Steffy: Hello? Who is this?
Liam: [Groans] Adam. Who is this? Hello?
Steffy: Uh... um, I -- I think I misdialed.
Quinn: Oh! Hey! Hey! That must be for me. I forgot my -- my phone. Um, hello?
Steffy: Quinn? Quinn, is that you?
Quinn: Yes, yes. Speaking.
Steffy: It's -- it's Steffy. Sorry. I was thrown for a second. I thought I dialed the wrong number.
Quinn: Uh, no, no. No, uh, but I could see why.
Steffy: Hey. Wyatt told me that you have a new guy in your life. Was -- was that him?
Steffy: Okay, um, yeah, actually, I -- I was calling about the necklace for California Freedom.
Quinn: Yeah. Yeah, I -- I had to do a few more tweaks on that than I originally anticipated, so I -- I promise I'll have it to you by the end of the day.
Steffy: Excellent. That's what I was hoping to hear. And, uh, congratulations on the new relationship.
Quinn: Yeah. Thank you. You don't know how great it is to have somebody like Adam in my life. Well, then again, maybe you do.
Steffy: Yeah, Wyatt's just what I need.
Quinn: Yes. Yes, he cares about you so much, and -- I always knew that it was gonna work out for the two of you.
Nicole: What's this?
Zende: Hmm. Strange. You know, it looks like someone's trying to set a mood in here.
Nicole: Oh. Well, then, you know, we better get out of here before Brooke comes back with her date. I mean, it's awesome she let me move in here and all, but I don't want to get on her bad side, so...
Zende: You know what? Brooke's not here.
Zende: In fact, she gave me free reign of this entire kitchen.
Nicole: Really? Now, why would she do that?
Zende: Well, 'cause I told her I had something special to celebrate.
Nicole: Something to celebrate? Hey. This better not be about me moving out.
Zende: Hmm. Granddad's place won't be so crammed now. And I won't have to fight for the bathroom anymore.
Nicole: [Laughs] Yeah, no, I know. It's been horrible. But I'm glad that you'll be getting some much-needed space. But you do get lonely over there, you know, you could always take Brooke up on her offer. She wouldn't mind if you moved in, too.
Zende: You know what? I think that might send Ridge the wrong message. Plus, I mean, you have a good reason to be near Rick and Maya. Me? Not so much.
Nicole: Good point. Don't want to make the boss angry.
Wyatt: [Sighs] Hi.
Steffy: Hey. How was your meeting?
Wyatt: [Scoffs] Useless. I mean, I should have postponed the whole thing until I got the new California Freedom piece from mom. Mmm. Wait, did you call her, or do you want me to call her?
Steffy: Actually, I just called her.
Wyatt: What? What -- what is that look on your face?
Steffy: Um, nothing. But, uh, he answered.
Wyatt: He? He who?
Steffy: Your mom's boyfriend.
Quinn: Hey. I am off to the store for real this time. I made it all the way to my car before I realized that, you know, I left my phone here in the house.
Liam: So, who was that?
Quinn: Uh, just somebody from work. Why? Did she sound familiar?
Quinn: Well, I -- I wouldn't think so. You don't -- you don't really know her that well.
Liam: Well, tell me about her.
Liam: Why? I mean, if you tell me stories about -- about your work or who you spend time with, you don't think something could trigger in me?
Quinn: Well, I doubt it. You -- you didn't really know any of those people very well, and, um... I mean, you -- you wouldn't even go to my office Christmas parties with me.
Liam: Wow. I sure was a catch before, wasn't I? [Scoffs] You probably prefer me not to have my memory back.
Nicole: Mmm. Sparkling cider.
Zende: This. This is to celebrate you.
Nicole: But it's not my birthday.
Zende: It's to you. To the beautiful woman who showed me what it truly means to give to another. To be completely selfless. You inspire me. Like no one else ever has. So, cheers.
Wyatt: Okay, you -- wait, you talked to my mom's new boyfriend?
Steffy: Yeah, he answered the phone. He sounded really, um...
Steffy: I don't know. He sounded like sweet and young. The total opposite from your mother's usual type.
Liam: You know what was strange about that call?
Liam: I couldn't explain who I was. You know, she thought that she had a wrong number, and I tried to think of what to say, and I realized... [Chuckles] I don't even know my last name. What is it?
Quinn: Your name?
Liam: Yeah. My name. I know I'm Adam. I'm Adam what? I -- you know, maybe if I just -- if I just heard my full name, something would click, or I'd remember. I don't know.
Quinn: Yeah, I mean, of -- of course. Your -- your last name. It's -- it's Smith. Adam Smith. Well, I mean, your full name is Adam...John...Smith. Does that ring a bell?
