Quinn: What? You said it yourself.
Deacon: Murder? Never!
Quinn: Didn't you say, "You'll probably have to kill him"?
Deacon: Look, that -- that may be what you heard me say, but --
Liam: I forgot lemons. I-I thought there were some in the kitchen, but there weren't. They're right here.
Deacon: What I meant was that you need to create a trap door for yourself so that you could escape from this mess.
Quinn: Look at you. You can't help yourself, can you?
Quinn: I mean, I try to keep my distance, but you -- you keep looking out for me.
Deacon: Look, the doctor says that he may never get his memory back.
Quinn: Yes, but you also said that he's probably gonna get recognized by somebody that I can't trust and -- and -- and I can't control. So, I'm just -- you know, just trying to think about this logically -- you know, the facts, unclouded by emotion. And I don't see that we have any other choice.
Steffy: Tulips. That would be seasonal. Blue for a boy.
Wyatt: [Chuckles] I was basically raised by wolves, remember? I don't know the first thing about baby gifts.
Steffy: My dad and Caroline are gonna love them, I promise.
Wyatt: All right. Well --
[Cell phone rings]
Wyatt: Oh. I think my dad gets lonely without having Liam to bark at.
Wyatt: [Clears throat] Hello, loins to which I am the fruit.
Bill: What did I tell you?
Wyatt: Not to answer the phone that way?
Bill: When I saw you the other day, what did I say?
Wyatt: Stop doing that with my hair?
Bill: Did I not tell you to come by my office?
Wyatt: Yes, but you weren't in it, so...
Bill: Well, I am now.
Wyatt: Okay. Fine. I'll be right there.
Steffy: What's with Bill's hair?
Wyatt: Uh, it's noth-- he -- he wants to see me.
Steffy: Okay. Did it sound good or bad?
Wyatt: When does my dad not sound like he wants to kick someone's ass?
Steffy: True. But why is he aiming for yours?
Wyatt: I don't know. Maybe he's kicking himself for hiring the wrong son.
Steffy: Bill could be in a bad way over there. He never let on how much Liam was handling till now. And I think it was a little desperate having Brooke handle "Eye on Fashion." That idea sank like a stone.
Wyatt: Okay, discussing this situation with my current employer is probably not a good idea.
Steffy: Hey, hey. I am gonna support you either way.
Steffy: Do you know what you're gonna say if he makes an offer?
Wyatt: I don't know. I could say "Yes." I could say "shove it" for not giving me the opportunity sooner.
Thomas: Your mom still works here, right? What do I have to do to get her to call me back?
Wyatt: You know, your guess is as good as mine.
Steffy: Let me know how it goes.
Wyatt: I'll see you later. [Chuckles]
Thomas: [Chuckles] [Chuckles]
Steffy: If Quinn's not returning your calls, try harder.
Thomas: Oh. You're not exactly walking on air since becoming somebody's fiancée again, are you?
Steffy: Maybe I feel like somebody's widow.
Deacon: I-I'm sorry. Did you say "We"? Because I-I didn't think there was a "we." Now, suddenly, there's a "we."
Quinn: I'm just remembering certain things that you said you wanted.
Deacon: I'm not opposed to a "we," not at all. But not if it means I have to be a part of something --
Liam: Hey, uh, Jim?
Deacon: Uh, good memory.
Liam: Yeah, well, I'm working on it. Are you, uh -- are you staying for dinner?
Quinn: Um, unfortunately, he has to go.
Deacon: Yeah. You know what? It's been a long day. Your mom's right. Your mom. [Chuckles] Idiot. Your wife. Your wife. I'm so worn out I don't even know what I'm saying. Sorry.
Liam: That's no problem. Well, next time, then.
Deacon: Sorry. It was a slip of the tongue.
Quinn: This was the place that I was supposed to start my life over without you.
Deacon: I'm sorry. It was an accident. You saw how he handled it. He just shrugged it off.
Quinn: Do you know that he sits in that room all day long and goes over every single word I have ever said? He's on the internet looking things up. You owe me a happy ending, and you're gonna give me one.
Bill: Oh, there you are. Glad you could make it.
Wyatt: I would have come tomorrow without being summoned.
Bill: I was thinking about you tonight. How are things going with Steffy?
Wyatt: She's still amazing, and we're still engaged.
Bill: That was a crazy-fast courtship, huh?
Wyatt: It's crazy that it's working out so well.
Bill: You still enjoying working over at Forrester?
Wyatt: It's been good to me.
Bill: Because you better get out while the getting's good. You marry Steffy while she's the boss, and you will be designated toy poodle at Forrester like that.
Wyatt: [Scoffs] Is that what Liam was?
Bill: What are you doing way over there? Are -- are you here with me? You're poised for flight.
Wyatt: I-I don't know. Normally when you ask to talk to me, it doesn't take very long. So...
