Brooke: Thank God you're home.
Brooke: How are you?
Ridge: Uh, a night up at Big Bear was just what I needed.
Brooke: Oh. (Sighs) Okay, so that's where you were. Well, that's good. It gave you some time alone to think. (Sighs) Ridge, there's so much I want to say--
Ridge: I wasn't alone. Taylor was with me.
Taylor: Oh, my God, Stephanie, do you know how long it's been since I have seen Ridge laugh and--and smile and-- and actually be happy? I mean, we were just sitting there. We were talking. We--we were so close, and right before my eyes, I swear he had such a peace come over him. I-I thought I was gonna cry.
Stephanie: That's what you've always brought to his life. I just wish he could see that.
Taylor: Well, maybe he does. He is leaving Brooke.
Bridget: Good morning. Are you gonna come back to bed?
Nick: (Chuckles) Maybe in a little bit. Maybe after I shower or something.
Bridget: I want you to come back to bed right now. (Laughs) Come on. Come on.
(Cell phone rings)
Nick: I'll tell you what. You get your phone call...
Nick: And, uh, I'll be back in a little bit... maybe.
Bridget: Hurry. Hi.
Owen: Hey, uh, I hope I'm not interrupting.
Bridget: Mm, no. What's going on?
Owen: Is Nick nearby?
Bridget: Um, no.
Owen: Okay, good. Bridget, I-- look, you've got to talk to this guy.
Bridget: About what?
Owen: Look, about me. He's driving me crazy.
Bridget: Oh, because of the whole you and Jackie thing.
Owen: Look, I really don't want to lose this job.
Bridget: You're not gonna lose your job, silly. You're doing great work.
Owen: Look, it doesn't matter. The guy is out to get me. He wants me out of the company. I mean, he can't do that, can he? Who owns this place anyways?
Bridget: Wow, you're really intimidated.
Owen: Yeah, I am, and I hate it, but what am I supposed to do? He's totally against mine and Jackieís relationship. Look, would it be asking too much for me to have you talk to him and put in a good word for me?
Bridget: I can probably do better than that.
Owen: But how?
Bridget: Well, just give me the morning. His schedule's pretty clear, right?
Owen: No. No. He's all clear.
Bridget: Okay. Well, let me see what I can do.
Owen: Oh, God, I would owe you so, so much.
Bridget: Yes, you will, and I will expect to collect. I'll talk to you later. (Laughs)
Brooke: You were with Taylor all night?
Ridge: I needed her, Logan.
Brooke: (Scoffs) You needed her?
Ridge: It's not what you're thinking. We slept in different bedrooms.
Brooke: So you went over to her place after you left here?
Ridge: No. I went to see Phoebe, to her grave site. Taylor just happened to be there.
Brooke: I see.
Ridge: She understands what I'm going through.
Brooke: (Sighs) And I donít.
Ridge: You haven't lost a child. We have.
Brooke: Ridge, I have tried so hard to be sensitive to that.
Ridge: Well, apparently not hard enough.
Brooke: Because I support my son?
Ridge: He's the reason that Phoebe's not with us anymore, Brooke. That's not your fault. I'm not blaming you. But it was Rickís arrogance and his lack of concern that killed my daughter. You can spin it any way you want, but that's what happened. I'll always hate him for that. And yet you allow him to come and go freely in this home, our home. Well, I can't live with that, Brooke. I'm sorry. I just canít.
Jackie: Mm. Mm.
Jackie: Mm. Let me just shut the door. Actually, let me lock the door.
Owen: No, donít. Look, if Nick finds that door locked, he's going to throw a fit.
Jackie: All right, darling. That's his problem, isn't it?
Owen: Mm. Is he due in?
Jackie: Um, oh, my God. He's actually late. He's late for a meeting with the accountants. You better get him on the phone. He might have forgotten.
Owen: Uh, it's his voicemail. Nope, he's not answering.
Jackie: Okay, well, we'll just have to go ahead without him then.
Owen: Yeah, I guess we will.
Jackie: Okay. I'll get them.
Nick: (Panting) Showered and... whoa!
Nick: Hold that pose.
Bridget: I looked, and your schedule is free this morning.
Nick: (Sighs) Well, then.
Nick: Really? Well. Breakfast... the most important meal of the day.
Stephanie: He actually told you that he's going to leave Brooke?
