(Car alarms wail)
Amber: Liam! Liam! Liam! Liam! (Sobs)
Brooke: It seems like Hope and R.J. only communicate through text. You know, I just got a "Good night." (Chuckles) Really? I mean, can't they walk down the hall? (Sighs)
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Brooke: Oh, if this says "Bring milk and cookies"... oh, it's from you.
Ridge: If you want to bring milk and cookies to bed, that's fine with me.
Katie: That was Nick again. Bill? Bill.
Bill: Sorry, what?
Katie: That was Nick. He was calling about that house in Malibu. Listen. (Sighs) I know this is really bad timing. Apparently, they want to put it on the market, and if we're interested, we should at least think about it.
Bill: You really liked it.
Katie: Yeah. (Sighs) I mean, it's everything I could ever hope for. The location is amazing.
Bill: Quite a view, isn't it?
Katie: It's spectacular. Of course, we'd have to put some kind of guardrail. I mean, it's dangerous.
Bill: Yeah, of course we would.
Katie: Listen, we don't have to make any decisions right now. You know, I mean, it's been a long day. This whole situation with Amber is a nightmare.
Bill: Amber is sick and dangerous. And I can't let her cause any more harm to my son.
Amber: (Grunts) (Car alarms wail)
Amber: (Groans) (Grunts) Okay. Okay. (Gasps) I don't remember how to do this. I don't remember how to do this. Okay.
Amber: No, no, don't worry, Liam. They're on their way. They're coming, okay? They're coming. (Sobs)
Bill: When I saw Liam's reaction to the paternity test, uh...
Katie: You wanted to hurt someone. I understand.
Bill: There was that. But what I really wanted to do was hug him. I saw Liam standing there and hurting, and my instincts were to protect him, to embrace him.
Katie: Why didn't you? I mean, I know that...
Katie: Those things don't always come naturally to you.
Bill: Katie, until you came into my life, I never allowed myself to feel those kinds of emotions. You know that. So now with Liam, I'm trying to navigate this father/son thing. (Sighs) You know the kind of relationship I had with my own father. So being physical with my kid, embracing him, I just don't know how to do that.
Katie: It's not too late. Next time you're with him, why don't you talk to him? Tell him all the things that you want to say. Reach out to him. Hug him. It would mean so much to Liam. I know it would.
Bill: (Sighs) Well... yeah, m-maybe sometime down the road. There'll be plenty of time for the mushy stuff, right? How about until then... I practice on you?
Man: This is the trailer fire victim.
Man: Put him in three. Let's go.
Woman: He's just got burns on his side. He's been unconscious the whole time. Possible head trauma and internal injuries.
Woman: Wait. Wait. You need to wait here.
Amber: (Stammers) Why won't he wake up? Is he gonna be okay?
Woman: You know what? We're gonna do everything we can.
Woman: Dr. Valentino to the O.R., please. Dr. Valentino to the O.R.
(Cell phone rings)
Bill: Hey, Kid. We were just talking about you.
Amber: Actually, it's Amber.
Bill: What the hell are you doing with Liam's phone?
Amber: We’re at university hospital. There's been an accident, and Liam's hurt.
Amber: The doctor said I should call you.
Bill: What happened?
Amber: Just get here as soon as you can, okay?
Bill: Amber, wha--
(Phone hangs up)
Ridge: Are you expecting more texts from the kids?
Brooke: Well, probably just a few dozen. (Chuckles)
Ridge: I thought you already got a "Good night" from them.
Brooke: That was from Hope. R.J.'s still up playing video games.
Ridge: If it's important, he'll knock on the door.
Brooke: Why, Ridge. Whatever do you have in mind?
Ridge: Shutting out the world. I want you all to myself.
Bill: What happened to you? Where's Liam?
Amber: He's with the doctor. I'm not sure if he's still unconscious or not.
Bill: Unconscious? What happened?
Amber: Well, he came to see me, and, um, we were talkin' about the baby, and it was really cold because we've been having trouble with the heat at my mom's trailer. So I thought it was-- it was probably just the propane tank, you know? The pilot just went out, and I tried to light it, and that's when it happened.
Amber: The explosion.
Bill: The tank exploded?
Amber: The whole trailer exploded.
Katie: Oh, my God.
Bill: With my son inside?
Amber: I tried to pull him out as quick as I could. And the paramedics, they said that he might have some burns oh him. The fire was just going so quick, but I don't know. They seemed more concerned that he might not wake up, that maybe he has-- he has, like, um...
Bill: What? What?
Amber: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe, um, some internal damage or some head trauma or something 'cause he got knocked out cold from the explosion, and he's-- he's been that way ever since.
Katie: You pulled him out?
Bill: Get Ramón, Katie. Now.
Amber: (Voice breaking) I'm so sorry this happened. It was a terrible accident, and I don't know why it happened, but it did.
Bill: I don't care if it was an accident. I don't care if you pulled him out. I'm holding you responsible.
Amber: I saved him.
Bill: You saved him? He wouldn't have been anywhere near that trailer if it hadn't been for you. You better hope he comes out of this, so help me, or you will wish you burned up with that damn trailer.
Dr. Montgomery: Hey.
Bill: Ramon, how is he?
Dr. Montgomery: The good news, Bill, is that his burns are minor and not really a concern.
