Eric: (Whispers) Cheers.
Ridge: How did that just happen?
Ridge: Since when did Mother become a chanteuse?
Brooke: (Sighs) I told you she said she would do anything to make up for lying about Thomas and me.
Ridge: So you asked her to serenade us?
Brooke: Yes. Yes, I did. Gotta start somewhere, right? And I think that song was perfect, don't you think?
Ridge: As long as she doesn't believe that all is forgiven.
Brooke: No. No, that's not the case. (Sighs) Your mother and I understand each other even better than we did before. (Giggles)
Thomas: Mom... you've barely said two words to us since we've been home.
Taylor: Well, I'm sorry. I'm having a little bit of trouble trying to understand how you could allow Stephanie to get you to do something so... horrible and so destructive. (Stammers)
Thomas: Hon--honestly, I don't know, either.
Steffy: Mom, what happened? Why did Grandma stop the wedding?
Katie: Hey, babe.
Katie: Did you miss me?
Bill: Of course.
Katie: (Giggles) Mm. Well, I missed you. It has been quite a day.
Bill: I'll bet. I got your message.
Katie: (Laughs) Can you believe it?
Bill: What happened? Forrester get cold feet?
Katie: Eh, itís a little more complicated than that. But the point is, Ridge and Brooke are back together.
Bill: You must be very happy for your sister.
Katie: Yeah, I'm thrilled. She thought she lost the love of her life. But she got him back.
Steffy: Will someone please tell me why you and Dad didn't get married? Something must have happened.
Thomas: Nothing happened, Steffy. Nothing happened between Brooke and me on the island. Grandma convinced me to lie about it.
Steffy: So you and Brooke didn't--
Thomas: No. It was all a lie. Grandma saw an opportunity to get Mom and Dad back together, and I did, too, so... we went with it and--
Taylor: Tell her everything, Thomas.
Thomas: Grandma offered me her 25% of Forrester if I said that Brooke and I slept together.
Steffy: No, she didn't. No, she didn't.
Taylor: Yes. Unfortunately, this is true.
Steffy: You lie to get control of the company? That is why you did this?!
Thomas: I am not making any excuses, but... it was Grandma's idea. She plotted the whole thing and encouraged me to lie.
Steffy: Oh, and you went along with it after she sweetened the deal.
Thomas: I'm not proud of it, but yeah. And I take responsibility. The only way Grandma could have got the job done is if she gave me her shares of the company, and that is what she did.
Jackie: Well, that was very interesting. We need a little chat. Mwah.
Owen: Stephanie, Eric, good night. Good night.
Brooke: Good night.
Eric: Good night. Look, uh, your mother and I don't want to interrupt your evening, so...
Ridge: Sit. That was nice, Mother.
Stephanie: Thank you, darling.
Ridge: Brooke told me why you did it. It's gonna take a lot more than a song to make up for what you did to Brooke and me and everyone else who was hurt.
Stephanie: I-I know.
Eric: Brooke, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ever doubted you.
Brooke: I doubted myself, Eric.
Ridge: Why I even believed you were capable of doing what mother and Thomas claimedóI should have known better.
Brooke: I don't blame you. And I don't blame you. I believed him, too. Stephanie did a masterful job of convincing Thomas to lie to me. It was really very good. I guess we could all agree that she is a much better manipulator than she is a singer, right?
Brooke: (Giggles) Yeah.
Ridge: We're all very disillusioned with you right now, Mother.
Stephanie: Yes, I know-- no more than I am with myself. I-I don't know. I just thought that... well, I just thought, you know, well, I wanted to believe that what I thought was the right thing for you, and it was--I'm sorry. It was very dysfunctional of me. And I, um... well, I kind of thought it was like giving you a gift. Well, you know, I kind of thought if you were with Taylor and the children, you'd be happy.
Ridge: You mean, what would make you happy-- that's what you really wanted.
Stephanie: Yes. Yes. And, uh, I'm sorry. Yeah. I did the one thing-- well, I did a terrible thing. I did. I-I made you believe that Brooke had betrayed you. And it was me that did the betraying. I did the one thing that I... well, I... I betrayed you, and I hurt you terribly.
Ridge: You didn't just hurt me, Mother. It's a long list.
