Brooke: So... (Sighs) How about these? They're really pretty.

Hope: Yeah.

Brooke: Is the party formal?

Hope: Uh, no, not really. Um, it's just kind of a big deal. You know, it's like Liam's debut.

Brooke: Oh. Bill introducing his son to the world. Now that's gonna be big headlines.

Hope: Mm, yeah. Thank goodness.

Brooke: Uh, Hope, that photo was a mistake. Thomas and I were just changing. There was a mix-up in the dressing rooms.

Hope: I know. Thank you for the--the jewelry.

Brooke: If there's something you want to talk about...

(Cell phone rings)

Hope: That's mine.

(Ring)

Hope: (Clears throat) Hey, Liam.

Liam: Hey. Where are you?

Hope: Uh, I'm--I'm at my mom's house getting ready.

Liam: Uh, are you gonna-- are you gonna be there until the party?

Hope: Uh, you know, actually, I've been thinking about it, and--and maybe you should fly solo tonight.

Liam: What? No. I want you there.

Hope: I know. But your dad doesn't.

Liam: Ohh! My dad-- who cares about him? You have to be there, Hope. I want to share this with--with my girl.

Hope: Okay. Okay. Then I'll--I'll see you soon.

Liam: Can't wait.

Amber: I don't know what's hotter, the buzz about Liam or this photo of Brooke and Thomas. Ooh.

Oliver: I thought you were looking for a live blog of Liam's party.

Amber: If you want someone on the inside, why don't you make some phone calls and get me on the guest list?

Liam: This will get Hope excited about tonight.

Bill: Hey, Frankie, check that with Hillary, all right? And make sure all bases are covered. No screw-ups tonight! (Chuckles) I need to focus on my son.

Liam: Ah.

Katie: You look fabulous.

Liam: I look like your husband.

Bill: Well, it doesn't get much better than that, does it?

Liam: Hey.

Bill: You ready to do this?

Liam: Yeah, totally. Absolutely.

Katie: I stopped by the room. It looks like it's gonna be a great party.

Liam: Yeah, do you think you could, uh, call Hope and tell her what he's got planned? I think she might feel better knowing what she's stepping into.

Bill: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hope's still coming?

Liam: Yes, and as a matter of fact, she tried to back out, and I changed her mind.

Bill: Well, I really wish you hadn't have done that.

Justin: Triple Americana to go, please.

Donna: Sure gonna miss this place.

Justin: Donna, hey. Yeah, I'm gonna miss it, too.

Donna: It seems like the only place we ever run into each other.

Justin: It may be the last time. I probably won't get out of the office much once Bill drops his bombshell tonight.

Donna: Right. Right. Liam's party.

Justin: Yeah. I was hoping Katie could put your name on the guest list.

Marcus: Compliments of Mr. William Spencer III, Madam.

Hope: (Laughs)

Brooke: (Gasps) Oh, my gosh. Let's see. Oh! Oh, my gosh. Hope, look. (Laughs)

Hope: Oh, my gosh. I saw this sketch on Dad's desk.

Marcus: Well, Liam had him put a rush on it, so...

Hope: I told him that it was my favorite. I--oh, just wait here. I'm gonna go try it on. I can't wait for you to see it.

Marcus: No, no, no, actually, I'll see it at the party, okay? I gotta go run these proofs to Oliver first.

Brooke: Oh. Well, it looks like Bill isn't the only one who wants to show off his son.

Marcus: Well, yes, it was nice of my biological father to invite me, I must admit. But I'm pretty sure he'll be stuck with bigwigs and stockholders the whole night.

Hope: Well, good. Then you can keep my company while Liam and Bill are soaking up the limelight.

Oliver: "It's no secret that Liam Cooper is Bill Spencer's son, but tonight's announcement is the first confirmation from Bill Spencer himself."

Amber: Boring. Find a site with more photos.

Oliver: This blogger has an invitation to the party.

Amber: (Sighs) Well, so would I if you would just get off your duff and make some phone calls. Because the second Bill Spencer makes his big announcement, that boy is out of my league. I need to get to Liam before he becomes William Spencer III.

Donna: Well, I'm--I'm sure you have a million things to do.

Justin: I did, but now all I have to do is wait for the shareholders to arrive.

Donna: Oh. Bill doesn't handle that himself?

Justin: Usually, yes, but tonight's all about family.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah. Marcus told me that you invited him.

Justin: You know, I was really happy he said yes. He's doing quite well in the fashion industry. Learned a lot from Eric. We're very proud of him. But he should also know that being a, uh, corporate lawyer is just as glamorous. (Chuckles)

Donna: (Laughs)

Justin: Well, actually, I would love for him to get to know me as his biological father.

Donna: Well, I-I'm sure he'll be very impressed. I know I would be.

Justin: Would you, uh, I mean, would you mind...

