Brooke: Hi. (Sighs)
Brooke: I think we both need a break from all this drama.
Ridge: I couldn't agree more.
Brooke: Mm, you're so tense.
Ridge: Well, it's tense times.
Brooke: Well, you don't have to be. You could have a little faith.
Ridge: In what?
Brooke: Rick. Steffy. Give them a chance, Ridge.
Ridge: No, Brooke.
Ridge: I'm not gonna give them a chance. This wedding cannot happen. Period.
Stephanie: No, I just left Ridge a message. Yeah, I want to see you and Thorne for lunch. Oh, you want to go there? It seems like I've been there every day this week. (Laughs) I'll tell you when I see you. All right. Bye now.
Nick: You're filling the kids in on the news?
Stephanie: (Sighs) Yes. Uh, it's gonna be interesting to see how they react to this.
Nick: Shock, disbelief-- pretty much the same thing I'm feeling.
Stephanie: Uh, too late. I've already signed. And I'm really thrilled.
Jackie: (Scoffs) What--what are you doing?
Owen: What does it look like I'm doing?
Jackie: I-I-I didn't wish for you to take your clothes off.
Owen: "If you want to see me with my clothes off, then yours are gonna have to come off first." Aren't those your exact words?
Jackie: (Laughs) That doesn't constitute a wish.
Owen: Okay. Well, then, call this a challenge, and I'm rising to the challenge.
Taylor: Thank you for meeting me. I'm sure you know why I want to see you.
Rick: Right. You're here to give me my wedding present.
Rick: Taylor, Tay--I'm kidding, okay? Just relax. It could be a lot worse.
Taylor: No. (Sighs) Rick, actually, they can't be a lot worse. And maybe someday when you have a daughter, and she's determined to marry a man who doesn't really love her, you'll understand.
Rick: Ouch. Thank you.
Taylor: It's the truth, Rick, and you know it.
Taylor: Can't you just be honest with yourself? I-- (scoffs) are you capable of that?
Rick: Taylor, do-- why are we carrying on this way, especially when you have so much to gain from this situation?
Taylor: Well, no. I'm more aware of what you have to gain-- maybe a little payback for me, a little revenge for Ridge. Either way, you kill two birds with one stone. (Sighs) And we both lose another daughter.
Rick: Taylor, you're not gonna lose another daughter. You're not gonna lose Steffy. I swear to you. In fact, if this whole thing plays out like I know it will, you're gonna win Ridge back.
Ridge: You and I need to get straight about something. I am never gonna change my mind about this wedding. There's nothing you can say, nothing you can do to turn me around on that.
Brooke: So your promise to stop fighting this and accept Rick and Steffy?
Ridge: I have to break that promise.
Ridge: I'm sorry. I never should have made that in the first place.
Brooke: Why? What happened?
Ridge: Well, let's see. Maybe it's Rickís choice of wedding venue...
Ridge: The very same spot on the beach where you and I celebrated what turns out to be his most hated function in his life, our own wedding. Or maybe it's the fact that he's always in my face gloating about his relationship with Steffy, throwing that in my face, only when we're alone, by the way.
Brooke: I'm sure you're overstating it a bit. (Sighs)
Ridge: No, Brooke. Actually, I'm not. Hopefully, someday you'll see that. Or maybe it's the meeting Taylor and I had with Thomas today, our son who was forced to live in a rehab. Why? Because of his anger. Well, Thomas is not by nature an angry kid, but Rick brought that out of him. He's brought it out of a lot of people lately. So don't ever expect me to accept Rick marrying my daughter, Brooke. What I do expect is for you to finally take off these blinders you have on about your son and realize how destructive and manipulative and dangerous he is and help me stop this from happening.
Nick: Well, I can't remember the last time we had a written agenda for a meeting. (Laughs)
Stephanie: Hmm. I find they're quite useful. So is your mother around? Because we could start.
Nick: Uh, I don't know where she went.
Jackie: Do you feel better now? Are--are you more comfortable?
Owen: Your turn.
Jackie: (Chuckles) We have work to do, Owen.
Owen: Come on. You got to be kidding me.
Jackie: No, I'm deadly serious.
