[Cell phone beeps]

[Knock on door]

Bill: Hey, Kid. Katie said we should call first.

Katie: Actually, I said we shouldn't come at all. But you know your father.

Bill: Come on. What are you talking about? Steffy's been home for hours. They must've come up for air by now. Get her out here. We want to welcome her back.

Liam: She's not here.

Katie: But she was.

Bill: Son, what is it? Where's Steffy?

Brooke: Liam and Steffy had a lot to talk about tonight. You might not hear from him.

Hope: You're saying, you know, don't get my hopes up if I don't.

Brooke: I know this part's difficult -- the waiting.

Hope: Well, you know, he could be asking Steffy to move out right now. Or not. But if he does, then --

Brooke: She'll be fine. She's a survivor, just like her mother.

Taylor: I got your text.

Hope: Steffy is crazy about Liam. I mean, even if he does ask her to move out, he's gonna be hurting, and she'll be a mess.

Brooke: Breakups are painful. But there's no real commitment between those two. And the way he feels about you, I don't see it turning out any other way. And as I reminded Liam earlier, the commitment that he made with you is real. He has no bond like that with Steffy.

Liam: Can we not do this right now?

Katie: Bill, let's go. It's obviously not a good time.

Bill: Yeah. The question is, why isn't it? Talk to me, Liam.

Liam: I'm -- you know, I'm pretty much talked out.

Bill: That tells me nothing.

Liam: What do you -- what do you want, me to draw you a picture? She was here, and now she's not.

Bill: Is she coming back? Did you argue?

Liam: No, no. It wasn't like that.

Bill: Well, what was it like?

Liam: It was like, I asked her to move out. That's what it was like.

Taylor: When I saw your text that you wanted me to meet you here and not at Liam's -- what happened?

Steffy: Let's just say things could have gone better. A lot better.

Taylor: What can I do, Honey?

Steffy: Nothing, Mom.

Taylor: Steffy --

Steffy: Mom, I'm gonna be okay. Maybe not right away, but --

Taylor: Tell me everything.

Steffy: I moved back here, and Liam's still at the beach house. That pretty much says it all.

Taylor: Wait a minute. Are you telling me that Hope -- was she over there?

Steffy: No, no. She's probably on her way there, unless she stops by here to do a Logan victory dance.

Bill: You told Steffy to take a hike?

Katie: I'm sure Liam didn't put it quite that way.

Bill: I don't care how he put it. That's what it amounts to, that you and Steffy are done.

Liam: No. No. I just need time to figure this out.

Bill: Whether you want to go running back to Hope or not.

Liam: Look, I -- this has gone on too long, okay? I've let it go on too long. Steffy and Hope don't deserve this. They've put up with enough.

Bill: From you?

Liam: Yes! Yes, from me! Yes, from me. I'm lucky they're still speaking to me, much less going through all --

Bill: "Lucky they're still speaking to you"? Are you kidding me? It's not like you've been stringing them along for the hell of it!

Katie: No, of course not. That's not who Liam is. But I understand why he's doing this, and so should you.

Bill: I understand that he's back in the middle again, even though it's a no-brainer who you should be sharing your life with.

Katie: Well, maybe that's true for you. But it isn't for Liam, and with good reason.

Bill: If you're gonna start singing your niece's praises again, I will puke right here.

Katie: I don't have to! He already knows Hope's many fine qualities.

Bill: And he knows some not-so-fine ones.

Liam: You know what, Guys? I really don't need you to have this argument in front of me right now.

Bill: We're not arguing. We just have different views about what you should be doing, that's all.

Liam: I'm doing the only thing I can.

Bill: Bull. The moment that Steffy left, Hope wormed her way back in here. And now you send Steffy packing, which you will regret, if you're not already.

Hope: I wonder if Steffy regrets going to Paris. I mean, if she'd stayed here --

Brooke: It wouldn't have changed anything. Once the lies that kept you and Liam apart were exposed --

Hope: Still, it was pretty gutsy of her.

Brooke: Well, she's never lacked self-confidence.

