Brooke: (Sighs)

Jackie: Oh. (Laughs)

Owen: Who's this?

Jackie: The competition, perhaps?

Owen: Oh. Well, bring him on.

Jackie: No. You know what? Let me come onto you first.

Owen: Mm. Whip Jones?

Jackie: Mm-hmm.

Owen: What's his middle name, ball and chain?

Jackie: (Laughs) You are so funny.

Owen: (Laughs)

Jackie: Actually, he's our new head of P.R.

Owen: Oh.

Jackie: I have a feeling that Stephanie suckered us a bit on this one, though.

Owen: Oh. What, is she another one of his relatives?

Jackie: Mm, no. But she knows him, and when I said, "Why don't we just take a little bit more time to decide," you know what?

Owen: Mm.

Jackie: She became like a used car salesman-- "No, we've got to hire him now. Someone else will get him." (Laughs)

Owen: Hmm. What's that all about?

Jackie: I'm wondering the same thing, darling.

Owen: Mm.

Whip: You know, I heard a lot of stories, but I never would have expected you in Sally Spectra's old building.

Stephanie: (Inhales sharply) I know. A little strange. (Laughs) Last I heard of, uh, Sally, she was, uh, floating around the Canary Islands with a gaggle of cabana boys.

Whip: (Laughs) She's quite a woman, that one.

Stephanie: Bigger than life.

Whip: Well, we could say the same thing about you.

Stephanie: Oh.

Whip: Hmm? Look, thanks for helping me nail down the job.

Stephanie: It's pretty tough out there, isn't it?

Whip: Yeah. I was getting a little desperate.

Stephanie: With your talent?

Whip: That's for sure.

Stephanie: You are desperate no longer.

Whip: As long as I do my job.

Stephanie: Absolutely... both of them, I hope.

Ridge: Logan... (Sighs) you--you can't do this to me. I'm with Taylor now, Taylor and my kids.

Brooke: Ridge, I realize that, but just for a moment, I want you to forget about Taylor.

Ridge: Forget about her?

Brooke: Yes. Just hear me out. You and I have been on an emotional roller coaster with Phoebe's death and Rick and Taylor. We've had so much thrown at us, more than any married couple should ever have to deal with. And you know what? We would have made it through if we didn't make mistakes.

Ridge: Brooke, where is all this heading?

Brooke: You and I always said that we could get through anything and overcome everything. And we believed it, and we always marveled in that. Yes, Ridge, we've had our doubts about other things in life, but never our love.

Ridge: Brooke, I have moved on. I've had to move on.

Brooke: No. No, you haven’t. You may think you have, but you can never move on with Taylor or anybody else when you have unresolved feelings. And that's what you have for us, for our marriage, our--our relationship.

Ridge: Logan, listen to me. Thomas and Steffy have been suffering ever since the moment we lost Phoebe. Taylor has been in her own private little hell as well. I made a promise to this family, Brooke, a promise I can't go back on now.

Brooke: A promise? What are you saying?

Brooke: Oh, God. Please don't tell me you're going to marry Taylor again.

Owen: Mm.

Jackie: Oh. Stephanie really went to bat with this guy.

Owen: Well, it looks to me like she hit a home run.

Jackie: Hmm.

Owen: He got the job, didn't he?

Jackie: Yeah. Maybe she stole a few bases along the way, though.

Owen: Mm. Mm. I'd just like to get past first base.

Jackie: You're rounding to second.

Owen: I am just about to slide right into home.

Jackie: (Laughs)

Owen: Mm.

Jackie: (Sighs) He's very handsome, though, isn't he? I guess he'd have to be, married to Brooke.

Owen: Wait a minute. This guy was married to Brooke Logan?

Jackie: Mm, yeah. He was.

Owen: What's that all about? Come on. Stephanie's got to be up to something, don't you think?

Jackie: Stephanie, darling, is always up to something. It's just what she's up to with Mr. Whip Jones that I don't get. Do you think we made a mistake allowing her to persuade me to hire him?

Owen: Sunshine, you do not make very many mistakes.

Jackie: Well, hardly any. (Laughs)

Owen: So now we've got Whip, and we've got Stephanie’s sister. What, did she persuade you into hiring her as well?

Jackie: Oh.