Owen: So what? You're just gonna leave me standing here feeling like a fool?
Jackie: Oh, no. I mean, God, you are a gorgeous young man. We have to protect that masculinity.
Owen: And you're a beautiful woman. You're very hard to resist.
Jackie: Yeah. Very hard to resist.
Owen: Then donít.
Jackie: Okay. (Sighs) There. We have got work to do.
Owen: What, are you still questioning my motives?
Jackie: Oh, your motives are not as important to me as you may think. What you may hope to gain out of this, well... (chuckles) let's just say it's what I gain that matters to me.
Owen: Sounds to me like we're on the same page.
Stephanie: Do we really have to wait? Don't you think it would be all right to start this without your mother?
Nick: Oh, just relax. She's probably on her way.
Stephanie: How about we call her, find out exactly where she is, and then we can decide what to do?
Jackie: One of us has to show some self-control. Otherwise, well, we're in deep trouble.
Owen: Yuck. Self-control?
Jackie: Excuse me. Hello?
Nick: Mother? Did you forget about our meeting?
Jackie: Oh, the meeting. Yes, it--it did slip my mind.
Stephanie: No wonder this company's in dire straits.
Jackie: I just needed some bed rest.
Nick: Are you feeling sick?
Jackie: No, just a little flushed.
Nick: Can I bring you something?
Jackie: No, I have everything I need right in front of me.
Stephanie: Put her on speakerphone. Let's just go ahead with the meeting this way.
Nick: Hold on, Mother.
Rick: Think about it, Taylor. You know where this is heading. My mom and Ridge-- they're fighting like pit bulls over this. Their marriage is not gonna last.
Rick: You should be thanking me for marrying your daughter.
Taylor: I-I can't even believe you're saying this to me. I-I don't even think I know who you are. I don't know this person sitting in front of me. What happened to you when you were growing up that it's turned you like this?
Rick: You want to know what happened to me? I loved you. I loved you more than you can possibly imagine. And then one day you dumped me out of the blue, without warning. You dumped me for Ridge. For Ridge. Ridge. Ridge. Ri-- I-I hate that name. That man drives me insane. Everything that's meant anything to me in my life has been taken, has been lost, because of that man. And I'm not gonna put up with it anymore. It's my turn. It's payback time.
Stephanie: So we're agreed. Uh, we'll, um, we'll preview Bridgetís designs tomorrow.
Jackie: Oh. A-agreed. Agreed.
Stephanie: Great. Okay, then, let's talk about, um, well, I had this idea. I wondered-- I thought it might be good to partner with the Los Angeles Academy of Fashion Design. We could run a competition. I mean, we'd get great press. Jarrett would run a great story.
Jackie: (Groans) That feels good.
Nick: That, too. No, no, because then, uh, first prize could be the showstopper for one of our collections.
Jackie: Mnh-mnh-mnh. A-a little too much pressure.
Stephanie: You think it would be too much pressure on a young student?
Jackie: Wh--what? Oh, no. I-I suppose not.
Nick: The emphasis has got to be on innovation.
Stephanie: Oh, absolutely. But I think we need something a little more, um--
Jackie: Naughty, naughty.
Stephanie: Uh, well... (laughs) I suppose that's one way of putting it. (Laughs) I mean, our demographic, our target audience is young and upwardly mobile. Um, yeah, uh, I-I'm--I'm fine. This is enough for me if it's okay with you. We don't have to continue.
Jackie: Please, don't stop.
Stephanie: You-- you don't want to stop? I thought you didn't feel well, Jackie.
Jackie: Oh, I'm-- I'm feeing better every minute.
Stephanie: Oh, well, great. Uh, let's talk about marketing then. Um, I think we're gonna have to revamp the entire campaign for print ads. We really want to do something sassy and sexy.
Jackie: Sexy, yes.
Stephanie: Uh, yes, uh, something sexy, but, um, Jackie, I have something to tell you I don't think you're going to be happy about. In my opinion, we should really revamp your entire P.R. Department.
Jackie: Oh, yes. Yes.
Stephanie: You agree?
Jackie: Yes. Yes.
Stephanie: Well, great. This is wonderful. Okay. We'll get on it right away.