Stephanie: I know. I've read it. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I'd ask you to forgive me, but I'm not sure you will. (Sighs) I just want to know I haven't lost you.
Katie: You know, we really are lucky. We've been through so much, but we've come out of it stronger, better, more committed. And I am curious as to why you haven't asked me about something.
Katie: Taylor and Ridge's wedding.
Bill: Don't you mean non-wedding?
Katie: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Right.
Bill: Well, you're right. There does have to be some kind of story there.
Bill: Ridge rescues Brooke and Thomas from the island, everyone's euphoric. Then they come back, and all of a sudden, Ridge and Brooke are finished. Then he proposes to Taylor and that wedding doesn't happen.
Katie: Well, I don't like keeping things from you, because you are my husband, but it has to stay off the record.
Bill: (Groans) My three least-favorite words.
Bill: Okay. All right.
Katie: Apparently Ridge and Brooke broke up because Ridge thought something happened between Brooke and Thomas on the island.
Bill: I knew it-- something sexual, right?
Katie: Right. Well, it turns out it wasn't true. Apparently, Stephanie convinced Thomas to make the whole thing up. And then Ridge breaks up with Brooke. He's gonna marry Taylor and apparently Stephanie started feeling guilty, because she was the one who called off the wedding.
Bill: So as soon as Ridge finds out the truth, he goes running back to Brooke.
Bill: Well, I guess, uh, there's one very happy family tonight and one that's very miserable.
Steffy: How could you do this?!
Steffy: No, you set our family up.
Thomas: Steffy. Steffy.
Steffy: No, you said our family was gonna be reunited.
Thomas: You have no idea how much I regret this.
Steffy: Oh, my God. You should be ashamed of yourself! Mom was just left at the altar again, and it's your fault Dad's not here again!
Taylor: Your grandmother manipulated this whole thing. She got Thomas to go along with a lie she created.
Steffy: Oh, what, you're defending him? He is not a child. He is a grown man, at least I thought you were.
Taylor: Steffy, I understand you're upset, but how do you think I feel about this? I should have married your father today, but I don't blame Thomas entirely for this.
Steffy: Mom, I know. I get it. I'm furious with Grandma, too. I just--I can't believe she would do this to our family.
Thomas: Look, as bizarre as it sounds, Grandma's heart was in the right place. She was trying to get Mom and Dad back together.
Steffy: Oh, what, so she used you as a puppet? God, did you ever think for one second what would happen if this lie fell apart? Which it did.
Thomas: No, Steffy, I wasn't thinking
Steffy: Oh, yes, you were, Thomas! You were thinking about yourself. Let Grandma dangle the shares in front of you, and you bid. You sold our family out, Thomas. Look what did-- look what happened to Mom. Look what happened to our family.
Taylor: Steffy, I-I'm okay. I'm gonna be fine. We're going to get through this.
Steffy: No, just--Mom, please, do not protect him. I can't accept this. No, no, I-I won't. Where is he? Where's Dad now?
Steffy: Oh, God. Of course. Yeah, he's with Brooke, right? No, he found out about the lie, and he went right to her.
Steffy: Well, I don't care. I know he loves you, or he wouldn't have walked down the aisle with you. Now our family needs to be together, and I'm not--I'm not gonna watch my dad walk away from us. Mom, I'm not. I'm not. (Breathing heavily)
Ridge: Mother, why did you do that?
Stephanie: I don't know. I-I-I-I-I-I-I thought it was-- I thought it was the best thing for you. (Sighs) Honey, I know I have to redeem myself. I guess I'll be doing that until I draw my last breath.
(Cell phone rings)
Ridge: Oh, I'm sorry. I have to take this.
Taylor: Ridge. (Sighs) Um, it's about Steffy. She's very upset. And, uh, uh, I'm very worried about our daughter.
Ridge: She knows everything?
Taylor: Yes, Thomas is here, and he--he told her everything that he did, and I've just-- I've never quite seen her like this before.
Ridge: Okay, I want to come over.
Taylor: I think you should, Ridge. I think she needs you.
Ridge: I'll be right there. Uh... (sighs) It's Taylor. Um, Steffy's very upset.
Brooke: Go be with her.
