Nurse: Will was a perfect angel the whole time you were gone.

Bill: That's my boy. You here tomorrow?

Nurse: No, I'm at the hospital. Debbie will be here, though.

Bill: Okay.

Nurse: Good night, Mr. Spencer.

Bill: Good night. Thank you.

[Door opens, closes]

Bill: I'm gonna go check on will. Brooke.

Brooke: Oh. Sorry. What?

Bill: You okay?

Brooke: I'm never going to see her again.

Bill: Stephanie.

Brooke: She's gone away to die, and none of us who love her will be with her in the end.

Bill: Eric will be there. He won't leave her side.

Brooke: I just... I can't imagine our lives without her. I mean, I know...she doesn't want us to be sad, right? That was the whole point of the party. My head understands it. [Chuckles] But my heart doesn't.

Eric: We'll be at the cabin soon.

Stephanie: Then do I get my martini?

Eric: Hot apple cider for you.

Stephanie: Ugh. I hate apple cider. [Sighs] [Coughs] Thanks, honey. I know you wanted me to stay in L.A. with the doctors, but thank you.

Eric: Well, you're right about that. Shall I turn around and go back?

Stephanie: No. [Coughs] No, I don't want to do that. I just want to get up to the cabin. I just want to be up there with you, just the two of us.

Eric: Okay.

Stephanie: Besides, I have a bone to pick with you.

Eric: Oh, good God. What is it now?

Taylor: [Gasps] Katie.

Katie: You didn't change the locks. My key still works.

Taylor: No, I'm-- I'm glad you're here.

Katie: So what happened at the party with Brooke and Ridge? Did he take her back? Are they back together again?

Bill: I know how much you were hoping Ridge would show up tonight. You thought he'd walk in, see you, and you'd be together again.

Brooke: So many times the odds were against us, and we overcame them. I just thought it would be like that one last time.

Bill: Ridge let you and his mother down tonight. What kind of man does that? Disappointing the two most important women in his life, especially when one of them is dying.

Stephanie: [Coughs] Now to that bone I want to pick with you. You knew exactly what kind of a party I wanted.

Eric: Yeah, I knew what you thought you wanted, but, uh, I thought differently. I knew you didn't want a bunch of people standing around sniffling all night, so I did something different. I went against your wishes. And you have to admit, it was wonderful.

Stephanie: [Coughs] [Breathing deeply]

Eric: What can I do?

Stephanie: [Coughing] Make me a martini when we get to the cabin.

Eric: No, no, no.

Stephanie: [Sighs] You've already done it, honey. You're doing it right now. [Sighs]

Eric: You asleep?

Stephanie: I was trying.

Eric: I'm sorry. Was it too much?

Stephanie: What?

Eric: The party. Was it too much?

Stephanie: You're not second-guessing yourself, are you?

Eric: Oh, no. That's you. You're the one that always second-guesses me, for God's sake. I think it's maybe the Irish in you, you know?

Stephanie: No, the party was just great. All that champagne, and ... the music, the girls, everybody doing the Irish jig. Oh, it was a terrific party.

Eric: It was terrific. You're terrific. You're still the same beautiful, energetic Irish lass I fell in love with all those years ago. Why did I let myself forget it from time to time?

Stephanie: One, no regrets. I should have reminded you. [Laughs] I was too busy interfering with other people's [Cough] lives. [Coughing] I should have paid more attention to you and me. [Coughs]

Eric: No marriage is perfect. We made mistakes over the years, you know?

Stephanie: [Coughs]

Eric: Sweetheart, shall I pull over?

Stephanie: [Sighs] No. No, honey I want to get to the cabin. I just want to get to the cabin.

Eric: All right.

Taylor: How long have you been waiting here?

Katie: Are you upset that I let myself in? Or maybe that's why you didn't change the locks, because you were hoping that I would show up.

Taylor: Well, we still have a lot to talk about.

Katie: You still haven't answered my question. What happened when Ridge showed up tonight? Because I know that's what Brooke was hoping.

Taylor: What Brooke was hoping is that you'll let me help you.

Katie: I can take care of myself.

Taylor: [Sighs]

Katie: Ridge didn't show up, did he? There was no reunion, and there won't be. That's what you don't want me to know.

Taylor: [Sighs]

Bill: You thinking of calling Ridge?

Brooke: I don't even know how to reach him.

Bill: What would you say to him if you could? What do you think he needs to hear?

Brooke: I don't know. Maybe it's too late. Maybe he's met somebody else already.

Bill: That's why you think he didn't show up tonight, because he's involved with someone else?

Brooke: [Sighs] It would explain a lot.

Bill: Brooke, come on. Ridge has spent practically his entire adult life loving you. Is he disillusioned? I guess so. But involved with someone else? Ridge Forrester will never love another woman the way he loves you.

Eric: Do you want some music?

Stephanie: Oh, Lordy, Lordy. You're not gonna break out in song, are you?

Eric: Oh, come on now. You love it when I sing to you.

Stephanie: [Laughs] Yeah. That was such a great party. Everyone was so happy and smiling. It's just what I wanted.

Eric: Good. We haven't talked much about Ridge not being there. I'm sorry.

Stephanie: Oh, I didn't expect him. I called him. I talked to him after [Sighs] after we saw Dr. Lewis and told him what was happening. So, uh ... he wanted to come right away, you know, back from Paris, but I said no.

