Katie: Don't sign that paper, Bill.

Bill: Katie, Eric defaulted on his loan. The bank is well within its right to foreclose and sell Forrester Creations to me.

Katie: But is it fair?

Bill: Katie, Forrester is tapped out, all right? I can save them the humiliation of bankruptcy. With their talent, my money and your leadership, Forrester can be a powerhouse again. I mean, isn't that what everybody wants?

Ridge: I want you right now.

Brooke: Mm. Aren't we supposed to be... working?

Ridge: I can't create if I'm not inspired.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: Oh, no.

Ridge: Mm, blindfold, huh?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: I like it.

Brooke: Silk from Thailand. Thorne needs you to sign off on it.

Ridge: You know, I remember a time when fabric was kind of a turn-on for you.

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: All those hours in the lab creating the Belief Formula, you know, something the world had never seen before.

Brooke: (Giggles)

Ridge: (Sighs) We can recapture that energy, Logan, you and me, together-- recommitted, reenergized. Make this company more exciting than it's ever been. What do you say?

Brooke: Mm. As long as we can keep Bill Spencer away.

Brooke: (Giggles) I like it.

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: Mm.

Justin: Uh-huh.

(Elevator bell dings)

Jarrett: I need to speak with Mr. Spencer right away.

Hillary: He's in a meeting.

Jarrett: With whom? Eric Forresterís banker?

Justin: How did you know about that?

Jarrett: (Scoffs) Then it was him. Oh, no. He's going after Forrester again? Can't we all just get along?

Thorne: Welcome to the fold, Marcus.

Marcus: Thanks, Thorne.

Brooke: It's official?

Eric: We signed the adoption papers this morning.

Marcus: Well, I still have to change my name and all that, but...

Ridge: Oh, you're already a Forrester where it counts.

Rick: It's us against the world right now, Marcus. The Forresters can use all the help we can get.

Eric: Listen, when we work as a team, there's nothing we cannot do. That's one of the things that makes the Forrester family really strong is family unity. And we're coming back now, stronger than ever-- the company and the family. Yeah.

Bill: Katie, the glory days of Forrester Creations are over. Eric's lost his mojo.

Katie: Ridge and Brooke will run the business.

Bill: They're not capable. And besides that, Eric isn't going to give up the reins. They'll have to be taken from him.

Katie: Not by you.

Bill: Then who? You want some other conglomerate to come in? You know what they're gonna do? They're going to slap the Forrester label on everything from pajamas to lampshades. I don't want to do that. I don't want to tarnish the Forrester legacy, the Forrester name. I want to use it to build the company back up. I want to achieve the kind of success that Eric and his children have only dreamed about.

Katie: But Spencer Publications will reap the rewards.

Bill: Forrester will benefit as well, and you know that, or you wouldn't have taken my offer to Ridge and Brooke.

Katie: They weren't interested.

Bill: They're not smart enough to be interested. And the same people who laughed at you, laughed at the thought of you being C.E.O.

Katie: I'm not C.E.O., and I'm not going to be, because this isn't going to happen.

Bill: It is. Forrester Creations is going down. The question is, do you want to help me pull it out of its spiral? I think the problem is that you think you're going to be perceived as a traitor. And the reality is that you can be the hero in this story.

Katie: I don't think my sisters are gonna see it that way.

Bill: (Sighs) All right. If you don't want to be C.E.O., I will find somebody who will. But I can't promise you they'll be as sympathetic to your family as you would be.

Katie: That's cold.

Bill: That's business.

Katie: What if I made it personal? What if I said do this, and I can't see you anymore? If you take over Forrester, it's over.

Rick: As you'll see from these charts, international sales are up across the board, so Ridge, Dad, I think it's time you both take a trip over to International and thank them in person.

Eric: Sure.

Ridge: Good idea, Rick. Let's try and schedule something real soon.

Eric: What's next on the agenda?

Thorne: Katie. She has some new ideas for the, uh, Royalty campaign.

