Ridge: So this is the kind of man you are, huh-- sneaking behind her back kissing Jackie Marone in public? How dare you disrespect my mother like that? I'm not gonna stand for it anymore, Dad--no more.

Amber: Mind if I take a seat?

Thorne: Be my guest. But if you're lookin' for company, I may not be your guy. It's been the day from hell.

Amber: Well, I guess that is kind of fitting, seeing as that it is Halloween.

Nick: You kissed Eric at the restaurant?

Jackie: (scoffs) It was nothing scandalous, and--and Brooke was very sweet about it. She just asked me to respect Eric and Stephanie's relationship, which, of course, I do without question. (Sighs) It's just that, well, Ridge isn't too thrilled with his father.

Nick: Boy, the dressmaker's gonna let Eric have it on this one.

Ridge: You're acting like an adolescent here. This is ridiculous.

Eric: Oh, stop. Ridge, just stop it. There's no need for some kind of a lecture. I came here to get some work done, and Jackie was here, and I joined her. There is nothing unscrupulous going on.

Ridge: Really? If that's true, why the hell were you kissin' her?

Man: Amber, can I get you your usual? Or would you like one of our Halloween specials? We got the black widow, the eyeball-tini, a wolf bite, or maybe the bloody margarita.

Amber: You know what? I will take a black widow. Oh, but you gotta make it virgin, 'cause I'm driving.

Thorne: Put it on my tab.

Amber: Thanks.

Man: Another scotch?

Thorne: Yeah, double.

Man: Be right back.

Amber: So what's the deal, huh? You look even more miserable than me.

Thorne: Ridge he's driving me nuts. It's "Little brother, do this. Little brother that. I mean talks to me like I'm one of his kids. No, no, actually they get more respect than I do. You know, sometimes I could...

Amber: Ooh, wow. He must have really done you wrong, huh?

Thorne: No, he's a bully with an insatiable ego.

Amber: Hmm. Oh, here you go.

Thorne: Mm.

Amber: (Chuckles) Listen, I will drink to that. I have been bullied quite a few times in my life by Ridge.

(Glasses clink)

Thorne: You want to know what the most infuriating thing is? My dad lets him get away with it, over and over again. When is he gonna wake up and see Ridge for who he really is?

Nick: Hmm, the dressmaker could really go after Eric on this one. You know that's the way he rolls.

Jackie: Oh, Nicky, I feel so terrible about getting him into trouble. I've gotta go and apologize to him.

Nick: Mother, I don't think that's wise. You might be a bit vulnerable right now. You just got out of a marriage.

Jackie: (Scoffs) Please, I'm fine. I just want to make sure that he is. That's all.

Nick: (Sighs)

Ridge: Mother is your life partner. She's not a well woman. You had an affair with Jackie years ago. Spending time with her alone is just not appropriate.

Eric: Jackie's my friend, Ridge.

Ridge: Yeah, she's also newly single, and you're on the prowl, obviously. Oh, for God sakes, Dad, are you really that weak?

Eric: Don't. Don't do this. Now I love your mother. I'm committed to her, but she's changed. In many ways, she has withdrawn from our relationship. She's withdrawn, and she's detached.

Ridge: Yeah, she's also busy fightin' for her life. She doesn't have time to baby you. Get over it. Mother's coming home tomorrow from D.C. after speaking to congress about lung cancer and helping the homeless, and you're out here canoodling with Jackie Marone for God sakes. I'm warning you, Dad. Don't you ever, ever cross the line like that again.

Amber: I didn't know that you and Taylor had a thing going on.

Thorne: I'm not sure where we stand. I thought she was in my corner, but I don't know what to think.

Amber: (Scoffs) I hear ya. Rejection sucks.

Thorne: (Scoffs)

Amber: I mean, Marcus and I, we have a daughter together, and he's not interested in me whatsoever.

Thorne: Well, if somebody wants to be with you, they will be with you.

Amber: I learned that lesson the hard way.

Woman: Oh, hey, Amber. How's Rosey doing?

Amber: Oh, she's so amazing. She's with her daddy tonight.

Woman: Ohh.

Amber: Well, how are things with you?