Owen: (Laughs)

Jackie: Yes, yes, yes. She did. She talked me into hiring Pammy and Mr. Whip Jones. (Sighs)

Owen: Well, maybe they're perfectly qualified. She has worked with the both of them, hasn't she?

Jackie: Hmm. That's what she'd like us to believe, but you know what? Ridge is back with Taylor, and Whip, Brooke’s ex-husband, Stephanie is heralding like he is the second coming. I'm telling you, she's got an agenda, and I want to know what it is.

Stephanie: Brooke is a very complicated woman, and despite the fact that her marriage to Ridge is on the rocks--

Whip: Yeah, what happened there?

Stephanie: The marriage license was invalid.

Whip: Is that the reason that they broke up?

Stephanie: No.

Whip: Okay, maybe you should let me in on the whole story here, Stephanie, so that I know what I'm getting involved in.

Stephanie: Ridge is back with Taylor, and that's where I want to put all my support.

Whip: Yeah, and that's where I come in.

Stephanie: Mm-hmm.

Whip: (Inhales sharply) (Sighs) But the question is, can I or anyone come between Ridge and Brooke?

Ridge: Marriage to Taylor-- I-I-I don't know, Brooke. I don't know.

Brooke: (Sighs) It's what Taylor wants, not to mention Thomas and Steffy.

Ridge: It's too early to tell. I just moved in.

Brooke: It's never too late to change your mind.

Ridge: Oh, for God's sakes, Logan. I intended to spend the rest of my life with you. I worked damn hard to try and make that happen, but you made it very clear that I needed to move on, it was over, that I should be with Taylor.

Brooke: And you agreed.

Ridge: Given the state of our relationship, our insurmountable problems, yes, I agreed. What, are you just now changing your mind?

Brooke: I made a mistake.

Ridge: I tried to tell you that, Brooke, way back then. You--you... (sighs) you totally overreacted to a night that I barely even remember now.

Brooke: And Taylor took advantage of your pain.

Ridge: No, she didn't take advantage of it. I took all that medication myself, Brooke. It had nothing to do with Taylor. Why are you dredging all this up now?

Brooke: Because I'm hurt, Ridge, and I'm confused. And I see things differently now. When you told me that you slept with Taylor, it was like a knife in my heart.

Ridge: Well, I tried to do everything I could to help you through that. I pleaded with you. I begged. But you made it very clear that it was over. If I thought for one moment that you didn't mean it--

Brooke: I did mean it. I did then. But I caved in too easily, Ridge. It--it wasn't just Taylor and what she did, but it was Rick, and everything seemed so hopeless.

Ridge: And it doesn't now?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Logan, you're the one that said live for yourself, live your life for yourself. Don't live it for your son or anyone else.

Brooke: Yeah, it's true. I think, uh, I think I may have sided too strongly with my son. And Steffy's... (sighs) she's really a smart girl. I'm sure she'll figure out what to do with that relationship. In the meantime, here I am. I'm just left with this feeling that--that I sent you to Taylor because of an issue that doesn't even threaten us anymore. But it's too late, isn't it?

Ridge: (Sighs)

Brooke: You're with Taylor now... all because of me.

Brooke: What have I done? (Voice cracking) What have I done? (Sniffles) (Sighs)

Steffy: What's going on here? Dad, please tell me you're not going back to Brooke.

Ridge: No, sweetheart. It's just a difficult time for Brooke. She's going through a hard time.

Ridge: Logan, if you don't mind, could I have a moment alone with my daughter?

Whip: So Rick is the real reason that Ridge and Brooke broke up.

Stephanie: He has a very destructive personality. But the point is it's over, only this time, it's over in a way that's different than any other time. There are genuinely irreconcilable differences, I think.

Whip: Well, maybe there's an opening. (Sighs) How are Ridge and Taylor?

Stephanie: Solid. Solid. And I think my son has learned a lesson from this whole situation with Brooke.

Whip: Really? What's that?

Stephanie: That he has a genuine and deep appreciation of Taylor.

Whip: Yeah, but does he love her?

Stephanie: Oh, I believe he does.

Whip: Hmm.

Stephanie: Just like I think you're still in love with Brooke.

Whip: Show me a man who hasn't gotten close to Brooke who's not fallen under her spell.

Stephanie: (Laughs)

Whip: (Laughs)

Stephanie: It never ceases to amaze me. (Sighs) Well, there's your motivation.

