Eric: It's--it's nothing big.

Stephanie: I can see that.

Eric: But if there was ever a reason to celebrate, this is it.

Stephanie: Eric, dr. Lewis did not use the word "celebrate." She said "undetectable."

Eric: (Sighs) well, why isn't that enough?

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Eric: Last year at this time, we didn't know you would still be alive. Come on. Open it.

Brooke: I thought you must be on the phone when you didn't come back to the table.

Ridge: I didn't get to it in time-- one missed call.

Brooke: Who was it?

Ridge: Steffy.

Brooke: And if you had answered, what would you have said?

Bill: Well, it came as a big surprise to us, too.

Katie: (Scoffs)

Taylor: It's--sweetheart, is just that, you know, marriage is not something you do on an impulse.

Steffy: Okay, mom, I-I know it seems that way, but it was just the opposite of an impulse. We both wanted a committed, adult relationship, and we knew it once we saw it, so of course we had to say yes. Cheers. (Glasses clink)

Taylor: There weren't even any pictures.

Steffy: Mm, actually, there was this woman Ramona. She was our witness, and she took a couple of photos, but I have some in my cell phone. Hold on. (Sighs) oh, wait, that's the call log.

Taylor: Oh, wait, wait, wait. You called your father?

Steffy: Uh, yeah, but, um, I-I hung up before e answered.

Taylor: Steffy, you have to tell him.

Steffy: No, I-I know. But just-- everything just feels so wonderful right now, and I just have a feeling it won't once I do.

Ridge: I don't think we can be too quick to judge here. Hope did break up with Liam.

Brooke: Because Steffy was all over him. Hope was blindsided. She didn't even have a chance to recover. Steffy was playing keep-away with Liam until she had a chance to make him legally hers. (Cell phone rings)

Brooke: (Sighs) is that her again? (Ring)

Ridge: Hey. I'm glad you called back.

Steffy: Hey, um, I-I don't know if you heard my news.

Ridge: Yeah, actually, I did. Sounds like you've been busy.

Steffy: Um, bill and Katie, they kind of put together this surprise reception, and, um, mom's here. And I would really love it if you were here. Look, I-I know this must be hard for you, especially if hope's hurting, but, um, I am still your daughter.

Brooke: (Quietly) what does she want?

Steffy: Dad? Dad?

Eric: Don't you want to look?

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Stephanie: (Sighs

Eric: I designed it for the intimates line.

Stephanie: It's lovely.

Eric: I thought you might want to have something that, uh, would feel good on your skin.

Stephanie: Did I give you tat impression?

Eric: The way cancer's ravaged your body, I thought, uh, you'd want to like the way you look in something again.

Stephanie: I don't mind the way I look. Do you?

Eric: Why don't you go try it on?

Stephanie: No, not now.

Eric: Well, will you wear it tonight?

Stephanie: I don't know.

Eric: You don't like it?

Stephanie: Well, you like it enough for the both of us. I don't--I don't think-- I don't feel like wearing it. Sweetie I think you need a little extra fiber in your diet

Eric: I think I'll have another drink.

Stephanie: Well, you don't have to worry about driving home.

Eric: No, damn it. Look, I'm not gonna drink myself to sleep here. I've done nothing wrong. I gave you a gift, a gift that any other woman would have appreciated. She would-- should be happy with it.

Stephanie: Any other woman? You mean Donna or Brooke?

Eric: Oh, god.

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Stephanie: I tell you what. The next doctor's visit that we come back from where they have not suggested that I will be dead by the end of the year, that will be your cue for... for seduction.

Eric: Seduction? Why should I have to seduce my wife, or my partner in life, or whatever it is that you and I are these days? What's the message here, that it's somehow inappropriate to treat you like a woman because you're sick, or--or correction-- were sick?

Stephanie: It was just one appointment, one test result.

Eric: No, the message said that the tests detected no further malignancies in--in your brain or your--your chest or anywhere else, and yet, you are using your cancer still as some kind of invisible shield.

