Donna: Brooke, are you sure? You told me you were starting menopause.
Brooke: It's not menopause. I'm pregnant, Donna.
Donna: And the father...is Bill, isn't it?
Bill: You do understand what I am telling you, Maya Clarisse Avant?
Maya: Sounds like you're threatening me, Mr. Spencer.
Bill: Oh, "Threat." Threat is an ugly word. Itís...negative. I reject negativity. I'm giving you a chance. I'm giving you an -- say it with me -- an opportunity.
Maya: An opportunity?
Bill: Yes! To keep your job here at Forrester, to keep your freedom, to not be exposed for who you are.
Maya: And just who do you think I am?
Bill: I think you are a woman with secrets, and were those secrets to be revealed, your life here would change dramatically. You have done things. Nobody around here knows what those things are, and we can keep it that way if you stay away from Rick Forrester.
Rick: Thanks for the call. Yes, it was a great success. We're very proud of Caroline. Well, thank you again. It's all true. You put on one hell of a fundraiser.
Rick: Uh, 20% team, 80% you.
Caroline: You're so sweet. You've been doing that a lot lately.
Caroline: Pulling away and keeping a safe distance. It's not that I'm complaining. The last thing I want to be is needy.
Rick: You're not.
Caroline: Well, at least I got that going for me.
Rick: You know, you got a lot going for you, Caroline. I don't have to tell you that.
Caroline: No. You donít. I can be pretty full of myself at times -- brassy, arrogant, even a little bit snobby.
Rick: Snobby? You?
Caroline: I have my bads, but at least I can laugh at myself. And with all the stress that you're under, Rick, you need someone like that.
Rick: You do bring a smile to my face.
Caroline: Well, at least I'm good for something... [Chuckles] ...Besides bringing in a lot of money for cancer research, but that's easy.
Rick: For you, not anyone else.
Caroline: Well, you put on a show, and then you invite the people with the dough and charm them into writing a check.
Rick: You sure as heck did that.
Caroline: All with your help. And you were so sexy.
Rick: Did anyone bid on me?
Caroline: I kept your name off the list. I didn't want to mess up your schedule.
Rick: I appreciate that.
Caroline: I'm always taking care of you, Rick, even if you don't see it.
Rick: I do. Even with that, uh -- that gang of reporters who wanted to snag me after the show -- you really -- you really handled that well.
Caroline: We're good together. We always have been. I just want to keep it that way.
Maya: You're asking me to avoid my boss. I work for rick.
Bill: I am telling you to stay away from Rick and my niece. This is not open for discussion, Maya. You don't do what I'm telling you, and you will face the consequences.
Donna: Brooke, how could you?
Brooke: [Sighs] I don't know, Donna. It just happened.
Donna: You're in love with him -- Katieís husband. And now you're carrying his child? [Scoffs] How is this possible? How -- how could you let this happen?
Bill: You've got a good situation here, Maya.
Maya: My feelings for Rick and his for me don't concern you.
Bill: You're a spunky little thing, aren't you? Did I give you the impression this was subject to debate? It is not. You understand what's at stake here, right?
[Knock on door]
Carter: Oh, sorry. I was looking for Rick. Hey, Mr. Spencer.
Bill: How are you doing, Carter?
Carter: Hey. Uh...didn't mean to interrupt.
Bill: No, no. Not at all. Just getting to know Maya. Talking about her future here at Forrester.
Carter: She's a great addition to the team.
Bill: Yes, the team. Go, team!
Carter: Well, I'll...let you two... [Chuckles] Get back to it.
Bill: Hey, uh, I want to thank you again for officiating my son's ceremony. You did a great job.
Carter: Oh, it's my pleasure.
Bill: How's it going for you here at Forrester?
Carter: Oh, it's great. I get to work with beautiful women.
Bill: There you go. Now, that's a guy you should be taking an interest in. He's clearly taken an interest in you. And he's not dating my niece.
Rick: We've had some good times, Caroline.
Caroline: And we still can. This is just a glitch. It's a speed bump. All couples go through it. We were -- we were cruising along just fine, and everything was cool until Maya showed up.
Rick: You suddenly remember her name.
Caroline: There's nothing wrong with her. She's just not right for you.
Rick: Because she doesn't come from money? Because she doesn't come from a respected family?
Caroline: Because she doesn't enhance your life. She brings out the good nature in you, and that's commendable, but beyond that...
Rick: Beyond what?
Caroline: Okay, this is gonna sound really snobbish, but it is not meant to be, okay? You are president of Forrester Creations, a company that stands for elegance and class. The person that you are with has to be on point to perform -- the whole woman-behind-the-man and all of that. I relish that role. I was born for that role, Rick. I am good at it. You know that.
Rick: All right. You know, everything that you're saying -- it's true. You're an amazing woman. You're bright and you're energetic and you're beautiful, but that's not why you choose someone -- to make you look good, to help you sell fashion.
Caroline: I know. I know that. You choose someone because of chemistry. And we have always had that. We still do.
Donna: You haven't told Bill?
Brooke: No. I just found out.
Donna: But now, of course, Katie doesn't know.
Brooke: No, and she canít. I thought it was over, Donna, and it was. It was over. She took off her ring and she gave it back to Bill and she said she was getting a divorce and she told me that I should have him. I mean, those were her exact words.
