Brooke: Mm. Mm. Are you feeling better?

Ridge: (Sighs) Well, because of you.

Brooke: Mm.

Ridge: (Inhales sharply)

Brooke: Well, I wasn't able to buy back the company.

Ridge: Yeah, but you tried.

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: The woman I love was willing to give up absolutely everything she had to make me happy.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: So why would I complain about work, huh? I'm the happiest guy in the world.

Brooke: You're the happiest guy in the world who hates his job.

Ridge: But I don't, though. I don't. I love what I do. I just didn't expect to be doing it for Spencer Publications.

Brooke: Mm. But you won't be. Remember what you told me? You're doing it for me and for the children and for the pride of creating something gorgeous and beautiful.

Ridge: Okay. Thank you for the reminder.

Brooke: (Giggles) Anytime. And... (Sighs) if the job still is difficult, I mean, there's ways to make it more pleasurable.

Ridge: You know, there might actually be an upside to Bill and your sister running this place.

Brooke: Hmm. I think so. Mm.

Bill: Mm.

Katie: Mm. Mm.

Bill: Mm.

Katie: Is this how you call all of your meetings to order?

Bill: It might boost attendance if I did.

Katie: (Giggles) Mm. Oh, my gosh. You are gonna have so much fun on our honeymoon.

Bill: Mm-hmm.

Katie: Speaking of which, I have brochures.

Bill: No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. No, no more brochures. No cake samples, napkins, flowers-- you can do it.

Katie: (Laughs)

Bill: I trust you. I love you. Can't wait to get married, but you can do it.

Katie: Okay. Well, apparently, my good judgment doesn't just apply to planning our wedding. Hollywood glamour, here we come.

Bill: I didn't say that.

Katie: You said you were impressed.

Bill: I said I was going to think about it.

Katie: Oh, come on. I saw that look in your eye. Steffy sold you on that idea.

Bill: Did you drive all the way over here just to rub it in, huh?

Katie: No. It's just that you left so quickly, I didn't have a chance to thank you properly.

Bill: Well, start thanking.

Katie: (Giggles)

Bill: Mm. All right. I'll give it to you. Steffy's Glamour campaign is a good idea.

Katie: I'm sure she's got a million more where that came from. She's hungry. She wants to make her mark.

Bill: Mm-hmm. All right. Well, let's give her a shot. We haven't found anybody for your old job yet.

Katie: Huh. Head of P.R.

Bill: Mm-hmm.

Katie: That's a good idea.

Bill: Well, she knows the business, makes a good pitch.

Katie: And she's got the right last name.

Bill: Yeah, and the right attitude. She put her personal loyalties aside to do what was best for the company. And, yes, rewarding her for it could inspire the rest of the team.

Katie: Hmm.

Owen: All right, I'm, uh, here.

Bridget: Oh, good.

Nick: Hey, hey. Uh, shut the door.

Owen: Okay. What, uh, where's everybody else?

Bridget: We just wanted to talk to you privately.

Nick: Yeah. About this.

Bridget: Because Nick and I want to add to our family. I-I can't carry a baby to term. But that doesn't mean that Nick and I can't have our--our own child anyway.

Nick: Now you looked into this, right, the surrogacy thing?

Owen: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it seemed legit.

Bridget: Is this the exact agency that you used?

Owen: Yeah. Andrea Kessler-- she's the woman that helped me. She was great. I still got her card. If you guys were motivated, I'm sure she could set up some appointments with some candidates today.

Bridget: Oh, well, let's call her right now. Or do you think we should do a little bit more research? But if we could finally get started on having a baby, I don't want to wait another minute.

Katie: Oh, good. You got my text.

Steffy: Oh. Did Bill accept my proposal?

Katie: Even better. You're getting a promotion.

Steffy: Wait. Would I be working on the Hollywood campaign?

Katie: You'll be running the campaign.

Steffy: That's the job for head of P.R.

Katie: Mm-hmm.

Steffy: Head of P.R.?

Katie: Congratulations.

Steffy: Oh, my--oh, my God. Katie, t-thank you! Thank you so much.

Katie: You're welcome. (Laughs)

Steffy: I promise I won't let you down. Oh, my God.

Katie: You're welcome. But the thanks really goes to Bill. You really knocked his socks off, kid.