Stephanie: No, I'm not.

Eric: Yeah, you are. You're using it to keep us in separate beds. You have the energy and the compassion to feed the homeless, but you leave me here starving for affection and love. I think this whole business with Dayzee's is just some excuse.

Stephanie: Well, sometimes it is, because I can't figure out any other way to stop you.

Eric: To stop what?

Stephanie: Stop you from wanting to touch me, wanting me to touch you.

Brooke: Steffy and Liam are back from aspen.

Brooke: (Sighs) hope, I love you. I respect you as a woman, and your morals and your values, the way you've chosen to give your life, but you're not a little girl anymore, and I can't tell you what to do. But there is such a thing as being too proud and too independent. Please, please don't let Steffy get away with what she's done. You need to go to Liam and talk to him, explain everything. Tell him how you're feeling. It is never too late.

Eric: The thought of touching me is repellant to you?

Stephanie: No, no, it's not. It's just that you always want more. It's kind of like living with the bill collector.

Eric: No, no, no, it's--it's about-- it's about human needs, about touch and affection and love. You know, there are all these studies about people who live with pets, that they live happier, longer lives, because animals are warm and they--and they-- their touch-- and they're alive, and they can touch you back.

Stephanie: Okay, I'll get you a puppy. Will that suffice?

Eric: Stop it. Stop it.

Stephanie: All right, then let's be honest. With you, it always gets down to sex.

Eric: Down to sex? What is this with you? That sex with you is down? It's dirty? It's--it's--

Stephanie: No, it's not. It's just that it's cost me so much. How many women have I lost you to because you wanted to be in bed with them more than you wanted to be with me?

Eric: No, not more, Stephanie. Not more. Never more. Look, I have an inborn need like anybody else for just normal human affection, and you find that repellant. Well, I'm not going to-- you can't shame me out of that. I look back, and it's clear to me that I-- that I created Forrester. I created my whole career based--based on desire. I was able to envision other women's bodies and actually touch them in my imagination without turning my back on my marriage or y family.

Stephanie: Except that you did.

Eric: When the need became too strong, and when I was too weak to resist.

Eric: You knew all these things, I think.

Stephanie: Yes, I knew you. I knew you and loved you and accepted you for all of that. I don't know. I-I mean, I don't know if it has something to do with the abuse from my father from my childhood. At this point in the day, the reasons are hardly-- they hardly matter.

Eric: (Sighs)

Stephanie: It's lovely. It's beautiful. You're so gifted... still.

Eric: Won't you wear it?

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Stephanie: Eric, I love you. And all the wild, mad, wonderful, joyful passion that we have shared in our married life is seared into my brain. It'll be there until my dying day.

Stephanie: That chapter in our lives is over. It's finished.

Liam: Mr. Forrester, come in.

Bill: Ridge, you made it. Now the party can start. We're in-laws again. Give me a hug.

Ridge: I just thought there'd be another bride, wedding invitations.

Bill: Ah, come on. Don't be a buzzkill. Have some champagne. Relax.

Ridge: No, thanks, bill.

Steffy: Dad, you came. Thank you.

Taylor: I'm sure you're as shocked about this as I am.

Liam: Ridge, I'm sorry. I gotta say this. I'm sorry about what happened between hope and me. And, look, you're gonna have to ask her why that is. But what I didn't realize was that what I had wanted all along was still waiting for me. In fact, it was standing right in front of me even. There she was--your daughter. And this time I decided not to take any chances, not to postpone a future that I couldn't be sure of.

Ridge: What I'd really like is to speak with my daughter.

Steffy: Yeah, um, we'll just be outside. Come on.

Brooke: You have to confront Steffy.

Hope: Mom, I-it's pointless now. I love you, okay? But you are the kind of person who doesn't get tired of-- of fighting unwinnable battles, but for me, enough is enough.