Donna: And you thought she meant it.
Brooke: Yes. Yes. I thought she meant it.
Donna: And that's when you allowed yourself to fall in love. You know, something like this happened once before, and Hope was conceived.
Brooke: Donít. Don't go there.
Bill: Have I made myself clear?
Maya: So, what do you know?
Bill: Your entire rap sheet -- stolen car, accessory to armed robbery, gun violations left and right.
Maya: I was in the car. I didn't know it was stolen.
Bill: You were in the car when a crime was committed with a gun.
Maya: A gun that wasn't mine. I never even touched it.
Bill: Are you saying none of this happened?
Maya: I hooked up with a guy a while after I got to L.A. He was smooth and messed up. I was young and naive. He said he loved me. I believed him. After a while, I started to notice things. He had a gun. One was hidden in the car. When I found it, he said that it was just for protection, but he liked to take it out sometimes to threaten people. By that time, I was pregnant, and I tried to make it work for the baby. That was a huge mistake, and believe me, I know that. I have paid for that mistake. I did time for a crime I wasn't involved in, and I lost my child.
Bill: Yeah, I know about that. She was killed in a car accident with her adopted parents. I am genuinely sorry about that. But there's a lot that went down with you and this guy, Maya. And if it were to come out, it could get very messy for you.
Maya: I was carrying his child! I couldn't just leave. I had nowhere to go, no money.
Bill: I'm not here to judge you. I'm just here to tell you that you need to stay away from my niece's boyfriend.
Maya: I could fight every one of those charges.
Bill: Absolutely, you could. And there's nothing I admire more than a fighter. If you want to go down that road, be my guest, but you will lose your job here at Forrester. You may go back to prison. And you will definitely create a big scandal for Rick and his entire family. Now, I suspect that may be worse for you than doing some more time. But you know what? [Chuckles] Here we are, focusing on the negative again. There's a lot of positive. The good news is it's all avoidable. Caroline is my niece. Rick is her boyfriend. Stay away from him, or trouble is going to come your way.
Caroline: No. We had a-a great fundraiser. We raised so much money for a very good cause. Tomorrow, you'll see things differently. Don't give up on us, Rick. Please.
Donna: Are you gonna tell Bill?
Brooke: I don't know.
Donna: He's -- he's trying to make it work, you know, with -- with Katie. She texts me, and, uh, he blew off work, took her to lunch, spent the whole day with her.
Brooke: That's good. They're in love.
Donna: She's the happiest she's ever been in that marriage.
Brooke: They're back on track. And I am certainly not going to destroy that.
Donna: Oh, Brooke.
Bill: Am I interrupting?
Brooke: Uh, no. No. We were just talking.
Donna: You know... [Chuckles] Sister stuff. We're just teary and, uh... [Chuckles]
Bill: Everything okay?
Brooke: Yeah. Everything's -- yeah, everything's fine. So, what are you doing here?
Bill: I, um -- I came to see Caroline.
Donna: That was a huge success, that fundraiser, wasn't it?
Bill: Yeah, it was. So, why are you two so emotional?
Rick: Good. You're still here. I had that talk with Caroline.
Maya: How did it go?
Rick: [Sighs] I will get through to her.
Maya: I guess that means you didnít.
Rick: We're a couple. That's the only way that she'll see it.
Maya: She's in love with you, Rick.
Rick: But that's not who I want to be with. It's over, Maya. For me, Caroline and I are done. I want to be with you. I know that it's been hard working here with Caroline.
Maya: I-I don't want to talk about this.
Rick: I just -- I need you to trust me and believe me when I tell you that it's over. I know I've been pretty insensitive. I'm sorry. Forgive me.
Maya: Please don't blame yourself. You don't understand.
Rick: What don't I understand? Hey. Hey, I'm gonna make this right. I promise.
Maya: No promises, Rick.
Rick: All right. No promises. Actions -- actions always speak louder than words. I'm not gonna let you down, Maya. You mean too much to me.
Bill: Something's going on. Family?
Donna: It's personal. Sisters talk. They get emotional.
Bill: Is that all it is?
Brooke: Yeah, no. [Chuckles] Everything's fine, right? How's Katie?
Bill: She's fine.
Brooke: And Will?
Bill: He's good. Growing up fast. Reminds me of everything I missed with Liam.
Brooke: But you aren't missing it with Will.
Bill: No. I won't miss a moment -- not a birthday, graduation, first date. I'll be there for all of it.
Brooke: Well, you're a good father.
Bill: I try.
Donna: And a good husband.
Bill: I try there, too.
Brooke: You are.
Bill: Well, I've wondered about that at times.
Donna: Not anymore.
Bill: No, Donna. Not anymore. And a lot of that has to do with Will. He's taught me how to be a better man. 'Cause a man, uh -- a real man is there for his child. My father wasn't there for me, and I wasn't there for Liam, and even though that was no fault of my own, I'm not gonna let the same thing happen with Will. Yeah. I-I know what you're thinking. Big bad Bill talking about his progeny. But I mean it. If you bring a child into this world, well, you better be there for him...or her, as the case may be. Well, I'm gonna get going. Take care.
Donna: Oh, my God, Brooke. What are you gonna do? You heard what a child means to him. How can you not tell him?
