Eric: It has to be this way. I'm sorry.
Stephanie: No, you're not.
Eric: I moved on with my life.
Stephanie: Yes, I know, and I haven't, and I wish I had. I wish I had a beautiful young boy on my arm.
Eric: Well, it doesn't have to be ugly.
Stephanie: Honey, it is ugly. This was about commitment-- "till death us do part." This was about the bond we shared, the children we raised, the company that we built with our bare hands, and about the fact that I loved you more than I loved life itself.
Stephanie: And now you've tossed me away with reckless abandon.
Eric: I didnít.
Stephanie: Yes, you did, only now it's official. You have Donna to share your life with you and the spotlight and all the rest of those Logans running around here, and the name of Stephanie Forrester will just be buried with all the rest of the relics.
Stephanie: Good-bye, Eric.
Stephanie: Well, uh, I, uh, are you applauding because I'm leaving?
Rocco: No, we love you.
Madison: No, you're amazing.
Stephanie: I guess no, uh, no quiet getaway here, I guess.
Thorne: No, Mother, no quiet getaway.
Felicia: You didn't think you were gonna sneak out of here without saying good-bye?
Jackie: Oh. (Chuckles) Owen...
Jackie: Uh, this is my son Nick Marone.
Owen: It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Marone, and I'm really happy to be here.
Nick: You know what you're doing?
Owen: Uh, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, I do, and I'm gonna give you everything I've got.
Nick: Mother, does he know about Bridget?
Owen: About her being Madame X? Don't worry, your secret is safe with me.
Jackie: It's hardly a secret anymore anyway, is it?
Owen: Look, yes, I used to work at Forrester, but "no comment" is my middle name.
Nick: No comment. Tell me about your time over there at Forrester.
Owen: Well, uh, what do you want to know?
Nick: I want to know everything. I want to know about the power structure. I want to know its strengths, its weaknesses, and I want to know how Stephanie fits into all of it.
Thorne: We're, uh, we're all here for you, Mom.
Madison: You are an inspiration to us.
Thorne: Amen to that.
Stephanie: Well, thank you very much, but, you know, this really isn't necessary. I can find my way to the parking lot.
Ridge: No, Mother, it is necessary. Nobody is more important to this company than the people that work here.
Felicia: Most of us, anyway.
Jake: We can't convince you to stay, Mrs. F.?
Stephanie: No, Jake, thanks. Time to go.
Rocco: No, it's--it's too soon.
Felicia: I agree.
Stephanie: Well, thanks for the sentiment. And thank you very much, all of you, for, uh, the respect and the support that you have given me all these years. It means a lot to me. It really does, but it's time to go.
Felicia: Then I'm going with you.
Owen: Well, how do I describe my time at Forrester? I'd say, uh, very tense, a lot of arguments.
Nick: Arguments? Maybe arguing makes some people think they have power.
Owen: Maybe, but they donít.
Nick: Who does, then? Who has the real power at Forrester?
Owen: Actually, Stephanie does.
Nick: Even though Eric and Ridge are the designers?
Owen: Yeah, they're both very important. So is Brooke, but when you say the name "Forrester," who do you think of? You think of Stephanie. Everybody looks up to her. From the clients to buyers to the employees, her presence is felt on every single level of that company. So if you're asking me, Stephanie is, by far, the most valuable asset.
Stephanie: Felicia, I know you're upset.
Thorne: You know what, Mother? If you're leaving, I'm leaving, too.
Brooke: Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
Donna: We'd better get her out of here before she starts a mutiny.
Stephanie: No one is leaving here except me.
Felicia: Mother, Forrester needs you.
Thorne: You belong here. You founded this place.
Stephanie: Stop, stop, stop. I am sad to leave, all right? But I would be sadder still if I saw this place, this company and this family all torn apart. I don't want that, all right?
Stephanie: Now I want you to do me a favor, all of you, and to do a favor for yourselves and your families and just stay here and continue to do the excellent work that you've always done, and know that I am-- been very proud to have been associated with all of you.
Stephanie: Well, I'm leaving this company in good hands, people who have been dedicated all these years to the same things, I think, that we all wanted, which is, um, to set a standard of excellence, and we have done that. The company is going down a different road than what we had first envisioned, but that's--that's all right. It's going to be all right.
Brooke: The company has a bright future, and your children will be a major part of it.
