Maya: We are not really doing this.
Rick: Sure we are.
Maya: The Forrester boutique? Really?
Rick: It's not like they check your credit at the door.
Maya: It's Rodeo Drive. They might.
Rick: It'll be fun. Trust me. Just got to walk in there like we own the place.
Thorne: Quarterly numbers are due within the hour.
Eric: Yes, I know.
Thorne: The minute they get here, I'll bring them to the meeting.
Eric: All right, good.
Thorne: Dad? Dad. Is something on your mind?
Eric: Yes, Thorne. Look, I'm going to, uh... I'm going to inform the family, as we discussed earlier.
Thorne: I think you should. Get it out in the open. You have nothing to hide.
Eric: Thorne, you sure you're okay with this?
Thorne: [Sighs] Don't worry about me. I'm fine. I just want what's best for you.
Eric: All right.
Eric: Donna, you're early.
Donna: It's, uh, better than being... too late.
Eric: You're right. I should've been the one to tell you about my relationship with Taylor. I'm sorry you had to hear about it from Brooke.
Donna: That's sweet of you to be concerned. But you don't have to be. I'm a big girl. I understand. My Honey Bear is a man with needs. I didn't expect you to roll up into a cocoon after Stephanie died. You're moving on with Taylor... for now. But... if that should ever change, I'm here for you... ready to assist you in any way I can.
Pam: Donna. Cool it. You should be embarrassed. You look really desperate. He doesn't want you.
Eric: Oh, good, good. You're here.
Taylor: Oh, wouldn't miss it.
Eric: Good. Hi.
Brooke: I wonder who else got the memo?
Hope: Looks like everybody.
Eric: Where's Rick?
Hope: He hasn't come in yet.
Eric: All right, come on. I'll make this quick. I'm glad everyone's here. Sit down, if you will, please. I have something I want to say. Please, sit down. I asked Taylor to move in with me, and she's accepted. She's gonna be a presence in this family and in this company. I don't want to hear any gossip or speculation about it, all right? My relationship with Taylor is not gonna be a subject around the water coolers.
Brooke: It's going to get out.
Eric: It's not a secret, Brooke. It's not open for discussion.
Taylor: Eric and I don't expect everyone to be thrilled about our relationship. I understand sensitivities to the fact that Stephanie hasn't been gone very long.
Brooke: No, she hasn't.
Thorne: Sorry we're late.
Marcus: Yeah. Um, where's Rick?
Eric: He's not here. Do you need him?
Marcus: Well, yeah. The first-quarter numbers are in. Isn't...that why you called the meeting?
Donna: Taylor and Eric are moving in together.
Marcus: Oh. That.
Donna: You knew?
Thorne: Listen, the truth is, Dad, we have other issues we need to get into. So someone needs to get Rick in here, pronto.
Thorne: Because he'll want to see these numbers, and he won't be happy.
[Upbeat music plays]
Singer: Yeah mm, whoa, oh yeah, yeah you've stolen my affection You've stolen my affection You've got a hold of my heart A hold of my heart I'm so caught up nothing compares to how beautiful you are so I'm giving all of me to you 'cause no one loves me like you do, yeah you got my attention now you captured me ooh ooh, ooh ooh you got my attention now I can't take my eyes off of you you're the one I need yeah, yeah, yeah mm, come on, now You've got my attention Ooh, yeah You got my attention you got my attention Ooh You got my attention Yeah, yeah, yeah
Maya: We shouldn't be in here.
Rick: Why not?
Maya: Because we can't buy anything.
Rick: Well, not everybody who comes here does.
Maya: But we can't. This is crazy.
Rick: No. No, it's not. You can look. You can try stuff on. Come on. Don't you want to?
Maya: Of course. Everything in here is gorgeous. They're Forrester Originals.
Maya: But look, see? The way that clerk just looked at us, she knows we don't belong.
Rick: She probably thinks that you're someone famous. [Chuckles]
Woman: Welcome to Forrester boutique. Can I offer you a beverage?
Rick: Uh, no, thank you, but my friend would like to look at your gowns from your latest collection.
Woman: Right this way.
Woman 2: Mr. Forrester, we're so excited to have you here.
Rick: Hey, hey, listen, I'm trying to be a little incognito today, so you'd be doing me a huge favor if you just treat me like anybody else who just walks in off the street.
