[Dog barking in distance]

[Insects chirping]

Danielle: What's wrong?

Katie: Oh...nothing. I just had a chill.

[Baby coos]

Danielle: Well, the baby sounds like he's doing all right.

Katie: Yeah, well, he should be in dreamland by now.

Danielle: Maybe he's just waiting for his daddy.

Katie: Well, with the way Bill and I left things, he could be waiting for a long time.

Danielle: Don't say that. No, everything is gonna be fine. You know, I know you don't like that he was drinking today.

Katie: He thinks I'm pushing him too hard, and... maybe I am. He just wants more from me than what I'm able to give him right now.

Danielle: You're a new mom. You know, babies come first, and if he doesn't get that --

Katie: I-I should be handling things better. I should.

Danielle: Katie, I so admire your willingness to accept responsibility, but Bill needs to shoulder his part in this, too. You know, I think I've gotten to know him as well as everyone else. It's beyond me how you live with him.

Katie: [Sighs] Can't imagine living without him. I hope I never have to.

Danielle: You have been good for Bill, whether he realizes that or not.

Katie: Right now, he just wants me off his back.

Danielle: Did it really get that intense?

Katie: Every time I said no, he took a shot of whiskey.

Danielle: That's mature.

Katie: Yeah. And then he gets this private text from my sister.

Danielle: The same sister he shared a kiss with in Big Bear.

Katie: Yes. And that was partly my fault. And I would've understood, if it had stopped there. I mean, Brooke needed support. Stephanie had just died in her arms. But with Brooke... she just can't stop with men. She always goes too far. And it ends in disaster.

[Insects chirping]

Brooke: [Groans] Oh, my... are you all right in there? Oh, my God. Bill? Bill!

Katie: Well, I guess Will gave up on his dad, because he's sound asleep.

Danielle: Oh. Um, I hope you don't mind. It was sitting on the coffee table.

Katie: Oh, no, not at all. I was looking at it earlier.

Danielle: I wish I could've warned you what you were getting into.

Katie: [Chuckles] Well, Karen did, but I married him anyway.

Danielle: Oh, in that -- that park across from where you grew up, right?

Katie: Yeah. Not exactly the "No expense spared" wedding that Bill had in mind.

Danielle: Yeah, but it looks beautiful.

Katie: It was beautiful. Brooke says that if he's vulnerable to her, it's because I'm not giving him what he needs.

Danielle: It's a good thing you told Brooke to back off.

Katie: She thinks I'm insecure.

Danielle: You're insecure? Why -- because you're worried that something could happen between her and your husband? I don't think that's insecurity, Katie. I think it's knowing Brooke's history and not wanting to see it repeat itself with your baby's father. You have a family to protect.

Katie: [Scoffs] It's ironic. Bill's always talking about protecting his family, no matter what. You know, on your wedding day... all you can think about is how happy you are... and how much you want that feeling to last forever. But life doesn't always work out that way. [Sniffles] So then you think, "Well... whatever happens, we'll get through it together." And we have. We will.

Danielle: And you won't accept anything less. And if Brooke hasn't understood that before today, then --

Katie: Well, I didn't pull any punches.

Danielle: Well, according to what you told me, neither did she. I mean, telling you that if you don't give him what he wants, you'll lose him? Maybe that's her way of trying to help, but --

Katie: She says she doesn't see what I see.

Danielle: Maybe she can't. If Brooke has developed feelings for Bill, can she really back away, even if you're telling her to?

Brooke: [Gasping] Bill? Bill! Oh, my God. Bill, can you hear me? Bill, wake up. Bill!

Bill: [Inhales slowly]

Brooke: [Gasps] Oh, thank God. Thank God!

Bill: [Groans softly]

Brooke: Are you okay?

Bill: What happened?

Brooke: We were in a car accident. [Voice breaking] Are you hurt?

Bill: [Grunts]

Brooke: Oh, my God. I need to get you to a doctor.

Bill: No.

Brooke: You need to see a doctor.

Bill: No, I'm --

Brooke: Bill, please.

Bill: I'm okay. I think I -- [Groans] I think I just pulled a stomach muscle or something. [Breathing heavily]

Brooke: Okay.

Bill: Get this off me. [Grunts] Thanks.

Brooke: Have you been drinking?! Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Okay. I got to get you out of here. Just...move over to the other seat and let me -- let me drive.

Katie: Brooke doesn't feel like she's crossed any lines.

Danielle: Even after what you walked in on, in the showroom?

Katie: Apparently, I over-analyze everything, and I'm "Difficult." And if I would just flirt with my husband and let him have a drink every now and then --

Danielle: Well, we know what that leads to -- my daughter getting pushed over a balcony. I still have nightmares about that.

Katie: It should've been a wake-up call. But after Bill's performance in his office earlier --

Danielle: He's a spoiled brat! At least, he's behaving like one. [Sighs] Look -- it's one thing if he were a bachelor and didn't have to answer to anybody. But he has a wife and a child. You and Will come first.

