Brooke: Thomas set that fire? Thomas rigged that car to explode?

Ridge: He was so ashamed, Brooke. If you could see him--

Brooke: Are you telling me that it was your son who tried to kill my son?

Thomas: I've watched other guys my age make really bad choices, and I think, their life is over. How did that happen? And now I'm one of them.

Taylor: Thomas, your father said he will help you, and he will.

Thomas: He's married to Rick's mother. You really think Brooke's just gonna let this go? Maybe jail's where I belong. I still hate that guy's guts.

Taylor: Well, maybe that's the reaction he wants to get out of all of us. Why give it to him?

Thomas: Didn't you have a consultation or something?

Taylor: I do, but I don't want to leave you here alone.

Thomas: No, no, no. It's okay. Maybe some alone time is the thing I need to get myself together.

Owen: I know I probably should have made an appointment or knocked, but, uh--

Bridget: Yes, you should have.

Owen: Look, I'm not here to sell any Forrester secrets.

Bridget: Jackie isn't here at the moment.

Owen: But you are.

Bridget: It appears so. (Laughs)

Owen: Behind enemy lines.

Bridget: Jackie is my family, or my former family, and I am simply-- I'm here for a lunch date.

Owen: Hmm. Then whose is this?

Bridget: I have-- I just got here.

Owen: Oh, my God. It's you. (Laughs) You're Madame X.

Bridget: (Sighs)

Owen: Come on, Bridget. What, did your ex-husband talk you into this?

Bridget: No. Nick couldn't talk me into taking a personal check.

Owen: God, you, uh-- you're really good.

Bridget: I did--but--

Owen: Really good.

Bridget: I'm-- I'm developing.

Owen: Developing? Well, it's-- but you're a doctor.

Bridget: That's right, and a responsible one. I'm not into frivolity.

Owen: Ah. So no, uh, buttons and bows for you, I see.

Bridget: No time for lace.

Owen: You're all about duty.

Bridget: That's correct.

Owen: Saving mankind.

Bridget: 24/7.

Owen: Yeah, well, so how long have you been at it?

Bridget: Since I was 6.

Owen: Then why haven't we been saved yet?

Bridget: Well, I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience.

Owen: You know, it's starting to look like I've got some, uh, leverage here.

Bridget: (Laughs)

Owen: So how secret do you want your secret to stay?

Bridget: I don't do hush money.

Owen: And I'm too dumb to ask for it.

Bridget: So what-- well, what kind of leverage are you talking about then?

Owen: Well, for one, you know, I could, uh, definitely use a job.

Bridget: Well, I'm not the boss.

Owen: And for number two...

Owen: God, I've wanted to do that again.

Bridget: It did seem a little premeditated.

Owen: Okay, and is that bad?

Bridget: I just hope it lasts you.

Owen: What, it's not gonna happen again?

Bridget: You know, when I divorced Nick, I took a vow...

Owen: Well, you--you don't really seem to be doing a very good job at it.

Bridget: That I would not kiss any more princes and turn them into frogs.

Owen: Well, maybe he was a frog to start with.

Bridget: And I wouldn't get involved with anyone who showed the slightest bit of interest in me.

Owen: So why is that?

Bridget: It proves they can't be trusted.

Owen: Oh. (Scoffs) Hello, I'm--uh, I'm Owen knight.

Jackie: I know.

Bridget: Oh, Jackie, he--he came to see you, but he walked in on me.

Jackie: Oh.

Owen: Oh, don't worry. She didn't exactly have her Madame X name tag on, but I figured it--

Jackie: Do we have, uh, room for another body?

Bridget: I don't think the dogs are finished with the first one.

Jackie: (Scoffs) Then what are we doing to do with him?

Brooke: I know Thomas. I lived with Thomas. I helped raise him.

Ridge: Brooke, don't make this personal.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: It's not.

Brooke: He set fire to the house with Rick in it.

Ridge: He never meant for Rick to be harmed in any way.

Brooke: (Scoffs) His car exploded. Could you please just help me understand this, Ridge? I-I-I understand that some people don't like Rick, and they didn't like the promotion that he got, and people find him abrasive. But still, that's no reason for Thomas to go and try to kill him.

Ridge: That's not what he did. Look, he feels a certain way about the women in his family...

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: About his mother, his sisters, about their safety, the respect that's due them.

Brooke: Where is he now?

Ridge: With Taylor.

Brooke: I hope you two are getting him the help that he needs.

Ridge: I can't really condemn him, Brooke. I feel the same way about Rick.

(Doorbell rings)

Rick: So suddenly you got a problem with me, huh?

