Caroline: I know that you don't want to hear this, but Thomas is right.

Ridge: Wait, wait. What are you saying? We decided. We told everyone that he's my kid.

Caroline: Right. Because we thought that we were doing the right thing. But we weren't. And it's time to admit that. And it's time to just tell everybody that Thomas is Douglas' father.

Brooke: Hope says hello.

Katie: Oh, I've been meaning to call her. I'm sure she has a lot to say about Wyatt and Steffy's marriage.

Brooke: Mm, we didn't get into that topic. I don't think she wants to be choosing sides.

Katie: That's smart. Bill certainly has.

Brooke: Chosen sides?

Katie: Yes. He made it very clear that Liam is to back off. Steffy and Wyatt made a commitment to each other and that's that. We have to respect it. Yeah, I'm proud of him. You know, he stood up for his son, he stood up for their marriage. And it just goes to show how he feels about marriage. And his commitment to me.

Liam: I wish you all would think for just a second about the difference it would make if we took a portion of our profits and gave it to people who would need it most. I mean, there are so many charities that make us look --

Wyatt: Give a portion of your personal paycheck to whoever you want. Just leave the family company out of it.

Liam: I'm talking about profits, Wyatt. It won't affect how much you earn.

Wyatt: It'll have a huge effect on how much we're all worth. But I don't think Dad's gonna want to have that conversation with Will, going, "You know, sorry, bud. We used to have this thriving family company once, but one day we thought profits just weren't necessary."

Liam: Oh, come on.

Wyatt: And I know Steffy and I are not gonna want to have that conversation with our kids, either. Right? I mean, this foundation idea, it's -- it's kind of crazy.

Steffy: Let's not call it crazy. I think it's a worthy idea, wanting to do something good.

Liam: I know, Wyatt, it's not your comfort zone, but thinking about others would be really good for the company.

Bill: He is thinking about others. Will. His future children. Your future children. All the employees worldwide, and their families, that count on us to make a profit, not give it away. Spencer Publications is a business first and foremost.

Brooke: It's good to hear you talk about Bill like that. Trusting in your marriage again.

Katie: Yeah, I'm trying. Though he doesn't make it easy.

Brooke: What do you mean?

Katie: Well [Sighs] I guess I'm just a little upset still about what happened with Douglas. The fact that I told him about that and he ran to you with it. And I know he had his reasons, but I'm still trying to put it behind me.

Brooke: Yeah, I-I can't believe that Ridge and Caroline were keeping something like that from Thomas. Denying him of his own son.

Katie: Yeah. It's not right. But at least it's out in the open now, and they're dealing with it.

Brooke: Well, not really. They're still hiding it. Ridge is still pretending to be his father.

Katie: Yeah, but that's not gonna last. I mean, Thomas clearly cares about Caroline. They've had a connection since they first met. And now he knows that he's the father of her child. Only makes sense that they'd end up together.

Ridge: This isn't happening.

Caroline: Ridge...

Thomas: Dad, look at her. Look at what this secret is doing to your wife.

Ridge: We can still do this. Please don't. Don't give up on our family.

Wyatt: Well, I hate to see you go, Liam...

Bill: All right. Liam is not leaving Spencer. Son... [Sighs] Y-You want to start a foundation, that's, uh, your decision. But you'll do it on your own time. That's evenings and weekends. 9:00 to 5:00, I need you here. I need both of you. I am relying on you to make sure Spencer stays on top.

[Telephone beeps]

Bill: Yeah? I'll be right there. Let's remember, gentlemen, it is all about the dollar. Bill. Steffy.

Wyatt: I was joking about the leaving.

Liam: I know.

Wyatt: I just -- I want us to... I want us to get along and work well together.

Liam: I know, dude. I do, too. I just -- this is very -- This is very new to me, okay?

Wyatt: I know. And we'll figure it out. I appreciate you making the effort -- accepting me, accepting our marriage. And, look, together, we'll deal with all of it.

Caroline: This has gone on long enough.

Ridge: What has, our family?

Caroline: No. No, we are still a family. You're my husband. And you love and -- and care for my son. But we -- We have to acknowledge his father.

Ridge: We did acknowledge him, the three of us, in private.

Caroline: Yeah, but, baby, it's not just the three of us now, is it? It's Brooke and -- and Katie and my uncle. [Sniffles] It's too many people. But we can -- we can get in front of it. We can control how it gets out. It doesn't have to be this scandal. It doesn't have to be some -- some shameful secret that -- that we're trying to cover up. I wish with -- with everything in me that Douglas was yours. I -- I do. But he's not. We have to give Thomas his son.

Katie: Maybe you should talk to Ridge about it.

Brooke: I am not telling Ridge that his wife would be better off with his son.

Katie: I'm guessing that's how he already feels. Maybe he's just waiting for the voice of reason.

Brooke: Me?

Katie: Well, he respects you. You can help him see the truth. Speaking of truth, I've been giving you every opportunity to fess up.

Brooke: Fess up? About what?

Katie: Rick says you're seeing someone. And it doesn't really take a genius to figure out who. But I'd like to hear it from you. And don't even think about lying to me.

Wyatt: Yeah, yeah. No, I'll -- I'll -- I'll be right there. Okay. Bye. Meeting. Um...You want to stick around?

Steffy: Yeah.

Wyatt: It shouldn't take very long. I mean, I'll be ready to go home.

Steffy: Yeah, that's fine. That's fine. Bye.

Wyatt: See you in a bit.

Liam: [Sighs] Wow. [Chuckles] I'm not giving up on this foundation thing. Maybe it won't happen at Spencer Publications, but... [Sighs] I need to do it. I need to start one. I have to.

Steffy: You sure you have time for all that?

Liam: Do I have time? Honey, I'm made of time.

