Steffy: If this is how you make nice... (Sighs)
Brooke: I've tried. I really have. But you won't meet me halfway. You think that I'm doing this for Ridge, that I'm not sincere, but that's just not the case. I love you, Steffy. I helped raise you. I hate the fact that we're not getting along anymore.
Steffy: And that's my fault why?
Brooke: Please... (Sighs) Stop being so defensive.
Steffy: It's called self-protection. You get hurt by somebody enough, you learn to put up walls.
Brooke: (Sighs) I know that I've caused damage. And I should have respected your parent's relationship more than I did, but there has to be some way that we can heal these wounds. I will try anything.
Steffy: You know, I'm happy that you admit some responsibility, but it doesn't change anything. My parents are still divorced. You ripped my family apart. Well, maybe there's something you can do. Leave this company, at least until this whole media frenzy dies down.
Jarrett: Eureka, boss! Once again, Jarrett Maxwell, intrepid reporter, has hit pay dirt.
Bill: All right, save the theatrics. Give me the report.
Jarrett: You know, those, uh, background checks on Liam and his mom were really quite easy to procure. The old photos, on the other hand, talk about revealing. Why didn't you tell me that you and his mom were once involved?
Ridge: Thank you, ladies. What do you want?
Liam: Uh, um, I-I heard that Forrester is suing Spencer Publications, and I came to offer my help. Um... I realize that I'm probably on your short list of least favorite people, but I am going to undo the damage that I caused, one way or another, even if that means fingering Justin Barber and Bill Spencer in open court, plus apologizing to Steffy, which I've already done, by the way. But I owe you... an apology, too, for just blurting that--that-- that you were my father, when all I had to go on were these articles and, uh, what my mom said about my father being at Forrester. It could be anybody in-- in these pictures, really. Anyway, I-I hope that you won't hold it against me or let it keep you from having an open mind.
Ridge: About what?
Liam: About me and your other daughter, Hope.
Bill: I'm not in the mood, Jarrett. Don't aggravate me.
Jarrett: (Sighs) Well... excuse me for saying it, but that is you and Liam's mother in that picture, is it not?
Bill: Just because you're in a photo with somebody doesn't mean you're involved.
Jarrett: Methinks thou doth protest too much.
Bill: Well, methinks you're looking to get cracked in the mouth, Jarrett.
Jarrett: Bill, really. Come on, what's the big mystery? I mean, she was a beautiful young woman. You were a handsome young man. Uh, still are, of course. (Chuckles) I mean, you had your relationship, found yourselves going your separate ways after graduation never to cross paths again, until years later when the lovely lady's son winds up in your employ by sheer coincidence. Or is there more to it?
Katie: More to what?
Ridge: What do you know about Hope?
Liam: Uh, well not much yet, but I was hoping to change that with your permission.
Ridge: My permission?
Liam: Yeah, I think your daughter's really special, Mr. Forrester, and I'd like to ask her out, if--if that's okay with you. Okay, it's not. You don't want me anywhere near her.
Ridge: I'm very glad we understand each other.
Ridge: Yeah? Okay, what time is it due? Let me know as soon as it comes in. All right, good. Yeah.
Hope: I heard what you said to my dad about me. (Chuckles) You're a really sweet guy, Liam. Here, come with me.
Steffy: So as hard as Brooke tried to sweet-talk me into letting her make amends so she could just rush back to dad and... are you even listening to me?
Thomas: Well, isn't that why you summoned me here?
Steffy: What's wrong with you? Hello? Step-mommy dearest didn't get what she wanted. You should be just as happy as I am. Why aren't you?
Thomas: Oh, I don't know. Maybe because I think Brooke deserves a break for once.
Ridge: We both knew it was a long shot.
Brooke: I tried.
Ridge: And I love you for it, Logan. I know it wasn't easy, especially given Steffy's attitude.
Brooke: She said the only way I can make things better is if I leave the company. That's what she wants. (Sighs) I don't think she's going to let it go.
Steffy: Are you kidding me? You know as well as anyone what her actions have done to this company. Oh, my God, I gotta show you this. Look, everyone is making fun of her, on the magazines, the internet. Check out this clip I found. It's called "The Chaperone."