Nick: Okay, then, uh, guess we're finished here. Mother, you-- are you all right?
Jackie: Actually, I-- I can feel something coming on. I have to go.
Nick: Oh. Okay. Well, take care of yourself.
Stephanie: You think she's coming down with the flu?
Nick: Uh, something.
Taylor: You just admitted that this is all about striking back at Ridge.
Rick: No, no, no. Listen to me, okay? I-I love your daughter. Getting back at Ridge is just a-a fringe benefit.
Taylor: That is so wrong. It's wrong, Rick. Please think about it. Please.
Rick: Steffy and I are getting married, Taylor. There's nothing you can do about that. It's a done deal. So you have two choices. Number one, you can accept my impending marriage to your daughter and look forward to the inevitable day that you and "Ridge-iculous" get back together again. Or, number two, you can not accept anything and just be miserable. Either way, you still end up with Ridge.
Brooke: Ridge, I don't want to talk about Rick and Steffy. I just want to talk about us...
Brooke: Everything that we mean to each other. No problem will ever come between us.
Brooke: We can overcome anything.
Brooke: Just don't let anything get in the way of us. Hmm?
Ridge: Oh, Brooke. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I canít.
Ridge: (Sighs) Because of your son, and what he's doing to my daughter. Oh, my God, he's finally invaded our own bedroom. It's-- he's finally coming between us in here, too.
Stephanie: I'm sorry that Ridge couldn't join us, um, but I just didn't want to wait any longer to talk to the two of you. Thank you.
Thorne: So what's going on, Mom?
Stephanie: Well, uh... (sighs) your mother went out and got a job.
Thorne: Yeah, right. What, flipping burgers at a burger stand?
Felicia: Oh, my God. You're serious, aren't you?
Stephanie: "Flipping burgers at a burger stand"? Now I know why we kept you in shipping all those years.
Thorne: Yeah. You know I'm kidding.
Stephanie: I know. Well... (sighs) I wanted you to hear it from me first. It's gonna be in the press tomorrow. I, um, I'm going over to Jackie M.'s.
Felicia: Jackie M.?
Thorne: You hate her, Mother, and you like her son even less.
Stephanie: Well, I know it's a little bizarre, and as a matter of fact, he offered me the job, and the first time, I turned it down.
Felicia: Why did he offer you the job?
Stephanie: (Laughing) Well, I'd like to think because I have certain connections and experience, and, uh... (sighs) they value that.
Felicia: And dad obviously doesnít.
Stephanie: Well, he fired me. It's nice to be needed.
Felicia: Oh, my God. You're gonna be the competition.
Stephanie: Well, apparently so.
Thorne: Have you told dad about this?
Stephanie: No. He's gonna find it out in the press tomorrow.
Thorne: Oh, ho ho. This is going to blow him away.
Taylor: (Sighs) (groans)
(knocking on door)
Ridge: It's me, Doc.
Ridge: I realized something very important. I made a terrible mistake leaving you. I want you back. I want our family back.
Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, no. (Scoffs) We'll get through this. We always have.
Ridge: Logan, we've never had a problem like this.
Brooke: (Sighs) You're under a lot of pressure and a lot of stress.
Ridge: No, Brooke, this is not pressure and stress. It's your son. He's tearing us apart.
Brooke: Please, stop saying that.
Ridge: Logan, we've always been able to close out the world, to lose our self in each other, but this is different than anything we've ever had to face.
Brooke: You're asking me to go up against my son.
Ridge: No, I'm not asking. I'm insisting. I'm telling you that he is poison to my daughter. He's poison to me, to all of us. I hate him.
Brooke: Don't say that. You can't hate him.
Ridge: How can I not? How can I not, Brooke? Don't you see what's happening here? I feel like I'm just living in fear that he's going to take away my other daughter from me, and he will. I'm also afraid he's gonna take you away from me.
Ridge: Logan, you have to see what's going on here. You've got to finally take these blinders off and realize this kid is destroying us. He's invading our personal life to such an extent that I-- I don't know how we're gonna get through this.
Ridge: You've got to help me. I need your help.
Ridge: Stop this kid from doing this before it destroys us, too.
Ridge: Please, Logan. Please.
