Katie: Thank you for letting me sleep in.

Bill: I thought you could use the extra hour.

Katie: (Sighs) Yeah. I've got a big day ahead of me.

Bill: You're up to the task.

Katie: It helps that you think so.

Bill: Well, don't you?

Katie: Yeah. I just feel like I'm walking into enemy territory.

Bill: Oh, listen. I feel that way just about every day.

Katie: Yeah, well, at least people respect you in your own building.

Bill: That's because it is my building, and soon the Forrester building will be as well. And you'll be running Forrester Creations, because I know what nobody else seems to realize-- you're qualified. You're the perfect intermediary between the Forresters and me. That's why I put you in the C.E.O. spot.

Katie: I hope you're right. I hope I'm not getting in over my head.

Bill: I am always right when it comes to decisions like this. But you have to believe it.

Katie: (Sighs)

Katie: You know something?

Bill: Huh?

Katie: I believe I can do just about anything when I'm in your arms.

Bill: That's my girl.

Katie: (Chuckles)

Eric: (Sighs) Well, I spoke to the realtor.

Brooke: The beach house is on the market?

Eric: As of this morning, yes, and so is the cabin in Big Bear.

Ridge: How much can we get for them?

Eric: Not enough to make the first payment, but, uh, a large chunk of it.

Brooke: I love that cabin.

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, so do I. But we'll get another one when we get out of this mess, and we will get out of this mess.

Ridge: $25 million per quarter for the next year. That's a hell of a chunk to come up with.

Eric: We'll raise it. I'm not sure how, but we will.

Ridge: We're certainly motivated.

Donna: Well, anything to keep that Bill Spencer from acquiring this company.

Eric: Whatever we have to do, we'll do it. Forrester Creations belongs to us, to this family. We started it. We built it, and we're gonna pass it on to our children. No one--

no one is gonna keep that from happening.

Jackie: Morning.

Whip: Hi.

Jackie: Did you finish that strategy report?

Whip: Oh, yeah. Uh, right here.

Jackie: Good. Let's take a look, shall we?

Whip: Right now?

Jackie: We are a week behind on the cruise line, Whip. We've got to move fast.

Whip: Okay. Can we talk first?

Jackie: What about?

Whip: Like, uh, where's your husband?

Jackie: (Clears throat) He, um, he left early this morning. He--he went out for coffee. Maybe he'll bring me one.

Whip: It looks like you need a lot more than coffee from him, Jackie.

Jackie: (Sighs) What can I say? You've done it again. Absolutely brilliant, Whip.

Whip: Nah, it's Bridget’s cruise wear. It practically sells itself.

Jackie: Oh, please. Nothing sells itself. You know that.

Whip: Well, everything except for you, right?

Jackie: (Chuckles)

Whip: (Chuckles)

Jackie: Oh, my, the Indulge campaign. Wasn't that fabulous? (Chuckles)

Whip: That was you at your best.

Jackie: And Owen in that fur with the studded dog collar--

Whip: (Chuckles)

Jackie: It was... (Sighs) those were the days he'd do almost anything for me.

Whip: And now?

Jackie: He wants things to be the way they were.

Whip: But they're not.

Jackie: We're working on it. Oh, I just wish--

Whip: What?

Jackie: (Sighs) I wish that he didn't have Steffy Forrester whispering in his ear.

Whip: Steffy? Wha-- what's she whispering?

Jackie: Oh, this and that, but mostly that I'm not good enough for Owen.

Owen: Hey, you. You mind if I join you?

Steffy: Oh, hey. Um, yeah, sure.

Owen: It's okay? (Chuckles) I see you got your ride there.

Steffy: Yeah. When was the last time you rode a skateboard?

Owen: Mnh-mnh. I do my riding on the waves.

Steffy: Oh, right. So you're telling me you don't know how to skateboard? Huh?

Owen: No, I know how to skateboard. Just I haven't ridden one in a long time, that's all.

Steffy: Oh. Uh-huh. Right. Yeah. Right. Okay. Okay. You know, I could, like, teach you. It would take me, like, I don't know, 15 minutes?

Owen: 15 minutes? Okay, fine. You name the place. I'll be there.

Steffy: Fine. Fine.

Owen: Fine.

Steffy: Fine. Okay, let's see. Um, how about we do-- actually, you know, on second thought, maybe we shouldn’t.

Owen: Okay. Why not?

Steffy: I don't know. Just a-a bad idea.

Owen: Okay, wait a minute, Steffy, are you-- look, are you avoiding me right now or something?

Bill: It's all coming together, Justin, exactly as I planned. Yeah, Katie’s at Forrester right now. No, they'll accept her as C.E.O. I have complete faith in her. And she has complete faith in me.

