Woman: Have a seat, Deacon.
Deacon: You know what, I apologize for coming in late like this. Uh, you know what, I'm gonna check the schedule and grab a meeting tonight. I'll come back.
Woman: Oh, hey, listen, any time is the right time to join. Have a seat.
Deacon: Okay.
Woman: We have another newcomer who was just sharing her story. Brooke, go ahead.
[Knock on door]
Quinn: Hey!
Wyatt: You busy?
Quinn: Sweetheart, you don't need to knock. You have a key, right?
Wyatt: Yeah. Well, with Deacon here, I never know what I'm gonna walk in on.
Quinn: [Laughs] Well, that's true. But he's not here.
Wyatt: Mm.
Quinn: What are those? Not more legal papers for me?
Wyatt: I told you I dropped the restraining order, remember?
Quinn: [Sighs] So they're not for me?
Rick: Well, was I magnificent or was I miserable?
Maya: I think "commanding" is the word.
Rick: Brilliant strategy or low blow?
Maya: A little of both. But Ivy's been hounding us for some time, and nothing should back her off like the threat of Quinn should.
Rick: Mm-hmm. Maybe I should put a desk in here for you. Everything works right when you're with me.
Maya: I don't need an incentive to stay right next to you.
Rick: Good. I am gonna need the office to myself. My attorney wants to meet.
Maya: What about?
Rick: The judge signed off on the divorce papers today.
Carter: Hey.
Ridge: Carter. How are you?
Carter: I got a text from Caroline asking me to sit in on a meeting with Rick and his attorney?
Ridge: Yeah. She's in New York visiting her moms, and she just found out that her divorce settlement, non-settlement, is gonna be...
Carter: Ratified?
Ridge: That's the word. Ratified today, yeah.
Carter: Is she okay?
Ridge: Yeah, I think she's gonna be okay. She knew it was coming. And she's trying to be cooperative, and, um... well, she's just happy that this is one step closer to being done with Rick for good.
Maya: If you're sure you don't need anything from me...
Rick: Well, it's not like I'm keeping any secrets. There's no money exchanging hands or anything like that.
Maya: Your divorce is your business. I'm sure you were fair to Caroline. You want me to stay, you want me to go... whatever moral support looks like to you, you got it.
Rick: You waiting for me at home is all the inspiration that I need.
[Rap music playing in headphones]
[Rap music playing through house]
You deserve the best hope you wasn't waiting long yep, yep I'm glad you came plus we up next to get it on tonight, yeah we came to party tonight we lose all our fears and the way that your body's movin' let's get one thing clear when the sun goes down
Quinn: I think I know what you did, and you can just put that right in the shredder.
Wyatt: I'm not putting it in the shredder.
Quinn: Well, Deacon is not going to sign a prenup, and I won't make him.
Wyatt: And he said that?
Quinn: Yes, he did.
Wyatt: And that's not a red flag for you? Whatever. You know what, never mind. It's not a prenup, okay?
Quinn: Then what?
Wyatt: It's just something I need you to keep in the safe for me.
Brooke: Alcohol was never a problem for me. And anybody who has known me, they -- they know that about me. I mean, I-I just started drinking more this year. And I've known alcoholics through my life. Who hasn't? I just never thought I would be one of those people. I mean, I figured [Scoffs] Hey, if I'm not an alcoholic at this point in my life, I'm never going to become one.
Man: I did.
Brooke: Well, I'm not saying that I am or -- I mean, I'm not saying that I'm not. [Sighs] I'm just... I'm just feeling lost.
Maya: Anything in particular you want for dinner?
Rick: Wow. You're cooking?
Maya: Well, today is a milestone, after all.
Rick: That it is.
Maya: I don't want you to think that I'm dancing on the grave of your marriage. It's just...after today, I won't be the other woman anymore.
Rick: Thank you for being patient with me.
Maya: Thank you for being the best thing that's ever happened to me.
[Rap music playing through house]
Come on when it feels so right nothing can go wrong hope you're ready Hope you're ready 'Cause tonight just might hope you're ready Yeah, get ready 'Cause tonight just might be the best And this is the best night ever don't you wish this could last forever? Well, never say never
Nicole: "Please remember to move your clothing from the dryer, and to make your bed by 9:00 A.M. The housekeeper won't make it up for you. Maya. P.S. A little consideration is all I ask.