Katie: I just want him to come home... wherever he is.

Bill: [Groans]

Brooke: Okay. Nice and slow.

Bill: [Grunts, exhales sharply] I should be the one helping you.

Brooke: I'm fine, really.

Bill: You could've been seriously injured, Brooke, or worse...because of me.

Brooke: We were both very lucky. Let's get you inside. Come on.

Bill: Okay. [Groans]

Danielle: He's probably still in his office, licking his wounds.

Katie: [Sighs] It's his voicemail. Hey. It's me. Listen. I -- I don't like the way we left things earlier, so... how about a truce? Um, if Alison can't drive you home, then -- anyway, just call me, please, before you come home.

[Katie remembering]

Katie: You've changed me. Almost from the moment we first met, I felt different... like my eyes were opening for the first time. I never could've imagined that a tough guy like you could bring so much love and joy into my life, but that's exactly what you've done. And I want you to know that I accept you for who you are... that I love you as much for your flaws as I love you for your honesty and your loyalty and your strength.

Bill: You have brought... so much to my life. But perhaps most significantly, you have made me want something that I never cared very much about. You've made me want to be a part of a family. I love you, Katie.

[People cheering]

Bill: You sure you're okay?

Brooke: Yep. My airbag saved me.

Bill: I shouldn't have been driving.

Brooke: Why were you?

Bill: [Sighs] I was at the end of my rope. Katie was just all over me again.

Brooke: I know. You called me, remember?

Bill: I called you? Oh. That's right. That's right. I wanted -- I wanted you to come to the house so the three of us could hash it out. I should've let Alison drive me.

Brooke: Alison knew that you were drinking?

Bill: Yeah. She offered to drive me. I said no. So she called my driver. But I didn't wait for him. It was just a couple of shots.

Brooke: Just a couple?

Bill: I shouldn't have been drinking and driving. I-I don't -- I don't drink and drive. And I never will again.

Brooke: I really need you to see a doctor.

Bill: No. No doctors.

Brooke: Well, I can always have Bridget come over.

Bill: No. Brooke, the less people that know about this, the better.

Brooke: Okay. Well, at least I'll get an ice pack for your bruising.

Bill: Hey. I put your life at risk tonight. Both our lives. It was reckless and stupid... and a huge wake-up call for me.

[Insects chirping]

Katie: When I married Bill, I vowed not to try to change him. But he knows his drinking bothers me, and he had a lot at the office today.

Danielle: You know what, Katie? No, Bill doesn't get drunk, but he drinks during the day, and, you know, he's really lucky that he hasn't gotten a D.U.I. guys like him, you know, that are driven and successful and stubborn, they sometimes think the rules don't apply to them. And then they start taking risks.

Katie: Well, in business, sure, but -- so, you think just because he knows not to drive while intoxicated doesn't mean that he won't... or hasn't?

Officer Lario: Lieutenant Baker. It's Officer Lario. Yeah, I'm out here on Bellagio Road. There's been a traffic accident.

Lt. Baker: So? Why are you bothering me?

Officer Lario: Well, I ran the plates on the car, Sir. The car belongs to Brooke Logan Forrester.

Lt. Baker: You don't say.

Officer Lario: Yeah. The airbag's deployed. Driver's nowhere to be found.

Lt. Baker: What else?

Officer Lario: Well, Sir, there is another set of car tracks nearby. Maybe the driver called someone to pick them up.

Lt. Baker: You know I've dealt with the Forresters quite a bit over the years, right?

Officer Lario: I know that, Sir. That's why I called you. How would you like me to proceed?

Lt. Baker: I'll take it from here.

Brooke: Here you go.

Bill: Thank you. But I don't need sobering up. The accident did that.

Brooke: [Sighs] How could this happen?

Bill: [Groans] Ohh... it happened -- yeah. [Sighs] It happened 'cause Katie is pushing me too far. I know she's your sister, and you're gonna want to defend her. I get that.

Brooke: No, not always -- not after some of the things that she said to me earlier.

Bill: [Sighs] She can't keep trying to control every aspect of my life. I'm sick of it, and I've had enough.

Brooke: Did you tell her that?

Bill: Oh, she just kept going on and on. She's telling me what I can do, where I can go, who I can see. I'm a man, Brooke. And I'm not gonna put up with it.

Brooke: What did you say?

Bill: There was a bottle of Scotch. And every time she said no, I took a shot.

Brooke: Oh...

Bill: I know, I know. It was childish. It was.

Brooke: [Sighs] I can understand that you were trying to make a point, but that probably wasn't the best idea.

Bill: I feel like [Sighs] Like nothing I do makes her happy. There's nothing I can do to please her. I want my wife back, Brooke, but... I mean, she's gone. I don't know if it's the medication for her depression or -- or if she's just done with me. All I know is I want... I did something wrong and irresponsible tonight -- driving drunk, Brooke. And you saved me. Thank you.