Internet voice: Now with the parents gone and the children alone guess who's here with the chaperone
Internet voice: It's a favorite task she even brings a mask forget your fears
Internet voice: It's Brooke the chaperone so if you're ready to party just pick up the phone
Internet voice: Ain't no reason for being alone dial 1-8-8-8 Brooke the chaperone one more time
Internet voice: Dial 1-8-8-8 Brooke the chaperone. who's ready to party?
Thomas: Okay, I've seen enough. This whole thing is getting totally out of hand.
Marcus: Yeah, damn right it is.
Steffy: Marcus, what happened to you?
Marcus: You know those group of reporters outside?
Marcus: Well, I guess they got tired of waiting for Brooke’s statement. Started yelling all types of crazy stuff about her. So I went over there, trying to defend my auntie and the family name. I guess one of 'em threw an open bottle of water at me. You know, Thomas is right. This whole thing's getting way out of hand, and something needs to be done.
Steffy: Yeah, you're right. Something to be done. And you're gonna help me.
Ridge: Logan, you aren't going anywhere. That's not the solution.
Brooke: (Sighs) It would keep you from having to choose between your wife and your daughter.
Ridge: It's not gonna come to that.
Brooke: Ridge, it already has. When you didn't fire me today, like Steffy and your mother wanted.
Ridge: That was a business decision.
Brooke: No... (sighs) it's a lot more than that. I am your wife. And if it was anybody else that was in my situation, you would have fired them a long time ago.
Ridge: Logan, listen to me. Despite everything that's happened, you belong here. You have so much to contribute.
Brooke: I know. I know. And I want to do that, but I can't, now that I'm center stage in a scandal that has cost Forrester Creations so much, not to mention what it's still costing Hope and me and our relationship.
Liam: Uh, Hope, if your dad finds me out here with you, I'm toast.
Hope: Yeah, don't worry about my dad, okay?
Liam: Right. Yeah, well, Stephanie’s got a great sense of timing, too, like last night when she showed up at your door. Did I get you in trouble?
Hope: Yeah, uh, you know what? That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. Uh, that wasn't Stephanie. That was Oliver pretending to be Stephanie. He--he just wanted to get you out so he could be alone with me.
Liam: Oh. Uh, well, that--that almost sounds like you and the ex... not so much exes anymore. Even though he-- he and your mom...
Hope: I-I-I know. I know. I'm--look, it's not like things are 100% or anything. We still have a lot of issues that we need to work out.
Liam: Oh, H-Hope, you don't-- you don't owe me any explanation, seriously. And besides... (sighs) I've got, uh, other stuff that I'm dealing with, like getting my butt canned by the biggest jerk on the planet, Bill Spencer.
Bill: Jarrett's been on a reconnaissance mission for me. He was just reporting back.
Katie: Oh. So who's caught in my husband's crosshairs this time?
Jarrett: I should probably let Bill explain.
Katie: Sounds high-profile.
Bill: No. Actually, it's, uh, quite low-profile. An intern's been giving me some grief.
Katie: An intern? Since when does an intern register on Bill Spencer's radar?
Bill: Never. But this one is a little bit, uh, different. Liam Cooper. (Stammers) Look at this thing. He--he--he's a computer geek. I mean, academic decathlon. This--this guy, he--he's nothing like me. I-I'm--I'm an adrenaline junky. I--mountain climber, motorcycle racer, skydiver--
Katie: Okay. What am I not getting here? I mean, I know he was involved with the whole tribute debacle, but is there something more? I mean, what's the real scoop on Liam Cooper?
Hope: Bill Spencer fired you?
Liam: Yeah. I lost all my benefits and... oh, wait, no, I was an unpaid intern. I didn't have any benefits, much less a salary. I guess I'm not as bad off as I thought. Especially since I don't have to listen to the egomaniac anymore.
Hope: Oh, but you still have your I.T. job, right?
Liam: Oh, my God. See, that--th--that's what I like about you. You're always looking at the bright side of things.
Liam: You know, my mom was like that, even toward the end, even when she got-- even when she got really sick.
Hope: You really miss her, huh?
Liam: Yeah. It made what Dr. Evil said even harder to take.
Hope: What? What did he say?
Liam: (Sighs) Like an idiot, I told him about the search for my father, and when I mentioned that I lost my mom recently, he's like, "get over it. Everybody loses their mother one way or another." Right? Like, talk about callous. Like, he couldn't even spare...
Hope: Oh, my God.
