Bill: Super Will! Whoo! Okay, how mad is Mommy gonna get that I'm getting you all hyped up before bedtime? Hmm? What time -- what time is it? Let's see. Where's Mommy?
Brooke: Oh, wait! That's not a...family...photo... I love you. You will always be the greatest love of my life.
Bridget: You still love him.
Brooke: My love for Bill has never changed. It's as powerful as it's ever been. And it probably always will be. But I would never interfere in his relationship with Katie. Or their family.
Maya: I like this one.
Rick: Well, what about this one? It's a little bit more traditional, subdued.
Maya: Subdued? Frogs and rabbits.
Rick: Or lions and giraffes.
Maya: I think the baby will love whatever we pick.
Rick: Yeah. Well, just think, in a few months, you could be sitting in that chair rocking our baby to sleep.
Maya: I can't wait.
Rick: You are gonna be an amazing mother.
Maya: That's what I've always wanted. It's one of the first things I told you about myself.
Rick: Mm-hmm. I've always wanted to be a father. I almost was a couple times.
Maya: Like when Amber lost the baby?
Rick: In the beginning, she told me that I had a son. Turned out it wasn't mine. Feels like a lifetime ago. But I'm ready now, though. I'm ready to be a father. Not that I'm not gonna make mistakes, because, you know, parents aren't perfect.
Maya: [Chuckles] Don't I know that.
Rick: Speaking about parents, I'm worried about my mom.
Bridget: I was gone during so much of your time with Bill. I didn't really know what you guys were like together.
Brooke: I guess that depends on who you ask.
Bridget: Okay, so I'll probably ask you.
Brooke: It doesn't matter now.
Bridget: Mom, you just told me what a powerful connection you guys had. It must have been a special relationship, so tell me about it.
Brooke: Oh. [Sighs] I don't think that's a good idea, honey.
Bridget: Mom, I would really like to know.
Brooke: It was a glorious love affair with the most passionate man I have ever known.
Bill: There's Mommy! Let's...
Will: Mommy. Mommy. Mommy.
Bill: Let's, uh, let's let Mommy sleep. Come here. Daddy is gonna put you to bed tonight. And... we will see Mommy in the morning, okay? Come on. Let me tell you a story. Let's go do a bedtime story. How about that?
Maya: I can't believe your mom told Bill she still loves him.
Rick: Yeah, and Katie overheard.
Maya: Well, no wonder she's no longer working at Spencer. If one of your exes said that to you, I would be livid.
Rick: Yeah, but they're sisters.
Maya: They also both have a history with Bill.
Rick: She gave him up so he could be with Katie. She walked away from one of the best relationships in her life. I mean, if things had worked out differently with Bill, they could possibly be married now.
Brooke: It all started with a sense of appreciation and respect. Bill needed me.
Bill: "Bill, I'm sorry, but I can't be Will's mommy. I want a divorce. Our son is yours now. Find him a good mother, something I can't be."
Brooke: Then as time went on, the relationship grew and changed, and before we knew it, we had fallen in love. What should have been so complicated and confusing turned out to be so beautiful. It made perfect sense. Every moment was filled with excitement and passion. We had the world at our fingertips. I think it was the happiest time in my life. Until I realized that it was at Katie's expense.
Brooke: And I couldn't live with that. So Bill went back to his family, and that's where he belongs. I still think it was the right decision.
Katie: Hey. I closed my eyes. I was finally able to relax. Uh, where's Will? I want to put him down.
Bill: Will's been asleep for an hour, Katie.
Katie: Oh. Wow. I must have fallen asleep.
Katie: [Sighs] Well, I guess it's not any wonder. I mean, it's been a rough couple of days. Hanging on to all that anxiety and anger is kind of exhausting.
Bill: And I'm glad we've been able to talk through a lot of that. But I think there's something more we need to discuss.
Katie: What? [Sighs] Come on. I fell asleep.
Bill: Will couldn't wake you up.
Katie: Will saw me like that?
Bill: Yes, he did. Of course, he thought you were sleeping.
Katie: Uh... okay, I guess I... I had a little too much tonight.
Bill: You've had a drink in your hand a lot lately.
Katie: [Chuckles] Coming from you? This can't possibly be something that you're concerned about.
Bill: I am concerned about it. And if this is a result of Brooke --
Katie: No. No, don't -- don't do that. Don't say her name. I don't want her in this bedroom with us. No.
Bill: I think we have a problem, Katie.
Katie: No, we don't have a problem. Me having a few drinks after a really bad night is not a problem. Brooke is the problem.
Katie: [Sighs] I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't -- I-I don't want to get upset about this again. I... [Sighs] Honestly, the only thing I want to do right now is just get into bed and relax with my husband. That's it. I appreciate your concern. I do. But it's not necessary. I'm fine.
Maya: I'm sorry for what your mom's going through.
Rick: It's not just my mom I'm worried about. I'm worried about Katie, too. She's had issues in the past. After Will was born, you know, I just don't want any of those insecurities to put her into another downward spiral.
Maya: Katie's one of the most secure people I've ever met.
Rick: I know. I don't want anything to derail that, especially now that will's old enough to pick up on what's going on.
Maya: He's still little.
