Brooke: Isn't it time for a lunch break?
Ridge: Breakfast this morning didn't fill you up?
Brooke: We didn't eat, remember?
Ridge: Oh, yeah. Right.
Brooke: Mm. (Giggles)
Ridge: You might have to remind me why.
Brooke: Mm. Okay. Mm. Mm.
Ridge: (Groans) Mmmm.
Ridge: Ridge Forrester.
Michael: Ridge, it's Michael Galey.
Ridge: Yes, Michael?
Michael: You have a loan payment due today.
Ridge: Yeah, well, the, uh, messenger was, uh, supposed to arrive to you this morning. We were waiting on some payments from some of our vendors. Uh, look, Michael, it's a bit of a rough time for us around here, but we'll get through it. We always do.
Michael: Well, the messenger hasn't arrived yet. And as you well know, the terms of the loan are that the bank should have the payment in its hands by noon.
Ridge: The messenger will arrive, okay? He'll be there soon.
Brooke: (Sighs) We'll get through this. Like you said, we always do.
Ridge: (Sighs) Just a bump in the road, right?
Brooke: Right. (Giggles)
Ridge: Let me check out where that messenger is.
Brooke: Hi. I went to look for you in your office earlier.
Katie: I was with Bill.
Ridge: He's still taking quite an interest in you, huh?
Katie: Yeah, he's also interested in something else-- Forrester Creations.
Bill: Getting close, very, very close. The Forrester check has to be in the bank by noon.
Justin: You've got a plan in action.
Bill: Don't I always have a plan in action?
Justin: Timing is everything, as they say.
Bill: That's what they say. So it's a big day for you, huh, finding out you're Marcus' daddy?
Justin: What a trip, right?
Bill: Well, better you than me.
Justin: Didn't quite happen the way I pictured it, but...
Bill: Well, look on the bright side. You won't have to change any diapers.
Justin: I'd give anything to go back in time and raise my son from birth, but I'm--I'm grateful to have him with me now. You know, I think I'm going to stay in L.A., get to know him, shoot some hoops, go to some Laker games, all the things I've always wanted to do with a son.
Marcus: (Sighs) I never thought that the day would come-- meeting my biological father.
Donna: It's a lot to take in. How do you feel?
Marcus: (Sighs) I don't know. It's weird. Um, I didn't think I wanted to know who he was. I didn't think I cared. But now that I've met him--
Donna: You're-- you're glad that he's come into your life.
Donna: Good. Then I'm happy for you. Come here.
Marcus: Me, as well, Mom. But, you know, finding you was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Marcus: And now I found my dad, too.
Donna: Yeah. (Sighs)
Donna: Yeah, I know. He's drawing up the adoption papers right now.
Marcus: Well, how's he gonna feel when he finds out about this? I mean--
Donna: I don't--I don't know.
Eric: Well, you're just the two I want to see.
Eric: The paperwork has all been finalized. All we have to do is sign it.
Donna: Eric, um, I-I think there's something I need to tell you.
Marcus: N-no, Mom. It okay. Let me tell him.
Eric: (Laughs) Tell me what?
Marcus: Someone came into my life, Eric-- my biological father.
Brooke: Bill Spencerís after our company again?
Ridge: I'm surprised he would even admit that to you.
Brooke: He must have known that you'd come tell us about this. I know this is hard for you, Katie. You thought Bill had changed.
Katie: Well, this isn't personal, Brooke. It's business. Bill made a very strong argument for taking over Forrester, and I think you both should hear it.
Ridge: So what are you saying? We should just hand our company over to Bill Spencer?
Katie: I'm saying you should listen to what he proposed, that some of his ideas made a lot of sense.
Ridge: Well, Katie, I'm not interested in any ideas that that guy has concerning our company.
Katie: I think you should listen, Ridge. You can't deny that Forresterís having a difficult time. If bill were to take over the company--
Ridge: It's not gonna happen.
Katie: If he were to buy us out, Forrester would have the backing of the entire Spencer media empire-- unlimited P.R., world-wide exposure, not to mention a rock-solid financial foundation.
