Brooke: It never gets old.
Bill: Mm. Well, enjoy it while you can. If Katie gets her way, it's gonna belong to someone else soon.
Brooke: [Sighs] Maybe she'll change her mind about selling.
Bill: You don't really believe that, do you?
Brooke: I'd like to. She was just hurt. She's lashing out.
Bill: She's playing dirty, Brooke. My house, my jet, my yacht, my company. And that's bad enough. But Will? Shutting me out of my son's life? That's a dangerous road Katie doesn't want to go down.
Katie: No, Bill will not be back as C.E.O. I am running the company now. I'm sorry you feel that way. The door will always be open if you change your mind.
Hope: That didn't sound good.
Katie: A print advertiser bailed.
Hope: A big one?
Katie: Big enough. It's fine. We need to get our readers online. That's where the real profits are.
Hope: That's the spirit.
Adele: Sorry to interrupt but you should leave for your doctor's appointment.
Katie: Oh, thank you, Adele.
Adele: No problem.
Hope: Is everything okay?
Katie: Yeah, it's just an exam.
Katie: [Chuckles] I was gonna call Bill. He always goes with me to my appointments.
Hope: I'll go with you.
Katie: No, it's okay. It's just an exam.
Hope: I will go with you. I'm sure your competent enough, Katie, but I want to go.
Katie: I'm sure you have better things to do, Hope.
Hope: Will you please just say, "thank you, Hope"?
Katie: Thank you.
Wyatt: Wow! So you know a lot about jewel heists, huh?
Charlie: I've got to. It's my business. You know, a good jewel thief can waltz in and waltz out before you know what hits you.
Charlie: You need a top-notch professional like me that knows all the angles.
Wyatt: I hear you. Yeah. Tell me more.
Charlie: '02, the Hague, major exhibit. Diamonds. Magnificent specimens. Well, the thieves hit late Sunday night. Want to know why?
Wyatt: Museum's closed on Monday?
Charlie: How could you possibly know that?
Wyatt: It's on the internet.
Charlie: Yeah. Well, at any rate, the theft went undetected for 24-plus hours. And the thieves got 6 of the 28 display pieces.
Wyatt: Worth how much?
Charlie: 12 million smackaroos. But here's the deal. 24-hour guards, 24-hour surveillance cameras, motion sensors, and... the cases that held the most valuable items? Hmm? Reinforced glass.
Wyatt: How the hell did --
Charlie: Well, nobody knows. No evidence of tampering. Just a smashed window leading in and the empty cases.
Wyatt: Would have had to have been an inside job, right?
Charlie: Well, of course it was an inside job. That's where the jewels were.
Wyatt: Yeah --
Charlie: What I'm trying to tell you is how clever these thieves can be.
Charlie: They come in, you don't even know they're there, and they're gone. Now, you think you're talking to a soccer mom? You could be talking to a guy in drag. That is lovely material, by the way. Love to go on chatting, but I think I need to get back to work.
Hope: You haven't been keeping any secrets, have you?
Katie: [Scoffs] Thanks to my husband and my sister, my life is an open book.
Hope: I'm talking about your heart. No medical conditions you haven't talked about?
Katie: Other than the fact that it's broken? Sorry. I don't want to sound bitter.
Hope: You're hurt and you're angry. You have every reason.
Katie: It's just that things keep reminding me. I mean, today's Halloween, right? Bill should be here. He should be helping Will get dressed and taking us trick-or-treating, and instead, he's in Aspen with your mother.
Dr. Patrick: Hello, Katie. So, how have you been since the last time I saw you?
Katie: Um, well, I've been under some stress. My marriage has had some issues, and I've recently taken on a new job.
Hope: Huge -- she's running Spencer Publications.
Dr. Patrick: Well, let's run some tests and see how you're holding up.
Brooke: Everything is still so raw for Katie. She's nowhere close to accepting our relationship. But to be fair, that's understandable.
Bill: Understandable? This all was her idea.
Brooke: But it wasn't her reality until now. I know being patient isn't your strong suit but just relax, give Katie a little more time, and maybe she'll come around.
Bill: And we'll just be one big happy family, huh?
Brooke: Well, it could happen. If Katie accepts us, so will Hope.
Bill: Listen... I'm not oblivious to what this..."us" is costing you.
Brooke: It's been a challenge. But to not be with you, that's unthinkable.
Quinn: I never get tired of looking at this beauty. Wish we could keep it.
