Brooke: (Sighs) I've never been so terrified in my whole life.

Ridge: Of me.

Brooke: Of losing you.

Ridge: Well, don't consider yourself too off the hook. I didn't say I'm happy.

Brooke: I just really thought you were going to hate me.

Ridge: Every man's fantasy is a wife who's ready and willing every moment of the day.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: I guess we can just consider this the downside.

Brooke: (Sighs) Oh. Ridge, please don't joke. (Sighs)

Ridge: Logan, you're shaken enough for both of us.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Does Oliver know that you were you and not Hope?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Hope: Okay, well, I'm getting in the water. I mean, whatever my parents are doing, they must--well, I don't know. They're usually more like teenagers than I am, so...

Oliver: Ma--maybe I should go.

Hope: What? Why? No, whatever's keeping them, it isn't you. No, they just--they have things to talk about, you know. I'm leaving tomorrow.

Oliver: I wonder, does your dad keep a gun?

Hope: (Laughs) What?

Oliver: His mother does. Aggie told me.

Hope: Why, are you afraid there's gonna be some kind of shotgun wedding before I leave to keep you faithful?

Oliver: I hate myself for telling you to go.

Rick: Uh, hi. Did you want to see me?

Steffy: No. Nobody told you?

Rick: (Chuckles) Apparently not. I just got off a plane from New York and was gonna come to work and clear off my desk.

Steffy: Oh, it's been taken care of. This is my office now.

Rick: I can see that. Since when?

Steffy: Since my mother and my grandmother gave it to me. You could probably have Brooke's office. She won't be needing it.

Rick: May I ask how you managed to pull this off?

Steffy: Me?

Rick: Yeah.

Steffy: She feels it's in her best interest. Didn't she tell you? We're friends now.

Rick: Oh.

Steffy: She's talking Donna out of taking half of Granddad's share of the company as we speak.

Rick: Really?

Steffy: Yeah.

Rick: You know that's not going to happen?

Steffy: You can ask her. She should be here any minute.

Rick: Okay... is this campaign of yours against Hope and--and my mother, is it because I hurt you in the past?

Steffy: No. No. You know, I-I think I slept with you so I could tell myself that finally, finally I have taken something from your mother, not the other way around.

Rick: (Scoffs)

Steffy: Childish, sure, but I don't have to play those games anymore. I have more reliable methods.

Hope: (Sighs heavily) God, this is crazy. This is all happening so fast. I mean, why--why am I leaving, again? I mean, hon--honestly, if I didn't feel like it would make you think less of me--

Oliver: Hope, that--that could never happen.

Hope: Then I don't want to go. I don't. And I know that sounds hopelessly immature.

Oliver: No.

Hope: Yeah, well, it--it will to my parents.

Oliver: Uh... I wish I'd never met you and--and I was meeting you now, tonight.

Hope: W-why? I-I-I don't understand that.

Oliver: I'm sorry if I ever let you think that I'd ever want to spend even one day without you.

Hope: (Sighs) (Sighs)

Ridge: I thought he and Hope were not having sex.

Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, they're not.

Ridge: Well, obviously, he's biding his time if two words from you were all it took.

Brooke: They are so much in love. He was horrified.

Ridge: Yeah, I'll bet.

Brooke: He was. He was devastated at the thought of losing her and how it might hurt Hope if she were to find out.

Ridge: Logan, can you not pick right now to tell me what a wonderful person he is?

Brooke: No, that's not what I'm saying. Hope's only leaving for Boston because she thinks that that's what Oliver wants her to do. (Sighs) I-I guess I'm more to blame than he is. I really thought it was the best choice. We just needed to protect her.

Ridge: Well, if the truth comes out, what does it matter where she is when she hears it?

Brooke: Ridge, I'm sorry. But this is part of Steffy's plan. This is another one of her conditions for keeping quiet. She wants Oliver to stop seeing Hope and start seeing her. [ Sniffs ] Honey...

Hope: (Sighs) I have to tell them that I don't want to go.

Oliver: Maybe they'll be having second thoughts, too.

Hope: No. No, they will want to kill me.

Oliver: You're just changing your mind.

Hope: (Groans) Yeah, one too many times.

Oliver: It's my fault. I-I sold you on Boston.

Hope: No, my mother was all on board for this.

Oliver: She may see it differently now.

Hope: (Sighs) If--if they're up there making plans right now, I-I--well, I have to try. I have to.

Oliver: Okay. I'll--I'll go then.

Hope: Wait. What? No, no, no, no, no. No, I'll be right back.

Oliver: You might not.

Hope: Wait for me.

Oliver: If you want.

Hope: Wish me luck. (Sighs)

Oliver: But... (Sighs)

Ridge: Maybe Oliver misunderstood.

Brooke: He didn't. Steffy wants to see what could happen with them. She thinks that they could have something really special.

Ridge: So she's blackmailing him, too?

Brooke: That's what it comes down to.

Ridge: She insisted that you leave the company, that Hope goes away to college and she starts dating Oliver, or she goes public.