[Rap music playing through house]
Something like a one-night stand y'all blamed it on the Hennessy that got you nine nine months later shopping at the Gymboree I'm seeing life pass in a flash looking back at your golden years and she'll want this moment forever let's get one thing clear when the sun goes down and the lights come on when it feels so right nothing can go wrong hope you're ready Hope you're ready
Carter: So, how is it designing by yourself while she's away?
Ridge: Just doesn't work as well.
[Telephone rings]
Carter: It's Rick.
Ridge: Sure that's not for me.
[Ringing continues]
Carter: Hey, Rick.
Rick: Caroline there?
Carter: Uh, no. She's out of town. She asked me to sit in for her. I'll be right over. [Sighs]
Ridge: Sure you're gonna be okay?
Carter: Yeah. I'm just looking out for Caroline. It's the least I can do.
Ridge: Thank you.
Quinn: Is it going to self-destruct in 60 seconds?
Wyatt: Oh, my -- you changed the combination on the safe, otherwise I would've put it in there myself.
Quinn: So it's not dangerous? What, is it your -- your last will and testament?
Wyatt: Can you stop? Will you just put it in the safe for me or not? I don't want it around.
Quinn: Is this something that I am going to have to read in the case of your untimely --
Wyatt: Can you just do something for me without asking any questions? It's my divorce papers.
Woman: Does anybody want to share who hasn't gotten a chance to? Even if it's your first time?
Deacon: Okay. Uh... this -- this is my first time here at this meeting, but it's not my first time. Lady, uh, was talking about blacking out last night. I think I've blacked out for entire years of my life. There's a lot that I wish I couldn't remember. I wasn't a very nice drunk. Um... I, uh -- I did a lot of stupid stuff. Stuff that I'm too embarrassed to tell any of you about. I had a daughter who I adored, and even I knew that I wasn't fit to be around her. I did manage to get sober in these rooms. It wasn't pretty, and it didn't magically make me a better person. But the funny thing is that it started to make me a better person in spite of myself. See, I got involved in a relationship with somebody who... she was way more desperate than I was. Somebody who really needed my help. And the amazing thing is that I was actually able to help her. I was actually able to be there for this person. Now we're getting married. See, I-I don't -- I don't want to screw this up. Um...I started drinking again. And I know that if I keep drinking, that it's gonna go back to the way it was. And I'm gonna wind up poisoning everything that's good in my life. Thank you.
Rick: Carter. You remember Kris.
Carter: Good to see you again.
Kris: Carter. Shall we?
Rick: [Clears throat]
Kris: I know it's thick, but this is everything from the first filing. You can take a look at the new pages that are tabbed.
[Dance music plays]
Maya: Hello? Hi! Could you turn off, please?
[Music continues]
Maya: Hello? Off? Off? Please?
[Music fades]
Nicole: You're home early.
Maya: Yeah, well, it's a special day. Why is the fireplace on?
Nicole: Oh, I was cold. Uh, what's so special about it?
Maya: Rick's divorce came through.
Nicole: Oh, cool.
Maya: Yeah. So I'm gonna plan a little celebration for the two of us tonight. So this would be a great night for you to reconnect with your UCLA friends. There.
Quinn: Sweetheart, did you think you couldn't tell me?
Wyatt: Hell, no! I intended to wave it around in your face and tell you, "hey, look what all your craziness has led to."
Quinn: So, wait, Hope just had some lawyer drop this on you? That is cowardly.
Wyatt: No, it was my idea. I decided to stop kidding myself. Don't you think it's about time? I walked up to your door, and I thought to myself... [Sighs] "I'm gonna stop blaming you and making you feel bad."
Quinn: No...
Wyatt: Just...
Quinn: Sweetheart, you're right. No, you're right to blame me.
Wyatt: Stop talking, please! You're seriously off-center. You know that, right? And I get it. I know how desperate and nuts you make yourself sometimes, that you'll do and say just about anything to get what you want. But the one thing that we don't admit to ourselves... I'm the same. I'm you.
Quinn: Oh, no, sweetheart. Don't say that.
Wyatt: I couldn’t... I couldn't understand why the world just wouldn't give me the one thing that I wanted. So I...I chased Hope. I...begged her. I flattered her. And I tricked her. And I stretched the truth. And I lied to her. And she loved me. But just not the same way that I loved her. And when she decided to stay, I knew that it wasn't for me. But I didn't care 'cause she was close, you know? But then I finally understood one thing. I am my mother's son.