Charlie: Ah -- a little too close, miss.
Quinn: It's okay, Charlie. It's my mother. She's the reason why this diamond's even here in the first place.
Charlie: Sorry. I didn't mean to offend, ma'am. Can't be too careful.
Quinn: Well, you only offended when you called me "ma'am."
Quinn: You, uh...expecting trouble?
Charlie: It's Halloween. Costumes. Sure, they might be in here for trick or treat, but they also might be here for this sweet treat.
Wyatt: [Laughing] Love this guy!
Quinn: [Chuckles] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, that's the guy that we hired to guard Ricardo's priceless diamond?
Quinn: Come on. For a security guard, this guy is... what's his name?
Quinn: Charlie's not very intimidating. Aren't you a bit concerned?
Wyatt: Well, I was for a minute, but then I realized... he's the perfect man for the job.
Bill: Oliver, how you doing?
Oliver: Mr. Spencer, sir. Nice to see you again, Brooke.
Brooke: Good to see you.
Oliver: First climb?
Brooke: Very exciting.
Oliver: Sir, I've got to ask -- you gonna be back running Spencer Publications again anytime soon?
Bill: I'm working on it.
Oliver: Don't get me wrong -- Katie, she's a sweetheart. It's just not the same.
Bill: She lacks my charm and unique personal touch, does she?
Oliver: Something like that.
Bill: Well, I appreciate your loyalty, Oliver. Now, what do we have on tap for today?
Oliver: You guys are gonna climb in two teams. Brooke, you'll be with Ramona, and you'll be with Othello.
Bill: What about you? You're not joining us?
Oliver: Just for the hike. The only rocks I like are in my gin and tonics.
Oliver: So, I know you want to solo this climb, but I strongly advise against it.
Bill: I'm good to go. Thanks for making the arrangements.
Oliver: Anytime, sir. I'll see you two on the trail.
Brooke: [Breathes deeply] Well, after all that training and waiting and anticipation... it's finally here.
Bill: Second thoughts?
Bill: You know today's Halloween, right?
Brooke: Yeah, I know.
Bill: Yeah, I was really looking forward to dressing Will up, putting him in his costume, take him trick-or-treating. Want to see his little face light up when he sees the other kids. But no. Katie wouldn't allow it.
Brooke: R.J. loves Halloween just about as much as Christmas.
Bill: Have you talked to him lately?
Brooke: Yeah, I Skyped him earlier.
Bill: How's he doing?
Brooke: He loves boarding school. But I miss him.
Bill: I know you do. But at least he's out of town. My son's 15 minutes away, and I have to miss him because his mother is trying to make me miserable. You know, so many fathers don't give a damn. And here I want to be an involved parent, but I can't be because his mother doesn't approve of us, so she makes a unilateral decision to keep him from me. How am I supposed to put up with this? I mean, a year? Two years? Until he's old enough to make his own decision? What's wrong?
Brooke: What was that? I think I heard a noise. Do you have bears?
Bill: Bears? What?
Brooke: Yeah, yeah, I think I heard a bear.
Bill: You did not hear a bear.
Brooke: I did. I'm gonna go check.
Bill: No, no, no. No, no. I mean, if you actually think there's a bear, I'm gonna go check.
Brooke: No, no, no. You're gonna sit down and you're gonna finish your dinner... and I'll be right back.
Pam: After sampling your delicious brownies...
Pam: ...I just thought that I'd return the favor. Fresh-baked this morning. Go ahead. Try it.
Charlie: [Clicks tongue] Graham-cracker crust. Sea salt. And a European-style butter.
Pam: You -- you are really good.
Charlie: Want a tip?
Charlie: Meyer's lemon. They're very, very, very sweet. Or, as the French say, "dolce vita."
Charlie: It reduces the natural tartness of the lemon so you don't have to use as much sweetener.
Pam: Who are you?
Charlie: Oh, stop. I'm just a regular guy... with some extraordinary talent.
Dr. Patrick: Sorry that took so long, but I wanted to thoroughly review the test results.
Hope: Is Katie okay?
Dr. Patrick: She is remarkable.
Katie: So the anti-rejection drugs are...?
Dr. Patrick: You are a living miracle.
Katie: [Chuckles] That's -- that's wonderful. Thank you.
Dr. Patrick: And your heart is in excellent condition.
Katie: I just -- I so wanted to be here to watch my son grow up.
Dr. Patrick: Well, you keep doing what you're doing and your son will have his mother around for a long time.