Brooke: This is ridiculous. I can't even believe that you would go along with this.
Ridge: Forrester Creations is not for sale, and it's never going to be. Do you hear me? Bill Spencer is never gonna get his hands on this company.
Bill: Well, congratulations. I'm, uh, I'm happy for you. You got yourself a son today. You gonna make me godfather? (Chuckles) You know what? Marcus is lucky to have you as a dad. And, uh, he seems to be a pretty good kid.
Justin: Yeah. (Sighs) He's a great kid.
Bill: What's wrong? You're worried you're not gonna cut it as a father?
Justin: No. I'm just afraid I found out about Marcus too late.
Bill: Oh, come on. You'll make up for lost time.
Justin: No, it's not that. It's Eric Forrester. He's adopting Marcus today. In fact, they're probably signing the paperwork right now.
Eric: You met your father?
Marcus: Yes. This morning.
Eric: How? How did that happen?
Donna: He--he came to L.A. recently. As you know, Justin-- th-th-that's his name-- he wasn't aware that he had a son. Well, I-I didn't know what to do, Eric. I mean, I wanted to tell both of you, but Marcus insisted that he didn't want to know his biological father.
Donna: But--but Justin figured out that he was his father, and... (sighs) he's a really, really good man. And I-I didn't want to deprive Marcus or Justin the chance of getting to know one another and... Eric, I'm so sorry. I just hate that this is happening now, and you're about to adopt Marcus, and I just hope that you understand.
Eric: Huh. Huh. Wow. This man--you--your father-- uh, does he seem like a... (sighs) does he seem like a good guy? And you're okay with this?
Marcus: Yes, I am.
Eric: Well, then so am I.
Donna: (Sighs) You're not upset?
Eric: No. No. Well, uh-uh-uh-- this must be incredible for you. I mean, meeting your father after all this time. Well, tell me about him. What--in
Marcus: Well, he-- he works for Bill Spencer.
Eric: He works for-- all right, I'm not gonna hold that against him.
Donna: Oh, Eric. Despite the company he keeps, he--he's a kind and decent man. He--he's always... (sighs) always wanted children. It just never really happened for him, and-- well, until now. He wants to be part of Marcusís life.
Marcus: And I would like to get to know him as well.
Eric: Good. Well, the question is, are we gonna be needing these adoption papers?
Bill: So your long-lost son not only works at Forrester Creations. He is about to become a Forrester himself. I guess your world just got a lot more complicated, didn't it?
Justin: Like yours when you got involved with Katie Logan.
(Knocking on door)
Bill: Come in.
Hillary: Michael Galey from the bank is here.
Bill: Good. Send him in.
Bill: Michael, it's been a while. Always good to see the money man face-to-face. This is my right hand Justin Barber.
Michael: Good to meet you.
Michael: So you asked to see me. Are you dissatisfied with our service in any way?
Bill: You are here, because if my information is correct, and it always is, this could be a monumental day for your bank and for me. I believe it was 12:00 noon when I called and asked you to come over here. Had you received the Forresters' payment yet? If not, they're in default on their loan, which means you're going to have to foreclose, and I'm going to buy Forrester Creations.
Brooke: You would have to be crazy think that we would ever let Bill Spencer control this company.
Katie: I'm just telling you what Bill was saying.
Brooke: Well, it seems like you're agreeing with him.
Brooke: I think dating Bill wasn't such a good idea. I started believing that he had genuine feelings for you, but now I'm not so sure.
Katie: What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Brooke: Just be careful, Katie.
Katie: Bill wants controlling interest of the company to bail us out.
Ridge: We don't need him to bail us out.
Katie: Really, Ridge? He would keep us all onboard.
Ridge: Oh, how generous. How very generous. It's not gonna happen, Katie. We are not handing our company over to Bill Spencer.
Katie: I understand your concerns. I really do, but Bill made some very valid points. We're barely breaking even here. Our clothes aren't exactly flying off the racks, because people can't afford to buy them. If we can't sell clothes, we can't stay afloat. If Bill owned the company--
Brooke: Okay, wait. Ridge and I run the company with Eric. So tell me, Katie, if bill were to buy the company, who would he put in charge? You? His girlfriend?
