Liam: Steffy? Was I dreaming?

Hope: (Gasps)

Liam: Steffy?

Steffy: Hi.

Liam: Hi.

Steffy: I'm sorry.

Liam: For what?

Steffy: Well, I... I didn't want you to wake up all alone. But when I woke up, I don't know. I was just... I was too happy to get back to sleep.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Steffy: Is everything... okay?

Liam: Yeah. Yeah, I-I just didn't know where you were. (Chuckles)

Steffy: Oh. Well, um, I made coffee. It's a little strong, but I can, uh, I can get you some.

Liam: Hey.

Steffy: What?

Liam: You don't have to be sorry. About anything.

Steffy: Are you?

Liam: Not a perfect fit, is it?

Steffy: (Sighs) Well, I guess I'll... I'll have to eat more.

Liam: (Laughs)

Steffy: (Laughs) No, I-I'm sure a jeweler can fix it or would it be better if I took it off?

Brooke: Hi, honey. (Sighs) Just in time for breakfast.

Hope: Uh, where's Dad?

Brooke: He took R.J. to school, and then he's going to work.

Hope: Mom, you can go to the office, okay? I'll be fine.

Brooke: I took a day off work today.

Hope: Mom.

Brooke: Mental health day.

Hope: (Chuckles) You mean my mental health? (Sighs)

Brooke: Honey, you can't blame me for worrying about you.

Hope: Go to the office. I'm serious. Go to work.

Brooke: I will. I will...

Hope: (Sighs)

Brooke: Later did you sleep?

Hope: I don't know. I was thinking a lot. I, uh... I would start to doze off, and then I-I would get this feeling that I forgot something or, you know, that something wasn't right, and-- and then I-I would feel my hand, and it just felt so empty without my ring. And then I'd be wide awake again.

Brooke: You have every right to be upset. You found your fiancÚ kissing another woman.

Hope: I know, but... (Sighs) Whenever I find myself thinking about my rights, it usually means I've done something wrong.

Liam: I don't know what I would have done without you last night. Go crazy? Take another look at that cliff? And not just last night, I mean, the past few days.

Steffy: Liam, you saved my life. It should be yours now... if you still want it. Everything's okay. It's all gonna be okay. Look it, I-I know you can't feel as-- as purely happy as I do. I get that. You--you lost somebody. Hope broke your heart...

Liam: (Sighs)

Steffy: And she did it the hard way-- not all at once, but... in pieces. And you loved her. And I know I'm not gonna be the only one you're thinking about today.

Liam: (Sighs) (Chuckles)

Steffy: (Sighs) Well... maybe you're thinking, you know, it was too soon to say all the things that we said to each other last night. And I get that. I understand. I mean, you were hurt. You felt vulnerable. I knew you'd wake up this morning feeling differently.

Liam: I do.

Steffy: Yeah. You can--you can tell me. I mean, 24 hours ago, you were engaged to somebody else. You do not need the emotional whiplash. So if you have anything to say, please say so.

Liam: I'm tired of being a kid. I'm tired of living like a kid-- everything temporary, everything conditional, on hold until some--what? Magical day in the future when life makes sense and... "Happily ever after" just pops up out of nowhere? I want it now. I want a life married to somebody who loves me back, and here you are saying that you do, and it's like... you're out of a fantasy. You're the girl every guy thinks he'll never have. I meant every word last night. So you tell me. You tell me what you want, and you'll have it.

Steffy: What I really want is to tell my mom. I think she's gonna be the only one that's really happy for me.

Brooke: It's cold. Let me heat it up for you.

Hope: Mom, why are you doing this?

Brooke: (Sighs) I don't know what else to do to help. I'm not gonna let you blame yourself for Liam carrying on with Steffy.

Hope: I saw them kissing. I-I-I mean, I don't think that Liam is rally carrying on with her.

Brooke: Okay. Well, I didn't know what you thought.

Hope: Well, obviously, I'm not at my mental best right now, so what I think can't trusted. If you want to help, why don't you tell me what you think?

Brooke: I think it's terrible to see two people so in love fighting all the time.

Hope: We weren't fighting all the time.

