Dr. Lewis: Then it is true. I thought for sure this chart was wrong.
Stephanie: Well, hello to you, too. I'm here. Gotta get this thing out now.
Dr. Lewis: Quite persuasive.
Brooke: Oh, no, it wasn't me. She made the decision all on her own.
Dr. Lewis: Well, this is the Stephanie Forrester wing. I suppose you have a right to check yourself in whenever you want.
Dr. Lewis: The beds are comfortable. The food's not too shabby. But we ought to discuss--
Stephanie: End of discussion. We gotta get this thing out now. (Coughing) You were right. (Coughs) I've wasted too much time. (Gasps)
Dr. Lewis: I'll call in Dr. Rabin. He'll advise you on the next step.
Stephanie: Surgery. Today.
Dr. Lewis: I understand. But it's the metastasized tumors that we need to l--
Stephanie: I understand that, too. (Chuckles) That's a very severe problem. But it's this tumor right now. It's suckin' the life out of me. I can feel it with every breath I take, so we gotta get this out today. Can you make that happen?
Dr. Lewis: I'll check Dr. Rabin's schedule.
Dr. Lewis: He'll have to decide if it's best to remove the primary tumor first. It's not always standard protocol.
Stephanie: It is today. Dr. Lewis, have you met my friend Dayzee? Dayzee, this is the wonderful Dr. Lewis.
Dayzee: Nice to meet you.
Stephanie: Dr. Lewis, that baby needs a good checkup. Could you arrange for that? I'll take, you know, care of it.
Dr. Lewis: Certainly.
Stephanie: Dayzee's very important to me, Dr. Lewis. She's the reason I... I made the decision to live.
Thorne: Wait, wait, wait. You got the same message?
Ridge: Yeah, to come here. It wasn't from you?
Eric: No. I'm as much in the dark about all this as you are.
Ridge: It's probably Mother.
Thorne: Well, she must be up to something. I didn't see her at the office all day.
Ridge: Come to think of it, I haven't seen Brooke there either.
Eric: Maybe they're together.
Ridge: That wouldn't surprise me in the least.
(Knock on door)
Eric: Another guest?
Thorne: Or whoever's behind this.
Dr. Lewis: Have him call me as soon as he's out of surgery. It's about Stephanie Forrester. He may need to scrub right back in.
Pam: Dr. Lewis, where's my sister?
Dr. Lewis: Right in there.
Stephanie: Oh, Pam.
Taylor: Thank you for calling us. I-I've been so worried.
Stephanie: Honey, it's not as bad as it looks. I--
Stephanie: Taylor told you.
Pam: Why didn't you?
Stephanie: I just didn’t... (Sighs) I just didn't want to say anything until I absolutely had to, okay?
Pam: Steph, I can't believe that you were actually thinking of just-- look, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. All that matters is you've come to your senses now. You are going to beat this. You have to. (Sighs) You have to.
Felicia: Don't just stand there with your mouths agape. I have more bags outside.
Thorne: Felicia, what are you doing here?
Ridge: Did you bring Dominick?
Thorne: Are you here for good?
Eric: Oh, you're the one who asked us to meet here.
Felicia: Whoa, slow down. Kristen and Tony are doing great. I had a lot of fun visiting with them in Florida. But the humidity? Ugh.
Felicia: Am I back for good? You never know with me.
Felicia: Dominick is spending two weeks with his dad, and the less said about that, the better. And, yes, I am the one who called you all together.
Felicia: Oh, and what am I doing here? Surprising all of you, but especially Mom, since I missed her birthday. Kristen and I, we felt really bad about that. Better late than never, though, right? Where is the old battle-ax anyway? And what's so important she ignored my summons?
Pam: And just so you know, Taylor didn't tell me about this. I-I overheard her talking to Dr. Lewis.
Stephanie: Okay, but I don't want anybody to talk about it anymore. I don't want the family to know I wasn't gonna do the chemo. It'll just upset them.
Stephanie: (Sighs) Oh, Dayzee. (Chuckles) Dayzee, this is my sister Pam.
Dayzee: Hi. Hi.
Stephanie: And that over there is, uh, my daughter-in--oops. My, uh, best friend Taylor. Taylor, that's Dayzee.
Stephanie: (Coughs) Dayzee’s, uh, Dayzee’s the one who's made me see that I have a very good reason for living. Yeah. She made me understand that, and that's a gift. You know, to have a purpose-- she made me understand there are a lot of people out there that need help. Some of just need a helping hand, you know? And that's what I want to do with whatever time I have left. Okay?