Liam: An "I'm sorry" or--or--or pretend to care. I'm--I'm gla--you know what? I'm glad he hasn't made any mini-mes because I would pity them. I would pity them.
Bill: That's what I'm trying to find out, who Liam Cooper really is.
Katie: Why do you care?
Bill: Because he's a weasel, and I don't like weasels.
Katie: Okay, then fire him.
Jarrett: Oh, Bill already did.
Katie: Well, then why are we wasting time thinking about him?
Bill: Look, you know me, and you know the kid, right? Night and day difference.
Jarrett: There is a stubborn streak in both of you.
Bill: (Sighs) Has he packed his things up yet?
Jarrett: Yeah. No worries, boss. Young William Cooper will never step foot in this building again.
Bill: What did you call him?
Jarrett: Oh, Liam Cooper. (Stammers) Liam--I-I assume it's short for William.
Bill: No way. No way. Not that weasel. (Sighs) He can't be.
Ridge: Logan, don't do this to yourself. I will talk to Steffy again.
Brooke: Ridge, we both talked to her repeatedly. Your daughter knows that you want us to find a way to coexist. She also knows that she has the power to make that happen. But because of her resentment towards me, she's just not going to do it.
Steffy: I want you both to see something.
Ridge: Steffy, I'm with my wife right now.
Steffy: Dad, this can't wait. This is what's to come, the Forresters being physically accosted. A reporter threw a bottle of water on Marcus for trying to defend Brooke. Dad, come on. The press is turning on us more and more every day. You got to do something. You're the CEO. None of us is safe. It's in your hands. You gotta do the right thing for all of us.
Hope: My God, I-- I'm so sorry. I mean, Bill had no right to say that to you.
Liam: I'm just-- I'm glad I'm out of there. I mean, Spencer, that place, everything he touches is toxic.
Hope: No, not everything. I mean, he is married to my aunt Katie, who is actually very sweet and thoughtful. (Laughs)
Liam: Yeah, everything her husband ain't.
Hope: (Sighs) You really despise him.
Liam: The guy--no. The guy is sadistic, Hope. I mean, who--who says, like, m-making light of my mom's death, like it's no big deal? Who does that? Who does that? What kind of sick, uncompassionate-- I'm--I'm glad--I'm--I'm glad he fired me. Honestly, I'm glad he fired me, because I don't ever have to listen to Bill Spencer ever again.
Katie: Baby, talk to me. I-I'm completely in the dark here.
Bill: I don't have any answers.
Katie: Well, I'm not asking any questions, at least apparently the right ones. I-I just don't understand what's going on. I mean, I come in here, you're all upset about this intern that you fired. You have Jarrett digging into his background. I mean what are you looking for? I-I just don't understand. Kelly Hopkins. She's pretty. How do you know her?
Bill: It's not what you're thinking.
Katie: I'm not thinking anything.
Bill: She's the intern's mother. He may be my son.
Brooke: (Sighs) Marcus, I'm so sorry. Are you all right?
Marcus: I'll be fine. It was the press. They were all worked up, and they were yelling things.
Brooke: About me.
Ridge: We're very sorry you had to go through that. I'm grateful, though, you weren't injured.
Brooke: Thank you. Thank you for trying to defend me.
Marcus: Oh, of course.
Ridge: Marcus, would you excuse us for a moment?
Steffy: Dad, I know you want to stand up for Brooke. You've done it over and over again, and no one can question your loyalty. But you gotta see what's happening. Dad, we are being bombarded by the press at every front because of your wife. We have to change that. We have to refocus their attention and ours, concentrate on fashion, style, elegance, show the world that we're a family that functions, not dysfunctions. Which is definitely not the message that they're getting from these, all right? Every cover is about scandal, not a new line. That's what defines us now, scandal. You know, Dad, you keep saying it's gonna get better and better, but honestly, it's getting worse and worse. Today, a reporter threw a bottle of water Marcus. Tomorrow, who knows? Dad, look, I-I know you are in a terrible position, all right, and I know you have to make an emotional decision, but I am begging you. You have to do what's right for all of us, for the family, for the company and even Brooke. You know, just--just make her leave the company, at least until this scandal blows over. Dad, I-I'm not asking you as your daughter. I am asking you as an owner. You are CEO. You know what you have to do. Brooke has to go.... today.