Hope: No. No, she has not. But this is -- it's more than that. What she did... she did for Liam, knowing what it would cost her.

Brooke: What it's costing her now.

Hope: We do not know that. And the longer I don't hear from Liam -- [Sighs]

Brooke: You and Steffy both are beautiful, intelligent young women.

Hope: [Chuckles]

Brooke: But you have something so much more to offer Liam than she does. And when I think of Liam's future, what he really wants -- home, family, children.

Hope: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and I want to give him all those things, especially children.

Brooke: And Steffy -- motherhood?

Hope: Oh. Mnh-mnh.

Brooke: It's not who she is.

Steffy: I had this picture in my head -- seeing Liam's overjoyed reaction, hearing that he was gonna be a father. It never occurred to me that he would ask me to move out... before I could even get the words out.

Taylor: Oh, Sweetheart.

Steffy: But that's not true. I'd seen him with Hope on our bed, making out. I knew before I got on the plane that's what I might be coming home to. And maybe that's why I didn't tell Dad that I was pregnant. Because in the back of my mind, I must've -- I must've realized -- only I didn't, not until Liam...

Taylor: Did you tell him that you had seen him with Hope before you went to Paris?

Steffy: Yeah.

Taylor: Oh.

Steffy: Yeah. And he apologized to me, and he told me that they didn't, you know.

Taylor: Oh, right. Well -- although, we know she was over there. She's definitely following in her mother's footsteps.

Steffy: Mm, she's not so angelic anymore. Not that I ever underestimated that.

Taylor: No, just like I underestimated Brooke for all those years.

Steffy: I just feel like I never tried to trap Liam. I never wanted to complicate his life.

Taylor: Honey, this baby is not a complication. This baby is a blessing. When Liam knows that you're carrying his baby, he's going to feel exactly the same way. I know you don't want him to think -- well, you don't want him to commit to you because you're pregnant. And I want you to think about this. You need to go over there, and you need to tell him tonight. He deserves to know.

Katie: By all means, please tell Liam how you really feel.

Bill: Oh, right -- like you don't have a horse in this race?

Liam: Geez, Dad, it's not a horse race. This is my life we're talking about, and Hope's life, and Steffy's!

Katie: He knows, he knows. He also knows why this is so hard for you.

Bill: And Liam is, of course, making it much harder than it has to be, because there is no comparing Steffy to your niece.

Katie: Okay, it's official. We are not helping. So why don't we go while Liam is still talking to us?

Liam: You don't have to go.

Bill: Good, because I'm not. I'd like some time alone with you.

Liam: Oh.

Bill: Would you give me a few minutes alone with my son?

Katie: Of course! Listen. I understand that you have feelings for Steffy, but I think it's good that you asked her to leave. My niece is exceptional, and she is ready for a life with you. It's so exciting! Bye.

Bill: [Groans] You do know where she's going, right? You know where she's going. She's going to see Brooke and Hope, to give them the news. You want to bet what their reaction's gonna be?

Liam: [Stammers, groans] [Sighs]

Hope: I cannot imagine how Taylor will react if this doesn't go Steffy's way.

Brooke: She was pretty confident earlier.

Hope: Do you think that she knows something that we don't?

Brooke: I don't know. She's been acting kind of strange.

Hope: Okay. What do you mean? How?

Brooke: Um... no, it's nothing. It's -- I'm sure it's just her issues with me. It's not with you. I've always been the woman who stole her husband and wrecked her family, and apparently, I'm still doing that -- pushing you to Liam and pushing him away from Steffy.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. That is so not true.

Brooke: But it's easier for her to believe that than to admit the truth. Liam is never going to feel for Steffy what he feels for you. And there's nothing that Steffy can do or say to get him to change his mind.

Taylor: So, you need to call him and tell him that you're on the way, and then just be honest with him.

Steffy: I have been honest. Liam's been honest. He's not ready for a commitment, not to me or to Hope.

Taylor: Honey, wait a second. Did he say something to you? Is that why you don't want to tell him? Is that what he said? Did he tell you that he doesn't love you?

Steffy: No.

