Tawny: Don't worry, okay? It's all gonna work out, all right?
Amber: What's with all the cats?
Tawny: Oh, well, honey, these are just the neighborhood cats.
Amber: So they just, uh, they just come in here and they--they just make themselves at home? That cat was eating food off your table.
Tawny: Honey, they're strays, kind of like you and me, you know? I can't just send 'em away hungry.
Amber: I-I can't-- I can't live here like this. It's--it's unhealthy. I am pregnant.
Tawny: Well, that's the whole point. Now you don't have to live here like this. You see, that baby you are carrying in your tummy, honey, that is your ticket to a whole new life.
Hope: Mm. I wonder what your dad would say if he walked in now.
Liam: Oh, whatever. He'd think it's great. I've walked in on him and your aunt Katie a bunch of times.
Hope: Aunts, aunts-- speaking of aunts...
Hope: One of mine is getting married.
Hope: Yes, she and Justin are engaged.
Liam: Oh, cool.
Hope: I am so happy for them. And Marcus--I can't wait until Marcus finds out.
Justin: Thanks for drivin' all the way down here, son. I know you're busy.
Marcus: Yeah, um, what happened? You sounded pretty serious on the phone.
Justin: Yeah, it is serious. It's your--your mother-- her finger.
Marcus: Her finger?
Marcus: Mom? What happened?
Donna: I don't know. Something happened to it. I... I just can't stop staring at it. Your father and I are engaged to be married. (Chuckles)
Amber: How could I let this happen to me? I mean, first I get fired, and then I get pregnant, and then I get kicked out of Oliver's house. I just... I don't know. Look at me. I'm such a loser.
Tawny: You are not a loser. Look, honey, I am not gonna let you talk that way, all right? You are just a phone call away from a better life. Honey, you remember that life, don't you, when you were married to Rick, and you were a Forrester?
Tawny: You lived in that beautiful house. You wore the best clothes. I mean, you were really, really something. You know, honey, you were meant for that life, and you--and you can have it again.
Amber: No, Mother, I cannot.
Tawny: Yes, you can. Look, all you have to do is tell William Spencer III that you are carrying his child, and then you will never know another day of poverty. No, not for you, not for me, and not for your children.
Donna: So what do you think?
Marcus: I've never seen such a beautiful ring.
Donna: (Chuckles) No, I-I mean, what do you think about your father and me getting married?
Marcus: You know, just-- just seein' you guy's faces, it's easy to see how right you are for each other.
Marcus: I'm so happy for the both of you. Mom, Justin... (chuckles) Pop...
Marcus: This has been a long, long time comin'.
Marcus: I believe you're gonna have the kind of happiness that you always deserved. And I'm so blessed to have you guys in my life.
Donna: (Sighs) Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Stephen: Knock, knock. Congratulations.
Donna: (Gasps) Daddy!
Stephen: That is great news.
Donna: Daddy! (Laughs)
Stephen: Oh! That's fantastic. Marcus, I am so happy for your parents.
Marcus: Me, too. (Chuckles)
Stephen: And you, Sir, I couldn't be more proud to have you in the family.
Justin: Thank you.
Stephen: It's fantastic. And listen, I have a little surprise of my own. I am getting married as well.
Donna: You are?
Pam: (Singing Wagner's "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin")
Donna: You and Pam are engaged?
Pam: Isn't it romantic? We could have a double wedding.
Donna: (Sighs) Justin, do you think you could take Marcus out for a bite to eat now?
Justin: Uh, that's a good idea. Son, um...
Marcus: Yeah, sure. (Chuckles) Congrats again, Mom. I love you.
Donna: Thank you. I love you.
Donna: (Chuckles) Have you forgotten everything this woman's done to me?
Pam: Oh, Donna, for Pete's sake.
Stephen: No, sweetheart, I have not, and we have talked about all of it.
Donna: You've talked?
Donna: What about Mom?
Stephen: Donna, your mother will always have a place in my heart. But it's time for me to move on, and she would want me to.
Donna: Dad, I-I really want you to be happy. I do. But I don't want Pam at my wedding.
Stephen: Well, I'm sorry you feel that way.
Donna: But I want you there, Dad. I want you to give me away.
Pam: Um, Stephen, do you think I could have a moment alone with Donna?
Donna: Yeah, you know what? I-I would like a moment alone with Pam, too, Dad. Do you think you could excuse us?
Stephen: I'll be right outside.
Donna: Let me go on the record. Don't you ever expect me to accept you as my father's wife.