Donna: Oh, my God. No, I... (Laughs) I wasn't fishing for an invitation for tonight. I... (chuckles)

Justin: Donna, I would be honored if you'd be my date tonight.

Hope: Bill wants Liam in the spotlight, just Liam. He's--he's created this entire image for him. You know, it's William Spencer III, "Man of mystery and adventure."

Brooke: Hmm. That doesn't sound like Liam.

Hope: It's not at all. I mean, this guy is nothing like him. He's wild and daring and a jet-setter who does not have a girlfriend.

Brooke: Yes, he does. And you're going to be there with him.

Hope: Yeah, well, if Bill had anything to say about it, I wouldn't be.

Bill: Tonight, you are going to take your place in the Spencer pantheon. That's what we're celebrating. That s our focus.

Katie: And Hope understands that.

Liam: She--yes, she does. And so do I. Dad, this could very well be the most important night of my life. I want to share it with the most important person in my life. I'm not telling my girlfriend to stay home. She has to be there.

Brooke: Is that why you told Liam to go to the party alone tonight?

Hope: This night's not about me. It's about Liam's new persona.

Brooke: (Sighs) You can't expect Liam to pretend he doesn't have a girlfriend.

Hope: No, and--and Liam won't lie. But Bill could easily convince him to just avoid the question. You know, don't talk about me, don't get photographed with me. He will let people assume what they want.

Oliver: Marcus, I know how this looks, but it is not what you think.

Marcus: Hey, Ollie, chill. Hey, Amber.

Amber: Hi, Marcus.

Marcus: Hey, look, Brooke wants you to take a look at these proofs. So how are the, uh, happy housemates?

Oliver: You told him?

Amber: No. He stopped by a couple times when you weren't home.

Oliver: Marcus, you cannot tell anybody. If Hope found out, it would ruin--

Marcus: Hey, hey, hey, hey, it's cool, man, all right? Everybody has secrets. Don't worry about it. I got you.

Oliver: Thanks, man.

Marcus: Mm-hmm. Well, look, I gotta run. I gotta get back over to Spencer Publications, so...

Amber: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, uh, you're going to Liam's party?

Marcus: Mm-hmm. And I better get over there. I spent way too much time with Brooke and Hope.

Oliver: Wait, Liam's not with Hope?

Marcus: No, not yet. And to be honest with you, I really don't think she wants to be there anyway.

Hope: Okay, I should go get ready.

Brooke: Honey?

Hope: Hmm?

Brooke: The dress, the flowers-- Liam wants you there.

Hope: Well, I know he does.

Brooke: Well, forget about Bill and his plans. It doesn't have anything to do with you.

Hope: I know. That's the problem.

Brooke: No, I mean it doesn't have to affect you relationship with Liam. For many, many, many years, Stephanie had this different idea of she wanted with your father's life, and it didn't include me.

Hope: Well, lucky for you, Dad didn't agree.

Brooke: Yes, and I was very grateful for that. But ultimately, it was my choice. Do I let Stephanie get to me, or don't I? Bill can only call the shots in your relationship if you let him.

Hope: How do you always know what I need to hear?

Brooke: Because I'm your mom.

Hope: Oh, right.

Brooke: (Giggles)

Hope: Thank you.

Brooke: Yes. Just focus on Liam, okay?

Hope: Okay.

Brooke: Forget about everything else.

Hope: Okay.

Brooke: And I promise you, nothing or no one will ruin this evening for you.

Hope: Mmm. Thank you.

Brooke: Mm.

Marcus: No, Hope's going to the party.

Oliver: But she doesn't want to?

Marcus: Well, it's Bill. You know, it's Liam's thing. You know, it's his night, you know?

Amber: Well, if Hope doesn't want to party, I would gladly take her place. So Marcus, your dad is Bill Spencer's second command, isn't he?

Marcus: Mm-hmm. Let me guess. You want me to get you on the list?

Amber: I'm just saying, there'll be a lot of movers and shakers there tonight, and the sooner I can get another gig, the sooner I can get out of Ollie's hair.

Marcus: I get it. I'll talk to Justin, okay?

Amber: (Squeals) Thank you. Thank you. Okay, I'm going to get ready. It's party time.

Marcus: Yeah, you do that.

(Upbeat music playing)

Bill: Liam? Liam?!

Liam: Who are all these people?

Bill: Shareholders, employees, press. And they're all here to meet you.

Liam: Okay, that doesn't make me nervous or anything.

Bill: Spencers don't get nervous. We get pumped. We live for moments like this, and you're gonna have plenty of 'em.

Katie: My husband, the showman.

Bill: That's what this business is all about, right? Grabbing people's attention? If you want to get noticed, give them a story they hold onto and can't let go of.

Liam: Media mogul discovers the son he never knew he had.

Bill: Here you go.

