Bridget: Aah! (Laughs) What shot you out of a cannon?

Nick: Am I not allowed to be happy?

Bridget: Well, you can be happy, or you can let me go get the champagne that you asked me to chill.

Nick: All in good time. All in good time.

Bridget: Wow. Are you excited about something other than poor Owen being fired, you big bully?

Nick: Can I just... enjoy my euphoria for this moment? The guy played his hand, and now he's out of there. (Laughs cruelly)

Katie: Have you eaten?

Brooke: Yes.

Katie: And the kids are in bed?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Katie: So what can I do?

Brooke: Nothing. I'm fine.

Katie: You're not fine. Ridge moved out. Rick called me. He told me what happened. He does--he doesn't think you should be alone, and I don't think you should be with him right now.

Brooke: Did he tell you about him and Steffy?

Katie: Yes.

Brooke: Ridge thinks I should forbid it, but I don't see how I can do that, because they can't seem to stay away from each other. And somehow it's all my fault.

Katie: Ridge is upset with Rick, not with you.

Brooke: No, no, he's upset with me.

Katie: He'll come around. He'll be back. He doesn't do alone well.

Brooke: He wonít be alone.

Taylor: You should get ready for bed.

Ridge: Mmm.

Stephanie: Taylor, excuse me, I-I just remembered something. Could--may I speak with you just for second before I leave?

Taylor: Where did you get those?

Stephanie: They were on the-- on the bed. What are they for?

Taylor: It's my prescription for anxiety. Actually, I'm glad I had them with me, because I had to give one to Ridge yesterday. He was so upset.

Stephanie: Well, I-I just wanted you to know I-I saw him take one a little while ago.

(Cork pops)

Nick: Ahh!

Bridget: Wow. Then did your mom break up with Owen?

Nick: One thing at a time, my dear. One thing at a time.

Bridget: Well, I'm not drinking to poor Owen being fired, because I think he meant no harm.

Nick: Well, let him go be harmless someplace else.

Bridget: Well, maybe he could go get a job someplace else and keep sleeping with your mom.

Nick: Yes, but he won't do that, my dear, because he'll be perfectly happy sitting around waxing his surfboard while my mother goes to work. But eventually, she'll realize what a loser he is. (Laughs) Here.

Jackie: You disappeared.

Owen: Well, I had to go out and get this. And no, I did not charge it to your credit card. The store said we could take it back anytime we want. Now let's see how well it fits your finger, because I had to guess.

Katie: Brooke, don't you think you should give it some time?

Brooke: I can't let him think that I'm angry.

(Cell phone rings)

Brooke: Ridge?

Rid: I'm here.

Brooke: Where are you?

Ridge: My father's, the guesthouse.

Brooke: I really wish you'd come home.

Ridge: I can't do that, Logan. You know that-- not when Rick could walk through the door at any time, day or night.

Brooke: I didn't call to argue. I just... (Sighs) I just wanted to say good night.

Ridge: Thank you.

Brooke: And I also want to tell you how much I love you. And I know we're gonna work this out. You're gonna be home soon with me and we'll be happy.

Ridge: Good night, Logan.

(Phone disconnects)

Taylor: He couldnít have taken that many.

Stephanie: So they're-- they're just for anxiety, right?

Taylor: That's the intended purpose. Why? Are you telling me I should be concerned about something?

Stephanie: No, not really, no.

Taylor: Well, I-I can take a step back and approach this and be a little more detached.

Stephanie: No, no, Taylor, that would be the worst thing that you could do. No, honey, don't keep him at arm's length. You're his lifeline.

(Door closes)

(Knock on door)

Ridge: Come in. Was that Mother leaving?

Taylor: Yeah. Um, I probably should be going, too.

Ridge: Brooke called.

Taylor: How many of these did you take?

Ridge: Oh, I didn't think you'd mind.

Taylor: I didn't say that I do. How many?

Ridge: Why? Does there seem like there's something wrong with me?

Taylor: I only gave you one yesterday because you were very upset.

Ridge: Doc, Doc, I-I-I-I figured you wouldn't give me something unless it was okay for me. Doc, I'm fine.

Nick: What do you think is the worst thing I could do to you that I haven't already done?

Bridget: Are you asking for suggestions? Are you running out of ideas?

Nick: Would you just humor me here, because I do have a point.

Bridget: Okay. Um, well, you haven't cut me to tiny pieces while I've been sleeping.

Nick: OkayÖ

Bridget: You haven't beaten me. Um--

Nick: Beaten you?

Bridget: You asked.

Nick: I asked for you to think of things that I could do.

Bridget: You havenít... forged my signature on a check-- are you getting at the fact that you've already done every miserable thing that you could ever do to me?

Nick: It's true, isn't it? Iíve been quite a beast. I don't really know if I could sink any lower than I already have.

Bridget: Who am I to argue?

Nick: Um...

Nick: Then marry me?

Nick: What do you got to lose?

