Steffy: Wow -- does that say "Welcome back"?
Pam: With cinnamon-nutmeg icing.
Pam: I know what you're thinking. I never ice my lemon bars, right? Well, I thought this was a special occasion, so what the heck? [Chuckles]
Steffy: A daring choice, Pam. Never afraid to take risks.
Pam: Anything for you, kid.
Taylor: Are you sure you're up for this?
Steffy: Oh, this? No, I'm not -- I'm not gonna eat this.
Taylor: Honey, I'm talking about being here. I know you don't want everybody to know you're not feeling 100%, but I can see you're in pain.
Steffy: I'm fine, Mom. I can't stay at home, feeling sorry for myself. Uh, everyone? I just want to say thank you. Liam and I -- we are trying our best to get through this, and it makes a huge difference having your support. It makes me believe that I can...I can feel normal again.
Liam: She is not gonna like the way she's coming off in this interview.
Marco: I understand your concern, but it's what she said.
Liam: Marco, no. Look -- strike this, and get rid of the thing about the dog, and then maybe she'll look halfway decent and continue to give us exclusives, okay?
Liam: All right. [Sighs]
Bill: Well, well, well. Look at you. Remember how nervous you were when I appointed you editor? Look at my boy now, huh?
Liam: I found a groove.
Bill: Yes, you have...at work, at home. Don't change a thing.
Liam: I will never feel about anyone the way that I feel about you, and I will spend the rest of my life wondering what could have been.
Hope: We would have had a beautiful life and beautiful children. That's what I believe. It's what I don't want to stop believing.
Brooke: Hiding out?
Hope: Uh, no. Should I be?
Brooke: It depends. Do you want to see Steffy?
Hope: She's here?
Brooke: I saw her going into Eric's office earlier.
Hope: Oh, that's...that's -- I mean, that's good. I mean, that means she's doing better, right?
Brooke: Pretending to.
Hope: [Sighs] I feel awful. I never wanted this, but it does change things.
Steffy: Thanks, Mom.
Pam: But, wait -- you know, not even a pie?
Teresa: Not that I --
Pam: No, certainly, you've made a pie before, right?
Teresa: No. Not that I can think of.
Pam: Okay, well, that settles it. [Chuckles] You're gonna come over to my place, and we're gonna have an old-fashioned baking party. How about tonight?
Teresa: Um, uh --
Thomas: Well, actually, you can't 'cause, see, we have that strategy meeting.
Teresa: Maybe another time?
Pam: Oh, I know. How about Saturday? 'Cause, you know, we don't have to work the next day, so that would be...
Pam: [Sighs] Where -- where is Donna? I mean, she never answers the phone. I'm so sorry. I've got to go get that. We'll -- we'll talk later.
Thomas: Don't worry about her. She's always trying to get people to join her cooking club. Just -- whatever you do, avoid eye contact and never mention crocheting.
Steffy: Stick by Thomas. He'll teach you everything you need to know.
Teresa: Well, I'll do that. [Chuckles] I have to get to a fitting. I'll sneak out now while Pam's on the phone.
Thomas: You're learning fast.
Teresa: I'm glad you're back. So sorry about your loss.
Steffy: Thank you.
Thomas: See you soon.
Steffy: She likes you.
Thomas: No. I don't know.
Steffy: She was at your surf party, right?
Thomas: Yes. She was.
Steffy: If I just stayed home...
Steffy: ...This never would have happened. This pain that I'm feeling -- it's...it's not just me but what I've put Liam through -- all because I got on that bike.
Liam: I don't suppose this is your not-so-subtle way of reminding me I'm still married?
Bill: No, you don't need reminding. It's obvious you adore your wife. Don't suppose Hope's come sniffing around?
Liam: Yeah. She has.
Bill: Probably telling you all the things she thinks you want to hear. Maybe tried to kiss you. Well, get used to it. You're a Spencer, and women are gonna throw themselves at you, which is generally not an issue... [Sighs] ...Unless you care about the woman...
