Donna: I don't understand why this loan payment keeps rising.
Brooke: We never paid on the principle.
Eric: Interest rates weren't then what they are now.
Ridge: Look, it doesn't matter why we got here or how we got here. We have to pay off a $100 million loan...
Ridge: Or we're gonna find ourselves workin' for Bill Spencer under your little sister's supervision, for God sakes. So... (sighs) how do we come up with the first quarter payment?
Eric: We're gonna have to sell the beach house.
Ridge: That's mother's now.
Eric: Was. No, she-- I got her to trade it back to me. I wasn't gonna say anything until the title transfer had been recorded, and I was gonna, uh, I was gonna try to persuade Stephen to bring Beth back to the states, uh, by offering that house to them to live in.
Brooke: That is so sweet of you.
Brooke: I know it's hard to let go... (sighs) of so many memories, especially for you, Ridge.
Ridge: Well, we can't really afford to be sentimental now, can we?
Brooke: I still can't believe that this has happened-- how Katieís gotten all mixed up in this whole thing with Bill Spencer.
Donna: And nothing we say to her gets through. She has locked us all out. Somehow she doesn't see how wrong this is.
Bill: You're gonna wear a hole in the carpet. Why do you let them upset you like this? You didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything wrong. It's business.
Katie: Not to my sisters. Not to Eric or Ridge.
Bill: Look, nobody's gonna die. Nobody's gonna starve. They're just not happy. That's all.
Katie: They're my family. They trusted me.
Bill: Did you betray their trust?
Katie: No. I don't know.
Bill: Well, if you did, I missed it. Did you set them up for me? Did you spy on them? Did you lie to them?
Bill: Or do you feel you betrayed their trust by falling in love with me?
Taylor: No, look, look, look, look. I've never seen waterfalls in an airport. Isn't that crazy?
Steffy: Uh, Mom, I'm gonna head to bed. Grandma, shouldn't you be getting some rest, too?
Taylor: Oh, yeah, yeah. I forgot how late it was.
Stephanie: No, no, I'm--I'm fine.
Steffy: You promised you'd be gettin' more rest.
Taylor: You know, this bossiness did not come from my side of the family.
Stephanie: (Chuckles) I know that. Okay, "Nurse Ratched," I'll just tidy up the tea things.
Taylor: No, I've got it. I've got it.
Steffy: No, no, I'll get it. I'll get it.
Stephanie: I'm not some kind of an invalid.
Stephanie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I--
Taylor: No. Are you okay?
Stephanie: Yeah, I just had a kind of clumsy day.
Taylor: No, it's like your arm just literally--
Stephanie: No, no, I'm fine.
Steffy: No, she's not fine.
Steffy: I'm sorry, Grandma. I love you, but she has to know.
Ridge: Do we fire her?
Brooke: I don't know. (Sighs) I don't feel like it's our decision to make.
Donna: Why don't we just wait until Eric comes back?
Ridge: He may not be coming back. If he's gonna show that beach house, he'll be tied up with the real estate agent. So what do we do when Katie shows up for work in the morning?
Donna: Well, I guess we have to be careful of what we say around her.
Brooke: What do you think we should do?
Ridge: Maybe nothing. She's still talking with all of us. Better to have a way to keep tabs on Spencer than not.
Brooke: Well, she's going to keep his secret. She's very loyal.
Donna: I don't know about that. Didn't take her long to turn her back on Eric, now did it? Not to mention us.
Brooke: Katie thinks that Donna and I get more attention and more breaks.
Donna: Except Ridge didn't hand you anything, Brooke. You worked like a dog here for years. Now I love Katie, but she is taking advantage of the situation.
Brooke: Well, I-I guess what's wrong with shortcuts, right? I-I took a shortcut, and you certainly did. Maybe Bill is Katieís shortcut.
Donna: To running Ericís company? No. How does she not see that that's wrong? Bill is-- he's dangling a carrot in front of her to do his dirty work. He doesn't care about her.
Katie: (Sighs) It's gonna be hard to walk in there tomorrow.
Bill: I have every confidence in you, Katie. Once the company starts making money again under you and some of that lost cachet comes back, everything will be forgotten. In fact, I'm sure they'll want to take credit for appointing you C.E.O.