Woman: Great. I'm engaged.

Amber: Oh, congratulations.

Woman: Thank you. He's actually over there. Hey, Honey, I love you! Yeah.

Amber: Hi.

Woman: Cute costume by the way. Apparently, he didn't get the memo.

Amber: Right?

Woman: (Laughs)

Amber: Well, I've really been trying to make positive choices in my life. I am tired of being the underdog, and I don't want to be it forever.

Thorne: Mm, I used to be the underdog. Now I'm just a fool.

Amber: No, no, you are only a fool if you let them get the best of you.

Thorne: Yeah.

Amber: You're an amazing guy, Thorne. You know, you really are. I've always thought that.

Thorne: Well, you know what? I'm tired of being the good guy. I want to be the guy who wins for a change.

Amber: Wouldn't that be something, huh? To be a winner. (Laughs)

(Glasses clink)

Thorne: Winner.

Amber: Gosh, doubt that'll ever happen for me, though.

Owen: Hey, Nick. Is, uh, is Jackie around?

Nick: No, she's out of the building.

Owen: So how's she doing?

Nick: She's doing all right. Keeping busy. How are you doing?

Owen: You know, I'm just still trying to process everything. But Bridget and I and Logan are--are doing well.

Nick: Good. I'm glad to see that what my mother did wasn't in vain, 'cause it wasn't easy for her to do.

Owen: I still love her, you know. I'm never gonna meet another woman like her. I love Bridget, and--and we're happy together. I mean, our son's happy. You know, but I can't help being worried about Jackie. I just can't stand the thought of her being alone.

(Door opens)

Brooke: Oh, there you are. So how did it go?

Ridge: Where is our little spaceman?

Brooke: Our little spaceman went to spend the night at Matthew's. So how was your talk with Eric?

Ridge: I had to lay down the law.

Brooke: Well, he was kissing Jackie in the middle of a restaurant. You have every right to be angry.

Ridge: His behavior is absolutely deplorable.

Brooke: I went to speak to Jackie. I asked her to respect Eric and Stephanie's relationship.

Ridge: Thank you. Well, I just hope Dad can keep his hands off of Jackie.

Brooke: (Sighs)

(Knock on door)

Eric: Jackie?

Jackie: Trick or treat. (Chuckles)

Eric: I always thought that was a really interesting choice.

Jackie: Mm. Sorry to come by unannounced.

Eric: (Chuckles) Come in. Come in.

Jackie: Thanks. Oh, my gosh, I feel so terrible about what happened earlier.

Eric: Don't.

Jackie: Brooke came to see me.

Eric: What?

Jackie: Yeah, she told me that Ridge saw our little kiss, and that he's furious with you.

Eric: Yeah, well, he overreacted.

Jackie: Well, I understand why he did. I mean, Stephanie's his mother. He's worried about her. I am, too.

Eric: Well, everybody's worried about Stephanie. That's not the point. I don't want Ridge or anyone interfering in our friendship.

Amber: You know, uh, you're a single dad. I'm a single mom. We could be good together... as friends, I mean. (Laughs)

Thorne: (Chuckles) I've needed someone to talk to.

Amber: Yeah. You know, maybe I could, uh, stop by the office and buy you lunch sometime.

Thorne: Ooh, lunch in the basement. What fun.

Amber: You gotta be kidding me. You are still in the basement? No. Come on, I mean, you were in the basement, like, years and years ago when I worked there.

Thorne: Yes, I'm still in the basement. I'm still in Ridge's shadow.

Amber: (Scoffs)

Thorne: I'm always second. I'm not feeling sorry for myself. I'm just stating a fact. My mother and father have always put Ridge on a pedestal.

Amber: It's gotta be really hard for you.

Thorne: Yeah, but you know what? I could live with it if Ridge deserved it, but he doesn't. Ridge has been given everything to him on a silver platter by my father, even though he's betrayed him. It's like... (Scoffs) Ridge can do no wrong in my dad's eyes. (Chuckles)

Amber: Hey, I got an idea. All these, uh, zombies and vampires are startin' to give me the creeps a little bit. What do you say you and I, we get outta here and, uh, go some place a little more quiet, hmm?