Taylor: And he meant it, Stephanie. I am telling you, I have never seen him so down in my life. It actually scared me. But then as we started talking, he--he just started to come out of it. It's like I-I watched this veil being lifted off of his eyes. Literally, Stephanie. I-I watched him see how hopeless everything has become. I mean, I saw him have this huge epiphany.
Stephanie: Well, he wouldn't have gotten there without you.
Taylor: I so want to believe that. That's why for the first time in years, I feel like I finally have hope. You know, it's like I-- I could see it in his eyes that he realized that this whole thing has been a fantasy...
Taylor: And that he doesn't have to have Brooke in his life to be happy. And in fact, the only way he's going to be happy is to be without her.
Ridge: When I left here last night and walked out that door past my daughter and your son standing there together, I honestly thought I was gonna lose it.
Brooke: I shouldn't have let you leave.
Ridge: You had a choice to support me or your son. You chose Rick.
Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, I didn't see it as a choice. I wanted to support both of you.
Ridge: But you know that's impossible, Brooke. I've told you that so many times. That's what's been driving me crazy, but you just can't see it. I know you want to, and I desperately want you to, but it's just not in the cards. For the first time, I realized that last night. I don't remember how I got to Phoebe's grave site. (Sighs) That's how out of it I was. When I got there, I bottomed out. Thank God Taylor was there. She must have known how desperate I was feeling.
Brooke: How could she not know? You were on the verge of a breakdown, and she is a psychiatrist.
Ridge: And she took care of me. I didn't ask her to. I didn't even want her to. But she knew what I needed, Logan-- to feel some semblance, some small semblance of peace in my life, and I found that with her. Then the cabin... (Sighs) I don't know why, but somehow I started to see that I'd be okay and that I could feel joy again. I desperately needed to do that.
Brooke: (Sighs) So you're telling me that Taylor gave you that joy, something that I couldn't give you.
Ridge: I guess so. I don't know. Something gave me joy up there at the cabin. In that moment of clarity, I realized that things can't go on this way, with Rick doing his dance, always circling back to Steffy, knowing what it does to me.
Brooke: Ridge, this isn't about you anymore. Rick is doing his best to become a better person. And don't forget, he didn't press charges against Thomas. And now they're working together at Forrester Creations. I just wish you could forgive my son the way he forgave Thomas.
Ridge: Well, I'm not sure that he has forgiven Thomas. I think it's all part of some sick plan of his. No, Brooke, I can't forgive him. The very thought of him drives me up the wall and sends me spinning. I will not go back to that. Last night, I felt so good. Today, when I come here, ev-everything, you know, star--walls start closing in on me again.
Brooke: Ridge, please. This doesn't make any sense.
Ridge: No, maybe it doesnít. Maybe it's totally illogical on my part, but that happens when you lose a child. Your world changes. You need support from your wife. But I'm not getting that. I haven't gotten that since Phoebe died. You're all about Rick. You haven't lost a daughter. He hasn't lost a daughter. He hasn't lost anything.
Brooke: Yes, he has. He loved Phoebe.
Ridge: And now he loves Steffy? No. No, no, Brooke. I need you to take a stand against that relationship. I need you to take a stand alongside me and fight it, or I'll lose another daughter to that kid, and I'm not gonna let that happen.
Brooke: Rick is not the epitome of evil. He is my son. He is a part of me. I can't change that.
Ridge: No. No, you can't, can you? That's why I'm moving out.
Jackie: Gentlemen, why don't you take a seat? (Whispering) Where the devil is Nicky?
Owen: Well, I can take some notes for him if you want.
Jackie: (Sighs) That's a good idea. Just don't distract me.
Owen: (Whispering) Hey, you better not distract me.
Jackie: (Normal voice) Uh, so this is Owen Knight, gentlemen, and he's our chief of staff, and he's going to be filling in for Nick, who has been taken away on some last-minute business. I hope that won't be a problem.
Man: (Chuckles) Why should it be? Nick doesn't own the company. You do.
Stephanie: Taylor, you've got to take advantage of this moment.
Taylor: That's the beauty of it. I don't have to do a thing. I don't have to take advantage of anything. It just is.
Stephanie: But it sounds as though he's unraveling.
Taylor: Well, he knows that I'm there for him. He knows he can come to me. I'm telling you, last night was a huge breakthrough for us. When he looked in my eyes, I could tell that he was-- he was thinking that he finally could see a future with someone that didn't have to have pain in it.