Katie: What if that doesn't happen? What if they pull a rabbit out of a hat and pay off their debt and you don't get Forrester?
Bill: Ain't gonna happen.
Katie: Not likely, but what if it does? Do you go back to New York since Forrester was the only thing that brought you here?
Bill: And leave you holding the bag? Letting your sisters think they were right? That you were a fool to get involved with me? Do you think I would do that?
Katie: I don't know. Would you?
Steffy: Grandma, nothing's gonna happen if mom knows.
Taylor: Knows what?
Stephanie: Uh, look, you two talk about whatever you want to talk about.
Steffy: Hiding it just-- is just making it harder.
Stephanie: I'm going over to Pamís house, where at least I'll get some respect, Miss.
Steffy: Grandma had a stroke.
Taylor: (Gasps) Oh, my God.
Steffy: There was no warning sign, and she stayed at the hospital one night, but she wouldn't stay any longer.
Taylor: Stephanie, tell me the truth. Are you okay?
Stephanie: I'm fine.
Taylor: Here, grasp my hands. Just grasp. Both hands. Come on. Okay, squeeze. Squeeze harder.
Taylor: Okay, did, uh, did they set up some physical therapy when you were at the hospital?
Steffy: No, no, they didnít.
Taylor: Stephanie, this is not you. You're not foolish. This is not a small, little thing.
Stephanie: I have been through this before.
Taylor: I know.
Stephanie: And I believe I know my body better than any doctor, including you.
Taylor: Yes. And I know it's very frightening. It is. But you can recover the strength back on your right side if you're willing to work for it, okay? It's not a big deal. I-I just don't under-- (sighs) thank you, sweetheart.
Steffy: I'm sorry. I'm sorry if I did the wrong thing.
Taylor: No, you didn't do anything wrong. I'm just glad you were here for your grandmother when she needed you. Let me just talk to her for a little bit.
Taylor: (Sighs) Stephanie, you're a survivor. You didn't die. And you're not going to... unless you insist.
Taylor: Okay, so first, we have to get you physical therapy.
Stephanie: I'm doing that all on my own.
Taylor: Well, I'll finish helping you do the arrangements. So who all knows?
Stephanie: Pam. And there's no reason to worry anyone else.
Taylor: Well, if-- if there isn't any reason to--to worry, then why keep it secret?
Stephanie: Taylor, the problem is people don't understand. They hear the word "stroke," and they think you're a goner.
Taylor: What people? I think you mean you. It's very normal to be afraid.
Stephanie: Well, thank you. Yeah, the only thing I'm afraid about is that you'll make too much of this. It's all under control.
Taylor: Oh, okay. I didn't know you were qualified to make a medical judgment. Did you sit down with a doctor, and did you discuss ways that you can prevent a-another reoccurrence? Like lowering your blood pressure, your blood sugar, your cholesterol?
Stephanie: Yes, yes, but that's just common sense.
Taylor: Okay, but you probably need medication.
Stephanie: I'm taking medication. We can't know for sure that it couldn't happen again, though.
Taylor: That's exactly why I'm trying to tell you that other people around you need to know so they know what to look for-- trouble walking, seeing, speaking or numbness on one side. With early treatment, they can--they can help it turn around and stop another recurrence. You don't want this to happen again. Uh, you know this.
Stephanie: You know what I know? I'd rather be hit by a train than be pitied.
Brooke: (Sighs) I don't think it's especially helpful to criticize Bill.
Ridge: What, we should run up the white flag and hand him the keys?
Brooke: His relationship with Katie, I meant.
Donna: You can't seriously say you approve. You honestly think he loves her?
Brooke: How would I know? How would you know?
Ridge: Oh, Logan, you always try to see the best in everyone. But not Bill Spencer, please. Not after today.
Katie: So what if things don't work out the way you want them to? What if you don't get Forrester? What then? Do you leave? Because I've gone way out on a limb for you.
Bill: Well, I think I've invested a whole lot more in you than you have in me-- giving you the C.E.O. spot, promising you Forrester to run. You don't think that's big?
Katie: It's come at a high cost-- my credibility, the respect of just about everyone I care about. My sisters are pretty upset with me right now.