Taylor: Did he tell you that he doesn't want to be with you?

Steffy: No!

Taylor: Did he indicate in some way that after he has some time for his head to clear, that he doesn't want to be with you?

Steffy: Mom, please!

Taylor: And he's still not going to choose to be with you? Honey, listen to me. The minute you left town, Hope has been over there constantly, trying to convince him that, you know, one day, that they're going to end up together and they're going to be together. But you are the one who's carrying his baby, not Hope.

Steffy: Mom, if I have this baby... Hope will say it's because I'm trying to trap Liam, or try to keep them apart. She will use the same thing that all the Logans do. I won't do it, Mom. I won't. If I have this child and Liam is still with Hope, she's gonna call the shots. I will be second to a Logan. You've lived that. Our whole family has lived that, and I will not go through that again.

Liam: Okay. Come on. Let me have it. I know you're dying to, so...

Bill: What, do you think I'm that heartless? I'm gonna rag on you when I can see you're this torn?

Liam: Oh, come on. I know how you feel about Steffy, so just --

Bill: Well, you know, yeah. I mean, I wish you hadn't asked her to leave tonight. But I'm not you, and I don't see what you obviously still do in Hope.

Liam: You know, it's not even -- this is about what was taken from us.

Bill: Which I contributed to, behavior that I sincerely regret. Having said that, looking at you right now, I can see that you're already missing Steffy. So why don't you pick up the phone and tell her to come home? You know you want to.

Hope: I really love your confidence. I just hope you're right.

Brooke: Mothers are always right -- except for Taylor, about this. She hasn't done anything to prepare Steffy.

Hope: No, she hasn't, because she doesn't think that she needs to. I mean, so what if Liam and I have been inseparable since Steffy left town? The moment Steffy walks back into that beach house, it's gonna be "Hope who?" I mean, that's Taylor's wishful thinking.

Brooke: She's not exactly objective.

Hope: No. And, you know, I really get the feeling sometimes that this is so much more about Taylor and you than Steffy and me.

Katie: What about you and Steffy?

Hope: Hey! Hi! What are you doing here so late?

Katie: Well, Bill and I were over at Liam's, and, uh, Steffy isn't there. He asked her to move out.

Hope: [Chuckles]

Taylor: Oh, come on. Sweetheart, listen. You are getting way ahead of yourself. You don't have any idea what Liam really wants to do.

Steffy: I know we've been here before -- my life on hold because Hope can do whatever she --

Taylor: Hope is just another casualty. If Brooke was any kind of a mother, she never would've encouraged Hope to go after Liam again. And this whole thing about... [Chuckles] ...Liam and Hope having, you know, broken up because of this manipulation -- that is not even true. They had problems way back, way at the beginning.

Steffy: Well, apparently, Hope has grown up.

Taylor: No, she's become her mother.

Steffy: [Scoffs] Mom, I don't even want to talk about Hope. I don't want to talk about Brooke. I just -- I just need to figure out what I'm gonna do, okay?

Taylor: What you're going to do is let Liam be a part of this. Okay? Let him fall in love with the baby, just like you have.

Steffy: And then what? He can marry me for the sake of the baby, even though he has feelings for Hope? Or even worse, he starts to resent me because there's a child, and he sees no way out. I can't do that to him. I can't do that to myself, and I'm not gonna do that to my child.

Taylor: No, he is not going to resent you, Honey. He was already in love with you. [Chuckles] If anything, he's just gonna love you more.

Steffy: That didn't happen with you and Dad. You had three children, and he still left you for Brooke. I know what that cost you, what it cost all of us as a family. But I'm not gonna go through that again. I'm not gonna do that for myself or my child.

Taylor: Honey, that's what I'm trying to tell you. Our family was ripped apart because Brooke would never respect my relationship with Ridge. She never respected my marriage! And Stephanie would tell me over and over again that you can't underestimate a person like this. Hope is doing the exact same thing! You've got to go over there and sit down with Liam and just tell him that he's a dad. It'll change everything. Just go and talk to him, and just look him in the eyes and tell him. Tell him tonight.