Stephanie: A future with a woman who wants what's really best for him.
Brooke: What are you talking about? You're not moving out. We have children. We have a family.
Ridge: And I'm no damn good to any of them, Logan, not like this. This isn't gonna change.
Brooke: Well, we'll make it change, Ridge. You and I can do anything together. You know that.
Ridge: Look, you know what I'm going through. You've seen it firsthand-- the anxiety, the freak-outs. I'm haunted, Brooke. I close my eyes, and I see your son running up to me at Mother's house. "Ridge, come quick. Something's happened to Phoebe." My daughter is dead, and I live with those moments every day of my life.
Brooke: You're going to get over that, Ridge. I'll help you.
Ridge: You can't help me, Brooke. You can't help me and your son at the same time. I thought you could. God, I would go to the ends of the earth to preserve what we have. I love you so much. But I'm dying with you because of Rick. Call it a weakness, flaw in my character, whatever. I only know that he's poison to me, Brooke. I walk into this house, see his pictures around. The possibility that he would be walking in at any time, it makes me crazy. It sucks the life out of me. I didn't realize how much until last night. I felt good up in Big Bear. I was alive again. I felt the breeze on my face, the--hear the birds. I could smell that air. I need more of that.
Brooke: You were that happy because you were away from Rick and me?
Ridge: Don't you see that I can't separate the two of you anymore? Because you can't separate yourself from him. I know you can't leave your son. But it's making me physically ill. It's destroying me. I have to get away from it, Brooke. I have to get away from you.
Nick: Okay, okay. Okay, okay.
Bridget: (Sighs) God, that's not a bad way to start the morning.
Nick: Oh, yeah.
Bridget: You want to go for the hat trick?
Nick: Babe, work beckons.
Bridget: Oh, I thought I told you, you have the morning free.
Nick: I know, but Owen Knight doesnít.
Bridget: (Scoffs) Why don't you cut that guy a little bit of slack?
Nick: Because if I did that, I might not have a company left.
Bridget: Oh, he's doing a good job, and you know it. Plus, I have never seen your mother this happy.
Nick: Oh, yeah. She's got this young stud giving her all this attention, and I know he's taking her for a ride.
Bridget: She would be insulted if she heard you say that.
Nick: Well, then let's not tell her.
Jackie: Gentlemen, thank you so much for your time.
Man: Oh, one more question.
Man: Your estate planning. It needs to be updated, Jackie.
Jackie: Well, why? Nothing's changed. All my earthly belongings go to my son.
Man: What if you remarry?
Jackie: Oh, I don't think there's very much chance of that happening.
Man: No need to make any changes then.
Man: Have a good day, Jackie.
Jackie: Thank you. You, too. (Sighs)
Taylor: It's just so hard to believe.
Stephanie: I know. And a long time coming.
Taylor: You know what's different about this time? He kissed me, Stephanie. We were so close. We really connected. You know, I-I thought that-- for the last few years, I thought that we had lost that spark...
Taylor: But it was there. We found it. I know we're gonna be a family again, Stephanie. I know it. I know he's coming back to me.
Brooke: I can feel the pressure you're under. Let's just take a step backwards and look at this logically.
Ridge: Logic isn't really my strong suit right now.
Brooke: Let's agree on one thing-- how much we love each other.
Ridge: Brooke, that goes without saying.
Brooke: Well, we have to say it, and we have to feel it. Ridge, our love is strong, stronger than any of these problems that we've had to face. We're going to get through this.
Ridge: We've been trying to do that for months, Logan.
Brooke: Okay, so we'll keep on trying till we find an answer. You know how hard we had to fight Stephanie until she finally got the message. No one goes up against us and wins.
Ridge: Well, I'm afraid someone has-- your son.
Brooke: No, Ridge. He's given up. He's not fighting you anymore.
Ridge: He's using Steffy against me.
Brooke: That is your hatred talking. That's not the truth. And that's what's going to destroy you, not my son. You're gonna carry that hatred with you, and it's gonna eat you up, whether we're together or not. Please, let me just take your hand... (Sighs) and lead you to the other side. You're going to find laughter and love in life-- I promise you that-- just like you felt up at Big Bear last night. But don't leave me. Don't take your anger and walk out that door. We're not going to end it this way.
Brooke: I'm not gonna let you go. We're going to stay together.