Bill: And that's what counts most with you, isn't it? It's happening already. You're changing. You're turning. You're looking at me through their eyes. You're thinking, when he gets what he wants, or even if he doesn't, he's going to dump me.
Katie: Will you?
Bill: That's your sisters' question, not yours. We've talked about this. But you're listening to them, and it's creating doubt and insecurity.
Katie: Can you blame them?
Bill: I really don't care what your sisters think of me, Katie. I only care about one Logan sister. I only trust one Logan sister. But can you trust me? That's what they've got you wondering.
Katie: Can I?
Bill: Katie, my beautiful Katie, what I believe is that we can set the world on fire together. I want you to see me as a man who means what he says, as a man who likes his life a whole lot better with you in it. I don't want to disappoint you. And I don't want you to disappoint me.
Taylor: Stephanie, on behalf of everyone who knows you and loves you, don't underestimate us. We do love you, and we want to keep you around. (Sighs) You know, I-- we might be a little upset that you're going through something threatening and serious, but we'll be there for you. We want to be there for you if you're going through something when-- when you're recovering. We're okay. I mean, we will be scared, but we can deal with it, because you taught us to be fearless. You modeled that for us.
Stephanie: Well, I'm not. I'm not.
Taylor: What can I do to help you through this?
Stephanie: Don't be a doctor. Just be my friend.
Taylor: I can do that.
Taylor: You helped me through every crisis I've gone through in my life. (Sighs) I think we make a pretty good team going through the worst life has to throw at us. (Chuckles) You're not going to be alone and not gonna end up helpless. I promise.
Ridge: What is Katie thinking? She has to know she's not competent for the job of C.E.O. Why doesn't she realize she'd be in over her head?
Donna: Well, that's not what Bill is telling her.
Ridge: Which proves the point. She's just gonna be his puppet. Why can't she see that he's just using her?
Brooke: The Katie I knew was happy and content with her job in P.R.
Donna: Yes, but I don't think Katie is the same girl that we once knew. Bill Spencer is changing her right before our eyes.
Katie: Ridge and Eric and my sisters believe that if I become C.E.O., I'll just be your puppet, that that's why you chose me-- because of my inexperience.
Bill: So I can manipulate you and control you. They don't know you very well, do they? That's not who you are. They should realize that.
Katie: You know, you're right, in a way. They don't know me. They don't respect me. All they can say is, "He's using you. He's using you." They're so uptight about letting me have a chance at this.
Bill: And why do you suppose that is?
Katie: I don't know. A-all my life, all they've ever wanted to do is protect me.
Bill: Well, the Katie Logan I know doesn't need any protecting.
Katie: See, that's the point. The Katie Logan they know does. They think you're taking advantage.
Bill: Do you think in your heart of hearts that I'm this black knight who is sweeping in on his cloud to tear your family apart?
Katie: I don't want to think that.
Bill: Then you shouldnít.
Katie: You might not like the way I run the company. I will try to cut costs, make the company more efficient, but I will not cut needed benefits, and I will not fire hard-working employees just to meet your bottom line.
Bill: Even if it costs you your job?
Katie: I didn't ask to be C.E.O. You pushed me.
Bill: Because I believe in you.
Katie: I want to do this, Bill. I know what kind of opportunity this is. And I think that I can make you and my sisters proud. But if I do this, I will run this company on my terms. And I will show you that real success is not just measured by crunching numbers or by being the richest or the most powerful. Real success also comes from making a harmonious work environment where people want to come to work and want to do their best and want to give 110, 150% because it's their company and they believe in the products that they're creating. People have to believe in their executives, and they have to know that their executives believe in them, and that's the kind of company I want to run, and I know that that might be a foreign concept to you. So if you can't live with it, you need to tell me right now, because this will never work. If I do this, I will be loyal to you, but I will also be loyal to my sisters and to Forrester and most importantly, to myself. So do I still have a job?
Bill: Nobody on the planet would talk to me like that. No one would dare.
Katie: I'm not afraid of you, "Dollar Bill."
Bill: No, you're not. I can't control you. I can't intimidate you. I'm honored to have you in my life. You're the best thing that ever happened to me. You're the bright spot in the future-- my future. Our future. This is gonna be one hell of a ride, Katie Logan. "Madame C.E.O."