Pam: (Clears throat)
Amber: It's not gonna work, Mom.
Tawny: It can, and it will.
Amber: (Scoffs) It's not that easy. I mean, I-I don't know how you think we can just pull this off.
Tawny: Well, we--we're gonna need some help.
Amber: You realize this is Bill Spencer's son we're talking about here. You think he's just gonna give into this? He's gonna want, like, a dozen paternity tests. They are sophisticated ones, computerized ones. It's not Furnace Creek in some Podunk little country hospital.
Tawny: (Sighs) Honey, would you just stop selling yourself so short? All right, I have got a lot to tell you about, so you just hold your horses till I get back, okay?
Tawny: Amber? Honey, I want you to meet a friend of mine.
Tawny: This... is Carl Ferret.
Tawny: Sweetheart. Aw. There you go. Right there, okay? Right there. Okay, Carl, sit down.
Amber: So, Carl, uh, you're my mother's friend, hmm?
Carl: Yeah, right. Right, Tawny?
Tawny: Mm. Yeah, Carl here is a hospital lab assistant.
Tawny: Yes. I, uh, I tracked him down on an online dating service. I was doing some, uh, background research.
Tawny: Carl here works at that fancy hospital, you know, the one that all the rich people go to.
Amber: Oh, people like, uh, Bill Spencer?
Carl: So what's goin' on, Tawny?
Tawny: Going on?
Carl: Why am I here? Why did you ask me to come over?
Tawny: Well, Carl, how is that, uh, lab assistant job working out for you?
Carl: You know, now that you bring it up, I'll tell you what bugs me. I work just as hard as those lab techs. I know the equipment. I know the procedures. I know how to run all the tests. A lot of their jobs, they give to me. But I'm still just a lowly assistant.
Tawny: Aw. Well, what if I were to offer you, uh, a different job?
Carl: Oh, so that's it-- a job offer, huh?
Tawny: Mm. One with some real money.
Carl: Well, I'm all ears. What's the job?
Tawny: How do I know I can trust you?
Carl: Lady, whatever the gig is, do you have anyone else? So... what is it?
Donna: I cannot believe that my father is ready for marriage and certainly not to you.
Pam: We've been seeing a lot of each other, Donna, and we just didn't think that we had a need to advertise it.
Donna: Well, I don't think Stephanie's gonna look so fondly on you marrying my dad.
Pam: Look, I know that we've had our issues, but we've also had good times, too, haven't we? You remember "Price is Right"? I mean, it really should have been me up there on that stage. But I was happy for you, wasn't I?
Donna: You were miserable. You hated me, Pam. You've always hated me. When I was with Eric, you did everything you could to break us up. And when that didn't work, you--you resorted to more drastic measures. Remember, Pammy? Huh? The bear in the cabin?
Donna: The--the tanning room? You--you dyed my hair. You stained my teeth. You locked me in a steam room!
Pam: But don't you think you could find it in your heart to forgive me?
Pam: I did a lot of terrible things, but I apologize for all of them.
Donna: You should be in jail for most of them.
Pam: Oh, come on, Donna.
Donna: (Scoffs) You tried to kill me.
Pam: But I wasn't myself then.
Donna: Oh, right. Right. The infamous wad of scar tissue in your brain.
Pam: What? That's a medical fact. No, I have it in a jar at my apartment if you want me to show it to you.
Donna: No, I don't want to see your scar tissue.
Pam: But I'm all better now, Donna, thanks to your daddy. I was miserable before he came along. That's the Pammy that you knew. But it's not the woman that I am now. Please. You know me. You know that I hate begging for anything, especially from you, but I'm begging you now. Please let me come to your wedding. Let me sit proud as a peacock next to the man I love.
Pam: I promise you I won't do anything wrong. It would mean so much to your dad.
Stephen: So? Have we reached a verdict?
Liam: (French accent) Romance is in the air, no?
Liam: (Sighs) (Normal voice) And to think I almost lost you.
Hope: Mm. God, Am-- Amber--it's so strange. I mean, why would she sneak into your apartment and--and do what she did to you?
Liam: I mean, I don't know. I don't know. I don't want to talk about it anymore.
Hope: I know. Neither do I. She's not my favorite topic either.
Hope: But she's not far off my radar. Really, I don't trust her. You know, I-I can't help but wonder if she's up to something. Hmm.
Tawny: Here's the deal, Carl. My daughter Amber is pregnant.
Tawny: What? There is nothing to be ashamed about. It happens all the time, all right? Look, and you said that Bill Spencer goes to your hospital.
