Thomas: Uh, you're -- you're in labor?
Caroline: Oh, my God. I don't know. Ooh! Ow, ow! That was a really strong one.
Caroline: This can't be happening. It's too soon.
Wyatt: Delete it.
Steffy: [Voice breaking] How could he say those things?
Wyatt: Because he's moved on. And it's time that you do, too.
Liam: I'm only gonna say this once. Stop calling. Get a life. Don't ever call this number again.
Liam: Is that the prank caller again? I thought we -- thought we handled that.
Quinn: Uh, we did. I don't think it's going to be an issue anymore.
Liam: Oh. Good. I thought -- 'cause you were playing the recording.
Quinn: No, I just wanted to hear it again because it worked so well.
Liam: Stern, protective husband voice.
Quinn: Scaring away all the riffraff for me. You have no idea how grateful I am.
Thomas: Okay, uh, your coat? Your coat -- where is your coat?
Thomas: Your coat. I'm taking you to the hospital, because that's where we need to go.
Caroline: Thomas, no.
Thomas: You're having contractions. You're having contractions. I don't know what to do, so we're gonna go to the hospital.
Caroline: Will you please just help me lie down and then I -- if they get stronger, I'll just take a cab. It'll be fine.
Thomas: Absolutely not. There's a baby coming out, and I don't know what to do, so yeah, let's not take any chances. We're just gonna --
Thomas: This way. Come on, come on. All right, easy, easy. There's the door.
Liam: What smells so good?
Quinn: [Chuckles] Uh, well, I have been busy while you were napping -- cooking for my valentine.
Liam: Valentine? I have to run an errand. I have to run an errand.
Quinn: Whoa, whoa, whoa. In your condition? [Chuckling] You're -- you're out of your mind. Tell me what you need and I'll take care of it.
Liam: Eve, I'm not making you go out and buy your own Valentine's Day gift.
Quinn: Oh, Adam, you don't need to buy me anything.
Liam: I want to.
Quinn: No, no. You're -- you're up and you're about, getting better and better every day. That's the only gift I could ask for.
Liam: Hey, maybe that's what's been nagging at me -- Valentine's Day.
Quinn: What do you mean, nagging at you?
Liam: You know, I keep having that feeling like there's something I'm supposed to do or somewhere I'm supposed to be?
Quinn: The mall! Come on. That's got to be it. Your brain is -- is obviously trying to get you to remember that you love showering me with gifts. Yeah.
Steffy: Look, I-I know it's your place, but you don't have to stick around if you don't want to.
Wyatt: Do you think there is anywhere in this world I would rather be than right by your side?
Steffy: I know. Thank you.
Wyatt: Look, Liam -- Liam's gone, but... you're not alone. You know that, right?
Steffy: I know. Why would he do this?
You did the right thing coming in.
Caroline: You think? Because it's been awhile since my last contraction.
Better to be safe than sorry. Doing good, dad.
Thomas: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I-I'm just a -- just a friend.
Caroline: My husband is out of town. I'm just really hoping that this baby isn't coming right now.
Dr. Burchfield: It's early, but not by much. Hello, Caroline. I'm Dr. Burchfield. Nice to meet you.
Caroline: You, too. Um, you don't think that it's too soon, do you?
Dr. Burchfield: Ideally, you'd have a little more cooking time, but some babies have a mind of their own. Stepping in for the father, did I hear?
Thomas: Yeah, yeah. Thomas. Good to meet you. Uh, put me in scrubs, man. Let's go for it.
Dr. Burchfield: Let's hope it doesn't come to that yet.
Caroline: It can't. It can't.
Dr. Burchfield: I know the idea is scary, especially with your husband out of town. Going through this without the baby's father must be very stressful.
Take a deep breath. You're in good hands.
Dr. Burchfield: Has your water broken?
Dr. Burchfield: But you're having contractions?
Caroline: Um, I've had a few.
Dr. Burchfield: Painful?
Caroline: Yeah. Or, um... I guess uncomfortable would be a better word.
Dr. Burchfield: Okay. Let's run a few tests to see if we need to send her up to labor and delivery.
Quinn: You okay?
Liam: Yeah. I'm just tired. I ate too much maybe. Dinner was excellent.
Quinn: I hope you saved room for dessert.
Liam: You made dessert, too?
Quinn: [Chuckles] Well, I can't take credit for it. This woman I work with sent me a home with an entire plate of lemon bars.
Liam: Lemon bars? That sounds familiar.
Quinn: Uh, yeah. I thought you might like those.
Liam: Do I?
Quinn: [Chuckles] [Sighs] You seem stressed.
Liam: No. No, not stressed. Just -- I just feel...off. Like something's not right. I know you don't want to hear that. I-I don't want to upset you.
Quinn: Oh, no. I'm -- I'm not.
Liam: Oh, you've been so good to me, and I really want to be who you need me to be.
Quinn: You don't have to try anything. You're exactly what I need exactly the way you are.
Liam: It's really frustrating not knowing who I am, who we are, how we got to this point. It's really frustrating.
Quinn: What do you want to know?
Liam: Everything. I have a million questions.
Quinn: Okay, well, let's -- let's start with question number one.