Brooke: (Sighs) It would be a terrible, terrible scandal. And the worst part for me... (Sighs) My daughter would turn her back on me for good... especially knowing how she was conceived. So... (Sighs) Oliver and I went along with everything that Steffy wanted, and we thought it was going to be okay, especially when Hope accepted her scholarship in Boston. But then Steffy found out that your father was losing half of his shares of Forrester to Donna. So she decided that she wasn't done with me. And I realized that she would never be done with me.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Brooke: My real fear is that she's going to tell Hope in spite.

Ridge: She won't. I'll talk to her.

Brooke: Ridge, I don't like putting you between your daughter and me.

Ridge: Oh, I think Steffy's already done that.

Brooke: How can I ever thank you... for your love, your support, your understanding... (Sighs) Of something so incredibly insane?

Ridge: You are still my Logan, as crazy as you make me sometimes. (Sighs)

Brooke: (Sniffles) (Laughs)

Steffy: No. If anyone's going on their hands and knees to check the cables, it's going to be you, not me. I am paying for 24-7 support, and that's what I'm expecting. (Slams phone) (Sighs) Hey, did you sabotage my laptop?

Rick: (Sighs)

Steffy: I know you'd know how.

Rick: Maybe it's just picking up some interference from this power trip that you're on.

Steffy: Oh, what happened to that sweet girl you used to know? I decided to stop being a footstool for people on their way to getting what they want, people like you. I found out that I like being the trampler, not the trampled. Go figure.

Rick: I see. So you're saying if I'm not careful, I could wake up one morning on a cargo plane bound for Siberia?

Steffy: Mm. You might want to start emphasizing your sentimental value.

Hope: Mom?

Brooke: Oh.

Hope: Hi.

Brooke: Oh, hi, honey. I'm sorry. I-I was--you know what? I was gonna go change and come down to the pool, so... (Sighs)

Hope: You've been crying. You're... (Sighs) You're upset about me leaving tomorrow, aren't you?

Brooke: I--it's-- it's just selfish.

Hope: Hey, where's Dad? I-I kind of want to talk to you both.

Brooke: I--well, he had to actually go do something, and I'm not quite sure when he's gonna be back.

Oliver: Your parents take off?

Ridge: You wish. I'm hungry. What's for dinner?

Man: (Sighs) The power cable's good.

Steffy: Would I have power even if it weren't?

Man: The Ethernet and the wireless both check out. But there's no connectivity.

Man: Yeah.

Steffy: Did I not tell you guys this on the phone?

Man: Well, I'd like to run some diagnostics, try to find out what's corrupted.

Steffy: Eh, everything gets corrupted around here. It's fine. I'm not in a hurry.

(Knock on door)

Steffy: Come on in, Brooke. Dad.

Ridge: Is this what you're waiting for? Brooke said you persuaded her to talk to Donna.

Steffy: Yeah, a-about her 12.5%, but--wait, this says...

Ridge: Your grandfather and I agreed that you should have it.

Steffy: Dad, I'm--I'm part owner of the company?

Ridge: Does anyone deserve it more?

Steffy: (Laughs)

Ridge: Sweetheart, it was all lost. My life's work, my father's life's work, everything. You got it all back. And now you've done it again. You kept it from leaving the family, with Brooke's help.

Steffy: Uh, w--Dad, forgive me for saying this, but Brooke doesn't belong here. Neither does Hope. And if we learned anything, haven't we learned that if we open the doors to outsiders or to anyone who's not in the direct line of you and Granddad, we lose our way? This is-- this is the air we breathe. You know, there's a graciousness, a way of carrying yourself, and you have it. Phoebe had it. Mom and Grandma. I-I don't think I always lived up to it, but...

Ridge: You did. You, my dear, are the standard-bearer.

Steffy: The outsiders don't see it. You know, we try to explain it to them, but they don't have the eye for it.

Ridge: Maybe you're right. It all feels so much easier now.

Steffy: I know I'm right.

Ridge: Oh, I almost forgot.

Steffy: Hmm?

Ridge: This is a little something for you.

Steffy: (Gasps) Dad, what... vice president?

Ridge: Mm.

Steffy: Wha--

Ridge: Sweetheart, I am so proud of you. So proud.

Steffy: Ohh. (Sighs)

Man: Ms. Forrester?

Steffy: What are you looking at?

Man: Uh... (Stammering) Well, most of our clients don't look as happy as you. (Chuckles)

Steffy: Not many people have as much reason as I do.

Hope: Look, I know that this is gonna seem like I'm just being frivolous and--and not caring about my future or anything--

Brooke: Did Oliver leave?

Hope: No. No, he's still there. We--we were waiting for you, and, um, he--he said something, actually, that--that really...

Brooke: Well, I'm--I'm sure you must have noticed that he's not really himself tonight.

Hope: He said that he wished he had never told me to go away.

Brooke: I'm sure that's true.

Ridge: Do you have something to say to me?

