Katie: Nick, are you downstairs?
Katie: Everything okay?
Nick: Yeah. No, I just have so much on my mind with work and everything. I got to head over there.
Katie: Really? Now?
Nick: Yeah. Yeah, I won't be late.
Katie: I'll wait up.
Bill: Come on. Work with me here.
Donna: You actually think that I would hook up with you to stop Stephanie from spewing her poison? You're out of your mind.
Donna: Hi. (Sighs) Hi.
Eric: Look at you. You look beautiful.
Donna: (Sighs) Well, then, um, show me off. (Laughs)
Donna: Why don't-- why don't we cancel the dinner with Bill, and you and I go out on the town?
Eric: Oh, would I love to do that. No, this is too important tonight. Bill Spencer controls the fashion press. We need to do everything we possibly can to get his support. (Knocking on door)
Eric: Here he is.
Eric: Hello, Bill. Come in.
Bill: I appreciate the invitation, Eric.
Eric: Sure. You know my wife.
Bill: Yes, I do. And I'm looking forward to knowing her better.
Jackie: What do you think we should do tonight?
Owen: Well, tonight is not good for me.
Owen: 'Cause I got a date with Bridget, and it's gonna happen whether you or your son like it or not.
Jackie: Did Nicky actually say something to you about Bridget?
Owen: Look, Nicky needs to remember who he's engaged to.
Jackie: (Laughs) Oh, darling, in this town, engagements are a dime a dozen. I seriously doubt that Katie will ever trade in that darling diamond for a wedding band.
Katie: I just thought that it would get easier, that we'd get past this.
Brooke: Is this about Nick?
Katie: I just can't do this anymore.
Brooke: What are you talking about?
Katie: I'm leaving him.
Bridget: I thought you left.
Nick: I did, but I'm back. Is this for me?
Nick: You're resigning?
Bridget: Well, I did what I came here to do, and I've proven myself as a designer.
Nick: This isn't about design.
Bridget: I-I can't do this, Nick. I-I can't be here. My stomach was just in knots coming up the elevator. (Sniffles) Damn it, why did you kiss me? Why would you do that?
Eric: So what do we drink to?
Bill: New friends.
Eric: New friends? Well, we've hardly gotten off to an auspicious beginning, have we?
Bill: "The Logan Chronicles." It's just business, Eric.
Eric: No, it's not, Bill. My ex-wife is angry and bitter, and she's hell-bent on revenge. And she's waging all-out war on the internet and in the pages of your magazine.
Bill: And I'm profiting nicely.
Eric: Yeah, well, it's not right. I want it to stop.
Bill: You'd like to discuss other options. As a matter of fact, that's why I'm here. Oh, and to show you this.
Bill: The latest issue of "Eye on Fashion"-- special edition.
Eric: "The Downfall of Forrester Creations"? Why are you doing this?
Bill: That is the question-- "why?" What happened to the company my readers know and love? They want to know, Eric, and by the end of next week, they can run down to their local newsstand and find out, unless, of course, we come to some arrangement.
Eric: So you want something. What do you want?
Bill: Something almost as precious to you as your reputation.
Donna: Eric, please just tell him to leave. Give this to our lawyers and let them handle it.
Bill: You know, it's quite simple, really. It's a trade. Something you've got is something I want.
Eric: $100 million? You want me to give you $100 million?
Bill: No, of course not, Eric. That's what I'm going give you for Forrester Creations.
Owen: So if Nick is still hung up on Bridget, then what's he doing with Katie?
Jackie: (Laughs) Soothing his conscience?
Owen: What, it's not love?
Jackie: Not like he had with Bridget, and Katie knows it.
Katie: Brooke, come on. You can't be surprised. If Nick wanted to get married, we'd be married by now.
Brooke: Did you two get in a fight?
Brooke: Did you talk to him about this?
Katie: He would never walk away from me no matter how much he wants to be with someone else.
Brooke: If this is about Bridget--
Katie: This is about me. It's about what I'm willing to live with.
Katie: He's not over her, Brooke, and if they find their way back to each other, I'm not gonna stand in their way.
Bridget: Tell me. Tell me why. Why would you kiss me?
Nick: I don't know.
Bridget: You just couldn't help yourself? Gave into an impulse?
Nick: I'm not sorry I did it. I don't want you to resign.
Bridget: How can I stay here, Nick? I came here to start over and launch a new career. I even have a new man in my life. And then you come up and kiss me, and all of those memories come flooding back.
Nick: Tell me about those memories. What are they of? Of me and you and Jack?
Bridget: Will you stop, please?
Nick: I-It's all I can think about. I can't get it out of my head.
Bridget: Well, what about Katie?
Nick: I don't know.
Bridget: I know. I know exactly where this is going-- nowhere, because it canít. I mean, look, we have been married twice. We have done this, and it doesn't work. I'm--I'm just done. I'm going to move on with Owen.
Nick: Owen? Oh, my God, the-- you don't even know the guy. I mean, you've-- what, you've been on a-a couple dates with him?
Bridget: Yeah, and they both ended badly because of you, because of this. This-- look, he has been patient with me and understanding, and he didn't want to push me, but maybe that's what I need. I need to be pushed. Maybe the-- maybe this is it. This is it, Nick. Tonight, I am putting you behind me once and for all.
Donna: I don't understand.
Eric: You want my company. That's why you're trying to drive down the value.
Bill: I'd take my first offer if I were you. If I have to ask again, it will be less.