Katie: Thank you, Dr. Patrick.
Dr. Patrick: Always nice to deliver good news.
Hope: Not just good news. The best news.
Katie: Yeah. Oh, gosh. Uh... I try not to -- to get worked up and upset at these things, but you never know what the results are gonna be, and... I just so want to be there for my son now that Bill is -- is gone. Gosh, I just never thought that I would be in this position, you know? I mean, a year ago, I thought that we would be... talking about having another baby -- you know, a little brother and sister for Will. That's the life that I wanted. That's the life that I -- I counted on. [Sniffles] Guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Hope: Katie... you deserve so much better than Bill Spencer.
Katie: The trouble is, he's the only one I want.
Brooke: Bill, help! There is a bear! [Roars]
Bill: [Laughing] Wow. You look...
Bill: Uh, no, that's not where I was going.
Bill: Mm... fierce.
Brooke: Oh, I like it. You want to hibernate?
Bill: Oh, all winter long.
Brooke: [Chuckles] Happy Halloween.
Bill: It's definitely getting better.
Brooke: It's only going to improve.
Bill: You are really something.
Brooke: I just wanted to remind you of the decision we made.
Bill: You know, I have been a little bit of a bear myself, right?
Brooke: Yeah, you have.
Bill: Grumpy. Yeah, distracted.
Brooke: Oh, yeah.
Bill: But don't think I lost sight of what you mean to me. I'll never doubt my love for you, Brooke. It's solid and sure. It's constant. It's fact.
Wyatt: Another triumphant day at the boutique.
Hope: People still lined up to see the diamond?
Wyatt: Yep. They're dropping much cash on the way out.
Hope: I like it.
Wyatt: You're gonna like it a whole lot more. This noise that we're making all over the world? Well, it's about to get much louder.
Hope: Why -- are you mounting some kind of secret global offense?
Wyatt: Let's just say I have my ways.
Hope: Yeah, I've noticed.
Wyatt: You're flirting with me.
Hope: Sue me.
Wyatt: Uh, Hope, there is a whole lot more things that I would rather do than sue you.
Hope: [Laughs] Good night, Wyatt.
Wyatt: Good night.
Quinn: You know I respect your instincts, um, but are you sure that Charlie can keep the diamond safe?
Wyatt: Actually, I was about to ask Eric to fire him. But then I came up with a plan.
Quinn: I knew it. I could see that look in your eyes.
Wyatt: It's a good idea that'll take Hope's line and our jewelry into a much more successful position, okay?
Quinn: Yeah. Tell me.
Wyatt: I can't. It's too risky.
Quinn: Should I be nervous?
Wyatt: No. No, I -- it's -- I think I can pull it off, okay?
Quinn: Okay, great. Now I'm nervous.
Quinn: Wyatt, listen to me. We have had two lives -- before Forrester and after Forrester. Which one do you prefer? Exactly my point. Business is through the roof, we've got money flowing in, you finally have a chance with Hope, and I have a chance with Eric, the nicest man that I have ever met.
Quinn: Now, I'm not faulting your ambition because that is what got us here. But I am begging you, Wyatt -- look at me. Look at me. Look at me. Don't blow what we've got going on.
Wyatt: This much I can tell you, Mom. Blowing it is not part of the plan.
Katie: What's all this?
Bill: We're getting away. Going on a climb.
Katie: You and Brooke?
Bill: Yes. In Aspen. I haven't been able to free-climb for years, but now there are no restrictions on me. [Grunting]
[Cell phone rings]
Brooke: Got to check --
Bill: No, no, no, no, no.
Brooke: Let me just... oh, no. It's Katie.
Brooke: Hi, Katie.
Katie: Listen, I know. I'm probably interrupting.
Brooke: Oh, no. No. What -- what's going on?
Katie: I have a bad feeling about this. You and Bill climbing that mountain and him free-climbing? Please don't do this.
Brooke: Bill's determined, and so am I.
Katie: For once, could you please just listen to me? It's not safe. Talk him out of it. I don't want Bill up that mountain.
Bill: What did she say?
Brooke: [Sighs] She's worried about the climb.
Bill: She takes my company, she keeps me from my son, she treats me like dirt, but she's worried about the climb?
Brooke: You have been preoccupied. Even Oliver noticed. You haven't tackled a mountain in a long time. And if something really happe--
Bill: No, no "ifs." No "ifs," Brooke. We're doing it. Tomorrow, we climb.