Stephanie: I'm counting on that, Brooke. I'm counting on the three of them staying right here and working hard with all of you, and I know the company will remain, and it will flourish. I'm standing here looking at all these familiar faces and thinking about how much we've really achieved, how extraordinary it is. And I remember, um, quite a few of you started here when you were young, and you got married, and you raised your families, and you sent your children to, um, college. Some--some of those children were the first in your families to go, and you know, now that I think about it, I'm prouder of that than any collection that we've ever turned out. Thank you for sharing your lives with me.
Stephanie: Be good. Come here. Work hard.
Owen: Stephanie's bigger power is her relationship to her employees. It's remarkable. She knows everyone's name-- the spouses, their children, from the most respected sewer to the night's cleaning crew. If there's ever a problem, they will come to her.
Jackie: Manipulator, or mother hen?
Owen: She'll do anything for her employees, and her employees will do anything for her. With loyalty like that, Forrester--it can survive almost any crisis.
Woman: I'll never forget what you did when my son was sick.
Stephanie: You're welcome. Believe me.
Woman: (Sobs) I'll miss you so much.
Eric: I should say something to acknowledge her contribution.
Ridge: I know you mean well, but this is mother's moment. Just let her have it.
(Elevator bell dings)
Stephanie: Always remember the grace and dignity that set Forrester apart. Don't let those ideals fade away.
Nick: So... you got a taste of Stephanieís soft side.
Owen: Well, not that I saw much of it, but yeah. The people think that Ridge and Brooke are the face of Forrester, but Stephanie is definitely that company's heart.
Jackie: Oh, here. (Laughs) Know thy enemy.
Nick: "The history of Forrester creations."
Jackie: Mm-hmm. If you want to know what's going on over there, then you have to know how they got where they are.
Nick: Looks like I've got some reading to do.
Jackie: Oh, you're leaving?
Nick: Yeah. You and the new guy handle things today.
Woman: I'm looking for Jackie Marone.
Nick: Climb in.
Woman: Oh, thank you.
Jackie: You must be Gretchen Seagar.
Gretchen: It's a pleasure, Mrs. Marone.
Jackie: Oh, please. Jackie. This is Owen. Gretchen Seagar. She's my realtor.
Gretchen: Nice to meet you.
Owen: Nice to meet you.
Jackie: Do you have something for me?
Gretchen: A loft nearby. One of the most exclusive properties in the area.
Owen: Hey, this part of town's getting to be really hot. Got new restaurants, boutiques, gyms, spas, yoga studios.
Gretchen: There's a gym and salon on-site. A couple's membership is included in the building association dues.
Jackie: (Scoffs) Couples?
Owen: Oh, you know what they say, honey. "A couple that sweats together..." well, not that she needs to go to the gym. I mean, am I right?
Gretchen: (Laughs) Well, if you're free, you should come with us.
Owen: Yeah, you know what? Sounds like a good idea. Now is about the time that we usually sneak out of the office for a few hours. Might be kind of fun to see what it's like to do it with our clothes on for a change.
Felicia: Somebody, please tell me this is a joke. You and mom get in a fight, and suddenly, she's never coming back?
Brooke: The company won't be the same without Stephanie.
Ridge: No, it wonít.
Thorne: If she would have asked any of those people to leave, most of them would have.
Felicia: That's right. Good thing she was feeling so magnanimous. If it were me, this building would be a ghost town.
Donna: What about Eric here? I mean, he is the owner of the company.
Eric: And the company can only have one vision. Your mother did not agree with mine.
Donna: Or your choice of a wife--me. I mean, that is what's really going on here. And you know what? If--if she's uncomfortable with me being here, it's best that she left.
Felicia: If you really care so much about my mother's feelings, you should have stayed at home.
Jackie: Wow. (Sighs) It is all right out there.
Gretchen: (Laughs) The whole city.
Jackie: (Gasps) Not much privacy.
Gretchen: That's security glass.
Gretchen: You can see out, no one can see in. It's also U.V. protected.
Owen: (Laughs) Come on, Gretchen, she's kidding. There's nothing shy about this woman. Look at her. You got it, you might as well flaunt it, right?
Owen: Okay, what's upstairs?
Gretchen: Rooftop patio.
Owen: Ooh. I am beginning to like this place even more and more. I'm gonna go check it out. (Claps hands)
Gretchen: (Laughs) You're a very lucky woman.
Jackie: (Laughs) How one would like to think so.
Gretchen: Oh, he's very enthusiastic.
Jackie: Oh, yeah. He's enjoying himself.
Jackie: I'm not sure I share the sentiment.
Gretchen: You're not impressed.