Eric: Well, your head must be spinning right now, meeting your--your father for the first time after all these years. I mean, I-I--this must be...
Eric: Very emotional for you.
Marcus: It's--it's been a very interesting day, I might add.
Marcus: It's definitely thrown me for a loop.
Eric: I would understand if you need a little more time to sort of process all this. And--and, uh, I would also understand if--if, uh, if this changes things for you.
Marcus: You mean about the adoption.
Marcus: (Sighs) Eric, ever since you found out that I'm Donnaís son, you've been like a father to me-- welcoming me into the family, giving me more responsibility at Forrester, treating me like I'm already your son. I mean, don't get me wrong. Meeting my biological dad, it was cool. He seemed like an okay guy. It'll give me a chance to get to know him better. But you and my mom are together. You're solid. And I know that this adoption means so much to her. No man, and I mean no man has ever been there for me like the way you have. For the three of us to be together, a real family, legally, well, that would just be huge for my mom and me. So I understand if things have changed for you.
Eric: (Sighs) No. No, they havenít. Not at all. I would like very much to have you officially be a member of the Forrester family. So all we really have to do is sign the papers.
Marcus: All right. (Chuckles)
Eric: (Chuckles) Good. Come here. Sign this right here. Here.
Eric: There. Now... you are officially Marcus Forrester. (Chuckles)
Eric: (Mouthing words)
Michael: You want me to foreclose on Forrester Creations?
Bill: Well, isn't that what a bank does when a client defaults on a loan?
Michael: We don't treat our long-term clients like that. The Forresters have been good friends to this bank for years.
Bill: Well, not anymore. It's a bad loan, Michael, and you know it. You sweat it out every month wondering if the Forresters will make their payments. Now that's got to weigh on you. There's a lot of unemployed bankers out there. No time for job insecurity.
Michael: What is your point?
Bill: The Forresters didn't meet the terms of their loan. They're in default. You have to act in the best interest of the bank, not to mention you own best interests. I took the liberty of having these papers drawn up for the sale of Forrester Creations to me. It's our standard asset purchase agreement securing my commitment to buy Forrester Creations after the foreclosure. I am prepared to sign. All you have to do is sign on behalf of the bank. I will then wire over the funds, and it will be a done deal.
Michael: Give me the pen.
Bill: You're making the right move, Mike.
Bill: Yes, Hillary?
Hillary: Mr. Spencer, Katie Logan is here.
Bill: Wonderful. Send her in. All right, gentlemen, I believe this concludes our business. Mike, I will have the signed documents over to you shortly.
Bill: Hi, beautiful.
Bill: Twice in one day. Why am I so lucky?
Katie: Maybe I just missed you.
Katie: I-I stopped by Forrester. I ran your proposal by Ridge and Brooke.
Bill: You told them?
Katie: Yeah. I thought you had some good points, and I thought that they should hear them from me.
Bill: They won't sell.
Bill: Well, what is it? What else is going on?
Katie: Oh, it's just something that Brooke said as I was leaving. She, uh, she asked who you would put in charge if you took over the company. Me? Katie? Your girlfriend? And then she and Ridge laughed.
Bill: They laughed at you?
Katie: I'm sure they weren't trying to be mean, but they seemed to think it was real funny. Whatever. It's no big deal.
Bill: No, Katie, it is a big deal. Without you, Forrester Creations wouldn't have hung on this long, all right? And if Ridge and Brooke can't see that... (sighs) Look, you are never going to get the respect you deserve as long as Eric, Ridge and Brooke are running that company. Join forces with me.
Bill: Look. The bank's already signed off. The stroke of a pen, and Forrester Creations is ours.
Katie: Wouldn't that be stabbing my sister in the back?
Bill: The same sister who just insulted you? Laughed at the thought of you running Forrester Creations? Katie, it's time you stood up for yourself, reached your full potential. All I have to do is sign those papers, and Forrester Creations is ours.
Katie: Don't do it. Don't do it. Please. For me. Don't-- don't sign those papers.