Woman: Thanks, everybody, for another fantastic meeting. Oh, and just remember. By being here, you've agreed that whatever you hear and whoever you see in this room is kept on the strictest confidence. Have a good day, everyone. Keep coming back.
All: It works if you work it.
[Indistinct conversations]
Kris: Everything from the stipulated judgment that we negotiated remains. Because it's uncontested, the only area of concern is financial. Caroline's attorney, she reaffirmed that because neither party wants spousal support...
Rick: We're good.
Kris: Of course, there's a six-month waiting period from the date here when the papers were served for the divorce to be final. Otherwise, you're done.
Rick: Well, "done" is what we want it to be.
Maya: I'm sure you understand. It's a big moment in our relationship.
Nicole: Absolutely.
Maya: And we just want to celebrate.
Nicole: It's such a big house. You could have a family of five living here that you've never seen before. No, two families of five. I can stay out of your way, no problem.
Maya: Really, Nicole? You're really gonna fight me on this?
Nicole: I'm not fighting. Life is compromise.
Maya: Go to the movies.
Nicole: You know, Rick likes me. He's not the one who always wants me out of the way.
Maya: Rick treats everyone with kindness and respect.
Nicole: Whatever. I just know he likes me. Maybe he wants me to be part of your celebration. I'm family.
Maya: This is a perfectly reasonable request. So do whatever you have to do to be wherever you need to be. I'm not asking you. I'm telling you.
Nicole: And I'm telling you that I'm not going to be swept under the rug just because you're ashamed of me.
Quinn: Of course I'll put it in the safe for you.
Wyatt: Thanks.
Quinn: [Sighs] Has Hope responded? Are you thinking about telling Liam?
Wyatt: Doesn't matter. It's gonna be public record.
Quinn: Yeah, but does that guy read anything but fashion magazines and tofu times?
Wyatt: He'll probably find out from Brooke. Kind of figured she should hear it from me. Which is probably a mistake.
Quinn: If she criticized you in any way --
Wyatt: Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom! Nothing like that, okay? But she was...lonely. It was kind of sad.
Deacon: I can't believe that you're at this meeting. This is crazy.
Brooke: What are the chances?
Deacon: Why -- you know, I'm happy. You came at the right time. I mean, at least you're not letting your life go down the toilet.
Brooke: No?
Deacon: Not like mine did. You gonna be okay?
Brooke: At least I'm showing some interest.
Deacon: Just -- just don't drink today, all right? I-I won't either.
Brooke: One day at a time.
Deacon: Come on, I'm serious. Look, if you feel like you're gonna reach for the bottle, just...just call me.
Brooke: Can't I just throw away the wine opener instead?
Deacon: No, that -- no, you can’t. That's not -- can't do that. I'm serious. Look, if you feel like you're gonna do it, just call me. And I'll do the same. I'll call you.
Brooke: Why would you do that? I don't even know what I'm doing.
Deacon: It's kind of nice having a friend who has such low expectations of me.
Rick: Well, that wasn't so bad.
Carter: No regrets?
Rick: I'm sorry that I hurt her.
Carter: Really?
Rick: I'm sorry that I hurt her so bad.
Carter: Well, nobody died. Caroline fell to pieces, but she swept them all up.
Rick: I just... you know, if it hadn't been -- never mind.
Carter: There's still time.
Rick: No. I loved her. It broke my heart to lose her. But this is for the best.
Maya: Why would I be ashamed of you? I hardly know you. And plus, you're beautiful and more educated.
Nicole: Then let's agree. I have just as much right to be here as you do.
Maya: No. No, Nicole. I live here. This is my home. You are a guest, temporarily, until you find another place to stay.
Nicole: I think I found it.
Maya: No.
Nicole: Let's ask Rick.
Maya: You will do no such thing. You have taken advantage of his generosity for long enough. So let's go apartment hunting tomorrow. I am happy to front you first and last month's rent and deposit.
Nicole: I'm not going out. And I'm not moving out.
Maya: I appreciate a girl who knows how to stand up for herself. I wish that I had known how to do that when I was your age. But this is a fight you can't win.
Nicole: Want to bet? I'm not leaving. And you know why.