Liam: Why don't we have kids? I mean, I-I-I know that you said we talked about it, but did we try? Is one of us unable? And the only reason I'm asking, Eve, is because you're so good to me. It's the way that you take care of me. It's -- it's shocking that we don't have kids because you'd be a natural at it. I mean, you'd be such a good, devoted mother. I guarantee there's nothing you wouldn't do for your child.
Steffy: Don't worry. I'm not making a run for it.
Wyatt: [Scoffs] I know. I just don't want any interruptions. My mom always brings by a box of chocolates, and she hasn't brought them by yet.
Steffy: Wait. Chocolates?
Wyatt: Yeah. Embarrassing, right? Grown man, and his mom still thinks that she's his Valentine. It's -- it's crazy, but...
Steffy: Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day. [Groans] That doesn't rub salt on the wound.
Steffy: Of course. Valentine's day.
Wyatt: Don't be sad that you're not spending Valentine's Day with him. You're telling me that you were looking forward to that snoozefest? Come on. You are so much better now.
Steffy: You know what? I am. You've consistently been by my side, made me feel loved for -- for who I am, never being judged. I just can't believe it's taken this long to figure that out.
Wyatt: Maybe you weren't ready yet.
Steffy: I am now.
Wyatt: Maybe we both are.
Caroline: So, I wasn't dilated at all?
Dr. Burchfield: Nope.
Caroline: I mean, that's a good sign, right?
Dr. Burchfield: Yes, especially considering you haven't had another contraction since you came in. And your ultrasound appears fine. Your little boy is as healthy as can be.
Caroline: A boy? [Clears throat]
Dr. Burchfield: I should have asked if you already knew. I apologize.
Caroline: It's a boy. [Chuckles] I'm having a son.
Quinn: Are you saying I have some sort of untapped maternal instinct?
Liam: Killer instinct.
Quinn: [Chuckles nervously] I like your confidence in me.
[Chuckles] To answer your question, our timing just has never been right.
Liam: Well, one day it will be, and you'll be great.
Quinn: At motherhood?
Liam: Yeah, I can tell.
Liam: It's the kindness in your eyes. I see your devotion. Just take all the love that you have to offer and give that to a child, and that is a lucky kid.
Quinn: Maybe...we can start trying. Or... practicing?
Liam: R-- yeah? Really?
Quinn: Yeah. I mean, um... if you...feel...
Quinn: What's wrong?
Liam: Uh, nothing.
Liam: No. I wouldn't let that stop me. Maybe not a headache. Maybe just... uh, I don't know, exhaustion? I j-- [Sighs] I feel the wheels trying to turn in my head, and -- and... not. And I want to understand who I am. I want to understand who we are. But I-I just -- I-I keep having this same awful feeling, like there's somewhere I'm supposed to be.
Quinn: Here. You just need to be here with your wife.
Quinn: Let me help you. I am all you need. I am all you will ever need.
Dr. Burchfield: They're called Braxton-Hicks contractions.
Caroline: [Sighs] So it's just false labor?
Dr. Burchfield: Exactly. But don't worry. It's very common. When the baby's really coming, the contractions will last longer, they will be stronger, and will happen more frequently.
Caroline: See? I told you. I just need to put my feet up.
Thomas: [Chuckles] No. There was no way I was gonna take that risk.
Dr. Burchfield: Next time try taking a warm bath or going for a walk, deep breathing. If you're actually in labor, the contractions will progress, and you'll know to come in.
Caroline: Okay. Thank you.
Dr. Burchfield: Preterm labor could still happen, of course, usually in the case of a multiple birth, which isn't your situation or if the mother's using drugs or alcohol. Any number of reasons, really. The mother might develop an infection. The cervix could be weak.
Caroline: When you -- when you say, like, drugs, you mean like medication?
Dr. Burchfield: Depends on the medication. Is there a concern?
Caroline: What? No. No.
Dr. Burchfield: Even early on? Sometimes if a pregnancy is accidental, if you're not trying to conceive. Were you on medication then?
Caroline: At conception?
Dr. Burchfield: Would you prefer to talk in private?
Caroline: No, no, no, it's fine. Um, no. My -- my husband and I were definitely trying to have a baby. Um, so there was no drugs or drinking or anything like that at any point during this pregnancy.
Liam: I kind of thought it would make me remember.
Quinn: Nothing sparked?
Liam: There were sparks. Just not the "now I know who I am" kind.
Quinn: It's okay. I know who you are. That'll get us through.
Wyatt: Be right back.
Steffy: Where are you going?
Wyatt: Well, I just -- I want to go get some more wine.
Wyatt: Red or white?
Steffy: I think it's more of a champagne now.
Wyatt: [Chuckles] It sure is.
Singer: They say it's just another day but I never felt that way 'cause every second passing by I'm left alone here wondering why once again I'm standing here with so much in my heart once again so desperately to make a brand new start once again I'm searching and that's the hardest part if I only had the answers once again
Steffy: [Voice breaking] Goodbye, Liam. Wherever you are.
Singer: I know that you're still out there even though it's been so long someday you'll realize what we had was so strong once again I'm standing here with so much in my heart once again so desperately to make a brand new start once again I'm searching and that's the hardest part if I only had the answers once again