Woman 2: Yes, Sir, Mister -- Sir.
Rick: Thank you. So, how's it going over here?
Maya: I'm in heaven. Will you look at this one?
Rick: [Chuckles] Well, try it on.
Maya: What? N-n-no. No, I-I'm just looking.
Rick: No, no. Can you put this in the fitting room, please? And you know what? How about... these, too?
Maya: Are you nuts?
Rick: We're having fun, right? Queen for the day? Go. Enjoy it.
Maya: I will.
Brooke: Your brother's not answering the phone, and Madison doesn't know where he is.
Hope: Okay, um...have you tried Dayzee's? He's been spending a lot of time there.
Brooke: No, he wouldn't be there today.
Donna: Look, he knew the reports were coming out today.
Hope: He had really high hopes for them.
Thorne: And as you can see, sales are not what we expected.
Steffy: Not even close.
Thomas: Look, we miscalculated. Last quarter, all the news was about Grandma, and people started talking about Forrester like it was the past tense. That was the perfect time to launch something new.
Eric: Did you get through to Rick?
Brooke: No, not yet.
Eric: I want him here. We need to go through this report.
Steffy: Maybe if Rick let me do things the way I wanted to, our numbers would be better.
Brooke: Rick didn't stop anybody from doing their job.
Steffy: I just think we could be making a bigger impact if we announced Thomas as vice president, let everyone know things are changing around here.
Hope: Yeah, well, Rick wants to focus on tradition.
Thorne: Well, I hate to say it, but it's not working.
Taylor: Eric, it might be time to try something new.
[Upbeat music plays]
Did you see that shining passing by at the speed of sound? Better not blink or you'll miss out oh, oh, oh beautiful and amazing like a thunder and lightning strike you'll never know till she knocks you down but you feel it comin' oh, there she goes like a shooting star she got fireworks in her heart lighting up this world with a little smile she's on the rise and oh, there she goes like a shooting star she got fireworks in her heart lighting up this world with a little smile shining like a shooting Shine shine like a shooting star shine shine like a shooting star A shooting star Shine shine like a shooting star shine Shine like a shooting star
Rick: Wow. Absolutely beautiful.
Maya: Thank you so much.
Rick: They all look amazing. Mm. That -- that's the one. [Chuckles]
Maya: The gown I'm not gonna buy.
Rick: Well, but if you could...
Maya: I would walk out of here with everything I could afford.
Rick: Yeah? You liked them all?
Maya: Who wouldn't? They're Forrester’s. Look, I know you're a guy and you don't get this stuff. When you look at this and all you see is an expensive dress, but...this is a Forrester. It's so much more than that. It's -- its quality. It's -- its attention to detail. Each Forrester is a work of art. And that's how you feel when you're wearing it -- like a masterpiece.
Rick: Masterpiece. That's good. [Chuckles]
Brooke: Forrester's reputation for quality is our hallmark, and that can't change.
Eric: Absolutely not.
Thomas: Grandpa, this company was built on catering to wealthy celebrities. That's not gonna get it now. In order to survive and grow, we need to broaden our appeal. This is exactly what I've been saying. Plus, reducing our distribution and production. Look, I know Rick is supposed to be the business mind here, but it doesn't take years of experience to understand what's going on here.
Thorne: Demand is down. Costs are up.
Eric: Demand has fluctuated before.
Thomas: And you and Dad have always made changes to deal with it. Rick hasn't because he didn't see this coming.
Marcus: None of us did.
Thomas: Because Rick told us not to worry, everything was great, not to change anything. But obviously, that's not true.
Brooke: Okay, we're not gonna make any changes while Rick isn't here.
Taylor: Why not? He isn't here. He isn't answering his phone. He chose to take himself out of the loop. So if Thomas and Steffy are ready to step up and handle this challenge, then...
Steffy: And if anyone can make the best out of an unexpected situation, it's me.
Thomas: Well, we have a plan -- drop the lines that are underperforming, centralize distribution, cut back on staff, repurpose our boutiques. This is everything I wanted to do as interim C.E.O. until Rick took over and said no to everything.
Hope: Eric agreed with all of that.
Eric: I did. But maybe it's time to take another look at those ideas.
Thomas: Well, I can get a presentation ready.
Eric: Have something ready this afternoon.
Thomas: Of course.