Brooke: If I leverage my assets, that should help, shouldn't it?

Eric: I don't want you going into debt over this whole thing, Brooke.

Brooke: Eric, we're all in this together.

Ridge: Look, Dad's right. There has to be some other way to raise capital here.

Katie: Morning, everyone.

Brooke: Katie.

Katie: (Sighs) Have I missed anything?

Eric: We're discussing how to save this company.

Ridge: Something you're obviously not interested in.

Katie: That's not true, Ridge. I realize this is a difficult situation, but there is a solution.

Ridge: What, hand the company over to your boyfriend?

Katie: Bill wants to infuse some much-needed capital into Forrester Creations. He's offered stock in Spencer Publications, a fair market price for the company. We all keep our jobs. We run Forrester exactly the way we always have. We're not handing the company over to anyone, Ridge.

Eric: What Spencer did was underhanded.

Katie: He's saving us from bankruptcy.

Donna: Honey, you're in love with the man. You cannot be objective. Now Bill is a very clever guy, and he could fool any one of us here.

Katie: So it's just not possible that he cares about me or believes in me or loves me. Is that what you're saying?

Donna: Now look, I-I don't want to hurt you, Katie, but you cannot take anything this man says at face value.

Katie: I'm not. I'm looking at this logically, as you all should. I want what's best for Forrester Creations.

Eric: What's best for Forrester is to stay in the hands of this family.

Katie: I agree, but we can't afford it anymore. We don't have the money.

Ridge: Katie, you're either naive or brainwashed. Bill hates us. We feel the same about him. He'll get rid of all of us within a year, you included.

Katie: That's not true, Ridge. He respects all of us, especially you. You'll see.

Ridge: No, I won't see that, because I'm not gonna be around if he buys this damn company. Now, Katie, come on. I don't think you should actually even be working here because frankly, my dear, you're sleeping with the enemy now.

Whip: Steffy actually said that you're not good enough for Owen?

Jackie: (Sighs) She's got a crush on him...

Whip: (Chuckles)

Jackie: All right? Yes, I overheard them talking, and even if she didn't intend to, she was undermining my marriage, so I confronted her, and I said she had to stay away from him. She said she's not a home wrecker, but she's cute, isn't she?

Whip: (Sighs)

Jackie: And she's sweet. (Sighs) And she is definitely too involved.

Whip: Okay, look. If Owen is as committed to you as you think he is, then nothing Steffy can say or do is gonna change that. All right, I'm gonna say something. You're not gonna like it. Maybe-- maybe he's better off with a girl like Steffy, because he's a boy. Jackie, he is out of your league.

Jackie: I love him, and he loves me.

Whip: Yeah, but is love enough?

Jackie: (Sighs)

Steffy: Hey, if I wanted to avoid you, I wouldn't be coming here.

Owen: Well, okay then. So what's the big deal about showing me a couple tricks on the skateboard?

Steffy: Uh... whatever. So, um... (Chuckles) how are things at Jackie M.?

Owen: Things are great.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Owen: Oh, you got to see what we're working on. Why don't you come by, and I'll show you what we're doing?

Steffy: Owen, you're a competitor. I am not stepping foot in your building.

Owen: Come on. I'm inviting you. It's really not that big of a deal.

Steffy: Well, it would be to some people.

Owen: Who?

Steffy: Mm, never mind.

Owen: Wait a minute. Is this about you and Jackie? Oh, look at you. It is. It is about you two.

Steffy: It's not. She's crazy about you. She just wants me to keep my distance, and she doesn't want me involved in your marriage.

(Lock clicks)

Bill: (Sighs)

Bill: Hello, Father.

Katie: You're firing me?

Brooke: Katie, that's not what we want.

Katie: Sounds like that's what Ridge wants.

Brooke: At least look at it from our perspective. Ridge and Eric have devoted their lives to building this company, and now there's a hostile takeover. How do you think we would react?

Katie: Listen, I understand how you feel, but this company is going to fail unless someone steps in.

Eric: Well, we're not there yet. And if we ever get to that point, it's not gonna be Bill Spencer that steps in. I can promise you that.

Katie: All right. Well, then who will you sell it to, Eric, some stranger? At least with me in charge, it stays in the family.

Donna: Honey, you can defend him all you want, but.. (Scoffs) we're never gonna believe in Bill Spencer.

Brooke: He obviously doesn't care about you if he's putting you in this position. He knows how much we love each other as sisters, and now look what it's doing to us.

Katie: It doesn't have to be like that, Brooke.

