wyatt: Yeah, uh, hope -- hope had a miscarriage a few years back when she and I were married.

Emma: Oh, my god.

Sally: And now, to have another baby delivered stillborn, I mean, it... it's almost too cruel.

Wyatt: It is too cruel. I mean, it's just awful that she has to go through this agony twice, you know? As strong as she is... I don't know. I'm worried about her.

Will: I built the wall to protect villagers.

Bill: That is very cool. And right here, you can -- whoa. It -- it's getting late. We got to call your mom about getting you home.

Will: Already?

Bill: I know. It bums me out, too. We'll do it again real soon. In fact, we'll do it whenever you want. But before we go, I have a very important question for you, and I want you to brutally honest. What'd you think of my base?

Will: I would've used different color blocks.

Bill: What are you talking about? It's gray concrete. It's all about power, strength.

Will: I would've used green -- money.

Bill: You're just the best.

[ Chuckles ] Gonna call your mom, here.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Katie: Hey, uh, sorry. I was just about to call you.

Bill: Yeah, sorry. Just, you know, lost track of time.

Katie: Uh, that's cool. You know what? I'll come get will right now.

Bill: You don't have to come over here. I'll bring him to you.

Katie: Okay, then. I'll -- I'll see you soon.

Thorne: What are you smiling about?

Katie: Oh, you know, bill's just really stepping up as a father. It makes me happy. I'm gonna check on dinner, okay?

Thorne: Okay.

Will: Dad, can I ask you something?

Bill: Of course. You can ask me anything.

Will: Liam's really sad 'cause he and hope lost their baby.

Bill: Yeah. Well, we all are.

Will: What should I do?

Bill: What do you mean, "do"?

Will: Liam's my brother. I want to help. So, do I say that or not even bring it up? I don't want to make him feel worse.

Bill: Um, I'm gonna give you my best advice, all right? You just keep being the same caring and sensitive brother you've always been. And be especially nice to hope. Now, I don't want you to worry. Liam and hope are going through a hard time right now, but they're gonna come through it just fine eventually.

[ Breathes deeply ] I'm so glad you came to see me. That was easily the best part of my day.

Donna: Thanks again, guys, for letting me intrude on your newly wedded bliss.

Katie: Oh, any time. You can stay as long as you want.

Thorne: You're earning your keep by helping out with will, so...

Donna: Ah. As if that's a chore. I mean, we have so much fun together. Where is will, anyway? When I got back from brooke's, you guys were all gone.

Katie: Well, will is spending some time with his father, and we had some errands to run. Did you see hope when you were over at brooke's?

Donna: Uh, only briefly. She excused herself and took a walk. Brooke said that, um, she's been spending most of her time alone.

Thorne: Sounds about right.

Katie: It's so awful. I wish there was something that could make it better.

Hope: I don't know, liam. I'm -- I don't think I'm up for visitors.

Liam: I get it. And I can tell wyatt and sally not to come, if you want, but... I think that we should allow the people who love us -- who are feeling kind of helpless right now, in light of what we're going through -- to be supportive.

Hope: All the support in the world won't bring beth back.

Liam: Hey.

Wyatt: We should probably go before it gets too late, huh?

Emma: Oh, please tell them how sorry I am.

Wyatt: We will. And thank you, by the way.

Sally: For what?

Wyatt: You. Your smile and your warmth. And just being so solidly by my side through this awful situation.

Sally: You can count on me.

Wyatt: Uh, I can drive us. We can pick up your car after.

Sally: I actually have an idea of how to help hope deal with the pain.

Wyatt: Okay. What is it?

Sally: You will see. I'll meet you at the cabin.

Wyatt: Okay.

Donna: I worry about hope getting withdrawn, thinking there's something wrong with her.

Katie: Because she's lost a baby before? Well, we just have to make sure she doesn't go down that road.

Will: Hi, mom!

Katie: Hey, babe! Did you have a good time?

Will: Yeah. Me and dad played games, talked about money, women...

Both: Women?

Will: Well, technically, marcia whitaker's a girl.

Thorne: Oh. Who's marcia whitaker?

Bill: Well, that's will's girlfriend.

Will: She is not!

Bill: What are you talking about? That's the impression I got. Otherwise, why would you care what she thinks?

Katie: Well...

Will: Anyways, dad gave me good advice.

Donna: [ Laughs ]

Katie: I don't want to ask.

Will: It's just between me and him.

Katie: Well, clearly you did have a good time, so why don't you run upstairs and get washed up? We're about to have dinner.

Bill: All right, pal, I'm gonna get going, all right? Okay, I'll see you soon.

Will: Can dad stay for dinner?

Liam: I get wanting to stay in this cabin and never come out again. I mean, believe me, that sounds really good to me, too. But you know we can't do that. We have to find a way --

Hope: I can't act like beth never existed.

Liam: Nobody is asking you to do that. But what I am asking is that you don't fall so far into despair that nobody can reach you. I mean, we have to let the people that love us in. These are our friends. They're our family. That's what they're for. You may find more comfort in it than you think.

[ Knock on door ] Hi.

Wyatt: Hey. Um... uh, sally should be here in a little bit. Um... just wanted to say thanks for letting us stop by. You know, it's completely understandable if you just want to be alone. But...we want you to know that you're not. I mean, there's a ton of people who are just waiting to help you if you need them to, me and sally included. And... whatever you need, you know? Just let us know, okay?

Today is the day and it's gonna be great.

Hope: I know everyone wants to help. I mean, liam's been encouraging me to open up, to let people in, to offer their condolences, but... you know, with all this pain, it just seems pointless.

Wyatt: That's why maybe you should share it.