Brooke: Eric, wait. He already presented that plan months ago, and you didn't think it was the way to go.
Eric: No, no, I didn't, but given where we are now, I think I'd like to hear that pitch again.
Brooke: Okay. So, does Rick get the same opportunity?
Eric: Well, believe me, I'd really like to hear what Rick has to say about this. Where is he?
Hope: Hey, Steffy, can we talk?
Steffy: Oh, uh, sorry. I'm kind of on a schedule. Healthy mom, healthy baby.
Hope: Good. That's really -- that's good you're taking care of yourself. Must be really hard being so busy.
Steffy: Yeah, I know. Well, I'm about to get a whole lot busier.
Hope: Yeah, that's -- that's what I wanted to talk to you about. You and Liam are having this baby. You've got a lot on your plate right now. I'm sure work isn't your main priority.
Steffy: No, I wouldn't say that.
Hope: Well, as time goes on, you might want to cut back on your workload just to avoid as much stress as possible.
Steffy: You know, it's really funny. I just -- I don't find work that stressful, you know?
Hope: I do. Seeing you here every day is torture for me. You have to realize that, right? Steffy, you have everything -- you have Liam... you're having his baby. You can at least let me have this.
Steffy: I-I'm sorry. I don't -- I don't understand.
Hope: [Sighs] I want you to go. I'm asking you to leave Forrester Creations.
Taylor: Eric, I don't want you to worry. The company's in good hands. Thomas is taking after his father, you know? He's stepping up, and he's growing as an artist and a businessman.
Eric: Yeah. Yeah, he is. He's doing really well. All right, look -- I have a meeting downstairs. Brooke, make certain that Rick has this presentation on his schedule for this afternoon, all right?
Brooke: You don't want to tell him yourself?
Eric: Well, if he has any questions, he can call Thomas.
[Door opens, closes]
Taylor: I guess we're done.
Brooke: You think this is over?
Taylor: Eric said what he has to say.
Brooke: No, he said what you wanted him to say... that you're a couple and that he wasn't going to tolerate any gossip.
Taylor: Why should he? He's the leader of this company and this family. His decisions should be respected.
Brooke: His decisions -- like the one he just made, about allowing Thomas to present his vision to the company again.
Brooke: I know what you're doing, Taylor, and I won't allow it. You are not going to push my children out of Forrester Creations.
Taylor: You don't think Eric has a reason to be disappointed in Rick's leadership? You saw the numbers. Rick wasn't even here.
Brooke: It's been one quarter. He's only been in charge a couple of months.
Taylor: Well, he's not off to a very good start, is he?
Brooke: Unlike you. You hit the ground running. One night with Eric, the next morning, you're moving in, and now you're making yourself very comfortable in his office.
Taylor: Well, I don't know. Maybe I am feeling a -- a little comfortable. I'm sort of feeling like a queen. You know what that's like. You divided and conquered your way through the whole family. You were with Eric, and you left him for Ridge. Then, ultimately, you drove Ridge out of the country. And after all your years of torture with Stephanie, you probably drove her to her grave, so you have a lot of nerve to make me feel guilty. It's a new day here, Brooke. Get used to it.
Maya: I'm back.
Rick: Tell me -- didn't that feel great?
Maya: It did.
Rick: Just like I said it would?
Maya: Yeah, it was fun. But we got to go.
Rick: You don't want to try anything else?
Maya: I have wasted enough of that clerk's time.
Rick: Come on. She's helping a potential customer.
Maya: I am not.
Rick: Well, not today, but maybe one day, when you're big and famous, you might be one of Forrester's most important clients.
Maya: I wish.
Saleswoman: Mr. Forrester, what a pleasure to see you again. Will we be putting these on your account?
Maya: Your account. Wait. Did she just call you "Mr. Forrester"?
Rick: Can you excuse me for a minute?
Saleswoman: Yes, Sir.
Maya: What's going on?
Rick: I haven't been exactly honest with you.
Maya: Who are you?
Rick: I'm Rick. I'm Rick Forrester.
Maya: No. No, I met you at Dayzee's. You were working.
Rick: I was volunteering.
Maya: You said you had another job.
Rick: President of Forrester Creations.
Maya: President? All of these people work for you? You're their boss?
Rick: Maya. Maya! Maya! Maya! Maya!