Thomas: No, I wouldn't say that.

Rick: What would you call it?

Thomas: It wasn't sudden at all.

Owen: Who am I gonna blab to? Look, I'm persona non grata at Forrester.

Jackie: Well, Jarrett at "Eye On Fashion" will do anything to get information about Madame X.

Owen: So if I talk to Jarrett, you're not gonna be happy with me, I take it.

Jackie: I would want to spank you.

Owen: Well, I'd rather you hired me.

Jackie: Ahh. You're job hunting.

Bridget: I was going to mention Owen to you, actually.

Jackie: And what does he do?

Bridget: Why don't-- why don't I let him tell you?

(Door closes)

Owen: What do you need done?

Brooke: I understand your feelings, but you didn't try to blow anybody up.

Ridge: Thomas never intended to hurt Rick. He just wanted to scare him. He just wanted to send him running back to Paris or anywhere to get him away from us.

Brooke: He intended to do more than that, Ridge. He even managed to frame Aunt Pam very neatly.

Ridge: That was accidental. Pam made him that sweater where the matching fibers came from. When he miscalculated and caused that explosion in the, uh, parking lot, he panicked.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: He wanted to dump all the evidence in the first empty office he came to, and that happened to be the one where Pam was working on the--the surf line.

Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, he still had plenty of time to come forward and say so.

Ridge: Oh, Brooke, he was scared. Come on, you're a parent. Certainly you understand that.

Brooke: But I also understand that something has to be done.

Ridge: I have no intention of letting Pam sit in jail.

Brooke: Good.

Ridge: Her case is circumstantial. A good lawyer will be able to shoot that one down easily.

Brooke: Why does Pam need a lawyer if Thomas is going to confess?

Ridge: Because he's not going to, Brooke. I won't let him do that. My son is not going to prison, Brooke. He's collateral damage. Rick went after my ex-wife and my daughters to get back at me, no one else.

Brooke: Ridge, it didn't happen that way, and you know it.

Ridge: How do I know that, Brooke? I donít.

Rick: You and I used to be friends, Thomas. What the hell happened?

Thomas: No one invited you in.

Rick: You need to get something into your head, okay? What happened with Phoebe was a tragic, terrible accident. I never meant for that to happen, and you know it.

Thomas: Okay, this is my house, believe it or not, and I want you out.

Rick: The last time I checked, you barged into mine and sucker punched me in the face. So obviously you're holding on to some kind of a grudge here. What is it?

Thomas: This is my home. Everything important to me is here. We don't throw open the door for strangers to take what they want. It's not a barnyard for pigs to turn into a place of filth. I came home from school, and you were living here, your hands all over my mother. I'm thinking, what happened to Phoebe? Wasn't she good enough for you? You had no respect for her and none for me. I was just a kid, right? Weak, unimportant. Well, now Phoebe's dead. You used up my mother, so you go after my other sister? There was no way I was gonna let that happen. I watched your mother destroy my parents' marriage, and now you've come to finish off what's left? You think I can't stop you? Is that what you think? Is it?

Rick: Oh, my God. It was you. My house... my car... it was you.

Jackie: So what kind of position are you looking for, Owen?

Owen: Standing, sitting. (Laughs) Lying down. Look, I will take anything, really.

Jackie: Mm-hmm. A lot of people saying that in this economy, and you haven't been in the business long.

Owen: True, but I don't know how to explain it. I just connected on so many levels. I like the energy, you know, the--the pressure, the creativity. I like the idea of selling something that's only as real as you and the buyer believe that it is.

Jackie: How real was the surf line at Forrester?

Owen: Look, I can't take the credit nor the blame for that. Now it's like the third rail of fashion. You touched it, and you're dead, when all we did wrong was miss the obvious. Look, Forrester-- they don't sell things to surfers, and surfers don't buy Forrester.

Jackie: I would say that that is extremely well-diagnosed.

Owen: Look, there's a little bit of everything in there. There's promotions that I worked on, there's lines where I was on the head design team, and there's even some, uh, some modeling shots. It was Donnaís idea when Rick canned me. She was the only one who was halfway decent to me over there.

Jackie: We're lean and mean here. One new hire doubled my design staff. Everybody does everything from making the coffee to matching dye lots. I have no positions to fill, but... if you'd like to leave this with me, I promise you that I will keep you in mind as opportunities arise.

Owen: All right. Well, thank you very much... Jackie.

Jackie: My pleasure... Owen.

(Door closes)

Jackie: (Exhales)

Brooke: How can you even compare the two things?

Ridge: You're right. Thomas hasn't hurt anyone. Your kids are all alive and well.