Quinn: [Sighs] Oh, gosh. That's too bad. Well, what about, um... what about A.J.? Uh, because I remember you telling me that you one of your foster parents used to call you A.J.
Liam: Doesn't sound familiar. Did you say "foster parents"?
Quinn: Yeah. Yeah. Uh... that was -- that was something else that I was hoping you would remember on your own. I -- I don't think that there's anything wrong in telling you about it now, though. You never knew your parents. And -- and you never had any siblings or relatives of any kind. You grew up in the foster care system, and you bounced from foster home to foster home your whole life, never staying anywhere long enough to build any -- any, uh, lasting connections. It was -- it was really painful for you. I -- I know that you were really lonely before we met. Maybe that is the reason why you can't remember anything, you know? Because maybe y-y-your brain doesn't want to let you relive all that -- all that pain.
Liam: [Sighs] That's awful.
Quinn: There was a part of me that was dreading telling you. And -- and a bigger part of me that was dreading you actually remembering because I didn't want to see you go through reliving your past again.
Liam: I know. I know. Not at the expense of me not remembering our history. That wouldn't be fair to you.
Quinn: I don't mind.
Liam: You don't mind, you don't mind, you don't mind, but you have no one to reminisce with.
Quinn: No. I mean, nostalgia is -- it's completely unimportant, though. Really. I mean, listen. I have you. Here and now, and the present is all that matters.
Liam: Okay. I know. I know, but I -- do you understand that I -- I would feel closer to you if I could just -- if I could remember... our first kiss, you know? Our first date. Or what you said to me on our wedding day. If I just -- maybe if I had photos to look at or something.
Liam: Yes. Like, of the wedding, the honeymoon, all of it. I don't care. I-I want to -- I want to see images of our life together.
Zende: You know, it feels a little silly now. Thinking about how I tried to -- well, I tried to talk you out of carrying this child for your sister. I knew what kind of person you were, how generous. You showed that side to me the moment we met. You stood up for me, a complete stranger.
Nicole: [Scoffs] You were cute. I couldn't let you mess up that interview.
Zende: Girl, will you take a compliment? Please.
Nicole: Okay. I'll try.
Zende: I respect you. And it's -- it's important to me that you know that. No matter how much I've fought this, no matter how much I complained about what this pregnancy would do for our relationship. I admire you for staying true to who you are. And I have a feeling I'll be admiring you, the choices you make, for the rest of my life.
Wyatt: Okay. You said his voice sounded sweet. Listen, I -- I know my mom better than anyone, and sweet is not her thing, okay?
Steffy: Until now it seems.
Wyatt: Well, everybody sounds sweet when you pick up the phone. "Hello, please hold." Unless there was more to it than that.
Steffy: I don't know. All I can say is that I can't wait to meet the guy.
Quinn: Yeah. Pictures could help.
Liam: I think so.
Quinn: Yeah. I mean... whatever I can fi-- I mean, whatever survived the fire.
Quinn: Well, yeah. We had a fire. I mean, nobody got hurt, but we lost a lot of memorabilia and pictures and stuff.
Liam: Okay, well, whatever you have, I'd like to see it.
Quinn: Yes. Yes, of course. Of course. I know -- I know that I -- when we packed up to move here, I put, you know, some albums and stuff in boxes 'cause, you know, when we moved here, we kind of had to downsize a bit 'cause it's smaller, but I will make it a priority to dig those out for you so that you can see them.
Liam: Thank you. Oh, that's nice.
Quinn: You okay?
Liam: Yeah, I'm just, you know, dizzy.
Quinn: Okay, well -- well, let's get you back to bed.
Liam: Yeah, okay. Probably -- probably a good idea.
Liam: [Groans] It seems to help. It makes the dizziness go away.
Quinn: Okay. I'm gonna go that medicine for you, okay?
Liam: No, you know what? I'm -- once I sleep, I'll be okay.
Quinn: Are you sure?
Quinn: It's not a problem.
Liam: No. No, you are so good to me. You're so good to me. You even protect me from my own past.
Quinn: [Sighs] You rest, okay?
[Knocks on door]
Deacon: Well, hey there, good looking.
Quinn: What do you want?
Deacon: I just thought maybe if you had a little time, we could, I don't know, grab a bite.
Quinn: Uh, I have no time, and we got an annulment, which means we don't eat together anymore.
Deacon: Okay, I thought that we were trying to keep this friendly.
Quinn: Who said that? Not me. You can't keep coming over here.
Deacon: Why are so intense? What's going on? Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
Quinn: Will you lower your voice?
Deacon: I can't believe he's still here. Still no memory?
Quinn: No. Not yet.
