Katie: Yeah, um, no, I-I'm sorry, Helen. Um, I-I can't, uh, give you... (Chuckles) an--an exclusive, but I can tell you what I know when I know it, all right? Yeah, I've--I really have to go. I'm kind of in the middle of something pressing. Okay. Thanks. Bye. You are very distracting.
Bill: I did not bring you in here so you could conduct business on your cell phone.
Katie: Oh. Why did you bring me in here?
Bill: For a little more of this.
Bill: Well, maybe a lot more.
Katie: (Giggles) Mm.
(Cell phone rings)
Katie: Oh, um, that's my phone. Oh, darn.
Bill: You are not gonna answer that phone.
Katie: Look, it's-- it's my assistant.
Bill: Let that go to voice mail. Let it go to voice mail.
Katie: It's my assistant. I have to answer it.
Bill: You're killin' me.
Katie: Hi. (Laughs) Um, what? No. No, that's not okay. Oh. Okay. All right. I'll be right there.
Katie: (Sighs) I got to go.
Katie: Because, uh, Eric and Ridge are not coming to my meeting.
Bill: I am definitely gonna have a talk with them.
Katie: No, no, no. I will talk to them. It's my problem, not yours.
Bill: And what about my problem?
Katie: Oh, baby, I'll take care of it when I get home.
Bill: Yeah, well, that's for then. What about now?
Katie: (Laughs) Are you going back to the office?
Bill: I'm gonna check on your sister.
Katie: Oh, right. She's doing another "Catwalk" show today.
Bill: Mm-hmm. Hope everything's going well.
Katie: Well, with Donna as host and Justin as producer, what could go wrong?
Brio: Working with you and your sisters was such a pleasure. You made my job easy. And the outcome speaks for itself. It was one of the finest fashion campaigns I've ever been involved in. I could go on about that for another half-hour.
Donna: Well, that would be fascinating. But unfortunately, we are out of time. So I-I just want to thank you so much for coming, Brio. You have been lovely. More surprises tomorrow, so please join us again on "The Catwalk."
(Theme song plays)
Man: And we're clear.
Justin: Brio, thank you...
Brio: Thank you.
Justin: So much. I appreciate it. Nice job.
Donna: Oh, God, that was so boring.
Justin: You did your best.
Marcus: No, Mom's right. I mean, look. Brio's cool and all, but she's not no Pam Douglas. (Cell phone rings)
Marcus: Excuse me.
Marcus: Oh, I got to call the job.
Justin: Okay. (Ring)
Marcus: I'll be back in a little bit.
Justin: All right.
Marcus: Bye, Mom.
Donna: It was horrible. It was--it-it-it was flat as a pancake. Did you see the audience yawning?
Justin: You were totally charming. That's what our viewers are tuning in to see.
Donna: What, me falling flat on my face?
Justin: You didn't fall flat on your face. Would you give yourself credit? This is only your second show.
Donna: You're sweet.
Justin: I'm objective. Well, sort of. (Chuckles)
Donna: (Chuckles) (Sighs)
Donna: Eric, hi.
Eric: Hey. Uh, Justin, hello.
Justin: How are you?
Eric: What are you doing here?
Donna: Oh, I-I didn't tell you? Um, well, Justin is my executive producer.
Eric: No, no. You, uh, you didn't tell me that.
Donna: Oh, I-I'm sorry. (Laughs) He was just giving me a pep talk.
Donna: But I still think the show was dull, dull, dull.
Justin: Oh, nonsense. You were brilliant.
Eric: Uh, wait. Let me get this straight. So it was your idea to hire Donna for the show?
Justin: Yeah. One of my better decisions.
Eric: Why did you pick Donna? I mean, she has no experience with that sort of thing or, uh, or do I even need to ask?
Taylor: So, um, tell me about the new dynamics happening over here at Forrester.
Thomas: Oh, you mean Forrester Creations, a division of Spencer Publications?
Steffy: Oh, they ought to name it "Logan Creations." Katie's C.E.O. Brooke is president. Donna's vice president. (Chuckles)
Taylor: (Sighs) So you're not telling me that you're being marginalized, I hope.
Steffy: No, but--
Thomas: Mom, it's not our company anymore.
Taylor: No, that's exactly what I'm trying to tell you is that I don't want you to forget that this is your company. This company is your birthright.
Katie: So what's this I hear about Eric and Ridge?
Brooke: They won't be joining us today.
Katie: Why not? They're still fighting me. You know, it's awfully hard to be an intermediary between Bill and the Forresters if they don't even show up and participate.
Katie: What's it gonna take, Brooke? We need Ridge and Eric. They are the cornerstones of this company.
Brooke: I know. Just put yourself in their shoes. How many years has this office been Ericís? I mean, just imagine what it must do to him when he comes here and he sees your name up there on that door and not his. And Ridge is really trying to be comfortable working here in this environment, but it's not easy. I really do think he'll come around. It's just gonna take some time.