Oliver: Uh, Mr. Forrester, I--

Ridge: I'll tell you what you have to say to me. You are ashamed and deeply, deeply sorry.

Oliver: It's--it's true. I-I am.

Ridge: And you will never breathe a word of what happened between you and my wife to another soul.

Oliver: I mean, I never will.

Ridge: This is what's gonna happen. Hope is never gonna hear about any of this.

Oliver: Well, tha-- thank you, Mr. Forrester.

Ridge: And you will never come within 6 feet of my wife ever again...

Oliver: Right.

Ridge: Unless she initiates it. Her I trust completely. Is that understood?

Oliver: Yes. I--

Ridge: Well, all right then.

Oliver: Wow. I-I can't tell you how relieved I am. (Groans, coughs)

Ridge: That is for thinking you could do such a thing to Hope, "A," without a condom and, "B," outside where everyone could see you.

Oliver: (Coughs)

Ridge: You will not wait for her to tell you when she's ready. I will tell you when she's ready. Got it?

Oliver: Yeah. Yes, sir.

Ridge: Good. I'm glad we had this little talk.

Oliver: (Coughs) No, thanks. My stomach's...

Hope: Oh, come on. Come on. Mom, we used to do this all the time, remember? We would come outside with our ice cream, and we'd look at the stars.

Brooke: (Laughs) Yes, I do remember that.

Oliver: Okay. Thanks.

Hope: (Giggles)

Oliver: You just missed Mr. Forrester.

Hope: Wait, Dad--dad was here? Mom, I thought you said that he had a thing.

Brooke: Yes, he told me he had to go talk to Steffy about something really important. I guess he just wanted to stop by and say good-bye to Oliver.

Oliver: He's a gentleman, all right.

Hope: Was he in a good mood?

Oliver: I think he was kind of amazing.

Hope: Huh. Oh, I can just imagine how relieved he's going to be that he doesn't have to play referee between me and Steffy anymore after tomorrow.

Oliver: He loves you, Hope.

Hope: Yeah. Oh. (Sighs) Mom, I... (Scoffs) I really don't want to be at odds with Steffy anymore. (Sighs)

Brooke: Honey, I don't blame you for that.

Hope: Well, don't blame her either. I mean, it's not her fault. It's just this weird thing that's been built into our family that makes us think we have to be in competition with each other. You know, but I don't feel that way. You know, if--if I weren't leaving tomorrow, then I-I would do everything I could to--to try and be friends with her again, you know, like we used to be.

Brooke: I'm sure you would.

Hope: I guess, uh, I guess Dad wouldn't be too happy about that, though, huh?

Brooke: About what?

Hope: If I, um-- look, I-I know you think it's--it's really important that you follow through with your decisions and--and you're responsible with the choices that you make. You know, you've been teaching me that since... forever. But, um... what if you really, honestly think that you made a mistake? You know, just a-a spur-of-the-moment decision that could potentially ruin your life? Do--do you have to let it?

Brooke: You have to correct it. And the best way to do that is to start getting really, really honest.

Man: Uh, I-I think... (Chuckles) One of your drivers is corrupted. It's--it's screwing things up. So if I can't fix it, our instructions are to replace and recycle.

Steffy: Cool. Make sure I get something nice.

Man: (Chuckles)

Steffy: Dad! Hey! Do you like my new office?

Ridge: I'd like to speak with my daughter.

Steffy: Oh, m-my laptop had a seizure. Too many Rick radio waves in here, I think.

Ridge: Guys.

Man: Uh, yeah, uh... (Chuckles) We're gonna roll. We'll check back. (Clears throat)

Steffy: Okay, so I have some really good news for you.

Ridge: Would it be about the, uh, piece of the company your grandfather lost in the divorce?

Steffy: Brooke told you?

Ridge: That's right.

Steffy: Why don't you look happy?

Ridge: Steffy, she told me everything.

Steffy: About?

Ridge: Everything. She never went to Donna. She went to me.

Steffy: Dad, are you okay?

Ridge: What do you think?

Steffy: (Sighs) Look, I-I never wanted you to know, but you can stay with us tonight. Whip and Mom won't mind. We're gonna help you get through this.

Ridge: Through what?

Steffy: Look, I know-- I know it's hard right now. You're in shock.

Ridge: I'm not leaving Brooke, if that's what you're thinking.

Steffy: Well, you can't stay with her.

Ridge: I blame myself for this. I should have seen it coming.

Steffy: Wait--no. Dad, she was unfaithful to you.

Ridge: But instead, I said to myself, they're all adults. They're all good people. They will find the right relationship without me interfering.

Steffy: Oh, no, no, no. You cannot forgive this. She betrayed you with her own daughter's boyfriend.

Ridge: No. No.

Steffy: With her own daught--

Ridge: You did. I love my wife. I trust my wife. My judgment of what happened is the only one that counts now. Steffy, I cannot let you blackmail her or that boy. You're gonna let it go completely. No more threats. It's over. Do you understand me?
