Steffy: Adoption has always been an idea of mine, something that I've -- I've wanted to explore, that I'm dreamt about, and now here you are, telling me that this baby needs a family. This baby needs me.
Taylor: Well, you said you wanted a sister for kelly close in age.
Steffy: [ Sighs ]
Taylor: And we both know how important that kind of relationship is.
Steffy: I could do it, couldn't I? I could give kelly her very own phoebe. Wow.
When you said you needed a favor, I didn't expect this.
Reese: You did a great job, flo. I think taylor bought it.
So why exactly did you need me for this, though? I mean, what's up with the actual mother? Is she some kind of deadbeat or something? She would have scared taylor off?
Reese: Yeah. She would.
Wyatt: Uh, I -- I hope I'm not interrupting.
Liam: No, um... hope is up at the main house right now getting some tlc from her mom and aunt donna.
Wyatt: That's -- that's good.
Liam: Yeah, well, you know the logan women -- they band together in times of... crisis.
Wyatt: Right. I mean, I -- I hear the same thing about spencer men.
[ Knocks on door ]
Bill: Alison, which part of "no interruptions" don't you -- will! What are you doing here?
Will: I asked mom to drop me off. Her and thorne are running errands.
Bill: Oh, hi!
Will: Alison said I could hang out with her if you're too busy.
Bill: No, what are you talking about? I'm never too busy for you. Are you kidding me? I needed a break anyway, so this is perfect. What do you got there?
Will: Origami. I got a book on how to make, like, a zillion different things.
Bill: [ Chuckles ]
Will: It's a pterodactyl. I made it for you.
Bill: No way! This is so -- did you make this out of a $100 bill?
Bill: I am thrilled you enjoy working with cash. That's a very good sign. Now, you know, there's other things you can do with money.
Will: Like, make it.
Will: I folded a bunch for the school fundraiser. Different animals. Mostly cranes.
Bill: All out of $100s?
Will: No, out of dollar bills. And get this -- I sold them for 3 bucks each. Profits galore!
Bill: Oh! Music to my ears. That's my boy right there. Now, fundraisers, they're fine, but if you ever want to make profit for yourself, sell 'em for $5.
Wyatt: So, like, I wanted to bring you flowers. I just -- I kind of thought that was a little weird. Uh, well, I was trying to pick out a card, and they just -- didn't seem like they covered this subject. And I was gonna bring you bourbon, and I thought that was kind of like dad's thing. I'm sorry I came empty-handed.
Liam: I didn't expect anything.
Wyatt: I know, I just -- I mean, you just lost your daughter. I wanted to do something for you.
Liam: You did. You're here. Thank you.
Are you sure you're all right?
I know you say you're not in trouble, but I -- I don't know if I'm buying it.
Reese: I'm just looking at a picture of my daughter. Don't want to screw things up for her, too.
Screw things up how? Reese. This has something to do with the baby, right? It has to.
Steffy: I still can't believe it. I mean, things like this don't just happen. Maybe you're right. Maybe -- maybe it's --
Taylor: It's meant to be. Yes.
Taylor: It's -- it's a miracle, when you think about it. For you and for the memory of phoebe. And kelly to have a sister... if you do this, honey, you'll be changing both of those little girls' lives forever.
Steffy: I know.
Bill: Which one would you sell first?
Will: Neither. They'll both turn a profit. Hold on and re-evaluate next quarter.
Bill: I love that! You are a smart man.
Will: Learned from the best.
Bill: You did learn from the best. You know, I wasn't having a very good day. You turned that around for me. Cheered me right up.
Will: You cheer me up, too.
Bill: What do you mean? You're feeling down?
Will: Yeah. Girl troubles.
Bill: Oh, no, not girl troubles. All right, what do you got? Lay it on me.
Will: There's this girl i like...
Will: But she called me "money bags."
Bill: She called you "money bags?" Well, she paid you the ultimate compliment, will!
Bill: What kind of society do we live in?
Bill: She understands that. She knows that the man...
Will: ...Who dies with the most toys wins.