Deacon: He's alive, right?
Quinn: Yes, of course he's alive.
Deacon: [Laughs] Alive and confused.
Deacon: Living here with you.
Quinn: Shh, shh, shh.
Deacon: Thinking that you're his wife?
Deacon: I just -- I hope -- I hope that I'm here when he figures it out 'cause man, that is gonna be a fight worth paying for. [Chuckles]
Nicole: You are just as giving as I am, Zende. You're understanding and encouraging.
Zende: You know, giving encouragement is really easy from the sidelines. You -- you're actually making a sacrifice. I couldn't do that. I wouldn't.
Wyatt: You've actually made me feel a lot better. You know that?
Steffy: Have I?
Wyatt: Yeah. I mean, I was worried about this new guy. I was wondering what -- what kind of man she would rebound to so quickly.
Steffy: Anyone seems better than Deacon.
Wyatt: Yeah, but -- it sounds like she found someone I might actually approve of.
Deacon: How much longer do you think you can keep this up?
Quinn: I don't know. Until he remembers.
Deacon: And your little plan? That's coming together? Steffy and Wyatt, they're growing closer?
Quinn: Yes. As I knew they would. They just needed a little time to themselves.
Deacon: So, when Liam remembers who he is, what, are you counting on Wyatt and Steffy being, what, married? I don't know, having a baby, maybe a dog, white-picket fence, and it won't even matter anymore?
Quinn: Stranger things have happened.
Deacon: I don't think anything stranger than Liam buying this cock-and-bull story that you're his wife. It's insane.
Quinn: It's not that hard to believe.
Deacon: Quinn. He detests you.
Quinn: Yeah, we haven't always gotten along, but Adam is nothing like Liam.
Deacon: Well, excuse me, um, Adam is Liam.
Quinn: Okay, can you -- just leave now.
Deacon: Oh, come on. Let me stick around just till hubby wakes up, okay?
Quinn: Take your pretzels and go.
Deacon: Hey, look, I'm worried about you. I really am. Come on. You have to be under tremendous strain. All these lies? I mean, it can't be easy trying to convince him that you're his wife. Let me ask you something. How do you avoid the physical contact? I mean, the guy thinks that he's your husband. So Liam's got to be trying to play, what, kissy face and hand-holding or whatever the Hell else Liam likes. What, you just go along with it? Quinn, listen to me. Sooner or later, this guy is gonna want more. Oh, he already has. You and Liam. How did -- how did you get through it, Quinn? What'd you do? Did you just close your eyes and think about me?
Quinn: Can you please just leave now?
Deacon: [Scoffs] You and Liam? What are you telling me? What, did you actually like it?
Deacon: I can't believe this. You and Liam.
Quinn: It is not what you think.
Deacon: No, no, you said -- you said you can't stand Liam, but Adam -- Adam --
Quinn: No! Shhh! I could never have feelings for that spineless twerp, okay? For that tofu-loving, do-gooding, nice-to-everybody... the -- eyes. They're the kind and gentle eyes that -- that see right through me. That-that-that want to -- that want to -- that want to take care of me.
Deacon: Oh, my God.
Quinn: You know what? Maybe there is more for me out there than what men like you have been giving me over the years.
Deacon: No, no, no, no, no. Don't -- don't even go there.
Quinn: No, and maybe -- maybe there is more to me than that. Maybe -- maybe I'm not duplicitous and cutthroat, because you know, I wasn't always like that. Once I was a little girl. I was innocent.
Deacon: Let me ask you something. Is Liam contagious? Because you are starting to have some memory issues. Honey, there ain't anything innocent about you.
Quinn: Shut up.
Deacon: It's true. You think how this whole thing started, all right? You were a bad, bad woman, who kidnapped an unconscious guy so that her son could hook up with his fiancée, all right? So you think about that next time -- next time you're thinking about Liam's eye melt your schoolgirl heart.
Quinn: Okay. You don't know what you're talking about. I have done nothing but care for him. I have been nursing him.
Deacon: You have done that for Wyatt's sake. This isn't like you suddenly became Florence Nightingale or something. This is all one of your big manipulations, and as soon as "Adam" figures out that he's Liam, he's not gonna be looking at you with those puppy-dog eyes, Quinn. He's gonna throw your ass in jail.
Deacon: No, definitely.
Quinn: See, but the thing is -- nobody's ever talked to me the way he's talked to me. Nobody has ever touched me that way or cared for me that way. Maybe when he does -- when he does get his memory back, it's not gonna matter because if he's feeling the way that I'm feeling, then --
Deacon: Wait. Feelings? What -- what feelings? Wait a second, are you -- are you talking about love? Are you in -- are you in love with Liam?