Brooke: But I think it's better to fight when you're in love than to give up without a fight.

Hope: (Sighs) Maybe that's what I did.

Brooke: That's not for me to say.

Hope: No. I'm saying it. I handled things badly. I know did. I've been thinking about it all night. I made Liam feel unimportant. I mean, how could he have possibly known that he means more to me than anything else in the world? Now what do I do? (Sighs)

Steffy: My mom's gonna ask if I stole you away from Hope. Did I?

Liam: How can you ask me that? I may not have wanted to see it, but Hope didn't want me. In fact, she had to spell it out for me in the end.

Steffy: I was just here.

Liam: What are you do-- what are you--why are you saying things like this?

Steffy: (Sighs)

Liam: You were looking out for me, and protecting me, and trying to warn me the entire time.

Steffy: Did I mention I-I'm known to be a little insecure?

(Doorbell rings)

Liam: You did forget to mention that, yes.

Steffy: Yeah, I did.

Liam: Dr. Hayes, hi.

Taylor: Oh, hi.

Liam: Come on in.

Taylor: Uh, did you get a call from Steffy? I'm not really sure where she was calling me from, but she told me to meet her here.

Steffy: I'm here, Mom. Okay, I-I know that look. Um, yes, this is my clothes from yesterday. I spent the night.

Taylor: I'm not really sure I understand, uh nor do I think I want to.

Steffy: Well, uh, Liam and I are... engaged.

Brooke: I'm sure Liam isn't any happier today than you are.

Hope: Do you think I should call him?

Brooke: Nothing's going to change without communication.

Hope: I'm the one who ended it.

Brooke: You were hurt. You felt betrayed.

Hope: But I didn't even give Liam a chance to explain. He didn't know that I saw him with Steffy, and he didn't know that I was there waiting for him ready to start our life together.

Brooke: Well, then you should let him know that.

Hope: (Sighs) What if Steffy's still there?

Brooke: We don't know if she ever was.

Hope: I saw them in the car together.

Brooke: She could have just dropped off Liam and turned around and went home.

Hope: (Sighs)

Brooke: How likely is it that Liam would turn to somebody else the same day you give your ring back?

Hope: Not just "Somebody else." Steffy.

Brooke: (Sighs) She was wrong to try to pursue him.

Hope: Yeah, yeah, she was, but you know what? She could have thrown herself at him every day, and it wouldn't have made a difference if I hadn't stopped making him the priority in my life. I mean, making our wedding part of Hope for the Future? Who--who does that?

Brooke: It wasn't your idea.

Hope: But I went along with it.

Brooke: There is nothing wrong with you wanting to wait until you got married.

Hope: No, not that. Not that. (Sighs) That was a challenge, not a problem. But, mean, why-- why did I have to become the poster girl for abstinence? Why?

Brooke: It was something that was very important to you.

Hope: (Sighs) Yeah, but I should have taken Liam's feelings into account. What we did or didn't do in private was nobody's business. Oh, God, no wonder Liam couldn't take it and wanted to move the wedding up. You know, I--he asked just the one thing, and I couldn't do it, because it--it conflicted with the Hope for the Future campaign.

Brooke: Okay, so you both made mistakes. But it's not the end of the world. One mistake that you can't repair is walking away.

Hope: You're right. You're right. And I'm not going to. (Sighs)

Taylor: Okay.

Steffy: Mom, I know that can't be all you have to say.

Taylor: Well, I'm j-- I'm--I'm not sure if I'm waiting for an explanation or a punch line. Liam, my son was at your bachelor party last night, and you were engaged to someone else.

Liam: Hope broke it off.

Taylor: You had a fight?

Liam: No, she came over while I was out, left her engagement ring on my fireplace mantel, and called me to tell me it was over.

Taylor: She broke up with you over the phone? (Sighs) You know, Liam, I-I-I just-- uh, do you really think that this is, you know, the best thing to do? Making a big decision like this that'll affect the rest of your life right now?

Liam: Respectfully, I do. I do. Love you don't choose, but marriage you do. And you're not just choosing a person, you're choosing a life, and that's--that's what I want, that day in, day out assurance that whatever I'm on this planet for, I'm not in it alone.

