Deacon: What the hell? You're late.
Quinn: Sorry. Traffic.
Deacon: Quinn, understand this -- this guy's doing me a favor, because we used to be in the same meeting together.
Quinn: I didn't think you just palled around with a bunch of neurologists. Look, I -- I appreciate it.
Deacon: [Laughs] You -- you need somebody to talk some sense into you. The fact that you insisted on ending our relationship does not mean that I don't -- look, I care about you, all right? Okay? But you are way off base, all right? Look, Liam is gonna wake up, he is gonna recognize who you are, and you are gonna get carted off to jail.
Quinn: Really? Is he gonna get all his memory back, or is he never gonna remember a thing? That's what I need to know. That's why I'm here.
Deacon: Hey, John.
Dr. Leeds: Hi.
Deacon: Good to see you.
Dr. Leeds: Nice to see you.
Deacon: Uh, this is my wife, Quinn. My ex-wife, sorry.
Dr. Leeds: How are you? I'm Dr. Leeds.
Quinn: I appreciate you seeing me.
Dr. Leeds: No problem. So, Deacon's filled me in about your friend. I'm not aware of all the circumstances, but what I gather, it's a pretty unique and complicated situation.
Quinn: It is. That's why he's not with me today. You know, he hasn't been himself lately. He's -- he's frustrated and he's confused. I was afraid if I brought him here, it would just make matters worse. He's completely lost his memory, and I'm -- I'm just wondering -- is he ever gonna get it back?
Steffy: I also told my dad we're available to babysit.
Wyatt: Cool. As long as you're on diaper duty, I'm in.
Steffy: Hey, he's part Spencer, too. Yours and Liam's cousin.
Wyatt: Yeah, well, who knows when Liam will come around to actually meet him.
Steffy: Caroline's first baby. I at least thought that Liam would be here or maybe send flowers or a text message, but Caroline hasn't heard anything.
Wyatt: I can't even remember the last time I talked to my brother.
Steffy: Liam was really excited for Caroline. For him to be completely MIA during all of this, it's -- it's weird. Does it bother you when we talk about him?
Wyatt: No. No, but he has gone AWOL. I mean, no one's talked to him in forever. I don't blame you for being concerned.
Steffy: Maybe my dad's right. Maybe Liam's taking a break. I don't know -- off the grid, reinventing himself.
Wyatt: Yeah, or maybe he's just being selfish -- living his life and he doesn't feel the need to check in with anyone.
Steffy: But Liam's not like that. He's just -- he's not inconsiderate. I don't know. I just -- I have this feeling. I have this feeling something's wrong.
Dr. Leeds: So the first brain trauma happened on the plane?
Quinn: Yes. And shortly after that was the fall in the parking lot.
Dr. Leeds: So we're talking about back-to-back concussions.
Quinn: Right, yes, and with the pressure changes, with the altitude, and the impact of the falls, was it maybe a mini-stroke or is the damage irreparable?
Dr. Leeds: Well, it's good you're doing your research, and you obviously care about your friend and you want to help him. But to be perfectly honest, I'm at an enormous disadvantage without examining him myself. Did you bring his charts, his scans?
Deacon: Uh, actually, there was a problem at the hospital with their online records.
Quinn: Well, this is more of a second opinion, informational appointment.
Dr. Leeds: I understand. But I'd like to get him in here and run some tests. You can see my scheduler on the way out. You know, but based on what you've told me, there's a real possibility his memory loss could be permanent. no way for me to be certain, and I could be wrong.
Quinn: What do you think the odds are, though? 80%? 90%?
Dr. Leeds: I couldn't give you a number. But based on the timeline of the injuries and how long his recall has been compromised, there's a chance your friend won't regain his memory.
Dr. Leeds: I know it's difficult to hear. And I encourage you to have him monitored by myself or another neurologist. You know, brain injuries are tricky. The sooner he sees a specialist, the better his prognosis might be. And if it comes down to it, you know, I can recommend some wonderful clinics and support groups. Do you have any other questions for me?
Quinn: No. No, I don't think so.
Dr. Leeds: Well, in that case, I have a patient to check on. But please, feel free. Call me anytime.
Deacon: John, thank you so much for squeezing us in. We appreciate it.
Dr. Leeds: You got it.
Quinn: Yeah. Thank you, Doctor.
Dr. Leeds: You're welcome. Good luck.
Deacon: I don't like that look.
Quinn: What? You heard the doctor.
Deacon: Even if Liam never gets his memory back, you can't keep the kid locked up like this. I mean, somebody's gonna -- somebody's gonna come looking for him or recognize him. I mean, it's LA. It's bound to happen.
Quinn: I'm not gonna let it happen. I will be careful.
Deacon: The only way that you get out from underneath this thing is you have got to confess. Wake up!
Deacon: Yeah. You take him to Bill, you work something out, and you plead for forgiveness. Otherwise, you're looking at prison, and I mean for a long time.
Quinn: You would like that, wouldn't you?