Bridget: Nick, I--

Nick: Don't--don't tell me, your self-respect and, um, uh, the concern of the people around you. Please, not that.

Bridget: I'm not concerned with the people around me. I think they're crazier than I am. And I had very little self-respect when we first got together 'cause I was scared and insecure.

Nick: Well, you werenít wrong to be scared, Bridget.

Bridget: My god, Nick, I grew up with you. I defined myself around you. I lost a baby with you, and then I lost you and I finally discovered my boundaries and what I could and could not tolerate. But my self-respect is fine.

Nick: I don't mean to sound dense, but was that a yes? 'Cause I was hoping for a quickie answer so you wouldn't dwell on my endless stupidity while was married to you.

Nick: I need you. And I think we're really good together. And it seems as though no matter what happens in our lives, we always seem to wind up here. And I promise you I'll be good to you till death do us part, like I said the first time. It's just that this time I think I might know what I'm doing now.

Bridget: This time, I think, in all fairness, the invitation should say, "no gifts please."

Nick: (Chuckles)

Nick: Thank you. I love you.

Bridget: That was your best proposal yet.

Owen: You don't want it?

Jackie: It's beautiful.

Owen: But you changed your mind.

Jackie: Here's what I suspect is going through your mind-- I didn't stand up for you with Nicky.

Owen: No, you didnít.

Jackie: It's just that I saw the handwriting on the wall. Every time that he came into the office and he saw you, he'd--he'd humiliate you. He--he would accuse you, and--and it's just not worth it. It's not worth the strain of my relationship with you, with him. And--and now you're just worried that he's not gonna be satisfied until you're out on the street. Owen, you don't have to marry me just to have a place to live.

Brooke: He's at the guesthouse. (Sighs)

Katie: Where did you think he was?

Brooke: (Sighs) He spent the night with Taylor last night at Big Bear. It's not what you're thinking. She was just helping him. I guess I should be grateful.

Katie: Yeah, I think that's asking a lot of yourself.

Brooke: Ridge said that he was happy. He was happy to be able to talk to somebody else that knows him so well after everything we've been through. But how could being away from each other actually make him happy?

Taylor: I should not have given you one of these.

Ridge: Taylor, I'm fine.

Taylor: As a doctor, I should know better.

Ridge: What? Is there some Jekyll-and-Hyde change in me that I'm not seeing?

Taylor: I'm just not comfortable with the idea of people self-medicating.

Ridge: We, I didn't think I was. I thought you approved. Look, I would have taken them in front of you, but you were out there with my mother.

Taylor: How many did you take?

Ridge: Two.

Taylor: Look, if you're not feeling better in a couple of days, I'll write you a prescription of your own, okay?

Ridge: Okay. Whatever you think is best.

Taylor: I mean it. I don't want you to hesitate if you need to ask me for anything, anything you need.

Bridget: I have an idea.

Nick: Hmm?

Bridget: Why don't we just start saying we're married and skip the embarrassing part?

Nick: No. I'm not gonna let you get away with some technicality when I start getting white weird hairs in my ears and my butt shrivels up.

Bridget: All right. But you're doing all the talking. I'm just going to say "I do."

Nick: Your mother's gonna want to take you to a de-programmer, you know that, don't you?

Bridget: My mother won't be shocked at all.

Nick: She always tells me to stay away from you.

Bridget: Mm, she doesn't remember 80% of the stuff she says, believe me. (Exhales deeply)

Nick: Oh, no. What's the matter? Not cold feet that something would-- would happen? What's the matter?

Bridget: Is your butt really gonna shrivel up?

Nick: Not for a while. Not for a-- not for a long while.

Bridget: My eyesight will probably be gone by then, anyway.

Owen: I'm not worried about finding a place to live. I always manage to land on my feet.

Jackie: Oh, I'm not suggesting that you can't take care of yourself.

Owen: Look, I want to take care of you. Look, I know that I am the lightweight

this relationship, and I can't buy you yachts or--or big diamond earrings yet. But you can buy them for yourself. Should that threaten my sense of manhood? Yeah. But I am not threatened by you one bit. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to level things out legally so the next time that Nick come barging in, I can say, "This is our house, and this is my wife"...

Jackie: (Sighs)

Owen: "We don't want you here." Look, I love you. And I'm not afraid, and I will never try to change a single thing about you. You are perfect just the way you are. And I want to be with you, if you'll let me.

Brooke: (Sniffles)

Ridge: We always were able to talk about anything.

Taylor: Not always, but mostly.

Ridge: I know I wasn't always easy.

Taylor: You not easy? That's not the way I remember it.

Ridge: And I know I hurt you.

Taylor: Ridge, this is a whole new chapter in our lives. I don't think I've seen you happy for a very long time. When you were with me and the kids, you were always happy.

Ridge: Very.

Taylor: I want to make you happy again.

Brooke: Good night, Ridge.

Taylor: Good night.

Ridge: Good night, Doc.
