Liam: You're not being fair. I mean, Steffy's reasons make sense. She didn't want her pregnancy to influence my decision.
Hope: Until you were making one she didn't like.
Liam: Okay, let's be honest. That whole insta-wedding that was set up outside -- that was not the result of any decision I made.
Hope: No, y-you're right. You're absolutely right about that. My mom just does these things. I was not happy about it, either. Until I started to think that it's what you wanted. Was I wrong?
Taylor: I'm going out there.
Brooke: Oh, no, you don't.
Steffy: Mom, let him be. He needs to talk to Hope first.
Taylor: Honey, what could he possibly want to say that he hasn't said yet?
Steffy: I had to learn patience. Why can't the two of you?
Brooke: It wasn't patience that brought you running here today to announce that you're pregnant with Liam's child.
Steffy: No, it wasn't. It was to save him from the trap that you set.
Rick: Hey, uh...specials. Uh...soup -- the soup today is --
Maya: You know, I'm not really hungry.
Rick: Good, because nobody told me what the soup is today.
Maya: You didn't ask at the start of your shift?
Rick: I don't have any training. I don't even know why they hired me here. [Laughs]
Maya: Well, I used to wait tables. You'll pick it up.
Rick: At some fancy French restaurant, I imagine. I see you in some classier setting.
Maya: Me too. Somehow I never quite made that happen. Had a lot of dreams, though.
Rick: Dreams can always come true.
Maya: Not always. I can't believe I'm saying all this to you. Did you drug my coffee?
Rick: Well, regardless of what you may have heard, I have even less training in that. [Laughs]
Maya: I saw some hard-boiled eggs on the counter. I'll have one of those.
Rick: I'm glad that you worked up an appetite. I'll be right back.
Rick: Is there a right way to do that?
Maya: Yeah. The way that gets the shell off.
Rick: I've never had to shell a hard-boiled egg before.
Maya: Let me guess. You were raised by a single mom.
Rick: Pretty much. Why?
Maya: Because most men who were raised by women alone have everything done for them.
Rick: That may even be true. But, you know, the thing is, Anthony, he just told me to take my break.
Maya: Oh, I can take the check whenever.
Rick: No, no, I was -- I was actually hoping that, um... maybe you could, uh... show me how?
Brooke: All I did was make it possible for Liam to finish what he started with Hope if he wanted to, and he's always said he did.
Steffy: Between getting his heart stomped on by Hope.
Brooke: She was tricked -- by her brother, Liam's father, you!
Taylor: I am so tired of hearing that. People make decisions based on bad information all the time and they learn to live with it. That's life. That's part of growing as a person, and when things don't work out, they don't just knock all the pieces off the game board. They ask questions, and they try to learn what went wrong. You daughter has a serious issue. Sometimes she lets her dignity get in the way. She thinks it's been compromised and then she slams the door shut. Well, some doors, once closed, cannot be reopened... as, I think, you would know better than anyone by now.
Liam: Marriage. The whole idea of it -- the goal of it. It's been kind of a curse for us, hasn't it?
Hope: Yeah, you're right. I always thought it would be a really safe place for us, and it never has been.
Liam: So much damage, so much grief. I don't know if there's any way to fix that.
Hope: Because you can't. But that's over. That was then. What I really want is for you to forget about fairness. Forget about what you think either of us deserves or what you think you owe for whatever mistakes were made. Start with now. Start with you. What do you want? Don't think about me or Steffy or our parents. What do you want? It's a simple question. It has a simple answer.
Rick: Wow, you know, I really feel like I should have a greater sense of accomplishment.
Maya: Yeah. Those words will be written on my tombstone. I should have done more by now. You could say I had a lot of big expectations.
Rick: There's a lot of that going around L.A.
Maya: Well, I was the smartest, most outgoing girl back in my class in Lilith.
Rick: Is that in the United States?
Maya: Near Chicago.
Maya: You know where that is?
Rick: Yeah, I've heard of it.
Maya: [Chuckles] Everyone said I could sing, I could act. If I went to L.A., I could write my own ticket. No one mentioned that every girl who was smart and outgoing from every high school in the country would also be moving here.
Rick: But there's only one of you.
Maya: Yeah, you want to hear a monologue? I got about 15 by heart. I am so ready for that audition I keep not getting.