Hope: I appreciate what you're trying to do, wyatt, but you know... you know there's nothing that anyone can say or do to close the hole in my heart except my baby girl, and she'S... I'm sorry.

Wyatt: No, just don't do that. Please do not apologize for what you're going through.

[ Ringtone chimes ]

Liam: Um, it's your mom. She, um... she wants me to come up to the main house and bring down some plates.

Hope: I'm not hungry.

Liam: Hope, you're gonna have to eat eventually.

[ Sniffles ] I meant what I said. What you're trying to do is very kind... especially after what we've been through.

Wyatt: Yeah, I just, uh... you know, haven't wanted to bring that up.

Hope: Well, it's true. We lost a child, too.

Wyatt: And I feel so bad that you're going through this, like, again.

Hope: [ Sighs ] Yeah, it happened so fast. You know, one minute, everything was normal, everything was fine, and then, suddenly, I was in labor. And I -- I never thought in a million years that I would lose her. Even under those circumstances, I thought she would be born.

Wyatt: I'm so sorry, hope. I --

Hope: No, I know. But what did beth do to deserve death with -- without even a taste of life? I don't understand, wyatt. Why...does this sweet, innocent little life have to be taken away?

Will: Is it okay, mom? Can dad stay for dinner?

Bill: Oh, listen, pal, i really appreciate your inviting me, but I don't want to, uh, you know, impose on your mom.

Katie: You know what? We have plenty of food, if you'd like to join us.

Bill: Seriously, katie, i don't want --

Katie: No, it's -- it's fine. Listen, we'll make it casual. We'll just, uh, sit around the coffee table here.

Bill: You have any feelings on the subject?

Thorne: Hey, it's dinner. I think we can all survive.

Will: Come on, dad, please?

Bill: Well, I don't know. I was gonna go home and have a nice bloody steak and count how much money I made today. But I would much rather stay and have dinner with my favorite guy!

Will: Awesome!

Bill: What do you say to your mom and thorne?

Will: Thanks for letting dad stay.

Katie: Of course.

Bill: And I'm pretty sure i heard your mom tell you to go get washed up, huh?

Will: Right. Back in a sec.

Bill: Yeah.

Thorne: Looks like you and will had a good time.

Bill: Yeah, we had a great time. Uh, thanks, to both of you, for letting me join you for dinner.

Donna: Well, how do you say no to a little boy who doesn't want his dad to leave?

Katie: I love seeing how much he loves you.

Bill: Yeah, I love that kid more than my own life.

Katie: I have no doubt.

The day after chemo shouldn't

mean going back to

Bill: Everything looks wonderful, katie. I haven't forgotten what an incredible cook you are.

Katie: Thanks, bill.

Donna: Pammy wouldn't agree with that assessment.

Katie: Well, that's because she makes that assessment based on the fact that you and brooke are a disaster in the kitchen, and I'm guilty by association.

Donna: Hey!

Thorne: Yeah, I'll vouch for katie's culinary skills.

Katie: Thanks, babe.

Thorne: You bet.

Katie: Of course, I had to step up my game when will was born. You know, um...we don't do this very often, but would you like to say grace?

Will: Sure. Everyone join hands.

Thorne: Okay.

Donna: Okay.

Will: Thank you, god, for this food we're about to eat, for my family, and having dad here for dinner. And please, god, if you can, keep an eye out for beth. She's just a baby, and she didn't get to know her parents, so she's probably feeling lost. If you can, keep an eye out for her. We'd all be so grateful. Amen.

Katie: Amen.

Bill: Amen.

Katie: Well, that was, um... that was really sweet.

Bill: Super proud of you, pal.

Katie: Me too.

Thorne: Well, I think that's unanimous.

Will: I'm just so sad. Hope and liam were gonna have a baby. Everyone was so excited. But now beth's gone. Makes me glad we're all here together.

Katie: Yeah.

[ Door opens ]

Wyatt: Hey. What...?

Sally: Are they here?

Wyatt: Yeah. H-hope's -- hope's in the bedroom, and then, liam went up to the main house and everything, but what are you doing with a dog?

Sally: I thought that he could help. I used to volunteer at a rescue in the valley, so I reached out to them.

Wyatt: Oh, um...

Sally: Animals are healing, and they bring so much joy and unconditional love, which is exactly what hope needs right now. Look at his sweet little face.

Wyatt: I know. Come on, now. Um, I just... look, this is an incredibly sweet gesture, but I just -- i don't know if it's a good idea to give hope a puppy right now. She's really raw.

Sally: Okay. But there are studies that show the benefits of just petting a dog. And look at his face. I mean, you cannot tell me that he's not gonna cheer hope up in some way.

Wyatt: Oh, god, he's so adorable.

Sally: I know. She in her room?

Wyatt: Yeah.

Sally: Okay.

Wyatt: Um --

Sally: I'm gonna go. It'll be okay.

Wyatt: Um...sal-- uh...

[ Knock on door ]

Sally: Hope?

Hope: Hey, sally.

Sally: I'M... so terribly sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how devastated you must be. Which is why I wanted to come by. I wanted to try and do something to...help. So, I... I brought you this little guy. Animals can be so therapeutic. And he is so sweet... and affectionate and... you know, but easygoing and... you know, just needy enough to maybe distract your thoughts from...everything that you're...

Hope: I'm sorry. What is happening? You... a dog -- you got me a dog?

Sally: Yeah. You know, a puppy to -- to love on and to --

Hope: You think that a puppy can replace my child? What is wrong with you?

Sally: No, no, no, no! That is not what I meant --

Hope: You do not understand. I lost my daughter. I lost my child, I lost my baby girl, and you think a puppy -- some damn puppy -- can replace my little girl? Nothing can take away the pain of losing my beth!