Deacon: No, I care about what happens to you. But I'm not gonna let you do this to yourself.
Wyatt: Look. I'm sure Liam's fine. I mean, we would have heard something if he wasn't.
Steffy: Being out of touch this long, it's just -- it's so unlike him. How do you just change overnight?
Wyatt: Well, maybe there's another side to him that we never knew about it -- the wild, rebellious Liam Spencer. I mean, it kind of sounds like a guy I'd probably hang out with.
Steffy: But no contact. Nothing. There's just no sign of him. It's like he disappeared.
Quinn: Oh! There she is! My future daughter-in-law. I'm never gonna get sick of saying that. Oh! [Laughs]
Wyatt: Hey, Mom.
Deacon: Hey, sonny boy.
Wyatt: Uh, wait, why -- why are guys together? You guys aren't giving it another go, are you?
Deacon: Take it easy, kid. I should be that lucky.
Quinn: No, no, no. We're just finalizing some details of our annulment. So, are you guys busy making wedding plans, hmm?
Steffy: We've thrown around an idea or two.
Wyatt: Yeah. Yeah, it won't be too long till I see my bride floating down the aisle.
Deacon: Or maybe she'll show up on a motorcycle like she did with that last guy.
Deacon: Your brother. I didn't want to say his name. It'd be rude.
Steffy: No, um, yeah, actually, we were just talking about Liam.
Wyatt: Yeah, uh, still no word, actually.
Deacon: Really? So you guys have no idea where he could be.
Steffy: No. I -- I just need to find him. I need to know that he's okay.
Quinn: Yeah, well, just remember that Wyatt is the man who would never abandon you.
Steffy: I know. And I will never forget it.
Deacon: [Laughs] I'm sorry, I just -- you'd be surprised how easy it is sometimes to forget things.
Quinn: I wouldn't worry about Liam. I'm sure he's in really good hands. Just like you are. Oh! It warms my heart to see you two so happy. You know, of course, I'm the type of mother who would do anything to make sure that her son is happy. And he finally is.
Steffy: Thank you for sending over the bridal magazines. That's really sweet of you.
Wyatt: Mm-hmm. And the flowers and the cake samples.
Quinn: Aww. Well, I was also thinking about cupcakes for the reception, but, you know, I don't think they're elegant enough.
Wyatt: Okay. Mom? Steffy and I just got engaged. We'll let you know when we start planning. Uh, or we could just elope.
Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, we --
Wyatt: We should do that.
Wyatt: We should elope.
Quinn: No, no, no, because that's not fun!
Wyatt: Okay. We'll keep you posted. We should go.
Quinn: Well, where are you going?
Wyatt: Oh, you know, just work. Like, a lot of work stuff to do. We should -- yeah.
Quinn: Okay. All right.
Quinn: Well, I love you!
Quinn: I love you, I love you.
Wyatt: Yeah, love you, too.
Quinn: Both! [Laughs]
Quinn: [Sighs] You see that? Do you see how happy they are? Those two are gonna be married soon enough.
Quinn: What is that supposed to mean?
Deacon: What are you gonna do? You gonna -- you gonna keep Liam away from her for the rest of his life? Just keep him locked up like a pet? I mean, sooner or later, the family's gonna put out a missing persons report, and when that happens, Bill is gonna use his considerable power and influence, and he is gonna investigate the disappearance, and you -- you're gonna be all over the news in a jumpsuit and handcuffs.
Quinn: Always so negative. You wonder why I ended things with you.
Deacon: Quinn, you haven't thought this thing through. You haven't come up with a realistic plan. I mean, you're usually one step ahead, but not this time. You want to know why? 'Cause you've fallen for Liam. And this whole thing -- it's crazy. It can't last. I mean, what do you even see in the guy? He's so weak and pathetic.
Quinn: Between you and Bill, I've had enough macho men to last me the rest of my life.
Deacon: You and I were good together. We can be good again. Let me help you out of this before it's too late. I mean, the truth is gonna come out sooner or later. Somebody is gonna see Liam. I mean, he's a public figure. He's a Spencer. This whole thing is so ridiculous. How many times have you told me how soft he is, and now the guy's all screwed up, and he can't even hold down a job. He gets dizzy when he stands up. I mean, what do you want to do? You want to spend the rest of your life with a putz like that?
Quinn: Hey. Don't call him a putz. I don't want to hear that.
Wyatt: So, if Ridge is willing to switch suppliers, I can get the collection down to...
Steffy: Oh, wow.
Steffy: Yeah, that's much more doable.
Wyatt: Yeah. You think he'd be down for that?
Steffy: Uh, yeah. When he sees the savings, plus his president approves.
Wyatt: See? Not only am I a fabulous kisser, I'm also quite good with numbers, apparently.
Steffy: Yeah, I know you do that well.
Wyatt: Yeah. Mm. Don't you worry. I will be available for kisses and slashing budgets, even if I make my way all the way over to that high-rise across town.