Rick: I know, but trust me, kids know. They may not fully comprehend it, but -- but they'll feel it, and no parent should ever put their kid in that situation.
Maya: You are gonna make such a good dad.
Rick: I'd like to think that Bill and Katie are great parents. They've created this incredible life for their family. And we're gonna give our child that kind of stability. I just hope theirs lasts.
Bill: Thought you said you were tired.
Katie: Hmm. Changed my mind.
Bill: Well, like you said, Katie, it's been a long day, and I have that very important conference call with Stuttgart in the morning.
Katie: [Laughs] Are you serious?
Bill: It's been on the schedule for a week.
Katie: You're seriously telling me that you want to go to sleep right now?
Bill: I should, yeah.
Katie: You're mad.
Katie: Yeah, you are. You're angry with me for falling asleep.
Bill: I'm not angry. I'm not angry.
Katie: Okay. Well... come on.
Bill: Katie. I'm concerned.
Katie: Let me show you that you don't have anything to be concerned about.
Bill: [Sighs] Not tonight.
Katie: What is this? I mean, is this -- is this about what happened at Brooke's? You think I was too hard on her? What?
Katie: I have every right to be angry. Don't look at me like that. I'm not crazy.
Bill: Uh, no, Katie. I'm not looking at you like you're crazy. I'm... you're not. But there are things you have to be aware of. Warning signs. Dark moods.
Katie: I have had my battles, especially after Will was born, but... [Sighs] That was a long time ago. I have been fine for a long time. You don't need to worry about me. If something was wrong, you would be the first person I would tell. You made me feel so much better downstairs. You made me feel so good. Let me make you feel good. Okay. [Chuckles] Right. Well, you, um... you've got that -- that phone call in the morning, so I'm gonna -- I'm gonna go down and just -- I'm gonna read a little bit downstairs.
Bill: And then you'll come to bed?
Katie: Yeah, of course. I'm sorry about what happened earlier. You sure that Will wasn't upset?
Bill: No. No, he went right to sleep.
Katie: Okay. Well, you should, too. 'Cause you've got that call. Good night. I love you.
Bill: I love you, too.
Bridget: You gave up so much, Mom.
Brooke: [Sighs] Bill is the love of Katie's life. They have a nice family. They have a good marriage. I didn't want to get in the way of that.
Bridget: So she's okay now? She's happy?
Brooke: I'm a little worried about her. When she overheard me say those things to Bill, her insecurities came out.
Brooke: It's why I invited them over to dinner, and I wanted to talk about it and reassure her, let her know that everything's fine. But your Aunt Katie definitely did not seem like herself tonight. I was surprised Katie accepted my invitation.
Bridget: I'm not. She -- you're sisters. She loves you. She doesn't want to lose you.
Brooke: Well, we are communicating. You know, we were talking about Storm and Mom and her recipes and growing up.
Bridget: That's wonderful.
Brooke: Yeah. And then she wanted to see photo albums, but the one that she grabbed had pictures of me and Bill in it.
Bridget: Oh, boy.
Brooke: And that really set her off.
Bridget: But you had a relationship. Those are your memories. She cannot be angry about that.
Brooke: Oh, she was. She called it stalkerish.
Brooke: Bill calmed her down.
Bridget: [Sighs] Lord, so you're just what? Back to square one?
Brooke: We are talking, and she said she does want to work things out, but that might be easier said than done. She's -- she's being very suspicious and very defensive.
Bridget: You're right. This doesn't sound like Katie.
Brooke: I hope it's temporary.
Bridget: Oh, Mom, me, too.
Brooke: Honey, why don't you go upstairs and get some rest, okay? It was a long flight and the time change and all that.
Bridget: Okay. I'm so glad to see you. It's all gonna be okay.
Brooke: Yeah. It will. Katie and I will work through this. We always do.
Bridget: I love you. Good night.
Brooke: [Chuckles] [Dialing] [Sighs]
[Cell phone rings]
Bill: [Sighs] Hey.
Brooke: Bill? I was calling Katie's cell. Is she there?
Bill: Can she talk to you in the morning, Brooke?
Brooke: Is she sleeping?
Bill: It's just not a good time right now.
Brooke: Okay. Um, just tell her I called. I'm worried about her. I don't like the way we left things.
Bill: I'm worried about her, too. And yeah, I don't think it was the best night for any of us. But hopefully things will look different in the morning.
Katie: [Sighs] [Dialing] Hi, Dr. Hayden. It's, um, it's Katie Spencer. Um, I know it's been awhile, but everything's fine. Um... actually, everything's not so fine. I stopped taking my antidepressant, because I-I didn't feel like I needed it anymore, but... there are a few things that I'd like to come in and talk to you about, so if you could call me tomorrow with your earliest opening, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
Brooke: [Tearfully] I love you.
Katie: I love you, too. I thought you would make a better mom to Will. I don't think that anymore. You're a wonderful, loyal sister.
Brooke: I promise you I am not going to interfere in your happiness ever again.
Katie: We want you to come work with us here at Spencer Publications.
Brooke: Katie can never know. You will always be the greatest love of my life. [Echoing] Bill is yours. I want you two to be happy. I want my sister back. I've been struggling and fighting my feelings, because of how much I do care! Oh!
