Ridge: Pull it out of the vault. Have it steamed and cleaned. Check all the measurements, and then have it delivered to me. All right. Thank you.
(Knocking on door)
Taylor: Did I hear you right that Rick is going to keep quiet about Thomas?
Taylor: Thank God. (Laughs)
Ridge: Oh, I wouldn't thank Him that quickly. Rick is also demanding that we accept his relationship with our daughter. No more fighting about it. His silence in exchange for our lovely Steffy.
Taylor: I knew this was too good to be true.
Ridge: It's the only thing I could do, Doc. It's the only way to protect Thomas.
Taylor: So, great. Then Rick is still holding all the cards?
Ridge: I don't think this is even about Steffy now. I think it's about revenge. He's more in love with getting back at me than he is with our daughter.
Taylor: Do you really even believe he would keep up his end of the bargain?
Ridge: As long as I don't fight him about Steffy. He loves having that power over me.
Taylor: Yeah, but, Ridge, this isn't over. The whole family thinks that Rick is still in danger.
Ridge: Yeah, well, he's called the family together. There are gonna be a lot of questions, but I have no idea what he intends to tell them. Nobody knows what the hell Rickís gonna do next.
Donna: This is not good news.
Katie: Well, Pamís free.
Donna: And you're relieved?
Bridget: Donna, the police would not have released her if they thought she was involved.
Donna: No. No, they just didn't have enough evidence to hold her.
Eric: Look, dear, Pam did not attack Rick.
Donna: Then who? Then who? If it wasn't Pam, the person is still out there, maybe--maybe right here in this building.
Eric: Well, that's why I put a 24-hour bodyguard on Rick to protect him and everybody he's close to, especially Steffy.
Steffy: You didn't believe me. But I knew Rick is a good man. Well, he's not going after Thomas, and he doesn't want revenge.
Ridge: Look, Rickís kept his mouth shut so far. But that does not mean your brother's safe. Not yet.
Rick: We don't need that guy out there anymore.
Brooke: Thank you. (Sighs)
Rick: Well, your husband's the one who should be thanking me. I'm saving his kid's butt.
Brooke: Well, maybe he's repaying you by staying out of your way.
Rick: Well, that was the deal. He gets Thomas' freedom, and I get whatever I want. That is what Ridge said, right? What, so I'm the bad guy even though I'm-- I'm doing something good here?
Brooke: No, you made the right decision. Pressing charges against Thomas--
Brooke: Would have destroyed both of our families.
Rick: Well, now we have to convince people that I'm not in danger anymore. So maybe I do have to tell the truth.
Brooke: No one can know that Thomas was behind those attacks.
Rick: I'm not going to the police.
Brooke: Not the police. Not the family. No one.
Rick: Well, Dad is not gonna let those guards go without a damn good reason for it.
Brooke: You can't divulge this secret. You gave Ridge your word.
Brooke: And he gave you his. And whatever he promised, he will deliver. Now you have to do the same.
Rick: I'm not doing this for Ridge. I'm calling the shots now, Mom. And I'm doing what's best for me.
Thomas: It's gonna be okay, right?
Steffy: If Rick wanted to send you to jail, you'd already be there.
Thomas: Then why do I feel like I'm walking into an ambush here?
Taylor: We're all nervous.
Steffy: And you're paranoid.
Ridge: Steffy, Rick hates me. If history tells us anything--
Steffy: It should tell you to relax. Think about it. Thomas gave Rick all the ammunition he could ever need against you. He's not gonna use it.
Thomas: Yeah, until he wants something. Why didn't I keep my mouth shut? Instead, I gave myself up, and he can hang this over my head for the rest of my life.
Steffy: Thomas, he wants this behind him as much as you do.
Ridge: Yeah, we'll see.
Steffy: Yeah, you will. And when this "meeting" is over, you're all gonna see how wrong you are about him. (Scoffs)
Katie: Well, I've got another meeting. I can't stay.
Bridget: Oh, please. Rick will be here.
Eric: Look, he--he said it was important. (Door opens)
Rick: Morning, everybody. I know you're all very busy, so this won't take very long.
Bridget: What's going on, Rick?
Donna: Is this about Pamís release?
Rick: Look, you all have a lot of questions. I don't blame you. Uh, first off, I want to say that I-I appreciate the--the concern that you've all had over my safety, but that's all over now. Dad, you can call off the guards.
Eric: No, Rick. You're not safe.
Bridget: Whoever blew up your car is still out there.
Katie: Did Lieutenant Baker find something, a new lead?
Rick: No, he didn't, and that's my point. There's going to be nothing further to investigate.
Eric: You can't know that.
Rick: I do.
Bridget: You know who did this.
Eric: You do? Who is it?
Bridget: Did you tell Lieutenant Baker?
Rick: I'm not telling anybody.
Eric: Look, this person who did it--who--I want a name.
Rick: Look, they never intended to hurt me. They were just trying to send me a message. They weren't trying to kill me.
