Episode # 7423 ~ Steffy & Thomas fear that RJ will muddle their plan to reunite Brooke & Bill; well-aware that his family doesn't approve, Eric makes a bold move forward with Quinn.

Bill: We don't have time for a big debate, R.J. The jet is waiting.
Brooke: I can't just walk away from my son.
Bill: You're back, right? I mean, you're gonna be here for a while. Isn't that the case, sport?
R.J.: That's the plan.
Bill: Then you can talk about this till the cows come home. You can work through it. You can help him to understand how much we love each other after we're back.
R.J.: Mom. I'm asking you not to go.
Bill: Brooke, we need to leave. Everything is set for our wedding.
R.J.: If you marry Spencer, you will ruin our family. Don't do it, mom.
Steffy: I'm glad R.J.'s home, but I'm -- I'm sure it doesn't compare to how Brooke must be feeling.
Ridge: She is thrilled, to say the least.
Steffy: R.J. can't be happy about his mom marrying Bill.
Ridge: No, completely opposed.
Thomas: How much influence does R.J. have over Brooke?
Ridge: Over Brooke? Quite a bit.
Steffy: Well, R.J. can't interfere. Brooke needs to marry Bill to get those shares.
Thomas: Yeah, and the sooner, the better.
Steffy: Dad, you know that. It's the only way we're gonna force Quinn out. And out of Granddad's life.
Eric: You make walking into a room an adventure.
Quinn: [Laughing] Yeah? How's that?
Eric: Is she gonna be there? What's she gonna be doing? What is she wearing? Is she wearing anything?
Quinn: Aww. And me with all these clothes -- are you disappointed?
Eric: Now, now. Let me see.
Quinn: [Chuckles] I'm gonna take that as a "no."
Quinn: You look handsome.
Eric: Thank you. You look beautiful, as always.
Quinn: Thank you.
Eric: I saw ivy leaving. I talked to her. She said you were working together very well.
Quinn: Yeah! We're getting our groove back. Ivy and I understand each other.
Eric: Good. I'm glad to hear that.
Eric: No judgment...
Quinn: No. She just wants you to be happy.
Eric: I wish the rest of my family felt like that.
Quinn: I'm so sorry that there's so much turmoil between you and your family.
Eric: Don't be. Not your fault.
Quinn: But it is! They'd be happy if you were with anyone else but me.
Eric: They don't get to choose.
Quinn: Why can't everyone just let us be? Or get to know who we are together before they make all of these crazy assumptions? No, no, no. Don't, don't -- don't answer that. I -- I know the answer. It's because... it's because of me, the evil, dreaded Quinn. [Sighs] Steffy is never going to accept us. She's never gonna stop until she figures out a way to tear us apart.
Eric: That's not gonna happen, I promise you that.
Steffy: What's going on? There's something you're not telling us.
Ridge: Why would you say that?
Steffy: I know you, dad. R.J.'s getting into Brooke's head, isn't he?
Ridge: He's her son. His feelings matter, that's all.
Steffy: What exactly did he say?
Ridge: He -- he said that Brooke marrying Bill is ridiculous, which is true. And he said that Bill is an idiot and a self-absorbed clown. That's true. And he just doesn't want this wedding to happen, and... he may have pitched the idea of his parents getting back together.
Thomas: Oh, well. That makes sense.
Steffy: Well, that's impossible because Brooke has to marry Bill.
Thomas: We're so close to getting control of the company. We have to have those shares.
Steffy: Yeah, you got to talk to R.J. You can't let him interfere with this wedding.
Brooke: R.J., there's a lot you don't understand.
R.J.: I understand enough. Okay? He married your sister. I mean, they had a kid together. Why's he coming onto you in the first place?
Bill: Your mother and I have a long, complicated story, which we will walk you through when we get back.
R.J.: Yeah, no disrespect, but I don't want to hear anything from you.
Bill: Respect is a something you're gonna have to learn a little something about. In the meantime, I'm in the picture, and I'm not going anywhere.
R.J.: Listen, mom. I know you convinced yourself that you have feelings for him, but who you really love is dad. That's never going to change. You guys always find your way back together. And what I saw in dad's office, I can tell you guys are halfway there. Call it off, Mom. You cannot marry this guy.
