Bill:  Katie!  Katie! Oh, God.

(Touch-tones beeping)

Bill: This is Bill Spencer. I'm at Spencer Publications. I need an ambulance. My wife collapsed. Yes, yes, hurry! Katie. Katie, wake up.

Steffy: Oh, come on, Liam. Don't get all moody. You know, Bill and I-- we're very happy together.

Liam: You're not together yet, Steffy.

Steffy: Well, we will be soon enough.

Liam: Uh-huh. And--and--and that's where you said he went? I mean, he's going to end the marriage with Katie?

Steffy: Yep, he said that, after he left here, he was gonna go see Katie.

Liam: (Sighs) It's gonna kill her.

Donna: Don't give it another thought. Katie understood why you couldn't be there.

Brooke: Good. I'll bet Bill was surprised.

Donna: More like shell shocked. The poor guy had no idea what he was walking into.

Brooke: I'm sure he rose to the occasion.

Donna: Well, he was speechless at first, and then the minister came, and Katie explained why we were there, that they wanted to renew their vows, and, yeah, he finally rose to the occasion.

Brooke: Our little sister, such a romantic.

Donna: I've never seen her so happy.

Brooke: It's amazing, isn't it? She actually made an honest man out of Bill.

Donna: (Laughs) Who would have thought, huh?

Brooke: Bill Spencer being loyal and faithful?

Donna: Yeah.

Brooke: I never thought there would be a chance of that.

Donna: He has come through for her. Katie is so secure in that marriage, and Bill really loves her. Our sister-- she's--she's in good hands.

Bill: Hang on, Katie. Hang on, baby. The ambulance is coming. Katie, can you hear me? Oh, baby, wake up. Katie? No. No, no. Katie! Katie. Oh, God.

Steffy: Liam, your father deserves a good life.

Liam: Yeah, I know. I mean, nobody wants that for him more than I do.

Steffy: But he doesn't have that, not as much as he should or could. I can make him happy.

Liam: Okay, all right, Steffy, I-I get that you love him. I really do. And I also understand that-- that he's... attracted to you. I mean, what guy wouldn't be? But isn't this a little fast? I mean, it feels fast.

Steffy: Uh, it's not fast. We've been attracted to each other for a long time now.

Liam: Yeah, okay, but you've kept it in check until now. So why?

Steffy: Because he was there for me. He was there for me when my father walked out on us.

Liam: Okay, right there. That. Doesn't that tell you something, Steffy? I mean, you--you felt rejected. You were vulnerable.

Steffy: No, Liam. That says Bill was there for me when everybody else wasn't. My dad walked out on me. My--my grandmother, she betrayed me. He knew I was in pain, and he did something about it, and that's the kind of man I want to be with for the rest of my life, and I'm going to.

Donna: If you could have seen her-- I mean, she was beautiful. She was glowing. And the vows that they said-- it was so sweet.

Brooke: I do find myself worrying less about Katie.

Donna: Well, yes, you've certainly had your hands full.

Brooke: No, it's more than that.

Donna: Yeah?

Brooke: She's stronger since she married Bill.

Donna: It's because she believes in the marriage. She trusts him. She--she loves him.

Brooke: And she so wants to do right by Stormy.

Donna: Stormy's heart is-- is blessing her with a wonderful life-- a husband who loves her and is always gonna take of her... well, you know, that's at least what I want to believe, I guess.

Man: B.P. 75 over 45, irregular rhythm.

Woman 2: Push the saline and send the E.K.G. You were with her?

Bill: We were talking.

Woman 2: Was she sick, Mr. Spencer, complaining of chest pain, anything? Mr. Spencer?

Bill: No, we were talking. She was fine, and then she just--she just collapsed. You-- she had a heart transplant.

Woman 2: When?

Bill: A couple of years ago. Did she-- did she have a heart attack? Is she gonna be okay?

Man: We need to get goin' now. E.T.A. Seven minutes. Have a crash cart ready.

Bill: I'm comin' with you.

Woman 2: Let's move. Let's move.

Bill: Katie.

Steffy: And, yeah, and then he told me he loved me. But that wasn't the first time. You know, he told me he loved me on the plane when we were searching for Thomas. See, I-it isn't some dirty, quick affair. It's a lot more than that.

Liam: All right. As long as you know what you're doin'.

Steffy: I could say the same about you and your girlfriend, you know that?

Liam: Really? Y-you're gonna compare you and my dad to me and Hope?

Steffy: Why not? You guys have faced some big challenges, okay?

Liam: Um, let me see. Oh, right, Hope's not married.

Steffy: Oh, oh, I'm sorry. She just likes to string her little boys along with her innocent routine. Oh, I'm sorry.

Liam: No, it's not even a routine.

Steffy: Oh, my God. Oh, she's still a virgin, isn't she? (Laughs) Oh, my God.

Liam: Come on. She wants to wait, okay?