Steffy: Mom, Liam and I, we know how to-- to make and keep a commitment. I mean, it's--it's not our fault we keep getting mixed up with people who don't. Well, that's all about to end.

Taylor: I'm-- I'm not disapproving of the relationship with the two of you at all, and I-I'm not-- I'm not saying I-I don't believe that you're sincere. I-I believe that completely. It's just that, you know, don't you think that-- that maybe you could be jumping into this part just a little bit...

Steffy: Oh, my gosh.

Taylor: Too fast? You know, maybe-- maybe it would be a-a little more appropriate if you were to say that- that you're just dating for a-a little bit longer.

Liam: I'm not interested in dating.

Steffy: Neither am I. And, Mom, I-I just wish that you could be glad for me that I finally found what I was looking for, even if it seems like a hand-me-down from somebody else.

Taylor: I am happy for you. You know I want what's best for you. Whatever makes you happy makes me happy.

Taylor: I need to see Ridge.

Brooke: He's not here yet.

Taylor: When do you expect him?

Brooke: You and I need to have a meeting of the minds about something.

Taylor: Really? Right now? That hasn't happened so far in recorded history, so-- but I'm game.

Brooke: I'm sure that you and I can agree that it's wrong for a woman to go after a man who's already committed to another woman.

Taylor: And so when did you come to this moral insight? Was it-- it had to be some point after you broke up my marriage and stole my husband.

Brooke: Oh, God, I am not talking about you and me.

Taylor: Oh, no, that-- oh, what am I thinking? Of course not. No, those principles only apply to other people. When you see Ridge, would you please tell him that I came by?

Brooke: Steffy's at it again.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Brooke: I'm not going to let her get in the middle of Hope and Liam.

Taylor: Well, you haven't heard? That problem is no more.

Brooke: What haven't I heard?

Taylor: Apparently, Hope broke things off with Liam.

Brooke: They had words.

Taylor: No, over the phone, no less.

Brooke: I'm sure it doesn't come as a shock to you that couples fight.

Taylor: She gave him back her ring. I think it's final.

Brooke: A ring is a piece of jewelry. It's a symbol. It's not the beginning or end of anything.

Taylor: Well, I guess it won't upset you too much then to know that Steffy is now wearing it.

Brooke: Hope's ring?

Taylor: Liam wasted no time in asking my daughter to marry him.

Brooke: (Scoffs)

Steffy: Hey, uh, it's me. It's pretty weird being here without you or pretty much anywhere without you. But I-I just thought before you get home, you might want to pick up some chicken or a couple steaks. I could fix dinner. But you won't get that message, because I'm staring at your phone. So never mind. Forget your phone if you must, but don't forget that I love you.

(Front door opens)

Hope: Liam?

Steffy: He's not here.

Hope: Then why are you?

Steffy: You know what? I-I think you should come back when Liam's at home.

Hope: I should? What, while you just sit here waiting for him, making yourself comfortable? Why do you always come between us, Steffy?

Steffy: Okay, I didn't end your relationship, Hope. You did.

Hope: He discussed that with you?

Steffy: Who else does he have?

Hope: Why were you at his bachelor party?

Steffy: Okay, you know what? If you really wanted an answer to that, I would give you one.

Hope: I already know the answer. It's no mystery. You've been trying to seduce Liam ever since I met him, and for no better reason than because he was mine.

Steffy: Okay, you know what? I admit, there was truth to that.

Hope: What, and it's changed now? Really, Steffy? Because you're here ready to give him the one thing that I wanted to save until marriage.

Steffy: As long as sex was all Liam was lacking from you, Hope, I didn't stand a chance.

Hope: And you don't now, Steffy. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I am so tired of trying to understand you, and I am-- done giving you the benefit of the doubt. I am sorry that your need is so bottomless. I'm sorry that your jealousy for me and my family gives you no rest. So please just get out. Now.

Steffy: I'm sorry. I can't.

Hope: Why? My ring?

Hope: Take it off.

Steffy: Hope--

Hope: Take it off now! You have no right to put that ring on your finger!

Steffy: I didn't! Liam did. . .