Bill: ...In which case, you have to check yourself. Be careful, Liam.
Dayzee: Hey, you doing okay?
Steffy: Yeah. I just...I just wanted to get home, you know? Liam was making dinner, and I just thought, "hey -- get on the motorcycle and zip through traffic." And I never should have.
Marcus: Hey, stop, okay? Don't do that. Look forward. Now, you have family and friends here. We're here for you, okay?
Dayzee: You know you can call us if you need anything.
Steffy: Thank you. Thank you.
Marcus: It's really good to see you back here. Place isn't the same without you, Stef.
Hope: [Sighs] I mean, Liam does have very, you know, deep feelings for Steffy. Who knows? Maybe...maybe they would have gotten together without the pregnancy. It could happen. It's possible. Okay, as much as Liam cares about Steffy, the only reason he married her is because of the baby. But it's only natural, right? I mean...I mean, you created a life with somebody. How do you not give in to those feelings -- you know, that desire to be together? That's...that's got to be powerful, right?
Brooke: Um, yes. Very.
Hope: Yeah. I mean, I can understand it. You know, there's...a baby growing inside you, and you love the father. You...you want to make a family that...that works, and, I mean, even Bill...
Hope: Having Will really strengthened his bond with Katie, you know? It got them through some tough times.
Brooke: Oh. [Sighs] Yeah. Right.
Hope: You know, when Katie had Will, it really made me think about, you know, the future kids that I might have with Liam. You know, a little Spencer-Logan baby. But Steffy got pregnant instead. You know, and Liam felt a responsibility to be the father that he never had, and I totally -- I get that. But that's not there anymore. Who knows? Maybe one day, there could be another little Spencer-Logan baby.
Bill: When times get tough, it's easy to wonder, "what if?" I know all about convincing yourself the grass is always greener. Well, it isn't. You made a choice based partly on a pregnancy, but don't start believing that was your only reason. I mean, when that bitch Amber had us believing that she was carrying your kid, did you want to run and marry her? No. No, of course you didn't. When you found out Steffy was pregnant with your child, you didn't think twice about it, did you? And what does that tell you? Your marriage is based on more than a baby. And I hope you'll have one one day. In fact, I hope you have a whole busload. The world is a better place if there are more Spencers in it.
Bill: But that isn't what holds you and Steffy together, Liam.
Liam: You know, she wants to start trying again. Right away.
Liam: It's important to her.
Bill: You're her husband. Makes it important to you. You know, I think this is a good thing. It'll help in her recovery. And it'll help in yours -- move you back in the right direction.
Liam: I just -- I want to feel sure, you know, before trying for another kid.
Bill: A little late to be questioning that, don't you think?
Liam: [Scoffs] Yeah, but I am. I mean, you -- you think about the mother of your children -- you know, the one who's supposed to be teaching them all these morals and values, and --
Bill: No, no, no, no, no, no. Come on. Please -- I'm gonna be sick. Are -- are you back to this deluded image that you have of Hope again?
Liam: No, I'm not, and I'm not even implying anything about Steffy, either, but they do make different choices, Dad. I mean, listen, one day, Hope is gonna get married, and she's gonna get pregnant, and you can be damn sure she's not gonna get on a freaking motorcycle.
Bill: No. No, she won't. You know what she'll be doing? She'll be, uh -- she'll be -- she'll be in a rocking chair, and she'll be rocking and knitting and rocking and knitting. Are you kidding me?! Come on! Come on, Liam! Steffy likes to ride. She is spontaneous. She is adventurous. Now, don't kid yourself because those are some of the reasons you fell in love with her, and you know that. [Slams hand] You know what? From this moment forward, right now, right now, you're not gonna blame Steffy anymore for being a woman who takes action, who wants to live this life. Don't blame Steffy for being who she is -- a Spencer.
Steffy: Everyone's being so nice.
Taylor: Why shouldn't they be?
Steffy: Welcoming me back like I'm some kind of hero. I'm not.