Katie: It's a real-life fairy tale. (Chuckles)

Bill: (Chuckles)

Liam: (Chuckles)

Bill: Well, look who's here. Michael, how are you?

Michael: Bill, always good to see you. Katie.

Katie: Hello. Wonderful to see you.

Michael: Hi. Aren't you sick of this guy yet?

Katie: Not yet.

Bill: Hey, hey, hey now. Come on. Watch that.

Katie: (Laughs)

Bill: Michael, I want to introduce you to my son. Liam, this is one of our major shareholders and a good friend of mine, Michael--

Liam: I know you. I know exactly who you are. You--you're Michael Buffer. You're the famous wrestling and boxing announcer. You're like--he's a legend.

Katie: (Laughs)

Liam: You're a legend.

Michael: My pleasure. Good to see you.

Liam: Oh, my--my God.

Bill: (Chuckles) All right, uh, listen, Michael, we're gonna get started in a few minutes. Why don't you go grab a drink.

Michael: Sounds good. All right, see you guys later.

Liam: (Whispers) That's Michael Buffer.

Justin: Liam? Hillary said you had your script. Just double-checking.

Liam: Yes, right here.

Katie: You wrote him a script?

Bill: Uh, just some talking points. Hit the highlights.

Liam: Me and my dad, two peas in a pod.

Bill: Two ambitious men who live life to the fullest.

Liam: Um, speaking of life, the--the biggest part of my life isn't even in here. There's nothing about Hope.

Bill: All right, Liam, look, we've talked about you--

(Cell phone rings)

Liam: She's here. She's here.

Bill: Liam. Liam. He's killing me.

Hope: Hey. Hey, Liam. This place looks amazing.

Liam: Forget the party. Look at you.

Hope: Oh, thank you. (Giggles)

Brooke: Oh, thank you.

Justin: You look incredible.

Donna: [Chuckles] Not too bad on short notice.

Is that your mother?

Marcus: Was she on the list?

Hostess: No.

If she's here with your father, she doesn't have to be.

Amber: Uh, Amber Moore.

Hostess: Welcome.

Amber: Thank you. Ooh, there he is! The crown prince of the Spencer empire. [Sighs] Ooh, baby, I'm gonna treat your like royalty.

Katie: Yes, your office will be great.

Liam: Excuse me, I thought Hope was with you.

Katie: Oh, she's coming in a few minutes.

Liam: Ah! Um, can you tell her I went backstage. I've got to look over those notes some more.

Katie: You don't need to that.

Liam: Well, Dad wants me to play it his way. I mean --

Katie: Liam, listen. Forget about that. This is not like launching some big marketing campaign. This is how to save your father's life.

Liam: [Chuckles]

Katie: He's not doing all this for the press and shareholders. He's doing it for you. He's treating you like a big deal, because you are a big deal to him.

Bill: Well, what a surprise! I didn't know you were bringing a date this evening.

Donna: I forced myself on him.

Justin: That's not true.

Bill: Well, if it were true, you'd be a lucky man.

Justin: I just wanted to see what you had planned for this evening, that's all.

Bill: Well, it would be like everything else that I do -- bigger and bolder than anyone else.

Hope: Hey.

Liam: So, your Aunt Donna's here.

Hope: Really? Whose family reunion is this?

Liam: I know. I thought you'd be lonely.

Hope: [Chuckles]

Liam: So, I promise. Just let me and my dad get our speeches out of the way, and then I am all yours.

Hope: Well, good. Ah, speaking of Bill, he's looking at his watch.

Liam: Ah, gotta go. Wish me luck.

Hope: All right. Just good luck! [Laughs]

Bill: Relax, Champ. Hey, hey, it's going to be fine. All right? Take it easy.

Liam: Fine. My entire life's about to change. From Liam Cooper to William Spencer, III.

[Applause]

Bill: I want to thank you all for coming this evening. This is an auspicious event in the history of our company, and I promise you an extravaganza Bill style this is a new era at Spencer Publications. There are those who say that the print and magazine industry is headed for extinction. Well, I'm here to tell you that couldn't be further from the truth, and that's really what tonight is all about. It's a blending of past and present, of professional and personal. You see, several months ago, I was surprised to learn that I have a son. And so a journey began -- a journey that has brought us to this moment when I will officially introduce my son to all of you and to the world. I'm extremely proud of this young man, and as we look to the future, he will be part of the new face of Spencer Publications. With his personality, with his intellect, he will impact men, and more importantly, women all over the world. As the new face of Spencer Publications, he will prove that this company is young, that it is hot, that is sexy and prepared for the future, not at all a thing of the past. My son is unlike anybody else I have ever met, and it is my hope that I will enrich his life, that I will make him a better man. Because, ladies and gentlemen, that is what he has already done for me. And that is the greatest gift that any father can receive.