Brooke: Love is not a battle. It's a connection between the person that you love-- no lies, no barriers, no holding back. You gave up on Liam too soon-- you said so yourself-- because you saw them kissing in a car the same night as the bachelor party. But you didn't confront either one of them.

Hope: Yeah, because it's too painful to talk about.

Brooke: I know, and you said that you regretted that. He didn't even know that you were there ready to move in with him that night. He didn't even know that you were in aspen looking for him. I mean, it's all well and good that you can sit there and tell me and your father that you take responsibility for everything that went wrong. But the real job isn't done until you tell Liam.

Hope: You're right. I know you're right. I have to see Liam.

Eric: I don't think I'm asking too much.

Stephanie: It's not about too much. It's whether I have it to give.

Eric: Don't you think it's a little too early for you to accept that your life is over? I'm not ready to accept that.

Stephanie: Well, what about just aging gracefully? I mean, come on, Eric. There are things that you give up as the years go on. Isn't it kind of childish, you know, to have this death-like grip on that part of your life that you've outgrown?

Eric: Oh, I think I should be the judge of what I've outgrown or not. Desire hasn't left me. Wanting to hear the woman I love breathing next to me in the dark-- that hasn't left me. I'm not talking about some wall-to-wall fantasy here. I'm talking about a normal relationship.

Stephanie: Well, what's normal at our age? (Sighs) do you think that I don't want intimacy? It's just a different kind. I need--I want understanding and companionship. If I... I need to know that if I ack and--and--and--and old and afraid, that it's okay. You want someone-- you want a partner that accepts you. I want a partner that accepts me.

Eric: That sounds like fairness when you say that, but what it really means that you get what you want, and I don't. I go without. What if I'm not willing to go without? (Engine stops)

Brooke: Is there a back way?

Hope: Yeah, the patio.

Brooke: Okay, what you need to do is go in there and bypass bill and Steffy and get to Liam right away.

Hope: You want me to sneak in? (Sighs) it--it feels wrong just even being here now. Look, if they are having a reception--

Brooke: Honey, Liam was waiting for you on top of a mountain in aspen.

Hope: How do you know that? I mean, he could have... he could have been there for Steffy, and I only thought that he was there for me.

Brooke: The same time, same place that you were gonna meet him? Believe me. He was not expecting to get married. He was expecting to see you, and Steffy knew that. Somehow, she stopped that gondola and you were stranded up there while she convinced Liam to marry her.

Hope: (Sighs)

Brooke: It's time for you to set the record straight. You are ten times the woman that Steffy is, and deep down, Liam knows that. Go in there. Go tell him how much you love him. Go get him back.

Ridge: Why did it have to be the boy that hope was gonna marry?

Steffy: I don't know. He saved my life. She changed her mind. I realize that doesn't account for it. But... I started wanting to do things for him. I wanted to be there for him. I mean, hope never was, so... it was easy. I knew that I loved him, but I just... I-I never, ever thought he could actually love me back. But then he told me he did, and it was like everything I felt, it finally made sense. My life finally made sense to me.

Steffy: (Sighs) dad, I thought you hated me.

Ridge: Sweetheart, that would never, ever happen.

Steffy: I know Brooke does.

Ridge: This whole thing happened so quickly. It's only natural people are gonna have questions. They're gonna wonder. (Sighs) I can see how much this means to you.

Steffy: Yeah.

Ridge: How can I not acknowledge that beautiful glow in your eyes?

Steffy: (Laughs) thank you. Thank you so much, dad. I love you so much.

Ridge: And I love you, too. Don't ever doubt that.

Steffy: I won't. I promise. I promise you, I won't.

Ridge: I better get in there and...

Steffy: (Sighs)

Ridge: Try and be civil.

Steffy: Yeah. (Laughs) um, okay. I-I'm just gonna hang out here for a little bit.

Ridge: Okay.

Steffy: Okay. (Sniffles) What are you doing here?