Dr. Montgomery: However, he did suffer head trauma, and it seems relatively severe. He's got swelling and bleeding in his brain. He's in a coma.
Dr. Montgomery: Frankly, it's--its touch and go. Uh, it certainly doesn't help that he recently had a concussion.
Bill: Okay. Okay, so what--what-- what can I do?
Man: We'll monitor him. Say a prayer, and we'll see.
Dr. Montgomery: Yeah, we're-- we're hopeful that he'll regain consciousness soon.
Brooke: I want to stay right here.
Ridge: No one's asking you to leave.
Brooke: Yeah, but I-- I didn't make R.J.'s lunch yet, and I hate doing it in the morning rush.
Ridge: It's done.
Brooke: Did you check his homework, too?
Brooke: Oh. Then I guess I can stay right here. (Giggles) Mm. (Gasps) Wait. No, I forgot to sign his field trip slip.
Ridge: It's already signed and in his backpack. You just can't help yourself, can you?
Brooke: Oh. (Chuckles) No. What?
Ridge: Worrying about our kids.
Brooke: You're right. I can't help myself. I'm a mom. That's what I do.
Ridge: And you're a great mom. Our kids are very lucky to have someone so concerned and diligent as you.
Brooke: Yeah, I just wish we could protect them from everything and everyone.
Ridge: Like Amber? (Sighs)
Brooke: Hope is hurting so much because of Amber. And after what she did to Rick, I just never imagined she would be back in our lives after all these years.
Ridge: Look, at least we don't have to deal with her directly. We'll leave that to Liam now and Bill.
Brooke: Yeah, but Hope's still in a lot of pain, and that just breaks my heart.
Ridge: Look, it doesn't have to be the end of that relationship. If she really loves him...
Brooke: (Sighs) Well, I think it is. If Amber is involved, and knowing the way she operates, I think that Hope and Liam will be over for good.
Bill: You need to go.
Amber: I-I'd like to wait.
Amber: I-I still want to make sure that he's okay.
Bill: He's not okay. And he's not gonna be okay as long as you're around. The kid just came back into my life. We have lost years together. So help me, you cost us any more--
Amber: It's not like I did this on purpose.
Katie: You sure about that?
Amber: Oh, yeah, yeah, I planned an explosion.
Katie: Look, nothing would surprise me. You obviously targeted Liam to get yourself pregnant.
Bill: Th--this whole concussion thing-- he didn't hit his head by accident that night, did he?
Amber: What do you mean?
Bill: It doesn't make sense. It never did make sense. You caused it.
Amber: What? No. I--
Bill: Liam thinks that he bumped his head and passed out on his bed, but that's not how it went down. You followed him home. You hit him in the head. You stripped him down.
Katie: And stripped yourself down. That's sick.
Amber: Okay, that is not the way this happened.
Bill: And then your-- your trailer just happens to blow up with Liam inside? Has it been your plan all along to kill my son?
Amber: I-I think you're letting your imagination go wild.
Bill: My imagination? You think...
Katie: Bill. Bill. Bill.
Bill: That I am letting my--
Katie: Not here. Not here.
Bill: My imagination? Is it my imagination that every time you are near my son, something tragic happens? If you think those cells multiplying in your body entitle you to get your dirty little hands on my money... if you're so sure of that that you would try and kill my son, you better think again, Sweetheart.
Dr. Montgomery: Bill. His internal bleeding seems to have abated. That's good news.
Bill: Is he awake?
Dr. Montgomery: Not yet, but you can see him.
Ridge: Logan, Hope is gonna be all right, no matter how it works out with Liam.
Brooke: I know--eventually. It might take her a while to see it, though.
Ridge: But we will be there right by her side till she does.
Brooke: Things have really come together for our family.
Ridge: Now that your daughter's boyfriend just got another girl pregnant?
Brooke: No. Yes. I mean, in a way, yeah, because it just shows me how strong we are. We can deal with anything. Things are actually going really good. Steffy's back from Paris, and Thomas is finding his way in the company. And Hope--I'm so proud of her. She's turning into a lovely, charming lady. And R.J., my goodness, he's getting bigger and bigger every day. We are so blessed, Ridge. Our kids are happy and healthy and thriving-- everything we've always wanted, everything we fought so hard to have.
Ridge: The destiny we've always talked about.
Brooke: And the reason why you are so unforgettable. I love you so much.
Ridge: I love you more.
Brooke: I love you more.
Ridge: No, I love you more.
Brooke: You more.
Brooke: You. (Giggles)
Katie: Go to him. Tell him everything that's in your heart.
Bill: All right, Kid, uh, here's he deal. You know me. I'm tough and, demanding. I push you... hard. So if you think I'm gonna be any different in this situation, you are wrong. You need to wake up. So do it. Wake up. We're gonna get you out of this bed, and we are gonna walk out of this hospital together. I am not accepting, uh, any other options. We were just getting to, uh, to know each other. Has it been easy? No. No, it hasn't been. You know how I felt, right? But the truth is... (Sniffles) The truth is... (Voice breaking) I really like being your dad. (Normal voice) And I'll will be damned if I'm gonna lose you now. I've got a lot to tell you. I've got, uh, a lot to teach you. You've got a lot to teach me. I love you, Son. (Sobs)
Katie: Bill. Bill, he's waking up.
Bill: Hey, Kid. It's your dad.