Rick: You know what? It would be wasted on me. I'm already sold. Any leading role -- I'd hire you like that.
Steffy: I have to say... the banners and the setting -- nice touch. You should be a wedding planner. Oh, wait. You've been doing that for months.
Brooke: [Laughs] I knew that was coming.
Taylor: Well, I'm curious about something.
Brooke: Why? You already know everything about me -- or think you do.
Taylor: Well, it's this infallible faith you have in marriage. Where did that come from? You've had more marriages than you have fingers for rings, but none of them have worked out. Not for very long, anyway.
Brooke: Ridge and I were together for a very long time.
Taylor: It was more like breaking up to make up.
Brooke: You don't understand. We were together even when we weren't.
Taylor: Oh. See? Stop right there. Listen to yourself.
Brooke: Well, it's the truth.
Taylor: You're doing it again.
Brooke: Doing what?
Taylor: Making my family and my marriage just part of your romance with Ridge, that we were just some obstacle that you had to overcome. That is your real problem right there.
Steffy: And that's how Hope's thinking of me right now. And my baby. We're just gonna be a bad memory when she comes into her wedded bliss.
Brooke: That is not what she's thinking.
Steffy: You know what? I can't be angry with her. She's just doing what she saw you do so many times.
Liam: What I want?
Liam: I want too much.
Hope: No. No, you just feel trapped by what you think your choices are. Me or Steffy. Getting married today or raising a child with her. Forget about all that. Forget that. Think about now. Tell me the life that you want.
Liam: You don't think that's a little childish? A future that's all about me, me, me, me, me.
Hope: No, it's -- it's yours. Nobody else's.
Liam: It seems to me the older you get, the less it's about the life you want than the life...you can live with.
Hope: Wow. That's really sad. The future isn't bleak, Liam. It's not about settling or giving up.
Liam: It's about compromise. It's about making peace. It's about acceptance.
Hope: And what is it you have to accept? A life you're not sure you want? Or a life you do want but is a little more complicated? We can get beyond this.
Liam: Can we?
Hope: Yes! Of course we can. It's not the fairytale, you know, life we always imagined, but it's ours. We can still have it. Everything that we wished and dreamed for can still be ours. I believe that. I want you to believe it, too.
Leilani: [Scoffs] Don't strain a muscle on your first day.
Maya: It's your first day?
Rick: No. No. I've worked here a lot. Do you know when I'm supposed to take my break? [Laughs]
Maya: You better look like you're doing something. Add up my check.
Rick: Uh... [Clears throat] Okay, so, how much is $2.50 plus $1 for the egg.
Maya: Pricy cup of coffee.
Rick: Well, you know our policy, right?
Maya: I can pay. Things are a little tight right now, but I can pay. So, you an actor? 8 out of 10 waiters are.
Rick: No, but I think I'm, uh, devastating.
Maya: And humble.
Rick: [Chuckles] Touché.
Maya: You don't want to be devastating. I've been there. Start to feel like nothing can go right.
Rick: Was it a guy? Did wrong by you?
Maya: No. No one to blame.
Rick: You know, 8 out of 10 waiters in L.A. are actors. But I'm not. In fact, I like my life. Particularly the last 15 minutes.
Rick: Wow, that smile of yours... could light up every marquee on Broadway.
Brooke: Steffy, if you're trying to get a rise out of me --
Steffy: No. No, I admire your persistence. I have never seen a mother so devoted to her daughter's happiness. It's a little obsessive. Maybe you might want to talk to my mom about that.
Brooke: It's not obsessive to want what's best for your child.
Taylor: Well, I don't know about that. Kind of the length that you went through for this event, you know, the re-creating Italy and flying the priest in -- those are high-pressure tactics.
Brooke: I told you. I wasn't trying to pressure Liam.
Steffy: Of course you were. Give credit where credit is due.
Brooke: And what about you, making this pregnancy announcement? Oh, I know. You wanted to wait and give Liam some time to make up his mind and then spring this wonderful news on him, but you just couldn't wait.
Taylor: Well, I don't necessarily agree with Steffy's timing on this. I really think that she should have told Liam exactly the minute she found out she was pregnant, that what was going on.