Bill: We have to go, Brooke. The jet's waiting.
Eric: So, is this enough?
Quinn: What? This? The happiness that you've brought into my life? Yes, it's -- it's more than enough. I -- you have me wanting for nothing.
Eric: There must be something.
Quinn: Your family's acceptance would be nice. I mean, this -- this ring symbolizes something so beautiful and so good. It should be celebrated. I don't understand why they can't see that.
Eric: Yeah. I'm tired of fighting with my family. I've talked myself blue in the face trying to convince them that you're -- you're good for me, you know? Are you -- are you going anywhere?
Quinn: Where, tonight?
Eric: No, ever. I mean, are you planning on leaving me anytime?
Quinn: [Laughs] You're gonna have to crowbar me out of your arms.
Eric: Good. Then let's take action.
Eric: You're my future. Quinn, you're my future. I'm convinced of that. So let's get it started.
Thomas: How much does R.J. know about what we're doing?
Ridge: Nothing, just that his mother's gonna marry Bill.
Steffy: What if we tell him about the takeover plan and that we're just trying to save Granddad and the company from Quinn?
Ridge: No, I -- no, I don't think he needs to know any of that. Little kid's walked into too much already.
Thomas: You were happy to see him, though, right?
Ridge: Yeah, I was happy to see him. I shouldn't call him a little kid, either. Everyone grows up so fast. I hate it. He's all right, you know? He's sharp. He sees Bill Spencer exactly for what he is, and he doesn't want him marrying his mother any more than I do.
Steffy: Please don't tell me you're letting R.J. get to you about Brooke.
Bill: Look, uh... we understand that this is a lot for you to absorb. Things have changed quite a bit since you've been gone, and we'll walk you through it. All of us. In fact, we'll call a family meeting, and you can listen to everyone's point of view. After we get back.
R.J.: You're not my family, okay, and you never will be. You're not marrying my mom.
Bill: Your mom and I love each other. We've waited a long time to get together.
R.J.: And I waited a long time to see my mom, too. To see my parents get back together. We are the family. Tell him, Mom. Tell Spencer the wedding's off.
Brooke: Honey. I appreciate your honesty, and I hear you, and I will address your concerns, but first, I need to talk to Bill alone.
R.J.: [Sighs] Okay.
Brooke: Give me a hug. Part of being a mom. I get hugs. [Giggles] I'm glad you're home.
R.J.: Yeah. Me, too.
Brooke: So, we'll talk in a bit?
Bill: Maybe I should have asked him to call me "Dad."
Bill: All right, come here. Look at me. This is our time. This is what we've waited so long for, and it's finally here, Brooke. We can't miss it. We deserve this. Now, the jet is loaded and ready. Let's go get our life.
Eric: I've had this wonderful life, unbelievable success, extraordinary success with an extraordinary partner all these years. I'm proud to be the head of a wonderful family. You know, there's conventional wisdom that, at one point, you have to step back and you sort of just get out of the way and hand the reigns over to somebody else, and uh, walk away into the sunset. Sort of a graceful exit, you know? And I was prepared to do that, until you knocked at my door. You turned my life upside-down. You brought things to me I didn't know I was missing, and you re-sparked my ambition. And several other things, too.
Quinn: Well, that was my pleasure.
Eric: There's so much more life to live. I'm not gonna stop now. Why would I stop now?
Quinn: What are you saying?
Eric: Well, I don't see the value in some big long, drawn-out engagement. Let's get going. Come on. Let's get started. Let's get married right now.
Steffy: Just tell me you're not letting our plan fall apart, that you're not gonna let R.J. Influence you back with Brooke.
Ridge: I'm being protective of her in the same way I protect you and anyone else that I care about. And Brooke deserves better than Spencer, that's all.
Thomas: "Better" being you?
Ridge: That's --
Steffy: No, we can't -- stop, stop. We can't -- we can't get distracted. We need those shares. How many times have I told that? We need to think about the future of our family, and grandfather's well-being. You need to be here, present, with me. You got to laser-focused and not thinking about Brooke. I mean, really. Come on.
R.J.: Hey, guys.
Thomas: What's up, buddy? Come here.
Thomas: It's been a minute. Come here.
Steffy: Look at you! How are you? Where have you been?
R.J.: Spencer's office.