Eric: I'll drive Brooke home.
Stephanie: Should-- should I come with you?
Ridge: Oh, Mother, I think you're probably the very last person she'd want to see right now.
Ridge: I'll see you at home?
Brooke: Okay. Bye.
Katie: (Sighs) Gosh, being left at the altar... again. It's just awful I feel bad for Taylor. I even kind of feel bad for Steffy.
Bill: And to find out it was manufactured in part by Thomas-- when your own family betrays you, it's not a good feeling.
Katie: Well, at least the truth came out before they said their vows.
Bill: Yeah, but how do you ever really recover from something like that?
Katie: Well, Taylor is one of the most resilient people I know. I mean, she's been through this before, unfortunately. And Steffy's tough. She'll get through it somehow.
Bill: Ridge has done this to his kid many times?
Katie: Well, you canít really blame him this time.
Bill: It doesn't make it right.
Thomas: Steffy, try to calm down.
Steffy: Don't. Don't talk to me right now.
Steffy: No, we waited so long for this. This was supposed to be our time with Dad. Brooke stole him from you, Mom. She stole him from all of us, and now it's our turn to have him back. If I could just-- I could make him see that this is where he belongs. Dad.
Ridge: I am sorry, Doc.
Taylor: We were just so close to having our family and a life together and... (inhales sharply) it would have been so--
Ridge: It would have been great... I'm sure.
Taylor: I know once you found out what your mother did, when she manipulated Thomas, though--I understand that. I do. But it doesn't make me love you any less.
Ridge: And I love you, too. I always will.
Steffy: Then please just stay.
Ridge: (Sighs) May I have a minute with our daughter, please?
Steffy: (Sniffles) (sighs) (sniffles) Don't walk out on her again. Don't do that to us.
Katie: Well, I'm sure Taylor and Steffy are going through a rough time. I mean, they had their hopes up, only to be let down again. It's painful, but they're just going to have to find a way to accept it, because after everything that Brooke and Ridge have been through, nothing is going to break them up now. I'm going over to Brooke's house with Donna to celebrate. You sure you don't want to come? I know where they keep the good scotch.
Bill: Mm. I've got a ton of work to finish up here.
Katie: Okay. Don't wait up. It could be a wild night.
Bill: Have a good time.
Bill: (Inhales sharply)
Steffy: Bill, I love you!
Bill: I love you, too. (Sighs)
Ridge: Steffy, I'm sorry about what happened today.
Steffy: You were supposed to marry Mom, but you didn't.
Ridge: Thomas told you why?
Steffy: Yeah, he lied... to all of us. And he didn't sleep with Brooke.
Ridge: But do you really understand the full situation?
Steffy: He lied. I get that. But I don't understand why you won't stay.
Ridge: Sweetheart, I want to make sure you know how much I love you.
Steffy: I love you, too, more than anything. That's what--that's what makes this so hard. (Sighs) What Thomas did was wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that Mom and I thought our family was reuniting today.
Ridge: I love your mother very much, and that will never change. I hated walking out on her like this. We would have had a wonderful life together. I have no question in my mind about that.
Steffy: Then donít go. Mom has been left at the altar twice now.
Ridge: Steffy, I feel terrible about what your mother's going through.
Steffy: Then why?
Ridge: You are never going to lose me.
Steffy: I just-- I feel like I already did.
Ridge: Steffy, you're my daughter. We're always gonna be family, whether I'm married to your mother or not. (Sighs) I will always be there for you, sweetheart. Nothing's gonna change that.
Steffy: But what if I want things to change? What if I want it to be back the way it used to be when you were here with Mom and we were a family? Dad, I always had this dream that--that you and Mom were gonna get back together, but as time went on, I realize that it was gonna stay a dream. And that's something that I had to deal with on my own. But then with everything that happened with you and Brooke, and--you rushed to Mom's house right after. That shows me that you really do love her and you have deep feelings for her. You were the one who got my hopes up. I'm sorry. I know what Thomas did was awful. But it was your choice to put that ring on Mom's finger.
Ridge: (Sighs) Sweetheart, I'm so sorry.
Steffy: No, don't--don't be. Just stay. Stay here with us, your family. Mom needs you. And I need you. Just can't we be a family again?