Steffy: Are you really considering working there?
Wyatt: I don't know. I mean, Dad hasn't exactly asked me outright, but it makes it seem like he might need me over there.
Steffy: Because Liam's gone?
Wyatt: Yeah. I think that's part of it.
Steffy: I'm sorry. This is just another reason why I don't get this.
Steffy: He wouldn't leave Katie and Bill high and dry. He's president. He doesn't just quit. He has too much integrity for that.
Wyatt: I would have thought so, too. But the fact of the matter is he's gone. He's not at his job, and obviously that's not a priority for him right now. He's just off somewhere doing his thing, whatever that may be.
Liam: I missed you, too.
Liam: How was your day?
Quinn: Uh, it was -- it was good. What is that smell?
Liam: Cooking dinner.
Quinn: [Laughs] Oh. That's so sweet.
Quinn: It smells delicious.
Liam: How was, uh -- how was your meeting?
Quinn: It was... very informative.
[Knock on door]
Quinn: [Gasps] Oh! Wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Liam: Oh, my God. There's somebody here! Hi. Can I help you?
Deacon: Uh, I'm a friend of Eve's.
Quinn: Yeah, yeah. No, this is Jim, Adam. He -- he's an old friend.
Liam: Oh, wow. Come on in, please. Come in. Come in. This is, uh... [Laughs] What -- do I -- do I -- do I know you?
Wyatt: Like I said, I get it. I understand why you're so upset about Liam. You -- you spent a lot of time together, you were married, you had this strong connection. But it's different with me. I'm his brother. He seems like he's got it together all the time, but he doesn't. He's just as wishy-washy as the next guy. And he's just usually a little more subtle about it.
Steffy: Nothing subtle about this.
Steffy: He's completely just vanished.
Wyatt: Okay. Liam's a smart guy, right?
Wyatt: If he's in any kind of danger, he'll find his way out. But wherever he is, whatever he's doing, it must be good for him.
Steffy: Yeah, but --
Wyatt: I'm just -- I'm just sorry that, like, he's got you so worried about him.
Steffy: Yeah, but I need to know that he's okay. I need to know that he's alive and then I won't be worried about him.
Wyatt: I know. But there's nothing that we can do about it right now. So let's focus on what we can do -- us. Our future, the life we're making together.
Steffy: I know.
Steffy: I know. I know. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I've just been all wrapped up in this. I probably haven't said it enough, but I'm really -- I'm really happy that we're together.
Steffy: And I'm really excited about our future. And the last thing I want to do is let this affect our relationship.
Wyatt: It won't. We won't let it. So from here on out, it's just you and me. Okay?
Liam: So, have we met before? Not -- sorry. Not that I would remember, obviously. I mean, if you're friends with Eve, you probably know what happened to me.
Deacon: Yeah, I do. And I'm really sorry for what you're going through.
Quinn: I told Jim all about it.
Deacon: I know all about you.
Liam: Probably more than I do at this point, right?
Deacon: Probably be right about that.
Liam: Yeah. So how -- how long have you and my wife known each other?
Deacon: Me and your wife?
Deacon: [Laughing] We go way back. You know, she's, uh -- well, she was a lot different then, you know, before she fell for you. Matter of fact, I barely recognize her now. Adam and Eve. You guys. What a pair you are, huh? Hiding away up here in the middle of nowhere.
Deacon: It's nice, though, you know? It's quiet but kind of isolated if you ask me. I mean, don't you ever miss the beach? Beverly Hills?
Liam: Uh... oh. I got to -- I got to check on dinner. I got to tell you. It is really nice to see another human face, you know? With the exception of a few walks in the canyon, I really -- I really don't get out much. Hey, it's nice to meet you, and come by anytime.
Deacon: Oh, I will.
Liam: Really. Come by anytime.
Deacon: I will. Wow.
Quinn: What are you doing here? It is too dangerous.
Deacon: No. No, what you're doing is dangerous. Right now, you and I are the only ones that know about him, but this thing is gonna unravel, and it is gonna blow up in your face. He's gonna press charges if he ever wakes up.
Deacon: No. Listen. Steffy will leave Wyatt, and that will be that. This whole thing is gonna come apart.
Quinn: Keep your voice down.
Deacon: I'm here because I care about you.
Deacon: Don't you get that? Quinn, do you -- you can't -- you can't be in love with Liam. It's like some kind of twisted fairytale.
Quinn: Will you please stop saying his name?
Deacon: He is gonna hate you when he realizes that you kept him hostage. You got to let this guy go, go to Bill, and plead for mercy.
Quinn: No. No. I am not going to his father. And Steffy is never gonna find out. She's gonna live out her days with Wyatt, and everything's gonna work out.
Deacon: You're insane. You're insane. You can't keep hiding him up here. What, are you crazy? There's only one thing you can do and that's let him go. What other alternative do you have?
Quinn: There's one other option.
Deacon: [Scoffs] Uh, what's that?
Quinn: We can get closer. Murder.