Bridget: Rick, my goodness. You were about to get in the car right when it blew up.
Eric: You were in the house when the house was set on fire.
Katie: That's one hell of a message.
Rick: Well, I'm trying to send a message, as well. Look, revenge is a vicious cycle, okay? You--you hurt somebody. They hurt you back, and then you hurt them again, and they hurt you more. It escalates, and nothing is ever solved. Believe me. I of all people should know that.
Eric: So you did something to this person?
Rick: Whatever issues we had in the past, let's just say that they've been rectified, okay?
Donna: Look, anyone could have been in that parking lot when the bomb went off. The police have questioned my son. If you know who did this, you've--you've got to turn them in.
Rick: Donna, I'm sorry. I'm not pressing any charges.
Katie: But Lieutenant Baker can continue the investigation without you.
Rick: Well, I am not going to help him. Folks, I'm sorry. This is all I have to say on this subject. If you were concerned about me or even Steffy, you don't have to be concerned about it anymore.
Katie: So that's it?
Bridget: This is absolutely crazy, Rick.
Brooke: Rick just doesn't want the situation to become worse.
Eric: Are you being threatened?
Steffy: Granddad, Rick is safe. You should be relieved. I know--I know I am.
Eric: Come here. Come here.
Eric: What are you doing?
Rick: (Whispering) I'm asking you to drop this.
Eric: I will not.
Rick: You--listen to me. Look at it this way. This was a mistake. It was an act of frustration, okay? Everybody has a line, and then you cross that line, and you do-- you start doing things you can't imagine, and people don't recognize you anymore. Believe me. I've done it more than once, but I'm not going to involve the police. I'm not gonna turn this into a circus, 'cause it's not gonna be good for anybody.
Eric: So--so this person gets away with it?
Rick: Well, let's just say that somebody did something like this for me once, and it made one hell of an impression. (Normal voice) Look, you're all just gonna have to trust me on this, all right? It's all over. I'm not afraid of what's gonna happen to me next. And despite everything that's happened, I'm actually very optimistic about the future. I hope all of you can feel the same.
Eric: Rick may not believe that he's in danger, but that doesn't mean that the danger doesn't still exist.
Brooke: He confronted his attacker. No harm was done.
Katie: Still, harm was intended, regardless of what Rick says.
Brooke: You really think he'd be that cavalier about his own life? Or Steffy's? I mean, regardless of what we all think about that relationship, he really does care for Steffy, and he doesn't want her to get hurt. He would never allow it. And nobody cares more about Rickís well-being than I do. And if he says it's fine, then I have to believe him. Really. (Laughs) He's safe. It's over.
Bridget: It's over?
Brooke: Yes. And I think Rick wants to move on. (Sighs) We really need to follow his lead and do the same.
Rick: Well, don't everybody thank me at once.
Steffy: Hey, Rick came through for you, Thomas.
Rick: You didn't think I'd be able to do it, did you?
Taylor: Well, how else were you going to convince everybody you were safe?
Rick: Oh, come on, Taylor. You're a psychiatrist. After weeks of high alert and stress and worry, people couldn't wait to stop feeling like that.
Ridge: You played them.
Rick: I gave them what they needed.
Ridge: But you felt like you had to have more, huh?
Rick: Yeah, a little gratitude would be so awesome right now.
Thomas: Well, I still think you're a-an arrogant jerk. You've caused nothing but pain for my family, and you are the wrong guy for my sister. But you saved my life today, so thanks.
Rick: Touching. You should put that on a greeting card.
Thomas: I went too far. My frustration took over, and it made me do things that I know were wrong. But that's not an excuse.
Rick: No, it doesn't really sound like an apology yet.
Thomas: No, it's not. But I owe you big time. And you, too, Steffy. You're not my baby sister anymore. You're old enough and smart enough to make your own choices. I'm sorry I let you down.
Steffy: Thomas. (Giggles)
Rick: (Clears throat)
Steffy: You're awesome.
Thomas: Okay if I get out of here?
Ridge: Yeah, go on. We'll see you later.
Ridge: It's gonna be okay.
Rick: That's up to you, Ridge. Thomas says he's not going to stand in our way. Are you?
Brooke: Rick is feeling hopeful, and so am I. You know, I can hardly remember the last time that our families were in the same room without coming to blows.
Katie: I don't know. Ridge was awfully quiet.
Donna: Taylor, too.
Bridget: Well, they had to have noticed the looks that Rick and Steffy were giving each other.
Brooke: Maybe they're starting to accept their relationship.
Bridget: Hmm. Have you?
Brooke: We all just want peace in this family.
Eric: Well, lately that has seemed too much to hope for.
Rick: Look, Thomas has made some mistakes. I have, too. I'm not gonna hold those mistakes against him. But right now, I think that I've proved to you how much I care, how much I love your daughter. I've proven my loyalty. I'm not out to get you. I'm not out to make your life miserable, Ridge. So what do you say? For the sake of this incredible woman-- truce?