Donna: What, are you asking us to trust Bill Spencer? I--

Katie: I'm asking you to trust me. Trust my judgment even when it comes to Bill, just as I've always trusted you two.

Ridge: This is different, Katie. There's too much at stake.

Brooke: At least go back to Bill and explain how we feel.

Katie: He knows how you feel.

Eric: Does he know this is tearing you and your sisters apart?

Donna: Yeah, is that the kind of man you want to be with, somebody who doesn't care about our family?

Brooke: Please, Katie? Don't let him do this to us. Go back to him. Go to him and make him listen.

Owen: Wow. I can't believe that Jackie told you to keep your distance from me. I mean, yeah, we've had some difficult times, but my God, I'm crazy about her. She's filled a huge void in my life.

Steffy: Well, that's how it should be in a marriage, right?

Owen: That's all I want. That's all I've ever wanted was to be able to be there for her and be able to give her everything that she needs.

Steffy: (Sighs) Jackie's really lucky. Really, I mean, how many husbands are that devoted?

Owen: No, I'm the lucky one. Come on, I'm the luckiest guy in the world to be able to share a life with a woman like Jackie. It's amazing.

Steffy: Look, um, when we talked yesterday, some of the things I said were uncool, and, um, I just want to say I'm sorry.

Owen: What are you talking about? You were looking out for me, all right? That's what friends do. But listen, you don't-- you don't have to do that. Yeah, Jackie and I, we're-- we're going through some things right now, but I love her. And I'm devoted to her, and nothing is ever going to change that.

(Door opens)

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: Hey. Pretty rough?

Katie: (Chuckles)

Bill: You didn't think it'd be a walk in the park, did you? Tell me what happened.

Katie: (Sighs) Well, let's see. Where should I begin? Ridge wants to fire me.

Bill: Mm-hmm.

Katie: Um, they all think that you're using me and that I'm just your puppet. And Brooke and Donna think that if you truly cared about me, you wouldn't put me in this position.

Bill: Well, pretty self-serving, don't you think?

Katie: Yeah, I guess so.

Bill: You guess so? It is. Otherwise they would see this for the opportunity I'm giving them, but they refuse. They want to pressure you into seeing it from their point of view. Don't buckle under.

Katie: I won’t.

Bill: That's my girl.

Katie: (Chuckles) (Sighs) What's that?

Ridge: How are they?

Eric: Some of the worst sales figures we've ever had.

Ridge: They dropped that much?

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: What are we gonna do?

Eric: Well, we didn't expect this, but we're not gonna panic.

Ridge: Look, let's stick with the plan. We'll sell the cabin, sell the beach house.

Donna: Yeah, but we could sell everything that we own and still end up losing this company.

Brooke: What about the boutiques. Maybe we could get rid of the ones that aren't performing.

Ridge: That would mean buying out the leases. That would be expensive. We don't have the cash.

Eric: It's the damn loan! We could have paid it back. We could have paid it back in ten years. But Bill Spencer manipulates the banks into changing the terms to one year.

Ridge: God, I don't know how we're gonna do this.

Brooke: (Sighs) We have to combine our financial statements, update our assets, our combined net worth.

Donna: Still, is it going to be enough?

Ridge: We'd be throwing good money after bad. We'd lose everything.

Brooke: Well, what are we suggesting here? (Scoffs) We just throw in the towel?

Eric: Well, w-we have to come up with some kind of a solution here, Brooke.

Brooke: Sure, but there's one solution I'm not going to consider. And that is allowing Bill Spencer to acquire this company. That's where all this doomsday talk is headed, and I'm not gonna hear it. Come on, Eric. All we need to do is combine our resources. We have stocks, bonds, real estate. Yes, we may be throwing it away, but that's what you did to build this company. Every breakthrough we ever had involved a risk, and what did we do? We fought. And we're gonna fight through this. And I'll be damned if we let Bill Spencer take over this company and destroy our sister in the process. No. No, we continue to fight against Bill Spencer until we win. (Sighs) Is that understood?

Katie: Did your dad make this?

Bill: Yeah.

Katie: I thought you didn't have much of a relationship with him.

Bill: I didn’t.

Katie: What's on it?

Bill: Some of his last words before he croaked.

Katie: Wow. Heavy.

Bill: Yeah. Listen, I want to tell you how proud I am of you, all right? Today you went through hell, and you toughed it out like I knew you would. And don't worry about your family. They don't, uh, like you so much right now...

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: And they're not really speaking to you. But because of you, they will have a livelihood. And they will have some place to go to work and to succeed. Down the road, trust me, they're gonna thank you. You do trust me, don't you?

Katie: Yeah, I do. I do so much.