Ridge: I'm not about to cut them any slack, especially my father. There's no excuse. My mother's battling a terminal illness.

Brooke: Ridge, I understand why you're so upset, why you want to come to your mother's defense-- because you love her, and you feel that Eric has betrayed her in some way.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Brooke: But just wish you would have a little more understanding for Eric.

Ridge: Understanding? How many times has he done this already? He's doing it again. I can just sense it, Logan. Jackie's available. Dad's sniffing around.

Brooke: (Scoffs) Ridge, I'm sure it's not something that he planned.

Ridge: I warned him not to cross the line, and if he's smart, he'll listen to me.

Jackie: These designs are exquisite.

Eric: Thank you. I'm glad you like them.

Jackie: They're wonderful.

Eric: Here.

(Glasses clink)

Eric: It's been a long time since Stephanie even looked at any of my sketches, I have to say.

Jackie: She's going through something, Eric. It doesn't mean she loves you any less.

Eric: (Sighs) I know. I keep telling myself it's just a phase.

Jackie: I understand what you're feeling. She can be quite the challenge. (Chuckles)

Eric: (Chuckles) Yeah. She's one of a kind, all right.

[Eric remembering]

Eric: I'm leaving.

Stephanie: You bet your sweet ass you're leaving. I have never been so ashamed of you in my entire life.

Eric: (Chuckles) Ah, we've had our moments.

Jackie: You've got to remember the good times, too, Eric, with Stephanie, because there have been so many.

Eric: You're right. Many, many good times. Hopefully more in the future.

Jackie: Oh, there will be.

Eric: Ridge doesn't understand the dynamics of our relationship. Not really. I mean, he's no idea what it's like to be married to her. I mean, she's my friend. She's my colleague. She's my--my business partner, but she's just not...Ridge is right. I mean, Stephanie's fighting cancer. I have to stop... I have to put her needs first. I have to stop thinking about myself. I mean, it's just silly at my age to go on about it.

Jackie: Excuse me. Excuse me, but what, uh, you’re what?

Eric: At my age.

Jackie: Don't you ever say that again. I don't want to hear that, okay? Your feelings, your desires, they are valid, young man. (Sighs) You don't just let go of life. You hold onto it, for goodness sake. You embrace every bloody moment of it. Do you hear me?

Ridge: (Sighs)

Brooke: Mm.

Ridge: You feel so good. I'm already forgetting about my disastrous day.

Brooke: (Chuckles) By the end of the night, you're going to forget your name.

Jackie: Talk to her, Eric. Tell Stephanie your needs. Remind her of all the good times you've shared, and don't give up. Because romance and desire-- they can be rekindled.

Eric: You're amazing, aren't you?

Jackie: (Scoffs)

Eric: No, no, you never cease to amaze me.

Jackie: You thought I came here to seduce you, didn't you?

Eric: Oh, well, I--

Jackie: Unh-- don't you lie to me.

Eric: (Chuckles)

Jackie: Not that I wouldn't love to. But you and Stephanie-- you are such good, dear friends to me. I would never want to come between the two of you.

Eric: (Sighs)

Jackie: Make it work, Eric. I better go.

Eric: Jackie? Thank you. You're a good friend. And beautiful, too.

Taylor: Thorne? Thorne? Look, I know you're going through a hard time, but, really, you don't need any more stress. You need to stay away from her. She's trouble.

Amber: Why does everybody always say that about me?

Thorne: (Sighs)

Taylor: Because it's your story, Amber. You go in people's lives, you take what you want, and then you leave, and then they're left paying the price, and you're not going to do that to Thorne.

Amber: You know, we were just trying to have a drink together, Taylor, so why don't you just leave?

Taylor: Thorne, I want to talk to you. Can I talk to you outside, please, out on the patio? Please?

Amber: (Sighs)

Thorne: Why are you here?

Taylor: I was just thinking about some of the things that I said earlier.

Thorne: You said you didn't know what you wanted. You said you weren't ready for a man in your life. Well, Taylor, I'm ready, because I'm tired of sitting back and letting life just pass me by. I mean, if I can't be with you, why shouldn't I be with Amber?