Steffy: Oh. Oh, wow. My own campaign.

Katie: The first of many.

Steffy: (Exhales deeply) Well, could you thank Bill for me?

Katie: You should thank him yourself.

Steffy: No, I don't-- I don't want to bother him. I bet he's really busy.

Katie: Trust me. Do it now. Once this campaign starts, you'll be too busy to talk to him.

Bridget: Okay, thanks. Oh... my... goodness! She's on her way over right now.

Owen: Hey, what did I tell you?

Bridget: Ooh.

Owen: If you're ready, then Andrea Kessler can make it happen. I mean, you guys are ready, right?

Bridget: Y-yeah. Yeah. Do you think we should discuss it some more?

Owen: Listen, this is-- this is a big decision. I mean, you and Nick are gonna be the biological parents. The surrogate's not gonna have anything to do with raising this child. But she is gonna be a part of your life, and nine months can be a long time.

Bridget: Is that what you were concerned about?

Owen: Well, I mean, not at first. But then you start thinking, you know, about all the things that you have to look at. You got to look at her--her lifestyle, her medical history-- those things are important. You're gonna be spending most of the year with this woman dealing with some very intimate stuff. And plus, she's got to be somebody that you both get along with.

Bridget: Right. I mean, she's got to be really, really special. She's gonna be carrying our baby inside of her. She's just-- she's got to be perfect.

Nick: She will be. She will.

Brooke: We can't hide out in here forever.

Ridge: Why not?

Brooke: Hmm. Don't you want to find out if Bill Spencer signed off on Steffy's Hollywood glamour idea?

Ridge: Steffy's idea? I thought that was Katie's.

Brooke: Yeah. Well, if you needed proof, there it is.

Ridge: Well, I guess it's a good thing I stayed on, then.

Brooke: You're using your talent to help your children find their own. Steffy, Thomas, Hope and R.J.-- Forrester's their legacy, and you're helping to preserve it.

Ridge: Well, let's just hope that Bill Spencer knows a good thing when he sees it.

(Knock on door)

Bill: Justin, no more questions. I told you "The Catwalk" is your show. If I didn't believe you could do it, I wouldn't have given you the job.

Steffy: Okay. I'm really, really glad to hear that, Mr. Spencer.

(Door closes)

Brooke: (Giggling)

Ridge: (Laughs)

Brooke: Oh.

Katie: Where have you two been?

(Door closes)

Brooke: Uh...

Katie: Uh, forget it. I-I don't really want to know.

Ridge: How's it going with the campaign?

Brooke: Did you talk to Bill?

Ridge: Hollywood glamour, old-school elegance-- I think it's brilliant.

Katie: I agree. I gave him my pitch, but I thought that it might be better if Steffy pitched her own idea, and I was right. She was wonderful-- very professional, very effective.

Brooke: So Bill gave the go-ahead?

Katie: Yes. And then I gave her my old job.

Ridge: As head of P.R.?

Katie: She's ready. She is so excited to take on the challenge.

Brooke: Okay. I-I know you're trying to bring about the spirit of cooperation, but are you sure that Bill really--

Katie: It was Bill's idea.

Ridge: Bill Spencer promoted my daughter?

Katie: Yes. He was very impressed.

Steffy: Wow. Cool office.

Bill: Well, I'm glad you think so.

Steffy: Um, look, I-I know you're busy, and it'll only be a minute, but I just wanted to--to thank you for, um, okaying my campaign and giving me a promotion.

Bill: I didn't give you anything. My employees earn their way up the ladder.

Steffy: So I should be patting myself on the back?

Bill: If you arm is long enough, sure.

Steffy: And I can-- can do that at Forrester in my brand-new office.

Bill: Hang on a second. Here.

Steffy: What's this?

Bill: My interior designer's phone number.

Steffy: Well, let's just wait and see if the campaign is a hit.

Bill: You're having doubts?

Steffy: No. No. It's like what you said-- sometimes you just got to hold your breath and dive right into the deep end. (Laughs)

Bill: Sink or swim. I'm giving you an opportunity, Steffy, to show the world what you can do, to show your family what's possible if we all work together. You can be the example. You can give them a glimpse into the future of this company-- everyone working together, everyone succeeding as a team. Can you do that for me?