Bill: I imagine you think I favored Liam with certain advantages you didn't get.
Wyatt: No. Why would -- why would you think that?
Bill: Because it's true. But it wasn't a matter of who Daddy liked best. Liam needed more from me.
Wyatt: More? How much more? Did he ever tell you "No" and say, "No, that's enough, Dad. I don't need anymore. I'm good"?
Bill: I'm Liam's only living parent, Wyatt. You had Quinn. As nuts as she is, and she is, she started you off early on a career where you had significant success, all right? You came into the world understanding discipline. Liam...[Sighs] Waivers.
Wyatt: I'm not sure that's fair to say.
Bill: Well, look at how he's run his life so far. "[Mockingly] I want Hope. I want Steffy. I want Hope. I want Steffy. I want Ivy. I want Steffy. I want Ivy. I just can't make up my mind!"
Wyatt: Well, you could say the same thing about me, Dad.
Bill: No. No. You are committed. You are packing a big shiny rock on a ring, and you're not afraid to use it. Hope, Ivy, Steffy -- those weren't decisions you couldn't make. You are committed to a life of a certain shape, a certain trajectory. And you just need a quality woman to complete it. I'm that way, too. I have a future in my head -- this -- this desk, this building, this empire and its global outreach -- a vision that all I have created and a son who sees it and appreciates it and wants to carry on my name, our name. Liam clearly is not that son. Are you?
Thomas: Have you figured it out yet that you have to break it off with Wyatt?
Steffy: You seem to think it's important to me that you like him. It's not.
Thomas: Does he know that he's basically the ledge that you're clinging to by your fingertips?
Steffy: [Sighs] Okay, Wyatt knows himself. And he made an agreement not to make me unhappy.
Thomas: Uh, excuse me if that sounds pitiful.
Steffy: Okay, [Sighs] I don't have to discuss everything with Wyatt.
Thomas: Like Liam, for instance? That you can't let him go?
Steffy: I just need to know that Liam is alive and that he's okay. That's what I can't let go of.
Deacon: I've been to prison, Quinn. That was my life for too long. Frankly, you'd fit right in. Hell, you'd probably wind up running the place. But the thing is, you'd wind up being a beast in a cage.
Quinn: Nobody's committing a crime.
Quinn: Mnh-mnh. Tragic accident. With your help.
Deacon: You listen to me very carefully. I will go to Bill Spencer, and I will tell him everything before I'm a part of that.
Quinn: No, Deacon. No, you won't.
Deacon: Why? Liam is -- is messed up medically and every other way. I mean, do you really want that on your conscience? Just take the kid to Bill. Let his millions try and fix him, if that's even possible.
Quinn: Yeah, what's gonna happen to me then? Huh? What about Wyatt?
Deacon: Throw yourself on Bill's mercy. I mean, look, the guy -- the guy thinks you're deranged, not dangerous, and Wyatt will be just fine, all right? Liam doesn't even remember Steffy. Hell, that -- that romance -- it's -- it's deader than yours and mine.
Quinn: I never liked being married. I hated sharing half the bed. Bathroom was always a disgusting mess. I ended our marriage because our marriage ended our romance. Or are you telling me there's not a shred of feeling left?
Wyatt: What would you want me to do?
Bill: Shadow me half the day. The other half, learn the business. Pick Katie's brain when you can.
Wyatt: Uh, and what do you propose to pay me to treat me as badly as Jarrett?
Bill: What's your salary at that gown farm?
Wyatt: [Chuckles] [Clears throat] Really? [Chuckles] I'm gonna need that in a contract. Because if you fire me for not being Liam, I just want to know that I'm gonna be walking away with that. And while we're at it, um, there are some things that a son can't unhear when coming from his own father, words that you used to describe me to my mom -- "impulsive," "reckless," "problematic," and then that was my favorite, which is "not as smart" as my brother, all because of my mother's genes. And yet, now here you are offering me a job and wanting to groom me and saying now I'm disciplined. And I just want to know that you didn't just say those things to offend my mother or if you actually meant them but you're stuck. And how can I be sure?
Bill: Two-part answer. One, I'm never stuck. Two, I am offering you this job, aren't I? That should tell you something. Any more questions?
Thomas: Every communication that you've had with Liam boils down to "stay away."
Steffy: What if he doesn't mean it?
Thomas: Then why would he say it?
Steffy: What if he feels like he doesn't have a choice?
Thomas: Like, what, somebody has a gun to his head? Okay, if you want to absolve him of all of his bad behavior, I can't stop you. That guy broke every promise he ever made to you.
Deacon: You know I see right through you, right?
Quinn: You always did.
Deacon: [Chuckles] Oh, there's another lie. You know what, honey? You used to sucker me into one thing or another on a daily basis. You're not gonna pluck at my heartstrings and sucker me into first-degree murder.