Brooke: Right. So why now? All your noble intentions flew right out the window, right?
Taylor: How do you think Liam would have felt if he found out after you pushed him into a marriage to Hope that Steffy was carrying his child? You kind of forced her hand, Brooke. You have no one to blame but yourself.
Brooke: I didn't even know about this pregnancy.
Taylor: That's my point, isn't it?
Steffy: What is taking them so long?
Liam: You give me so much joy. And you have since the first day. You're so...good and beautiful. And you never talk just to fill space the way most people do. I mean, you mean everything that you say. [Sighs] You know, I used to imagine that love meant just wanting to be with somebody all the time, all my life, and that's true, but what I didn't expect was that love would make me want to be somebody. Somebody better, stronger, wiser, more substantial, more worthy. You asked me what I want, and you said it's a simple question with a simple answer, and you're right. I get it now. And what I want... [Sighs] ...is to be the man that you see when you look at me. And I know that that man would not walk away from a child that he conceived in love.
Rick: You're not leaving without saying goodbye?
Maya: I have eyes in my head. You're busy.
Rick: Not too busy to fill that pricy cup of coffee of yours.
Maya: Oh, I seem to be jazzed enough without it.
Rick: Uh, okay. Uh, here. Wait a minute.
Maya: No, no, no. I don't need change.
Rick: The, uh -- the tip is bigger than the bill.
Maya: Well, you have to eat, too.
Rick: They feed me here.
Maya: Well, so? You can practice at home. Boil some eggs. You do need training. Say "Thank you."
Rick: [Chuckles] Thank you. Are you gonna come back and sing?
Maya: I don't know. [Chuckles]
Rick: Are you gonna come back for anything?
Maya: It's possible.
Taylor: Oh, Eric was right. I should have told Liam the minute I found out.
Steffy: No, Mom. That's exactly what I didn't want.
Brooke: Eric? He knows?
Taylor: I had to have somebody I could talk to about this.
Brooke: You made Eric your confidante? You got his support? Oh, my God, Taylor. You think I'm an open book. You're as transparent as can be.
Taylor: Really? What am I so transparent about?
Brooke: You are not going to get Eric's shares of the company.
Steffy: Is anyone else tired of hearing about these shares?
Brooke: I know you want Thomas as C.E.O., and you want me and Rick and Hope out of there, but it's not going to happen.
Taylor: Oh, woe is me!
Brooke: You can cry on his shoulder all you want, but Eric knows that, next to him, no one's contributed more to Forrester Creations than I have.
Taylor: Brooke, more power to you. I have no interest in your job whatsoever.
Brooke: Well, you better not. Because I'm warning you, Taylor --
Steffy: Okay, duke it out, Ladies. I've had enough of this.
Taylor: Oh, me too.
Steffy: Where did they go?
Hope: [Breathing heavily]
Liam: Hope! Hey! Hope! Wait! Wait!
Liam: Aah! I just -- I wish --
Hope: No, Liam, no. I am -- I am done wishing.
Liam: Do you remember your seventh birthday?
Liam: Your seventh birthday. Do you remember it? 'Cause I do. My 10th, my 12th. All those nights that I lied awake in my bed, surrounded by all my presents, thinking, "Wow, so many people love me in my life. Why not my dad? Where is he? Why can't he be here?" We should be married. All that happiness we wanted, we would have it, and there wouldn't be anybody else for either of us, and we would grow old, and we would get sick and we'd get better again.
Liam: And maybe -- [Chuckles] Maybe we'd tell our grandchildren all about Puglia. Maybe we'd take them there. And we'd show them the place where we kissed, where we married, where we left that lock with our names on it.
Hope: Then why, Liam?
Liam: Because some things can't be undone.
Hope: [Sighs] I know that she loves you. But no one will ever love you the way that I do.
This ain't a circus or a game since we've met, we've been the same and I'm sick of spinning circles one step forward, two steps back hanging on to what we had let's get off this crazy carousel and it's hard to imagine letting this go letting you go and it's hard to remember a day without you but it is what it is I've given all that I can give jumped through hoops told the truth bent over backwards all for you come to peace with the fact that it's over I'm okay I'm okay I'm okay so tell me what's left to say oh, oh tell me what's left to say oh, oh