Steffy: Yeah, definite-- I'll do my best. What?

Bill: Oh, I'm--I'm just seeing the resemblance, that's all-- your namesake.

Steffy: My grandmother.

Bill: Mm-hmm. You have a critical role to play at Forrester Creations. In fact, I think you have the potential to be as important to this company's success as your grandmother was.

Steffy: But I'm not even as near--

Bill: As determined? As tenacious? As confident?

Steffy: The word you used was stubborn.

Bill: It's a good word. You won't get very far in business if you take "no" for an answer, and you won't get anywhere with me.

Bridget: Hmm. Do you think Jack's gonna be okay with this? I mean, I would never want him to feel like he's not enough.

Nick: We are giving Jack the greatest gift we can give him.

Bridget: Oh.

Nick: Someone to blame for all of the things he does wrong.

(Intercom beeps)

Bridget: (Laughs)

Nick: Yeah? Send her in. Thank you.

Bridget: Ooh! Okay, um...

Nick: (Sighs)

Andrea: Mrs. Marone. Andrea Kessler. I was so pleased to get your call.

Bridget: Oh, thank you so much for coming. Uh, this is my husband Nick.

Nick: How do you do?

Andrea: Good to meet you.

Nick: Thank you. You, too.

Andrea: I understand you got my number from your stepfather.

Nick: My mother's husband. Right. Yeah. That's, uh... (Clears throat)

Bridget: Um, yeah. Uh, you know, um, we have a lot of--of questions for you. Obviously, we know a little bit about your service, but we want to hear more, so please, sit down.

Nick: Yeah.

Andrea: Sure.

Nick: Here.

Andrea: I'd be glad to answer any questions you have. I have a few for you, too.

Bridget: Thank you, honey. Well, we can definitely start with, um, we're meeting you because I couldn't carry a baby to term.

Andrea: Oh. Sorry.

Bridget: Well, Nick and I tried, and--and--and now we're ready to try other avenues.

Andrea: You're not alone. As we like to say at the agency, we are in the business of building families. Why don't I find out a little bit more about you two? And then I'll be able to help you narrow down your search. Bridget, let's start with you.

Bridget: Oh. Um, well, I-I'm happily married.

Nick: (Laughs)

Bridget: I have a beautiful, beautiful baby-- stepson.

Nick: Right.

Bridget: And I-I used to be a doctor, but now I work here a-as a designer. And I love to-- I love yoga, horses, um, and I love the water.

Nick: I like the water, too.

Bridget: Uh, he used to be a sailor.

Andrea: Used to be a sailor? Used to be a doctor? So you two are obviously comfortable with big, life-altering changes.

Nick: Y-yeah, I guess, to say the least, huh? (Laughs)

Bridget: Yeah. But we don't go looking for them.

Nick: Let me just put it to you this way. We have, um, we've been through a lot of things together, and, uh, I think we are capable of facing anything. And I certainly know I'm very grateful for what I have been through to have been through it with this beautiful woman.

Katie: Steffy is probably over at, uh, Spencer Publications.

Brooke: Bill wanted to see her?

Katie: She wanted to thank him in person. This is a big moment for her and for the company.

Ridge: Well, she's been working hard. She's learning the business. I'm--I'm very happy she's getting the recognition.

Katie: Yeah, and she will. And this isn't just about her. It's about your work. It's about Eric's work. We just hope that this proves that Bill and I really want to make this a team effort.

Ridge: Well, are you using my daughter to send a message here?

Katie: We are setting a tone. We're saying that all contributions will be recognized. Good ideas will be implemented, no matter where they came from. We want your input and your participation.

Brooke: Ridge is participating. He's designing our next collection.

Ridge: Yeah, I haven't been real focused the last while, I admit. (Sighs) There's been a lot going on. It's been quite a challenge. But that's all gonna change. Now with Steffy involved, I'll do everything I can to make this line worthy of her Glamour campaign.

Steffy: If stubborn and headstrong is what you're looking for, Mr. Spencer, then I'm your girl.

Bill: Well, as head of P.R., you have to be equal parts bulldog and pussycat. It's a high-profile position. Now you said you have some trouble being in front of the camera.