Donna: Oh, um, do you want me to buzz her office, or--

Ridge: Well, hopefully she's over at Spencer trying to talk some sense into that boyfriend of hers.

Brooke: Bill Spencer is showing some interest in acquiring Forrester again.

Ridge: We've wasted enough time playing games with that guy. Let's not get distracted here.

(Knocking on door)

Eric: Yeah. Come in.

Man: Excuse me. The receptionist isn't out there. You requested a delivery receipt.

Thorne: Yes. Thank you.

Ridge: Our loan payment made it to the bank. We are in business. All right. Let's get back to it.

Eric: All right.

Rick: Here, Pop, here's the new P.R. campaign. I want you to take a look at it here.

Justin: You want to keep your job, you might want to rethink your attitude.

Jarrett: Taking over Forrester is a bad idea, Justin. No one's ever succeeded at Forrester except the Forresters.

Justin: Are you saying he can't do it?

Jarrett: (Sighs) Why would he want to? Hmm? I-I-I mean, he needs a pet project? One that could potentially ruin his relationship with Katie Logan? She obviously means a lot to him. I mean a-a big jungle cat like Bill Spencer doesn't change his stripes over any old kitten.

Hillary: I mean, he has been different. He never used to ask about my personal life. Now he lets me off early to go to my daughter's soccer games.

Justin: Katie's had some impact on him. But Bill is still a shrewd business man. Once he makes up his mind, he makes it happen. Bill doesn't back down for anyone.

Bill: If this is a deal breaker, you need to tell me straight up. Just make sure you're willing to accept the consequences, Katie. We have a good thing here. I would hate to lose it.

Katie: But buying Forrester is more important.

Bill: It's our future.

Katie: What if I don't want it?

Bill: That's your decision.

Katie: No, you can't do that. You can't put this all on me and pretend that you're not some heartless, power-hungry ogre, and I just don't understand the value of the gift you're offering me.

Bill: No, I am a power-hungry ogre.

Bill: You thought you changed me.

Katie: Not really.

Bill: Well, you have. And if you could look past your misguided loyalty to the Forresters and your concern for your sisters, you would see that. I don't want to destroy Forrester Creations. I want to build it back up. I want to reinvigorate it. The two of us working side by side. Your passion, my power-- we could do incredible things together, Katie. We could make Forrester-- we could make Forrester hot again. Are you with me?

Rick: So I feel a big, long, sappy speech coming on.

Brooke: (Laughs) I know you don't want me to make a big deal out of this, but it is a big deal to me. Because after all this time, I've said all these prayers, and I was hoping that the two of you would be able to tolerate each other, and here you are. You're working together, complimenting each other.

Rick: Okay, um... (laughs) as happy as I am, just let me know when the meeting's back on, okay?

Brooke: (Laughs) Okay. Well, I'll go find Katie.

Thorne: Hey, what time was that check due at the bank?

Ridge: Noon.

Thorne: (Exhales) It's a little late. Is that gonna be a problem?

Ridge: Michael knew it was coming.

Thorne: Well, maybe you should call him and follow up.

Ridge: Wouldn't hurt. Hey, Judy, it's Ridge Forrester. Fine. Fine. Thank you. Hey, is, uh, is Michael around? Unavailable? Okay, just, uh, tell him I called then. Thanks.

Thorne: (Scoffs) He's too busy to take our call?

Ridge: That's what she said.

Bill: I promise you this is going to be fun.

Katie: Stabbing my sisters in the back?

Bill: Are you going to fire them? Demote them? Ask them to take a pay cut?

Katie: Those aren't my decisions to make.

Bill: They could be.

Katie: I don't want that kind of responsibility. Forrester Creations is a family-run business.

Bill: And with you as C.E.O., that wouldn't change.

Katie: If you buy the company, everything will change.

Bill: Including you? That's really what this is about, isn't it? The idea you have of yourself-- a good girl, sweet little Katie Logan. Well, that's not who you are. You are smarter than Brooke and sexier than Donna. You have everything they have and more.