Thomas: It's not the same working for Katie.
Taylor: Well, I've always thought, of all the three sisters, she's probably the most reasonable.
Steffy: Oh, well, she's all right, but I wonder how seriously she takes us.
Taylor: Why? Has she made you feel like she doesn't?
Thomas: Well, that's the problem. She just doesn't say anything to us, really.
Taylor: Well, I'm sure it's just because she's busy. Uh, she did just become C.E.O. kind of out of the blue.
Thomas: Almost sounds like you're defending her.
Taylor: No, I'm not. I'm just saying that this is the situation you're dealing with. Katie is the one who's in control, and you can't deny it, much less fight it, so I guess what I'm trying to say is you need to get in there, both of you get in there and make your mark. You can't control who owns the company or--or who's running it. Just get in there and make your contribution.
Steffy: I have a contribution.
Taylor: What is it?
Steffy: An idea for the new line.
Thomas: Oh, that reminds me. We're late for the meeting.
Steffy: Oh, my God.
Taylor: Oh. So--so what meeting is this?
Steffy: It's a brainstorming session for the campaign, but we got to go.
Taylor: Okay. All right. Hurry. Go make that contribution, both of you. (Sighs)
Justin: Why wouldn't I hire Donna? She's perfect in front of the camera.
Donna: Eric, I-I can do this.
Eric: You're exploiting her, Justin.
Justin: Why would you think that?
Eric: Do I have to spell this out for you?
Justin: What exactly is that supposed to mean?
Eric: You know what it means. You're trying to get close to my wife.
Bill: Hello, everybody. How's it going here on "The Catwalk" set? Something going on I should know about? I sense a little tension amongst the three of you. Show go all right?
Justin: Just fine.
Bill: Then what's the problem?
Eric: I don't want her doing the television show. Come on, honey. Let's go. Come on.
Bill: Uh, wait one second. Hold on.
Bill: Shouldn't your wife have some say in this? What's it gonna be, Donna? Do you want to quit the show?
Man: Okay, these have to be up there.
Donna: Eric, please don't make me choose between you and--and something I've always wanted to do.
Eric: Donna, I have no objection to you doing a television show, just not this one with these people.
Bill: "These people" are your people now, Eric. We're on the same team. Used properly, "The Catwalk" can be a tremendous promotional tool for our company.
Eric: Your company, don't you mean?
Justin: Eric, this is a dream come true for Donna. Let's give her that opportunity.
Eric: Look, I think I know my wife better than anyone else here. I think until you planted the seed in her mind, I don't think she ever gave something like this a second thought.
Bill: Looks like it's in your hands, Donna. What do you want to do?
Donna: I-- I've always had this fantasy, Eric, of--of being on TV.
Justin: You need to support her on this, Eric. We both know this is what she wants.
Eric: Donna's needs are my concern, not yours. This conversation is between the two of us. Excuse us, will you, please?
Eric: Donna, I hate this. I-I hate that you're here with these two men. I just--I hate this, and I'm overreacting, and I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's just that this is a very difficult time for me. And--and I'm overreacting.
Donna: I-I-I know. I--look, I know you're going through a lot, Eric. I want to help you in this transition at the company. (Sighs)
Eric: Then let's go away. Just the two of us. What do you say? Come on. You can help me forget about all this-- this bad stuff that's been happening with us and--and help me remember what's good in my life, like you, my beautiful wife.
Donna: (Sighs) I canít. I-I have other responsibilities now, Eric. I'm a vice president over at Forrester. I-I've just been given this amazing opportunity on this show. Justin is right. This is a dream come true for me. It's a dream come true. Help me live it out.
Eric: We'll talk about this more, okay, at home.
Rick: I mean, think about it. Ridge is gonna love this. It'll give him a chance to do something edgy with his designs, strike at the heart of Jackie M.'s Indulge campaign.
Thorne: It's the best idea we've come up with so far.
Katie: (Sighs) I do like it, uh, but may not right now. Maybe in the future. We're at a critical transition. I just really think that we need to stick to the classic Forrester tradition.
Thorne: You do have a point.
Katie: All right, come on. We are smart, creative people. We just need a spark of an idea that we can grab onto.
Steffy: Sorry we're late. (Sighs)
Brooke: Oh, good. Glad you're here. We could use your help.
Steffy: So where do things stand?
Thorne: Well, we're still brainstorming.
Steffy: Any interesting ideas or--
Brooke: Well, Rick had one. It was pretty good, but it was a bit premature.
Rick: (Chuckles) Thanks. What about you? Anything?
Steffy: Yeah, actually, I-I think I have an idea.
Katie: Well, let's hear it.
Katie: Yeah, of course.