Steffy: Well, yeah, like as a model, but if I have something to say, then it's--

Bill: You will run it by Katie and me first, right?

Steffy: Got it.

Bill: Good. You have talent. You have good instincts.

Steffy: And I'll let you make the final call.

Bill: Yeah, for now. But I see that changing pretty soon.

Steffy: That means a lot coming from a man like you. Your word carries a lot of weight in this industry. You know that. A lot of people are afraid of you, and maybe I should be. You've broken my grandfather's heart. You put my father in a tailspin. Maybe I'm just too angry to be afraid.

Bill: You don't seem angry.

Steffy: Well, how can I be? You've given me this wonderful opportunity. Thank you.

Bill: Wow. I never thought I'd live to see that-- a Forrester standing in front of my desk thanking me for something.

Steffy: Well, I won't let you down.

Bill: Good. Now beat it. Get back to work.

Steffy: Yes. Yes, Mr. Spencer. (Laughs)

Bill: Steffy, Bill.

Steffy: Thanks again... Bill. (Laughs) (door opens)

Bill: Hillary, yeah, get me Adam Green up here right away, all right? Thanks.

Andrea: We do extensive background checks on all of our candidates-- physical exams, psychological testing.

Nick: Really?

Andrea: Not every woman is cut out for the demands of surrogacy.

Bridget: No, I can't imagine doing it. Are you kidding me? Carrying a baby for nine months for a total stranger?

Andrea: Well, you won't be strangers for long. Of course, it's up to you what kind of relationship you want to establish with your surrogate.

Bridget: Yeah. Well, I mean, I'd think you'd want to have something in common with them, of course.

Andrea: Hmm.

Bridget: Honey, look, she was a physician's assistant.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Bridget: Oh, she lives in Pomona, and she doesn't have a car. That could be difficult.

Nick: Right.

Andrea: Some of our candidates are willing to relocate for a time, if you have a spare room.

Bridget: Mm.

Nick: Look at this one.

Bridget: Oh, my goodness. She's beautiful. (Laughs) It looks like she had a professional photographer.

Nick: Mm.

Andrea: That's Sandra Sommers.

Bridget: Yeah. Look, she's into, um, well, yoga, kayaking, surfing. She loves outdoors. That's awesome.

Nick: It's not like she's gonna be doing that while she's carrying our child.

Bridget: No, I know, but it's something we could...

Nick: Plus, we have to meet her. We've got to get to know anybody who's in here.

Bridget: Talk to with something in com--look, so if we are interested in hypothetically, um, someone like Sandra Sommers, what--what would be the next step?

Andrea: Would you like me to set up an interview?

Bridget: That fast?

Andrea: That fast. I'll call you after I've spoken with her. You can keep the profiles and see if anyone else interests you.

Nick: That's it?

Andrea: It's a good start. I'm glad to be working with you folks.

Bridget: Oh, Andrea, thank you so much.

Andrea: You're welcome.

Nick: Thank you.

Andrea: You're welcome. Nice to meet you.

Nick: Yeah. Okay.

Bridget: (Squeals) Oh, this is so exciting!

Nick: Yeah. Uh... are we okay with this?

Bridget: Uh, I am.

Nick: Would you remind me that I am, too?

Bridget: Oh, well, of--of course. That would be my pleasure.

(Telephone ringing)

Woman: Please leave a message after the tone.

Andrea: Hi, it's Andrea from the surrogate agency. Great news. I have a lovely couple that is very interested in meeting you. It worked. I thought you were crazy, but you were right. They loved everything about Sandra-- her name, healthy living, yoga. Congratulations, you've got a wonderful couple. This should work out beautifully. Remember, I went out on a limb for you. Don't let me down, Agnes.

Bridget: I'm so excited.

Nick: Are you? Are you excited?

Bridget: Yes.

Nick: Mm. I can't tell what I am.

Bridget: Me, too.

Nick: Well, what if it was a boy, girl--I mean, we have to think of names. We have to do all that parental st--

Bridget: It's gonna be a girl. I think it's gonna be a little--

Nick: Come on. I mean--

Bridget: It really doesn't matter what it is, 'cause it's just gonna be so perfect.

Nick: Okay.

Bridget: I love you. I love you so much.

Nick: I love you.