Steffy: [Chuckles]

Liam: I don't know. I just have to sink my teeth into something all-consuming. You know, take my mind off... Maybe if I start the foundation, if I focus on something positive, it'll help me stop obsessing over... this. I need a distraction until you're ready.

Steffy: Ready?

Liam: For us.

Steffy: I'm married.

Liam: You're married. I know. I know. And I will respect that. And I'll wait. And in the meantime, I'll throw myself into the foundation. Hey, I -- [Scoffs] I might as well make a difference in somebody's life, right? Until you let me make a difference in yours.

Ridge: You got to be exhausted. So many sleepless nights.

Caroline: Yeah, but --

Ridge: You're not thinking straight.

Caroline: [Crying] I am so exhausted.

Ridge: I know.

Caroline: I'm so exhausted.

Ridge: Okay. It's okay. But it's not by motherhood, it's -- it's by lying.

Thomas: Don't do this to your wife.

Ridge: Don't tell me about what I'm doing to my wife. Not you. We're fine, hey? The three of us, we have an understanding.

Thomas: Hey, I'm not -- I'm not asking you to give Douglas up, or -- or to love him any less. I just want to publicly call him my son.

Caroline: Baby, please. Listen to him. Listen to what he's -- he's asking. He is the father. And -- and it is gonna come out. It is. It's already starting to. But -- but we can control it. Why not just call it what it is? Douglas has a mother, a father, and a wonderful stepfather. And we can all be in his life. We will be. But just not the way that we have been doing it. Because I can't. I can't live with the lie anymore.

Brooke: [Sighs] Katie, look...

Katie: It's Ridge, isn't it? I mean, i-it only makes sense. I mean, you are, after all, his destiny.

Brooke: No. It isn't Ridge.

Katie: Oh. Well, that's...surprising.

Brooke: Ridge has always been very important to me, but that was in the past.

Katie: So... Who is it, then? I mean, you are seeing someone, right?

Brooke: [Scoffs]

Katie: But you don't want to tell me who it is? It's Bill.

Liam: [Sighs] I should have known my dad would say no. I mean, isn't there more to life than money?

Steffy: Your generosity. Add it to the list of many things you've done that impress me.

Liam: Not doing to impress you, believe it or not.

Steffy: Do you mean it? You'll wait for me?

Liam: I won't have to wait long. 'Cause you want me just as much as I want you.

Steffy: Liam?

Liam: Hmm?

Steffy: I thought I lost you for a second.

Liam: Uh... Sorr-- Yeah. Sorry. Um, what -- what were you -- what -- what were you saying?

Steffy: I was saying how impressed I am with you.

Liam: Hey, um... Steffy...

Steffy: What?

Wyatt: Hey. All done. You ready? Time to go home.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah.

Ridge: My wife. Together, we can do anything. You just got to believe in me.

Caroline: I know that you're just trying to protect our family. And I appreciate that. But it's not working. And I can't lie anymore. It's not fair to Douglas. Or Thomas.

Ridge: Thomas is right here. He gets to hold the baby, play with him whenever he wants. That's not enough?

Caroline: It's tearing me apart. And it's -- it is not just this secret. It's -- It's your anger. You're still so hurt about what happened that night that you feel like if we just lie about Douglas, then it goes away. But it doesn't, because it happened. It happened. You broke up with me. And I took pills. And I drank.

Ridge: And he took advantage of you.

Caroline: He didn't take advantage of me! I keep trying to tell you that, but you don't want to hear me.

Ridge: Caroline --

Caroline: It felt -- it felt like that at first. And that night should have never happened. But I was devastated. And I needed someone to be there for me, and Thomas was, and --

Ridge: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't do that. What are you saying to me right now?

Caroline: I'm saying I love you so much. And I know that -- that you're just trying to protect Douglas and me, but you don't have to. Not from Thomas. And I think if we all just accept the truth about what happened that night, then maybe you can just let go of your anger towards your son. And the sooner that we admit that -- that he's Douglas' father, the better for all of us, because I am telling you, I can't live like this anymore. I can't lie anymore. How is that any way to raise a child, with your anger and my stress? I can't...

Ridge: Is that why you questioned me from the very beginning? About my morality, about what I wanted to do? I just wasn't listening, huh? What did you say earlier, "The great and powerful Ridge"? I was pushing on. I just, uh...was pushing on. And I was angry with my son, because I-I didn't know what this night really was until just now. I just wanted to give you the world, you know.

Caroline: This can't go on. For all of our sakes. Especially Douglas.

[Douglas fussing]

Ridge: Hey. It's okay. Don't. No, no, no, no, no. Shhh. Don't cry. It's okay. Okay. It's okay.

[Douglas cries]

Ridge: Oh, shhhh. It's all right. Hey. I'm not your dad. I called you son. But I'm not gonna do that anymore. Bye.

Katie: You know, I-I never wanted to drink before. That's why this is so confusing. Because I have this little voice in my head, and I can't shut it up. And it says, "Don't trust her." And the only way I can quiet it is by having a drink. And I don't understand why it hasn't gone away. I mean, if my husband is faithful to me and my sister respects my marriage, then why do I still want a drink? Maybe I should listen carefully, because right now it's telling me that my sister has not given up.

Brooke: Katie --

Katie: Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me who you're seeing.

Brooke: That little voice, your intuition about me telling you to drink, that is your disease.

Katie: No, no, no. I'm not like you.

Brooke: [Sighs]

Katie: I drink because I have a feeling that the people who care about me are betraying me. So give me a reason not to reach for that bottle. Tell me that nothing's going on between you and my husband.

Brooke: No.

Katie: Has he approached you? Has he suggested anything... inappropriate? Has he kissed you? Has he touched you? Have his lips touched yours? I want the truth. You're gonna give it to me. Tell me. Now.