Pam: You just have to get through this first, Steph.
Stephanie: Okay, Pam. But I don't want anybody in the family to--to know that I wasn't gonna do the chemo. You have to promise me that. All right?
Brooke: It's fine. Yes.
Taylor: I won’t. Sure.
Stephanie: Thanks. But Eric-- (Stammers) I think Eric and the kids should know about the surgery now.
Brooke: I'll go make the calls.
Stephanie: No. No, you stay with me. You've tortured me enough these past few days. You can see me through this.
Stephanie: Taylor, will you?
Taylor: Sure. No problem.
Stephanie: (Coughs) Good.
Taylor: Well, maybe-- I think Pam and I could go and we can--
Stephanie: No, no. Eric's probably home now. So maybe, uh, it'd be best to tell him in person.
Taylor: Yes. Yes. That's exactly what we'll do. It's good.
Stephanie: Okay. Okay. Go ahead.
Stephanie: Yeah, it's okay.
Pam: I can't lose you, too.
Stephanie: It's okay.
Pam: Look, if I don't get back here before you go into surgery... (Sighs)
Stephanie: I'm--I'm not gonna leave you, okay?
Pam: You can just say that?
Pam: You can.
Dayzee: They're gonna bring her back when they're done--
Brooke: You can go with them if you're worried.
Dayzee: No, I-I better stay here. I don't want to be in the way.
Stephanie: Why would you be in the way? You're responsible for that baby.
Dayzee: Yeah, I'd get nervous with all the poking and the prodding. She's healthy. I know she is.
Stephanie: I'm sure you're right, but babies need regular checkups, you know. (Coughs)
Dayzee: You know, it's really nice what you're doing, especially with everything that you're going through. I mean, that you care enough to make sure she sees a doctor.
Stephanie: (Coughs) I'll do a lot more once I get this damn cancer out of me. (Coughs)
Dayzee: You were gonna give up?
Stephanie: Pretty stupid, I know. (Sighs)
Brooke: I did everything I could to get her to change her mind, and nothing worked, until you.
Stephanie: Oh, here we go.
Stephanie: I suppose you expect me to thank you.
Brooke: Oh, no. I wouldn't want to do that. I don't want you to have any regrets in case you die on the operating table.
Dayzee: So is sh-- she your mother?
Stephanie: Are you crazy?
Dayzee: Best fiends or something?
Stephanie: Oh, Lord, no. Marriage-- all forced upon me by marriage. (Sighs) Off again, on again, on again, off again. (Coughs) It's off--it's on now, right? But it'll probably be off right around the corner. (Sighs)
Brooke: Don't let her fool you. She really adores me.
Stephanie: I do? Can you imagine having your worst enemy torture you this way? Saying day after day--killjoy-- "You've gotta get well, you've gotta get well"?
Dayzee: Sounds kinda cool. I don't know. From my experience, the people that are hardest on us make us stronger.
Dr. Lewis: Good news. He'll do it.
Dr. Lewis: We'll get you prepped and in the operating room within the hour. I'll be there, too. Dr. Rabin said I could observe.
Stephanie: Oh, that's great. I feel really confident about this.
Dr. Lewis: Good. That'll help. I don't want to give you any false hopes. This is quite a battle you're facing. Even if the surgery is successful, it's only the beginning.
Stephanie: You just get this damn tumor out of me, and I'll take it from there.
Thorne: Where's Mother? That's a good question.
Eric: Actually, it is a pretty good question. Things have been different for your mother lately. Things have changed for her.
Thorne: Yeah, it's like she's living again.
Ridge: Letting go of what doesn't really matter.
(Knock on door)
Eric: Did you invite somebody else?
Felicia: Just Mom.
Eric: Huh. Hi.
Taylor: May we come in?
Eric: What's going on? What's the matter?
Taylor: Felicia, I didn't know you were in town.
Felicia: I just got in.
Taylor: Okay, well, um, everybody's here, so maybe this'll make it a little bit easier.
Felicia: Aunt Pam, are you okay?
Pam: Actually, um, no.
Taylor: It's about Stephanie. I'm--I'm afraid we have some bad news. She has cancer. She has stage four lung cancer, and it doesn't look good.
Eric: Where is she, Taylor? Where is she?
Taylor: She's in the hospital. She's about to have surgery, actually. (Sniffles)
Eric: I'm going to her. That's where I'll be.
Ridge: She's having surgery already?
Taylor: Time is of the essence, Ridge.
Thorne: You said stage four. What does that mean?