[Cell phone rings]
Quinn: Hello, light of my life.
Wyatt: Please don't let anyone hear you call me that. Look, I'm calling to let you know that I'm quitting my job.
Quinn: No! Wyatt, you can't. Steffy needs you. You can't abandon her.
Wyatt: Whoa, Mom. Steffy's fine with it. Dad says that he needs me here at Spencer Publications. And, you know, it just feels right.
Quinn: Will you do me a favor? Tell your father for me that I --
Wyatt: Actually, he already suggested a way that you could show your gratitude.
Quinn: Anything he wants.
Wyatt: Um... he says don't call or show up here ever.
Quinn: Nothing would give me more pleasure.
Wyatt: Okay. Will do. Got to go, Mom.
Quinn: Okay. Congratulations, honey. I love you.
Deacon: So, what's Billy boy want now?
Quinn: To start treating Wyatt like his son and his heir.
Deacon: [Laughs] Yeah. Since when? Why? What happened?
Quinn: Since the obstacle that was standing between my boy and the life he deserves was removed.
Liam: Hey, Eve! What would you like to drink with dinner?
Quinn: And that obstacle needs to stay removed.
Liam: I mean, do you want tea or wine or...? You guys look serious.
Bill: Well, I had temporarily forgotten that whatever you tell Quinn not to do is exactly what she does.
Wyatt: She seems to be starting a new chapter in her life -- a hermit chapter, apparently.
Bill: Safer for society at large.
Wyatt: Come on, Dad. She means well.
Bill: She means you well. But she can't even get that right or we would have had the discussion about you joining me here long ago.
Wyatt: Okay, well, I'm gonna need that in writing -- you're not gonna hold it against me when she's occasionally unstable.
Bill: Just make sure she doesn't stab or poison any of the people around you and we'll be fine.
Steffy: [Sighs] You don't get to disappear. I won't let you.
Deacon: Your ears must have been burning.
Quinn: Oh, pay no attention to him, Adam.
Deacon: It just means we were talking about you.
Quinn: Mm-hmm. You know what? I would love a glass of wine. I feel like celebrating.
Liam: You were talking about me?
Deacon: Well, you know, uh, Eve's always got plans for you. She thinks about you all the time.
Liam: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, I think about her all the time. Are you sure you're not staying for dinner?
Quinn: Oh, another time.
Liam: Okay. I mean, I-I would like that. I actually could use a guy friend, you know?
Deacon: Sure. Sure. Another time.
Liam: So, what -- what is the -- what's the plan that my ears would be burning about?
Quinn: Well, I know that you've been lonely. You know, you've been cooped up here. And, uh, maybe I've been a little overprotective.
Liam: Oh, no. I wouldn't call it that.
Deacon: No, neither would I.
Quinn: Well, I-I was just worried that if you went out, you know, you'd have another one of your spells and, I don't know, you'd fall, get hurt, and, I mean, there's really rugged terrain out there.
Liam: I complain too much about being cooped up here, so...
Quinn: I wouldn't say that at all. And you're feeling better all the time. So, I was talking to Jim about what he thought about maybe taking a hike in the canyon.
Liam: You want to go on a hike?
Deacon: Look, there's some steep trails out there with some pretty steep drops.
Quinn: Yes, but Jim thinks that we're up to it. Would you like that?
Liam: [Chuckles] Well, yeah. I mean, like, an outdoor excursion beyond what we just do in -- in the back? Yeah! Well, what do you -- what do you think?
Quinn: I think I would be with you every step of the way.
Liam: All right! Okay. I'm -- I'm gonna -- I'm gonna finish up dinner. I'm gonna -- [Smooches] I'm gonna pour you that glass of wine. Jim, it was so nice meeting you. Thank you. Thank you for everything.
Deacon: So, you're gonna do it, aren't you?
Quinn: I protect what's important to me.
Deacon: And anyone who gets in your way has a bad habit of falling from high heights -- you know, bridges, helicopters, trails with canyons.
Quinn: We were good once, weren't we?
Deacon: I thought so.
Quinn: We could be again.
Deacon: [Chuckles] Yeah, right. Murder as a team sport.
Quinn: You know, I'm really good at knowing exactly what needs to be done. It's kind of my superpower. And your superpower is being my genie to command. You're my doer. You're my muscle.
Deacon: Mm. Just like a trained dog. Charming. That kid -- my daughter used to love him. For all I know, she still does. I can't raise a hand to him.
Quinn: Maybe I don't need your hands.
Deacon: Then what?
Quinn: Maybe I just need your trust.
Deacon: And what happens then, Quinn? I'm broke. I got nothing. People don't like me. They don't like you, and they smell you on me. Now, look, I know I was a crummy husband, but I tried. So, what are you telling me? That -- that -- that maybe, somehow, someway, I-I still fit into your life?
Quinn: You could be the doorway to every happy ending.