Steffy: Okay (Stammers) I-I think you're either very frustrated, or you're very patient, and I'm gonna say you're both.

Liam: Okay, all right.

Steffy: (Chuckles)

Liam: I'm willing to wait. How's that?

Steffy: Well, it's rare.

Liam: Yeah, it's super rare. It's, like, endangered species rare. I think I need to be protected.

Steffy: What, sex isn't everything? Is that your mantra now?

Liam: Hey, believe me. If--if that were all I wanted, awesome. There's plenty of beautiful women at my work. I just... happen to want more. (Scoffs)

Steffy: Hope?

Liam: You know, let met tell you something. You guys have more in common than you think. You're both smart. You're both beautiful. You're talented, incredibly strong willed, and something else.

Steffy: Hmm?

Liam: You have a sweetness about you, and if you tell Hope I said that, I'm gonna freakin' kill you.

Steffy: (Laughs) I know, okay? She's definitely not like her mom. And there is a sweetness there. I can attest to that. Hey, I wonder what's goin' on with, um, with Bill and Katie.

Liam: I don't know. But she loves him, Steffy, and she trusts him, I mean, this is gonna hit her really hard.

Woman 1: What's going on?

Woman 2: Female, 30s, witnessed arrest. Did you get the report?

Woman 1: Just came on. Is she responsive?

Woman 2: No. She has a rhythm.

Woman 1: Any drugs?

Man: Just the saline.

Woman 1: All right, get her into 3-B.

Bill: I'm going with her.

Woman 1: Uh, who are you?

Bill: I'm her husband Bill Spencer.

Woman 1: Well, you can't go in there, Mr. Spencer.

Bill: The hell I can't.

Woman 1: Hold on!

Doctor: What's going on here?

Woman 1: Cardio incident, witnessed. This is her husband.

Bill: I need to be with my wife.

Doctor: Not now, sir.

Bill: Who are you?

Doctor: Doctor Maponya, head cardiologist from heart institute of South Africa. The ambulance report said your wife had a heart transplant.

Bill: A couple of years ago.

Dr. Maponya: Any problems?

Bill: Not recently.

Dr. Maponya: I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Woman 3: Paging Dr. Stateman, Dr. Stateman, please.

Donna: Hope must be so thrilled to have her dad back.

Brooke: She never believed Thomas. She stood by me. She was my rock.

Donna: She is a remarkable young woman.

Brooke: Unfortunately, she's sharing the blame for destroying Taylor's dreams.

Donna: Taylor's upset with her?

Brooke: Steffy is. (Sighs)

Donna: What? If anything, she should be upset at her own brother...

Brooke: Yeah.

Donna: Not to mention Stephanie.

Brooke: She has issues with both of them.

Donna: Well, they're family, so of course she points the finger at us.

(Cell phone rings)

Brooke: Hello?

Bill: Brooke, it's Bill. You've gotta get to the hospital.

Brooke: Why?

Bill: It's Katie. Uh, she collapsed. I'm in the E.R.

Brooke: (Gasps)

Donna: What is it?

Brooke: Katie's in the hospital.

Donna: What? (Scoffs)

Brooke: Let's go.

(Elevator bell dings)

Brooke: Bill! Bill, how is she?

Bill: I don't know. The, uh, cardiologist is in with her right now.

Brooke: What happened?

Bill: We were talking in my office and, uh, she just keeled over.

Brooke: Was she clutching her chest? Did she complain of pain?

Bill: She just collapsed.

Donna: Well, like-- like she fainted?

Bill: I was turned away. I turned back, and she was on the floor.

Dr. Maponya: Mr. Spencer.

Bill: How's my wife?

Dr. Maponya: She had a heart attack.

Bill: How serious?

Dr. Maponya: With Katie's history, it's very serious. Her heart's been compromised. We're working to stabilize her.

Donna: But she's-- she's gonna be okay.

Dr. Maponya: The next couple of hours are very critical. We need to revert her heart to a regular rhythm.

Bill: How do you do that?

Dr. Maponya: We put her on anticoagulants, aspirin, a beta blocker, and of course, she'll be monitored closely.

Bill: So what now?

Dr. Maponya: Mr. Spencer, her condition's very tenuous. A risk of cardiac arrest or another infarction's very high. We'll know more in a couple of minutes.

Bill: Is she awake?

Dr. Maponya: Yes.

Bill: I'd like to see her.

Dr. Maponya: It'd be best if we let her rest.

Bill: I need to see my wife, Doctor.

Dr. Maponya: (Sighs) Only for a couple of minutes.

Donna: Can we-- can we come along?

Bill: No. No, we--we don't want to overwhelm her.

Donna: (Sighs)

Liam: Uh, what are you doing?

Steffy: I'm gonna call your dad.

Liam: Steffy, don't do that.

Steffy: No, he probably already told her by now.

Liam: I don't think this is gonna be as easy as you're assuming it is.

Steffy: I know it's not gonna be easy, okay? But this is what he wants.