Steffy: Oh, okay. Well, um, you know how the major fashion houses are in Paris, right? Well, Paris, Milan, New York. We're in Los Angeles, so why don't we use that to our advantage?
Katie: Go on.
Steffy: Okay, well, why don't we build our campaign around the glamour of Hollywood? And the key focus would be anyone can be a star if you're wearing Forrester Creations.
Katie: So are you suggesting that we get actors and actresses to be our models?
Steffy: No, we already have our own celebrities.
Steffy: Who else? The Logan sisters. You guys sold the Royalty line. The public ate it up.
Steffy: But this time, you'll be wearing classic, old Hollywood outfits-- the glamour of Audrey Hepburn and--and Ava Gardner. Think about it-- the fabulous dresses, the--the--the tops, the skirts. Think of what my dad and my grandfather could do with this. So what do you think?
Thorne: I think the Hollywood theme sounds great.
Rick: Yeah, I bet Dad's gonna love it.
Katie: What do you think, Brooke?
Brooke: Well, don't get me wrong. I'm crazy about it. But don't you think we should use different models?
Steffy: Nonsense. You'd be perfect. You three are the brand.
Brooke: What do you think, Katie?
Katie: I think it's a great idea. I think it's brilliant.
Thorne: Nice goin', Steffy.
Steffy: Thank you.
Rick: Excellent. A really nice job.
Thorne: So, uh, we going to run with it?
Katie: Not quite yet. It's just formality. I am C.E.O., but I want to run things by Bill first.
Katie: I will talk to him today, and we will reconvene. I'll send out an e-mail. Thank you all so much for coming. That will be all.
Steffy: (Clears throat)
Katie: Steffy, could you stay for a moment?
Brooke: I am so proud of you.
Steffy: Thank you. (Chuckles)
Katie: It was a wonderful contribution. Thank you so much.
Steffy: No, thank--thank you.
Katie: I will mention your name to Bill, and I really think you should be the point person on this.
Steffy: Uh, yeah.
Brooke: Steffy, is something the matter?
Katie: Listen, I know how loyal you are to your dad and to your grandfather. And I know they're having trouble with this transition, but if your ideas make this a better company, if you make us stronger, then you're honoring them. And you're giving them a wonderful concept to work with.
Steffy: I hope so. I really hope so.
Brooke: You've done something else, too. You've brought the Forresters and the Logans together to achieve great things. And your idea-- that will be a great thing.
Katie: You're helping to unite us. Thank you.
Marcus: Eric? Hey, is, uh, is everything okay?
Eric: No, everything is not okay. Look, I know that Justin is your biological father, but, uh, I don't like how he engineered this whole TV show thing with your mother. He still has an agenda with Donna. And I don't think he can be trusted around her.
Justin: So how did it go with Eric?
Donna: He really wants me to quit. (Sighs)
Justin: I hope you told him you refuse.
Donna: Look, I don't-- I don't want to upset him. I--he just lost his company. He's--he's in a bad place.
Justin: He didn't lose his company. He sold his company at a very good price with a work guarantee for him and his entire family for the rest of their lives. And now this new opportunity comes to you. (Laughs) Hope you don't let it pass you by because your husband has issues.
Donna: Look, I-I-- I want to be loyal to him, okay? He has given me so much.
Justin: If he loves you, he'll give you this, too, despite what Eric was saying. I see it every minute you step on this set. You're good at this. How's it feel to be doing something that you're good at?
Donna: (Laughs) It's good.
Justin: A whole new door has opened up for you, Donna.
Justin: Take my hand and walk through it. (Sighs) God, you are so beautiful.
Donna: Uh... (Sighs)
Justin: I know you're committed to your husband. He's a good man. He's been good to you. And you are as loyal as they come, which is the reason you didn't tell me you were pregnant with Marcus. You didn't want to ruin my life while I went off to college, but you know that if you would have told me we were having a child, I would have been there for you, Donna. I loved you, and you loved me.
Donna: Stop it. You--we can't--
Donna: We can't talk like this, Justin.
Justin: Why? Why can't we talk like this? Why? Because it's the truth? We have an amazing son that both of us love. It would be so easy for us just to pick right up where we left off.
Donna: No. Donít.
Justin: You know, I'm having a-a difficult time. I'm trying to accept your marriage. Eric is rich, and he loves you. He's really given you a good life. But it isn't enough. And you know it isnít. If it weren't for fate and circumstances, we would still be together. Tell me that you don't believe that.
Justin: You can't, because you feel exactly the same way that I do. You feel the fire.
Justin: You feel the passion. Look, Donna, you have needs, and they are not being met. And, well, I may not be able to give you what Eric has, but one thing's for sure. I can definitely fulfill your needs.
Justin: Come back to me.
Justin: Let me quench that desire that's inside of you. Look, baby, I love you. I... want... you. Would you come back to me?