Eric: Why? Why would you do that?

Stephanie: Oh, I don't know. Maybe I was crazy. I don't know. But before they went away on their honeymoon, he and I had a really nice talk. Really nice. That's what I want him to remember. [Coughs]

Eric: And he agreed not to come? He agreed to that?

Stephanie: [Coughing] It wasn't easy, believe me.

Eric: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Stephanie: [Coughs]

Eric: I'm making you talk too much.

Stephanie: No. God knows as long as I can draw breath, I'll talk. [Laughs] [Coughs]

Eric: I'm sorry.

Stephanie: I have a lot to say to you. [Sighs]

Eric: You don't have to say anything to me. I know.

Stephanie: [Sighs] I know you know. [Sighs]

Katie: I can't believe Ridge didn't show up. God, I can only imagine what Brooke must be feeling.

Taylor: This doesn't mean that they won't get back together.

Katie: I've always liked Ridge. But if he didn't show up, he doesn't deserve her.

Brooke: I was so sure that when we said our vows this last time, Ridge and I would be together forever. Just like Eric and Stephanie.

Bill: You and Stephanie have quite a history together, don't you?

Brooke: [Sighs] Yeah. I've always been so desperate for her approval. And everything that happened was because of that. In so many ways. Some way, I will get even with you, Mrs. Forrester.

Stephanie: Well, it won't be by marrying my son.

Brooke: And I don't think you liked me from the minute we met.

Stephanie: You're right, I didn't. And I'm usually a very good judge of character.

Brooke: You're never wrong?

Stephanie: Rarely. And you haven't done anything to demonstrate to me that I'm wrong about you. I'll always love you, sweetheart.

Brooke: Never in a million years did I ever think I would hear that coming from you. [Sobs]

Bill: You're exhausted. I don't want you driving home tonight. You're staying here.

Stephanie: Okay, good.

Eric: Sit right here.

Stephanie: [Chuckles]

Eric: Oh, boy.

Stephanie: Slow.

Eric: Yeah. You all right?

Stephanie: [Sighs]

Eric: Good. You're good, all right? Pillow? Yeah, good I got it. Here. Okay.

Stephanie: Oh, thank you.

Eric: You okay?

Stephanie: Yeah. Yeah.

Eric: [Chuckles] There's some wood on the porch, and I'm going to make you a nice warm fire.

Stephanie: Thanks, honey. [Sighs] [Sighs] [Coughs] [Strains] "There's no fireside like your own fireside."

Taylor: Katie, this plan of yours ...

Katie: That's all I need to know.

Taylor: Katie, wait.

[Door opens]

Taylor: You've got to stop running away, and go back home.

Katie: I'm happy where I am.

Taylor: No, you're not happy. You're depressed. You're suffering from postpartum --

Katie: Do not say those words to me again! You can't put a label on what I'm feeling. You don't know. No one does. Or else you would understand why I'm doing this for my son. Stop fighting me on this, Taylor. Or I swear I'll ...

[Door closes]

[Bill puts a blanket over Brooke who's sleeping on the couch]

Stephanie: [Coughs] [Sighs]

Eric: All right. Here we go.

Stephanie: Martini?

Eric: [Chuckling] No martinis. Not for you.

Stephanie: Oh, no. Well, you have one. It's fine by me.

Eric: All right, I'll have one later.

Stephanie: Good. Recognize this?

Eric: [Laughs] Of course, I do. What am I going to sleep in? Hmm?

Stephanie: I just ... [Chuckles] I just wanted to sleep in your jammies, okay?

Eric: Okay. Come on. Drink this. This will keep you nice and warm. There's plenty of food, you know. It's all stocked if you want --

Stephanie: Eric, I'm going to throw up. Please --

Eric: Pillow? Pillow's okay? Blanket?

Stephanie: Honey, I'm fine.

Eric: Liar.

Stephanie: No.

Eric: You're in pain. Look at you. And you don't tell anybody. You just ... go right along. You're so brave. Stephanie Douglas, the bravest girl I know.

Stephanie: I love you, sweetie. Thank you for being ... Thanks for being so brave and strong for me.

Eric: Mmm. How many times have we said "I love you" to each other in this life?

Stephanie: And meant it. [Coughs]

Eric: There you are.

Stephanie: That's good.

Eric: I meant it. I meant it most of the time. [Chuckles]

Stephanie: They were angels, weren't they?

Eric: Angels?

Stephanie: Hm-hmm. The girls. The singing.

Eric: Oh, Oh, of course, they were.

Stephanie: Dancers. It was just wonderful.

Eric: Sure, they were. They were beautiful.

Stephanie: [Irish accent] And you were in fine fiddle, my dear boy. Your voice was beautiful.

Eric: Aren't you a sweet Irish lass?

Stephanie: [Chuckles]

Eric: Oh, baby.

Stephanie: Easy.

Eric: I'm sorry. You okay?

Stephanie: I'm fine. Yeah.

Eric: Mmm.

Stephanie: Sing to me.

Eric: When Irish eyes are smiling, sure it's like a mountain spring. In the lilt of Irish laughter,  you can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay

Stephanie: Mm-hmm.

Eric: And when Irish eyes are smiling, sure they steal your heart away

Stephanie: Hmm. [Sighs] I'm still here.

Eric: [Chuckles] You are, aren't you? [Kisses Stephanie on the forehead]