Owen: Hey, Gretchen, would you mind giving us a moment alone, please?
Jackie: You're awful.
Owen: Oh, come on. I'm just having fun.
Jackie: Mm-hmm, at that poor woman's expense. I mean, she really thinks I'm gonna buy this place.
Owen: Well, I think you should.
Owen: Come on. Okay, fine. You know what? It needs a little bit of work-- you know, get some shag carpeting in here, a little dance pole and maybe a trapeze right over there. And definitely, we need to soundproof that bedroom. We don't want our poor neighbors to be growing--turning green with envy, do we? (Laughs)
Eric: All right, everybody needs to just calm down here.
Donna: You cannot let her talk to me that way.
Felicia: Oh, what, you want him to fire me, too?
Eric: Nobody else is getting fired. Nobody else is leaving the company.
Thorne: Only because mom asked us to stay.
Eric: (Sighs) Look, you're being loyal to your mother. I get that. You feel that she's been mistreated. I will never minimize the contributions that she's made to the company.
Ridge: Well, if she was so valuable, why send her away?
Eric: Because the friction would have become unbearable.
Felicia: Right, because we've done such a great job of keeping things purely professional around here.
Eric: (Sighs) It had reached an untenable point. Something had to be done.
Ridge: Look, you heard what mother said before she left. This company means the world to her. This Forrester Creations is just an extension of our family, Dad.
Felicia: What's she supposed to do now?
Thorne: Did you see the look in her eyes when she got on the elevator, Dad? It was vacant. There's nothing there. Now you can try to justify this all you want, but I am worried about her.
Owen: And all joking aside, this place is great. It's right down the street from Jackie M. It's perfect for you.
Jackie: In spite of what you've made that realtor believe, you are not going to be living here, and neither am I.
Owen: Come on, Jackie. You can't tell me that you don't feel the energy in this place.
Jackie: Well, of course I do. It's the energy of people just starting out in life, getting that first buzz and excitement of success. That's not where I am.
Owen: So you're telling me that you're not totally psyched about Jackie M.?
Owen: You're looking towards your future, looking to make your mark? You are much more like these people than you realize.
Owen: Come on. Why do you think that Gretchen picked this loft for you?
Jackie: Owen, she--
Owen: It's because she thinks that it is perfect for you.
Jackie: She thinks I am a-- oh, God. What's that expression? A cougar. Older woman, younger man. (Sighs)
Owen: No, she picked this loft out for you before she ever met me.
Gretchen: (Clears throat) So what's the verdict? Have you made a decision?
Jackie: I'm sorry, Gretchen. It's not for me.
Felicia: Oh, don't let "Ms. Silicone" fool you. Mom's not okay with this.
Donna: Oh, please. We are not talking about some thin-skinned little waif here. We're talking about Stephanie.
Thorne: You know what? Don't you say another word about my mother. If it wasn't for your skinny little waif butt, she'd still be here.
Felicia: Daddy, have you forgotten what happened when you first married Donna?
Felicia: Mom went into a tailspin. She could hardly get out of bed.
Eric: She was depressed, and she pulled out of it.
Ridge: When you got sick, she did.
Felicia: Taking care of you brought her back, and then she brought you back. And when you came back to the family, we all thought you'd come to your senses, but you chose her instead.
Eric: Your mother handled that with uncommon grace and dignity. She was not devastated.
Felicia: Until now.
Eric: Stephanie will be all right. She just needs a little time. There's no one more resilient.
Stephanie: (Thinking) so many years ago... and right here, right at this very spot...
Eric: Stephanie, here, give me your hand. You shouldn't be out on the rocks in your condition.
Stephanie: (Laughs) I'm not an invalid. I'm just pregnant.
Eric: You're-- you're carrying my first child. I don't want anything to happen to either one of you.
Stephanie: Oh, God, California is so beautiful.
Eric: Mm, I think we're gonna be so happy here.
Stephanie: It's a little scary, though, don't you think? Leaving our families?
Eric: We'll create our own family. We'll start our business. We'll--we'll build a legacy for this child and all of the other children we'll have someday.
Stephanie: I don't think I realized how ambitious you were, Mr. Forrester.
Eric: You make me want to do great things.
Stephanie: Our company's gonna be great.
Eric: You know, we can't keep calling it "the company." It needs a name.
Stephanie: You're right. How about, um, how about Forrester Creations?
Eric: I love it. I love you.
Stephanie: (Thinking) God, we had it all, and now it's gone. (Sighs) And now I'm alone. I'm all alone.