Eric: Wait, is this why you came to L.A., to get your hands on Forrester Creations?
Bill: Business 101. Every person, every company has a weakness. Find it, exploit it, you win. Now it's not always this easy, of course. Looking at your beautiful wife, I can understand how you got distracted. You took your eye off the ball. She took your company. Now she's sitting on the throne next to Ridge, and her sister is cozied up next to you. You know, it's a wonder any work gets done in that office at all with these Logan minxes prowling around.
Eric: All right, that's enough. You get out of my house.
Nick: I'm sorry. What I did was inappropriate. I crossed the line.
Bridget: I don't want an apology. I told you-- I'm finished.
Nick: If you were finished, you would have dropped that letter on my desk, and you would have walked out of here, but you didnít.
Bridget: Well, I'm leaving now.
Nick: And leaving to go to where?
Bridget: Oh, God.
Nick: To go to Owen?
Bridget: Owen is a good man, Nick. He cares about me. He knows what I've been through, and he knows that I deserve better.
Nick: And I think you deserve better, too, and I am ready to give you that. I will give you my best if you can give me one more chance. (Door opens)
Owen: Hey, there you are. You ready to go?
Bridget: Our dinner reservations. Right. Yeah.
Owen: Actually, change of plans. I ordered in. We'll pick it up, and, uh, you won't have to leave early like you did last time.
Bridget: Great. (Sniffles) (Sighs)
Brooke: This isn't a decision that you rush into.
Katie: It's something I should have done a long time ago.
Brooke: You say it's what Nick wants, but how do you know when you haven't even talked to him about it?
Katie: It's time that I accepted what I've done. I-I-I'm living a borrowed life. I'm in someone else's house. I have someone else's husband, someone else's child. Bridget invited me here, and I pushed her out.
Brooke: (Sighs) Bridget is happy now. She has a new career. She's moved on. Everything is fine.
Katie: No, she hasnít. Not really. None of us have. And we're all just pretending. We're going through the motions. Bridget's fine. I'm happy. Nick's where he wants to be. I mean, this is just all so messed up, and there's only one way to fix it.
Brooke: Stop, please. I don't know what happened, but I'm not gonna let you beat yourself up like this.
Katie: I'm not beating myself up. I'm trying to be honest with myself. I'm living Bridgetís life, and if she wants it back, she can have it, all of it. Nick, Jack-- they're not mine. They never really were.
Eric: Who the hell do you think you are?
Bill: The next C.E.O. of Forrester Creations.
Eric: You know, ten years ago, you were nobody. Your father dug you up, and he gave you a chance with that company. And now you show up here sniffin' around my company?
Bill: And in that ten years, I made Spencer Publications what it is today, and all the while, putting up with that stubborn son of a bitch, working side by side with one of the meanest, most perverted men I've ever known.
Donna: You're a real chip off the old block.
Bill: Mm, well, you know, my father never gave anybody second chances. I'm giving you one right now.
Eric: You're wasting your breath, Bill.
Bill: A little late in the game to be growing a backbone, Eric.
Eric: I went toe to toe with your father.
Bill: Hmm. You know, my father knew he was dying. Did he want me by his side? No. He told me to get back to work, and I did. You sure you want to call my bluff? (Cell phone rings)
Bill: Better get that. It might be one of your former clients. (Ring)
Eric: Forrester. Yes, William. Yes, of course I have time for you. Don't be here when I get back. Yeah? I think so.
Donna: You heard Eric. Leave.
Bill: My offer still stands. One night with me, and I'll leave your husband and his company alone. Of course, once you've been with me, you'll probably leave him, too.
Donna: Get out.
Bill: You could be the heroine in this story. Think about it.
Donna: (Sighs) (Door closes)
Katie: (Thinking) "Dear Nick, this is the hardest letter I've ever had to write."
Jackie: Oh, Nicky, I thought you went home.
Nick: I did for a bit.
Jackie: Oh. Did you have an argument with Katie?
Jackie: With Bridget? You know, she's with Owen.
Nick: Yes, I do.
Jackie: That upsets you.
Nick: I shouldn't have let her leave, Mother.
Jackie: Leave w-with Owen?
Nick: No, the marriage. I should have-- I shouldn't have let her walk away from the marriage. She's moving on. I-I truly try to respect that. I really do. And I do try to hang on to what I have with Katie, but there is a shadow hanging over this relationship. Mother, I swear there is, and it's called Bridget. And I know it, and Katie knows it. (Sighs) And I have to be honest with myself. Can I give Bridget what she wants? Can I give her what she needs?
Jackie: Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes. That's what I've been telling you.
Nick: (Sighs) I asked her to give me a second chance...
Nick: And she left with Owen.
Jackie: She heard you. I-I know she heard you.
Nick: Oh, there's been so much confusion in my life, Mother. I mean, really. I didn't even know who my father was until five years ago. How the hell am I gonna know who I am? And that's played out in every relationship that I have had, but I'm feeling better. (Chuckles) You know, I don't want to sound all therapeutic here, but I really sort of kind of know myself. You know, I know what I want. I know what I'm feeling. I know who I am. And I know what I need. And in my truth, I really believe that I need Bridget. (Sighs) But she's scared. I know that she loves me, but she's scared to death. And how the hell can you blame her? I understand. (Sighs) But I really believe...
Nick: I have a son. And I know that I can be the man that she deserves. I know that I can be the man that she wants. I just don't know how to go about doing it. So I look to you as my mother. Help me here. Help me to get her back. Help me to get her back where she belongs.