Whip: Well, anyway, thank you for helping me get the job.

Stephanie: I know you won't let me down.

Jackie: Stephanie. You're sending Whip off to Brooke, aren't you?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Steffy: I can't tell you how to live your life. I never want to do that. But I am--I'm trying-- I am trying so hard not to interfere.

Ridge: Honey, I know all that. I know how much you love having me at home. I do, too. I mean, it means so much to me spending time with you and Thomas.

Steffy: Dad, it's not just Thomas and me. It's Mom, too. When I see you guys together, I just think, wow, you guys are really tight. All of us together as a family-- no pressure, no hidden agenda-- everything is just perfect. (Sighs)

Ridge: It has been very special.

Steffy: I know you're always gonna care for Brooke. And I know she's going through a tough time. But so did Mom-- a lot of them.

Ridge: I know.

Steffy: And she survived, and so will Brooke. She'll find another man, and she'll move on. But we need you.

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Stephanie: Paranoia gives you wrinkles.

Jackie: Ooh, paranoia. (Laughs) Hope that's what it is. But in our interview with Whip, I definitely got a vibe.

Stephanie: What kind of a vibe?

Jackie: That you are steering things.

Stephanie: Oh, come on. He's exactly what we need.

Jackie: Yeah, or is he what you need?

Stephanie: All right. Say what's on your mind.

Jackie: (Laughs) I'm onto you, Stephanie. You are not championing Whip Jones because of his public relations ability.

Stephanie: Come on. I did--I didn't even know he was coming in for the interview. It's all here in his résumé.

Jackie: Hmm. But what isn't in his résumé is that he and Brooke were once very, very close.

Stephanie: What has that got to do with his job?

Jackie: (Laughs) Well, that depends on which job you're talking about, doesn't it? Taking care of the company or taking care of Brooke?

Stephanie: (Sighs)

(Doorbell rings)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Brooke: Whip.

Whip: Brooke.

Brooke: (Sighs) Well, what are you doing here?

Whip: Well, I just moved back. Uh, I thought I'd come by.

Brooke: Oh. Uh, well, you-- (Stammers) Right now is not a good time.

Whip: Oh, do you have-- do you have company?

Brooke: No. No, it's not that. It's just... (Laughs) uh, no, it's not that. Come in. Come on in. Don't just stand there.

Whip: I, uh, I heard about you and Ridge. I'm sorry. I know how much that relationship meant to you.

Brooke: Means to me, Whip. Means to me.

Whip: Yeah. So what are you gonna do now?

Brooke: I don't know. (Sighs) I haven't figured out how to deal with that.

Whip: Oh, yeah. Acceptance-- that's--that's tough.

Brooke: Mm. I'm not quite there.

Whip: Yeah. You'll get there.

Brooke: I'm not so sure. (Sighs)

Whip: After everything you've been through, Brooke, ups and downs, come on.

Brooke: (Laughs)

Whip: You'll get through this.

Brooke: Yeah. I guess I need to hear that.

Whip: Hey, look, you and I go back a long way, right?

Brooke: Mm-hmm. Have I changed?

Whip: Hmm.

Brooke: Yes, I have. Have you changed? (Laughs)

Whip: Changed? What do you want to change about me?

Brooke: (Laughs) Still as humble as ever.

Whip: Oh, no. Of course I've changed. Hasn't everybody?

Brooke: No. No. My mother-in-law hasn't changed. Mm, Stephanie will never change. (Sighs) What?

Whip: I'd like to see you again, Brooke.

Brooke: (Laughs) No. No. No, you wouldn't like to see me. I'm--I'm not really good company right now...

Whip: Oh.

Brooke: And I'm not going to be for a while.

Whip: Well, you know what? When you're not good company, you need to be around good company. I can be very good company.

Brooke: Yeah, that's true. I certainly remember that.

Whip: Yeah, so do I. I mean, how can you not love a guy who's gonna dress up in lingerie for you, huh?

Brooke: That's right. And you gave me great feet massages right here at this right--table.

Whip: Right--right here. Look, the first time I met you, you needed help, right?

Whip: Maybe I can help you now.

Brooke: No. No, there's really not-- (Sighs) There's nothing that you or anybody could do to help me.

Whip: No. No. Look... maybe there is... if you let me.