Ridge: Did you see him?
R.J.: Yeah. Told him to forget about it. He's not marrying my mom. I mean, come on. Bill Spencer? That's ridiculous, right?
Ridge: It is ridiculous, but it's a little more complicated than that.
R.J.: How is it complicated? I mean, the guy's a jerk.
Ridge: No argument here.
Steffy: Was Brooke there with Bill?
Steffy: What's going on? Are they still heading off to get married?
Brooke: I'm excited to have my son back home.
Bill: Of course, you are.
Brooke: I really missed him. He stays up at school between terms, sometimes travels with his friends, but he's always texting us, telling us he's having a fabulous time. But I know why he didn't want to come home. He didn't want to see his father married to another woman and see his family splintered. I just want to spend some time with him. And I don't want him going back up to school angry with me.
Bill: I get that. You'll have plenty of time to soothe the waters after we get back. We have some plans here, Brooke. We're leaving to get married.
Brooke: He wants his family together, his mother and father reunited.
Bill: [Sighs] Understandable. But it's not going to happen. And you need to tell him that. Gently. I mean, eventually he's going to have to accept it, so you might as well give him a head start.
Brooke: I can't.
Bill: Can't what?
Brooke: Bill. I just need a little time.
Quinn: You're serious? You want to get married right away?
Eric: Nobody's getting any younger, especially me. And I'm tired of waiting for my family's approval. I'm not gonna wait any longer.
Quinn: Y-you say that, but I know how much your family means to you.
Eric: Yeah, they do, but they're not obligated to approve of any of my choices, and I'm not obligated to wait for them to approve of that. I want you.
Quinn: Well, I feel the same way.
Eric: Well, then, let's do it. Come on. Let's start our lives together. What are we waiting for? Let's get married right away.
Quinn: [Laughs] I -- I say yes! Yes! Yes! Yes, I will marry you right away!
Eric: Okay, good. Oh, good.
Steffy: Hey, did you, uh... did you see anything that looked like Bill and Brooke were leaving today?
R.J.: He thought they were.
Thomas: But you changed Brooke's mind?
R.J.: I think so.
Steffy: Wait, Brooke told Bill they're not getting married?
R.J.: They asked me to leave so they could talk, but that's what I'm hoping.
Steffy: No, no. She wouldn't -- she wouldn't do that.
R.J.: Wait, wait, what do you mean? Why not?
Ridge: Why not? Well, like I said, son, it's complicated.
Steffy: Brooke made a promise. She won't go back on her word.
Bill: Take all the time you need. After we're married. R.J. Will still be here.
Brooke: He's been home all of five minutes. I can't just go hop on a plane.
Bill: Okay, uh... here's a compromise. We will delay the honeymoon. We'll get married, and be back in a couple of days.
Brooke: You heard him, Bill. He hates the idea of us getting married.
Bill: Well, of course he does! You're his mother! The only person he wants to see you with is Ridge! But you can't let a teenager dictate whether or not we get married, Brooke.
Brooke: No, but I can hear him, I can listen to his concerns. Show him how much I love him. Look, I know this isn't something that you want to hear, but R.J. Needs me right now.
Bill: And you can be there for him. Just not right this second. He's been gone for how long? Suddenly, he shows up, and everything comes to a screeching halt?
Brooke: He's a happy-go-lucky kid. For him to react this way tells me how upset he really is. His feelings need to be addressed.
Bill: Then what?
Brooke: "Then what?" [Scoffs] I love you. I'm committed to you.
Bill: I'm talking about what R.J. said. About you and Ridge. Is that just a pipe dream? I mean, whatever it is that he walked in on, whatever he saw going on between the two of you... something you want to tell me, Brooke?
Brooke: What are you asking?
Bill: You know exactly what I'm asking, so don't do that. You say you're committed to me.
Brooke: I am.
Bill: 100%. No hesitation. No looking back with longing or regret. You marry me, free and clear of the past. Those are my conditions. I'm not accepting anything less. So if you're holding on to any lingering feelings for Ridge... you need to own that, Brooke, and you need to own it now.
Brooke: No. None. I want you as my husband. Thank you. Thanks for understanding. Now I'm gonna spend a little time with R.J. but just know that I am committed to you. And I do love you. So very much.
Bill: I love you, too.