Felicia: It spread?
Taylor: Yes. To her brain. They're going to, um, do the surgery today to remove the primary tumor from her lungs. And then the doctors will discuss with us what options there are for her brain.
Thorne: How much time are we talking?
Taylor: I don't want us thinking like that, Thorne.
Pam: We have to be realistic, Taylor.
Taylor: No, but if she gets through the surgery, and it's successful, and she responds to treatment, then she could be with us for a very long time. I'm not--I'm not trying to lie about this.
Pam: I know.
Taylor: This is very serious. But we have to be strong for her. We have to be there for her. She needs us.
Felicia: (Sobs) (Sniffles)
Taylor: I'm just so... I'm so sorry.
Brooke: Do you think Stephanie’s making the wrong choice?
Dr. Lewis: Dr. Rabin would normally treat the brain tumor first. But there's something to be said when a patient feels so strongly.
Brooke: Is it risky?
Dr. Lewis: Surgery is always risky. But she has cancer. There's only so many choices she could make. You got to have faith. Now we are gonna remove the lower lobe, and we're gonna get that tumor out of her body like she's asking.
Brooke: And then?
Dr. Lewis: Then we move forward in treating the brain one day at a time, one step at a time.
Brooke: Oh, it just sounds so impossible. There's just too much.
Dr. Lewis: She's gonna need a lot of help, a lot of love, and support.
Brooke: She'll have it.
Stephanie: You must think I'm crazy... wanting to just give up that way and die.
Dayzee: (Chuckles) Well, I don't think that that lady you pretend to hate would have let you.
Stephanie: I suppose you're right. You know, it's kind of hard to make somebody your age understand something about life and death. I've had a great life. I guess I just didn't think there was very much left for me to do, so I was okay. I was ready to let go. But I... I'm looking at things differently now thanks to you.
Dayzee: I didn't do anything.
Stephanie: Sure you did. You told me to get a new set of glasses, see things for what they really are. Dayzee? When I come to, and I am gonna survive the surgery... I'm gonna try and make difference in people's lives-- yours, that beautiful little baby. I'm gonna try really to help people that need help for whatever time I have left. Thank you.
Felicia: I don't understand. Why are we all just now finding out about this?
Thorne: When was Mother diagnosed?
Taylor: I don't-- I don't know the exact timeline.
Ridge: Look, what are we waitin' for here? Let's just go to the hospital.
Brooke: Ready? (Sighs)
Stephanie: Yeah, I'm all prepped. They'll be here in a couple minutes.
Brooke: I saw Dayzee out there with the nurse. Is everything okay with the baby?
Stephanie: Oh, it's just paperwork, I think.
Brooke: Oh, good.
Brooke: "Best friends." (Chuckles) It's funny how some people perceive things.
Stephanie: Take my hand. Thanks. After all the things I've done to you all these years, and you still want me to live. (Chuckles) (Sighs) I'm glad I listened.
Brooke: No, it wasn't me. It was you, your stubbornness. Going down to skid row and chasing after Dayzee. (Sighs) If you hadn't done that--
Stephanie: Shh. It's important for me that you understand that I really appreciate your support. Now if things don't work out--
Stephanie: Shh. If I--if I don't come through the surgery, or I do come through it but the operation isn't a success--
Stephanie: Thank you.
Brooke: You're welcome.
Brooke: You're gonna get through this.
Brooke: You're gonna beat this. And as you said, you have a purpose now.
Brooke: A purpose.
Brooke: And if it's all right with you, I'd--I'd really like to be a part of that.
Brooke: Yeah. Yeah, I'd like to make a difference, too. I mean, helping others isn't just for the people at death's door, you know.
Brooke: (Chuckles) And I-I think it would be good for us to do something other than Forrester together.
Brooke: (Laughs) Good.
Stephanie: I don't want to die. And it--and it's--it's not because I'm afraid to die. I'm not really. It's just... (Sighs) I want to have some more time, you know?
Brooke: You will. You will have more time. This surgery is going to be a breeze. And I'm gonna be sitting here waiting for you when you get out.
Brooke: And then we can start helping people.
Brooke: Just think about that when you're in there, okay?
Stephanie: I will. I will. Don't worry. I won't give up. I wo--I-I won't give up the fight.
Brooke: Wow. Now that's the person I've been trying to talk to for the last few weeks. That is the Stephanie I know.
Stephanie: And hate.
Brooke: And love.
Stephanie: You're still a slut from the valley.
Brooke: (Laughs) Music to my ears.