Taylor: Honey, everyone wants you to know that they care about you. They respect you, and they're glad you're okay.
Thomas: Nobody blames you, Steffy.
Steffy: I caused this. I could have stayed at your house. I could have...I could have handled Hope, but no. No -- I had to go see Liam. Selfish. That's what everybody means underneath "welcome back" and "are you okay?"
Taylor: No. No. That...that is not true. Nobody thinks that. Especially not Thomas and me.
Steffy: I don't know what you think of me. I don't know what I think of myself.
Taylor: [Sighs] Oh, sweetheart.
Steffy: [Inhales deeply] [Sighs] Oh, God.
Hope: I'm sorry. I sound so insensitive.
Brooke: No, you don't.
Hope: Yeah, I do.
Brooke: You were robbed...
Brooke: ...Of an entire life with Liam -- marriage, children. It's not insensitive to wonder if it could possibly still happen.
Hope: Well, if Steffy has her way, I won't even have a chance to wonder. [Sighs]
Hope: She wants to get pregnant again right away, according to Taylor.
Brooke: That would be the worst thing for them -- to rush into another pregnancy.
Hope: That's what she said, and she warned me to stay away from Liam.
Brooke: I can't believe this. How could Taylor go along with that? She is a psychiatrist, and she's Steffy's mother.
Hope: Look, I-I would never dream of breaking up a family. You know, and if Liam -- if he wants to stay with Steffy and try for another child, then... okay, but I don't think that's what he wants. I know that right now, he has to be with Steffy, and I told him that I understand they need time to grieve.
Brooke: You said that to him?
Hope: Yeah, of course. They're...they're suffering, and he needs to be there for Steffy, and he will, but after a while, he can step back and look at his life. Mom, without a pregnancy to consider, he can choose the future that he wants and who he wants to live it with. [Sighs]
Taylor: I saw Hope leaving.
Brooke: You were looking for me?
Taylor: Well, Steffy's back at work, trying to get her life back to normal, and, well, would you continue to encourage Hope to give Steffy her space?
Brooke: I feel for Steffy and Liam. This is a very difficult time for them, and the last thing they need is any interference from us.
Taylor: What exactly does that mean?
Brooke: Hope told me what you're doing -- pushing them to try for another baby.
Taylor: Supporting. I'm not pushing.
Brooke: How could you possibly think that that is a good idea?
Bill: Your wife needs you, Liam, more than ever.
Liam: I know. I know, Dad, and I need her, too. I mean, we lost a baby, for crying out loud. The best way to get through this is together, but -- but why am I feeling this way? I mean, how is it possible that I can be married to somebody like Steffy, somebody as perfect and wonderful and beautiful as Steffy, and still have thoughts about leaving her? How is that --
Liam: No. No, not "exactly," Dad. It's because of Hope. I mean, this girl was my first love. And guess what. She's still here.
Hope: Hi. I heard you were back.
Hope: Um, how are you?
Steffy: I'm coping.
Hope: I'm sorry. No one should ever have to go through this.
Steffy: Sorry enough to stay away?
Hope: From you?
Steffy: My husband. You believe the only reason he married me was because of the child, and now that it's gone... you know, you're probably calculating how much time to give -- one week, two. How long does a Logan let a couple grieve before she makes her move?
Hope: I think this is a little unfair.
Steffy: Talk about fair after you've lost a child.
Hope: Steffy, I'm not trying to argue with you. I know how much pain you're in.
Steffy: But you can't help but wonder how you might benefit. This is your chance to prove what kind of woman you are.
Hope: Steffy, if Liam chooses someone --
Steffy: He chose me, and you need to accept that. Let's not make the same mistakes our mothers made, wasting so many years clinging to something, all these broken dreams. It wasn't the pregnancy that brought us together, Hope. It was love. And now my child is gone. My baby is dead. My loss, Liam's loss is not some opening for you. You need to respect my life. He's my husband. So you respect my marriage.