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: You have me. I treat you the way you want to be treated. I see you for who you really are-- the toughest chick in the room.

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: The way you sized me up and took me down-- nobody does that. You saw potential in me, the ability to give a damn, and I do... I do about you. And I want to believe you feel the same way about me.

Katie: Bill, I--

Bill: Not the idea you have of me, Katie. Me. This guy. This guy. This is what I do, Katie. This is why I get up in the morning. And if you can't accept that, then maybe this is a mistake. And I would hate that. The last thing I want, the very last thing I want, is to lose you. I love you. I care about you.

Katie: Wait. Wait. Wait. What--what did you say?

Bill: I care about you.

Katie: Before that.

Bill: If you can't accept me for who I am--

Katie: I do. Bill, I do.

Bill: Forrester Creations is ours.

(Knocking on door)

Ridge: Great day, huh, Dad?

Eric: Yes, a great day. You're right.

Ridge: I'm looking forward to more of these.

Eric: Your loyalty means a great deal to me. You know that? To have you working with me side by side and for me to know that I can always count on you.

Ridge: Always.

Eric: My adopting Marcus doesn't change that.

Ridge: Dad, it doesn't even need to be said.

Eric: No, hang on, well, let me--let me say it then. Look, I want you to know how important you are to me and to this company, that and I can concentrate on design and know that this company is in really, really good hands. (Chuckles) Okay.

(Knocking on door)

Bill: Come in.

Justin: You and Katie were in a while.

Bill: She had a few understandable concerns with my plan.

Justin: Well, you buying Forrester Creations puts her in an awkward position.

Bill: Or a great one.

Justin: (Sighs) You did it.

Bill: The wheels are in motion. We'll let the lawyers work out the details. But I have an agreement with the bank.

Justin: Forrester Creations will be yours. (Chuckles) How does Katie feel about it?

Bill: She has some trepidation. But she knows how this business works. You can't compete without cash. Forrester needs it. I've got it. And now I've got them.

Justin: They don't know about it?

Bill: They're about to find out.

(Door closes)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Donna: Did you find Katie?

Brooke: Nope. She's not even answering her phone.

Donna: It's not like her to miss a meeting.

Brooke: Well, she is being pulled in a lot of different directions.

Donna: Oh. You mean her relationship with Bill.

Brooke: Yeah. I don't think she knows how complicated this could get, especially with Bill obsessing about the company again.

Donna: Yeah, and it could make things difficult for Marcus and Justin. I mean, Marcus is really happy right now, and it's an exciting time for him.

Brooke: For all of us.

Katie: Hi. Sorry I missed the meeting.

Brooke: Where have you been?

Katie: With Bill.

Brooke: I hope you told him to back off.

Katie: (Sighs)

Donna: He wonít.

Katie: No.

Donna: Katie, Eric really needs our best efforts right now.

Katie: Well, I wasn't exactly playing hooky with my boyfriend, Donna.

Donna: Yes, but this meeting was important.

Katie: Not as important as my meeting with Bill, at least not as far as our future is concerned.

Brooke: Well, that's in our hands, not Bill's.

Katie: You're right. Youíre absolutely right. Everyone in this building is essential to the success of this company. And that's not gonna change. The goal is the same. Everyone wants to see Forrester Creations regain its original glory. But new collections cost money. Advertising costs money. You have to spend in order to succeed in this business, and we don't have that kind of capital... at least, we didnít.

Brooke: What are you saying?

Katie: I'm-- I'm gonna tell you something, and you're not gonna like it. Forrester was late with its loan payment today.

Brooke: No, the messenger brought in the receipt.

Katie: Bill called the bank. He knows we missed the deadline, not by much, but we did.

Donna: What is she talking about?

Katie: A short while ago, Bill signed papers to acquire the company. It's official. The commitment has been made, and it's done. Bill Spencer is the new owner of Forrester Creations.