Bill: Oh! Yes!
Will: It's all about the stuff.
Bill: It is all about the stuff. And the other stuff.
Will: Other stuff?
Bill: The people in your life.
Will: You're talking about girls.
Bill: Oh, I'm definitely talking about girls. Girls are very important. But I'm also talking about the friends, the family, the moms and dads, and the children. Most important are the children.
Liam: I mean, our daughter was.. she was growing, she was thriving. We were ready for her. We named her. We had no reason to think that she wouldn't make it. So why didn't she? Why -- why isn't my daughter alive right now?
Wyatt: I mean, I wish I could tell you.
Liam: I mean, like, you know, I'm not stupid, I get it, medically. I know that things happen, but... why -- why us? Why hope? Why beth? I mean, if there's some lesson that I'm supposed to learn here, I-I'm not ready for it. I don't want to hear it. I just want my daughter.
Okay, you obviously don't want to talk to me about it, but look -- you've always taken such good care of me. You've always been the best tipper at the craps table, and i just -- I want to be able to help you out, too, if I can.
Reese: You have. More than you know. You just keep doing what you're doing. Play mom. You thought I was generous before? You help me pull this off, and you'll see what a big tipper i can be.
Taylor: All right, we need to just take this one step at a time. So, I will call my colleague, and I will get some more information, maybe some medical records, a profile on everything we can find about the biological parents, whatever he has. It's just so easy to get caught up in this idea of a sister for kelly. I know we -- we need to make the most informed decision that we can here.
Steffy: There's someone i need to talk to before I can even consider any of this. Liam.
Taylor: [ Sighs ]
Steffy: I need to make sure he's okay. I don't want to be insensitive. If it's too much, me bringing home a new baby so soon after...
[ Sighs ] As much as I want this for kelly, as much as I want to provide a home for this child who needs it... it can wait. It would have to wait.
To most, he's
Bill: Well, how's it going with your mom? You adjusting okay?
Will: I'm happy for mom. Thorne's a really nice guy. But you know what they say -- nice guys finish last.
Bill: You really do listen to me, don't you?
Will: Every word.
Bill: This is great. Well, uh... okay, look, uh, maybe that's not so great. I mean, you -- you do understand that, uh, a lot of what I say -- well, they're slight exaggerations.
Will: I know.
Bill: You know, money is important, family is more important.
Will: I wish we still were a family. Will we ever be again?
You know, I'm just trying not to be jealous.
I saw the way you were looking at that taylor woman.
Reese: No. Mnh-mnh.
Well, you know, she's very pretty.
Reese: Oh, is she? Oh.
Reese: I couldn't tell with you in the room.
[ Scoffs ] Oh, reese. God, how do you do it? You do it every single time. You get every woman to do exactly what you want them to. I drove all the way out here from vegas to put on this whole show for you, and now you sweet-talked your way into getting taylor to adopt a baby.
Reese: Unh! Unh! Not taylor. Her daughter. And I didn't have to sweet-talk anyone. She wanted to adopt, I have a baby that needs adopting. Win, win.
So, she gets a baby, and then you get...?
Reese: We are doing something good for that child, for taylor, and her daughter.
Well, I guess it doesn't hurt that it'll help our bank accounts, too, though, right?
Reese: As I said, it's a win-win.
Steffy: Thanks for coming.
Liam: Yeah, is -- I mean, is everything okay? Is kelly okay?
Steffy: Yeah, why? Oh, I'm sorry.
Liam: I'm just on edge, you know. I got your text, and immediately I assumed...
Steffy: Yeah, no, I -- I'm sorry, it's -- I understand.
Liam: [ Sighs ]
Steffy: That's actually why i want to talk to you -- to understand your loss, understand your pain. And not try to add to it.
Steffy: Okay, so, um... since we spoke earlier, something's come up. Something I've been wanting to pursue, but not without your support.
Liam: What --
Steffy: We were talking about my idea, about me wanting to adopt...
Liam: Yeah, no, I know, you want -- you want kelly to have a sister, someone she can share her childhood with, like you did with phoebe.
Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, we thought it was gonna be beth, you know. A little sister over at her daddy's house.
[ Sighs ] I know losing beth isn't about me. But I -- I grieve for kelly. She has no idea what she's gonna miss. Unless she doesn't have to.
Liam: If you adopt? Is that what you're...?
Steffy: An opportunity has come up.
Liam: What is it?
Steffy: Out of nowhere, a baby needs a home. And I think I should be the one to give it to her. I've just met this, this incredible woman.
Bill: Okay, listen, um... we're still a family, even though your mom and I are divorced and even though she is with thorne now.
Will: Families spend time together. We don't, just the three of us. Will we ever be like we were? We looked like a family then. Now it just feels fake.
Bill: Fake? Whoa, will. Come on. Do you know I love you?
Bill: Well, both of us always will. You connect your mom and me. We will always be a family. There's nothing fake about that. Do you hear me? Do you understand me?
Will: Yeah. Thanks for being my dad. You've taught me a lot.
Bill: Thanks for being my son. You've taught me more.
[ Baby crying ]
Wow. That was fast. I thought babies were supposed to sleep, like, I don't know, babies? I'll go get her.
[ Cellphone rings ]
Reese: Taylor. Dr. Buckingham?
Taylor: Reese. It's taylor.
Taylor: I wanted to let you know that I've spoken with steffy.
Taylor: Well, she's in shock, same as me.
Reese: Well, that -- it's shocking. She wants to adopt, and then -- poof! A baby appears.
Taylor: Unexpected, to say the least.
Reese: So, uh, is she interested?
Taylor: It feels like it. It's just that there are some logistical questions we have, though.
Reese: Of course. Of course. I'll explain everything to her, but, in the end, the only question that matters is that when steffy sees that adorable little girl for the first time, how could she not take her home with her?
Liam: Oh, wow. This -- this is all moving kind of fast, isn't it?
Steffy: Yeah, yeah, I know, but, I mean, I have been looking into it, reaching out to a few agencies. I just didn't think it was gonna come together like this. But it's good. It's good. The closer in age to kelly, the better.
Liam: Kind of like what beth would have been.
Steffy: I don't want you or hope to think that I'm trying to replace beth, if end up bringing this little girl home.
Liam: No. No. I -- it's just, um... look, is there -- is there something about her? Is there something that makes you think she should be the one?
Steffy: Honestly, I -- i haven't even met her yet. But my mom has a contact who knows the birth mother. I'm not sure how. We're still trying to figure out all the information, but... she says she's beautiful. All I know is that I have an opportunity right now to give kelly a little sister. But now if you or hope object. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Before I consider meeting her and risk falling in love with her.
Liam: [ Sighs ] Wow, um... well, thank you, um... yeah, I mean, I -- it's a little difficult, imagining you...starting a new life with this baby, and all the while, hope and I have an empty crib at home, but... but, I mean, I also know that that's what you've always wanted for kelly, that you want her to have that -- that relationship in her life, the same one that you had with phoebe, and... and just because beth is... just because beth is gone doesn't mean she shouldn't have that, and I don't want to deprive her of that, either.
Steffy: So, are you saying...
Liam: I'm -- I'm okay with it, I am.
Steffy: You are?
Liam: Yeah. Yeah.
Steffy: Oh, thank you.
Liam: But only if it's a good match, okay?
Steffy: Yeah, no, of course. Of course. I still have to meet the birth mom and the baby. Um... would you be willing to meet the baby, too?
Liam: What? Me?
Steffy: No, I mean, I'm gonna be the one adopting the child, only me. But this does affect your daughter, and it feels right to involve you. Would you feel comfortable before I make my final decision?
Liam: [ Sighs ] Um, yeah. Yeah, I think I do want that. Um... I would like to do that for you and kelly. Yes.
Steffy: Thank you. I don't know, liam. My mom -- my mom said something... she said she felt that kelly and this little girl are meant to be sisters, and I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but, honestly, something inside of me is telling me that they're meant to be sisters, too.