Brooke: Ridge, you can't justify what Thomas did by blaming the victim.

Ridge: Rick wasn't harmed. He was never even in danger of being harmed. The only damage was to property, and I'll make good with that.

Brooke: And then what? Rick just lives in fear for the rest of his life?

Brooke: (Sighs) If he believes that the person who is trying to kill him is still at large...

Ridge: Look, after a few uneventful weeks or even months, things will calm down.

Brooke: And what if after a few weeks or months, Thomas decides to go off again?

Ridge: I give you my word, Brooke. All these feelings in Thomas have been bottled up for so long, and now he can have a chance to heal. If he needs help, counseling, we'll get it for him. He won't get that in prison. I can guarantee that. I promise you, Brooke. I'll make this right. All we have to do now is just keep a good distance between the two of them.

Rick: You hate me that much, enough to want me dead?

Thomas: I never wanted you dead. I wanted you gone.

Rick: God, what the hell does that mean, you wanted me gone? You want me to break up with Steffy? Why don't you talk to her, and see what she thinks?

Thomas: (Scoffs) This is my home.

Rick: You-- you keep saying that, Thomas.

Thomas: Yeah, a wonderful place to grow up-- a happy childhood with people I loved. I was the oldest and the only son, and you know what they taught me? Responsibility. Respect for women. They taught me restraint, that I couldn't have everything I wanted. Then I go off to college, and every time I come home, it's uglier and uglier because of you.

Rick: All right, stop it. This perfect childhood that you're talking about, it never existed, Thomas. You were living in a fog. Your mother is an alcoholic. She was teetering on the razor's edge between here and gone when I came into her life. And I helped her. I was there for her. Where the hell were you? Where was your father? And when your mother's loneliness turned into love for me, we shared something so special, something you will never, ever understand. And when she was done, she dumped me, just like Phoebe dumped me. So explain to me how I'm the bad guy when it comes to all of this.

Thomas: Well, I guess they were just incidental, weren't they?

Rick: (Laughs) Oh, come on. Please.

Thomas: Your real target was my father. Everybody knows that. You wanted him to pay for an unhappy childhood you blame on him, and you won't let anybody forget it. You killed my sister, you polluted my family, and now thanks to you, I've got nothing left to lose.

Brooke: I think you're making promises you can't keep. (Sighs) If Thomas is really that angry, how are you gonna be able to control him?

Ridge: Look at all the excuses you've made for Rick's behavior. You can't find a little compassion for my son?

Brooke: Yes, of course I can. I love Thomas. But the Thomas I know wouldn't do something like this.

Ridge: Brooke, sometimes people are pushed to do a lot of things they don't anticipate doing. (Sighs) How many times did I hear you and Donna say that about your brother? When Phoebe died, you begged me to make sure my family didn't press charges against Rick. How many times did you ask me to give him a second chance? And I just put all of my feelings on hold and did it. I didn't send him back to international, did I? Uh, I hate to remind you of this, but I have been there for you time after time. I've deferred to your feelings about things so many times, Brooke. Now is my turn to ask you to do the same for me.

Brooke: (Sighs) Who else knows about this? (Sighs)

Ridge: Taylor, Steffy, my mother.

Brooke: (Scoffs) Stephanie tends not to keep secrets once she knows about them.

Ridge: Oh, she'll keep this one.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Brooke: So will I. Rick won't find out from me, nor will anybody else.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Jackie: Hmm.

Jackie: Oh. Oh, my God.

Rick: So what are you telling me? You're a dangerous man?

Thomas: If I am, you made me that way.

Rick: That's bull. I don't buy that, because we are all responsible for our own actions and our own behavior. (Laughs) You say you're sick and tired? I am sick and tired of being everybody's all-purpose blame receptacle 'cause they're unhappy with their lives, or they don't like what they see in the mirror. Thomas, so what? Your family hasn't--hasn't measured up to be the--the glamour shots that we put on our billboards and in our magazines. I got news for you. Those people in those photos are models. They leave the photo shoot, and they go back to lives just as screwed up as yours. But that doesn't mean you get to light my house on fire. That doesn't mean you get to blow up my car because sex with me was once appealing to your mom. What's the matter? I can't get a rise out of you? Not so tough without a match in your hand, huh? I could have died, you idiot. You could have killed me, which is exactly what you're gonna have to do to prevent me from turning your ass in.

Thomas: Don't even think about it.

Rick: Back off. I am warning you right now.

Thomas: Well, if I'm going to jail, I might as well make the trip worth it.

Rick: (Grunts)

Ridge: Don't you ever lay a hand on my son.