Liam: Yeah, but Katie doesn't know that, Steffy. That's the whole point. She's totally unprepared for this.

Steffy: (Scoffs)

Liam: I mean, she really thinks that their marriage is better than it's ever been...

Steffy: I get that.

Liam: Especially since they renewed their vows.

Steffy: Okay, but she thinks they're close, but they're not. Look, she's walked out on him twice now--twice. You do not do that to your husband.

Liam: That's because she was proving a point.

Steffy: You don't prove a point like that. Bill's father, he abandoned him, and I know what that feels like, and Katie should know what that feels like, because her dad did the same thing. If you're trying to get through to somebody, you don't walk out on them. You're definitely going to lose somebody's trust.

Liam: You really do know my dad.

Steffy: Yeah, I do. You know, he's never gonna have to question my loyalty. I'm always gonna be there for him, and I am never, ever gonna walk out on him.

Liam: God, I wish you guys had hooked up before he ever met Katie.

Steffy: Why?

Liam: Because it would have saved us all a whole lot of grief.

Steffy: What, y-you don't think he's gonna go through with it?

Liam: No, I know he's gonna go through with it. I mean, I know how he feels about you.

Steffy: Why? What did he say?

Liam: Yeah, right, dude. That's a private conversation between a son and his father.

Steffy: Oh, come on! He said he loved me, didn't he?

Liam: Maybe.

Steffy: I am totally gonna be your stepmom one day.

Liam: Oh, good God, woman. Aah!

Steffy: (Laughs) Look. (Scoffs) It doesn't matter, okay? I know how Bill feels about me. You know, we--we have something, and he doesn't have that with Katie. He really thought he could count on her, and he was wrong, and I really thought I could count on my dad and my grandma and, yeah, I was wrong. But, you know, that night, I was hurt... (sighs) and he called me. He just knew. We're--in a weird way, we're so much like. And now we've found ach other, and we're never, ever gonna that let go. You know, by the end of today, his marriage with Katie will be over, and he's gonna start his life with me.

Steffy:  (Sighs) Look, I know you feel bad about Katie, okay?

Liam: Yeah. But it's more than that.

Steffy: Well, you gotta think about your dad-- you know, what he wants, what he needs. It's not Katie.

Liam: (Chuckles) Steffy, it's you I'm worried about.

Steffy: Okay, you don't need to be.

Liam: Okay, you-- you know what? You are so damn cocky. I really hope you're right for your sake.

Steffy: Okay, you know what? I wasn't a big believer in fate at all. But Bill came into my life, and, you know, he brought something in my life, and I brought something in his, and I really feel that we're meant to be together.

Liam: Okay. I just don't want to see you get hurt.

Steffy: That's sweet, but Bill's not gonna hurt me.

Liam: No, not intentionally, Steffy. That's the point. That's what I'm saying. I mean, you should have seen him at the party Katie threw for him. He was torn. He was genuinely torn.

Steffy: Of course he's gonna be torn. He doesn't want to hurt Katie. I'm sure he's gonna be sensitive and gentle about his.

Liam: Uh, my dad? Really?

Steffy: Yeah, I know. He--he seems tough on the outside, but he really does have a big heart. He's gonna deal with Katie, and he's gonna make her understand.

Liam: Okay, but Steffy, uh, she's a Logan. I mean, Logan women circle the wagons in times like this.

Steffy: So I should be worried about Donna and Brooke? (Laughs)

Liam: I--no, I-I'm saying you should be prepared for anything. I mean, Katie just renewed her marriage vows. This is coming straight out of the blue for her. I don't even want to think about how she's gonna react, but if I were you, I'd be prepared for Brooke and Donna on your doorstep.

Steffy: Yeah I've been dealing with the Logans for a while now, so I'm not scared of them.

Liam: (Sighs)

Steffy: Katie's gonna be upset. Her sisters are gonna be upset. But eventually, we will get over it, and we'll all move on with our lives.

Brooke: (Sighs) How can this be happening to her?

Donna: I keep thinking about the other night, the look on her face, her standing there with Bill, pledging her love. And now she's in there fighting for her life. (Sighs)

Brooke: We have to stay positive. Bill is in there with her, and if anybody can pull her through, he will.

Donna: Okay. (Sighs)

Bill: You're in the hospital, Katie. Are you in any pain right now?

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: You had a heart attack, but you are in amazing hands. There's a world-renowned cardiologist lookin' after you. We're gonna get you through this. You're gonna be okay, because you're a fighter. You're my fighter. You're tough. There is no quit in you. Don't doubt what you mean to me. My life is so much better because you're in it, and I will not let anything happen to you. I will not rest until you are fully recovered.  Until you're smiling that beautiful smile, Katie. (Sniffles) You can count on me. I will not leave your side. Believe that. There is nothing more important to me than your believing that.

Katie: (Sighs) (weakly) You and Steffy...  Are you leaving me, Bill? Have I lost you?