Carl: What does this have to do with Bill Spencer?
Tawny: Well--well, nothing with him, actually. It's with his son.
Carl: Oh. He's the father of your kid.
Tawny: No, but he could be. I mean, they spent the night together. I mean, they didn't have sex, but--but he thinks he-- that they did.
Tawny: What? So, look, we need Liam Spencer to be the father, all right? And--and--and--and, Carl, you are so smart and such a fabulous lab assistant. Y-you can make that happen, can't you?
Carl: Make the tests say that the Spencer kid's the father?
Amber: (Sighs) Mother, this is-- this is insane. Okay, Bill Spencer is one of the most meticulous men I have ever come across, and I guarantee you, his doctor is exactly the same way. These are real intelligent people we are dealing with here. They are never going to believe me.
Tawny: No, but they will believe a paternity test. Dr. Montgomery-- he's Bill Spencer's private physician, right?
Carl: How did you know his name? I never mentioned it to you.
Tawny: Well, yeah, this, uh, Dr. Montgomery, he and Bill Spencer go way back, right? He even moved here with him from New York, right? So Dr. Montgomery is gonna be the one that gets the samples. And Dr. Montgomery is gonna be the one who runs the lab tests, right?
Carl: And wouldn't you just know it? I'm the guy that assists on almost all of his lab work. But you knew that, didn't you, with all your research?
Tawny: See, honey? Your mama doesn't leave anything to chance. Carl here is our trump card.
Amber: But these are D.N.A. results we're dealing with. They're all technical, like, high-tech computerized stuff.
Carl: Don't worry. I've done hundreds of these tests.
Amber: How you gonna make it look like this is Liam's kid, huh?
Carl: It's risky, but I can do it. The question is, do you want me to?
Amber: Look, you are making this sound way too simple, and it really is not. There is going to be D.N.A. involved in this. D.N.A. of Liam's, of mine, of the baby's.
Carl: Forget the samples. It--it's not about the samples. It's about lab reports coming out of a computer-- words and numbers on a page. Now what you don't want is a zero. That means not the dad. But a nonzero number, well, hello, Daddy. The chance of paternity is almost for certain. That's what it's about. And that's what I can deliver. You see, uh, I'm a bit of a hacker.
Amber: Mother, we are dealing with dynamite here.
Tawny: Mm, yes, honey, but sometimes, that is exactly what you have to do.
Carl: See, what you haven't explained, uh... what's in it for me?
Tawny: Uh, Carl, I mean, Bill Spencer is one of the wealthiest men in the world. I mean, once he finds out that my Amber is carrying his grandchild, oh, think of the monthly support payments. We are talking in the thousands here. And Amber and I? Well, we would be real generous with anyone who helped us out along the way.
Carl: Well, I guess I could trust you, given what I know now.
Amber: Mother, come on. Do you actually believe that we could pull this off?
Tawny: Yes. Yes, I think we can, and we have to, for your baby's sake.
Carl: Look, I can do this. You guys have to make a decision. Well, maybe I'm just wasting my time.
Tawny: N-no. No, you are not wasting your time. Amber is gonna do the right thing. She just has to come to her senses.
Amber: Oh, the right thing? The right thing-- by tricking a man into believing he's fathered my child?
Tawny: Honey, if you don't try it, what do you have? You got no money, no nice, clean place to live, no future. This is your one shot, your one chance to give your baby a decent life.
(Cell phone rings)
Liam: (Groans) (Chuckles) Hello?
Amber: Liam, it's Amber.
Liam: What do you want, Amber?
Amber: I need to see you. There's something we have to talk about.
Liam: Yeah, I have nothing to say to you.
Amber: It's important. Are you at work?
Liam: Yes, actually, but I'm very busy.
Amber: I'm on my way over.
(Phone hangs up)
Liam: She's coming over here. She says it's really important.
Amber: I hate you for doing this to me. You have given me so much bad advice in my life, and here we go again.
Tawny: (Sighs) Amber, honey, the Forresters don't want you. Jackie M. doesn't want you. The truth is, no one wants you except me, your mama. And I only want what's best for you and for this baby. So think about it. We just have to fix this one... one little test, and you and your child will never want for anything else. You can't think about you. You can't think about me. Just think about that baby. Oh, Amber, it is the greatest gift you can give to that child-- for that child to grow up as a Spencer. There really is no choice. Amber, you gotta do it. Just do it, Amber. Do it. Do it.