Ridge: Thank you for saving my son.
Steffy: Okay, Dad, so this means Rick and I-- Dad, you're not-- you're not fighting us anymore, right? (Knocking on door)
Ridge: Oh, I think I can probably do better than that.
Man: The design you asked for, Mr. Forrester.
Ridge: Thank you. Perfect timing. Thank you, sir. Steffy, this is for you.
Steffy: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, Dad--Dad! (Gasps) It's a wedding gown. Oh.
Ridge: I have been working on this, uh, for years, about since you were born.
Steffy: (Whispering) Oh, my God.
Ridge: Styles have changed. I'd revise it. I'd wake up in the middle of the night with an idea, and by the morning, I'd have a whole new design. Anyway, it's been ongoing.
Steffy: (Gasps) Oh.
Ridge: And I've had this in the vault for quite a while now for you for your wedding day.
Steffy: Oh, my God, Dad. Dad, you're-- you--you are actually giving this to me now? (Giggles)
Ridge: Sweetheart, I feel like it's your choice to make. You've been fighting me. I've been fighting you. I just don't want this distance between us anymore. You're a young adult. You don't need my permission. So I just have to kind of rely on your best judgment now.
Steffy: (Laughs) Yeah. Oh, my God. I don't even, um-- I don't know what to say at all.
Ridge: Just promise me that you will think long and hard about what you want in your life and who you want to spend it with. Promise me that?
Rick: Well, I think she's already made that decision-- (Laughs)
Rick: Haven't you, Steffy?
Steffy: Dad. Dad, this is amazing. Oh, my God. Thank you. Thank you. This is amazing. Amazing.
Steffy: My--my dad is not fighting us anymore. Oh, my God.
Rick: I know. I know, and we've got some big plans for when we get married.
Ridge: Well, I'm gonna get this down-- downstairs, so the groom doesn't get a better look at it than he already has.
Steffy: Yeah. Oh!
Ridge: All right, Doc. (Sighs) Come on, let's go. Let's let these two celebrate.
Steffy: Mom. Oh.
Steffy: Oh, my God. This is like a dream! This is--this is a miracle. This is a miracle.
Steffy: Oh, my God.
Rick: I know.
Steffy: Oh, my God.
Rick: It is a miracle.
Taylor: Ridge, I-- what are you thinking? Why did you do that?
Ridge: Because I wanted to make a statement.
Taylor: What kind of a statement? You can't be supporting those two getting married.
Ridge: No, that's the last thing I want.
Taylor: Okay, then help me get this.
Ridge: We're out of options, Taylor. Our only hope is our daughter.
Steffy: My dad has finally come around. He is accepting that it's-- that it's my life. That it's my life, and--and he-- he--he's just going to step out of the way, and he's going to trust my judgment.
Rick: (Laughs) And what does your judgment tell you?
Steffy: That-- I'm not going to change my mind.
Steffy: Because I know you are the right man for me. And you are gonna make a great husband, and we are going to have an amazing future together. Think about it. All the--all the revenge, the hostility, the--the anger, everything you had to deal with with my dad. It's all going to end as soon as we get married.
Steffy: Mm. And soon. Let's--let's make it soon. We have to make it--
Steffy: Soon, okay?
Steffy: Okay. Mm-hmm.
Rick: I just-- I don't want to fight anymore.
Rick: I want a life where I can get up in the morning, go to work, work hard, and then come home, and you're there. We're living life, and we're loving life together. That's what I want.
Taylor: She's under his spell, Ridge.
Ridge: Right now Steffy believes she's found true happiness with Rick. So I gave her the gown. Taylor, all we have to go on now is Steffy's own good judgment and the way she's been raised.
Taylor: (Sighs) But that's a huge gamble to be taking. She thinks he walks on water.
Ridge: We just have to trust Steffy. That's all we can do. I don't believe he even loves her. This is about revenge. And our daughter is the tool to that revenge. She sees happiness ahead. I see her walking into a life of disappointment and despair, and there doesn't seem to be a damn thing I can do about it.
Taylor: No, no. There has to be a way for us to help her, Ridge. We've already lost one daughter, and now Thomas has serious issues.
Ridge: Rick pushed him over the edge, too, and now he's using that against me. There's not a damn thing I can do about it. I can't fight him on it. She'll side with him. It just brings the two of them closer together.
Ridge: No, Doc. I've got to let her go.
Taylor: Ridge, I'm telling you that it's not--
Ridge: Look, all we can do is hope that before this wedding even happens, she'll come to her senses and see what a disaster this guy is. Phoebe is gone. The psychological trauma that Thomas has had to endure, all because of Rick. Now he wants to marry our one surviving daughter. Steffy's an innocent victim in all this, Taylor. All we can do is hope that she's gonna open her eyes and see what's really going on here, that she sees this psychopath for what he really is once and for all.
Taylor: She'll be okay.
