Brooke: I want IDs checked both at the parking lot entrance and the building entrance. No exceptions. We're in heightened security, Carlos. Yes. (Sighs) That's right. Messengers, deliveries-- they all need to be escorted from the lobby. All right. Thank you. (Sighs)

(Door closes)

Pam: (Sighs)

Donna: What are you doing here?

Pam: Oh, you haven't heard? Stephanie gave me my job back.

Brooke: Doing what?

Pam: Well, I won't be crocheting the fabulous bikinis anymore. Now it's bags--purses. Or maybe even the occasional dress or two. (Laughs) So, um, they arrest your son yet?

Donna: Marcus isn't a suspect.

Pam: Not what I hear. (Laughs)

Donna: Pam, he was talking to Lieutenant Baker and his son when the car exploded. You know that.

Pam: Yeah, and so what? Bombs have timing devices. He could have been anywhere.

Charlie: Here's a little something to eat. (Sighs) Report from the lab.

Lt. Baker: Oh. Good.

Charlie: Check it out.

Lt. Baker: Oh!

Charlie: Not enough mustard?

Lt. Baker: Wh-what the hell is this thing?

Charlie: It's a tofu dog. Man, it tastes just like chicken.

Lt. Baker: It tastes just like garbage. I can't eat the thing.

Charlie: Pop, it ain't gonna kill you. Come--

Lt. Baker: You want to bet? Get me a real dog!

Charlie: All right. All right. Read the report first.

Lt. Baker: (Sighs) All right, the match used to set the fire didn't come from Marcus' office. (Sighs)

Charlie: Kid may be clean.

Lt. baker: Lab guy says the letters used in the note came from a surfer magazine.

Charlie: Interesting.

Lt. Baker: Didn't Forrester launch a line of surfer clothes recently?

Charlie: Right. A few months ago.

Lt. Baker: Who's in charge of that?

Charlie: Was in charge. Owen Knight. He got fired recently.

Lt. Baker: Okay. That's something I can dig into.

(Cell phone rings)

(ring)

(ring)

Owen: Hello?

Lt. Baker: Mr. Knight, this is Lieutenant Baker.

Owen: Uh, yeah. Hold on, dude. Just one second.

Lt. Baker: He called me "dude."

Charlie: (Chuckles) Must mean he's guilty, eh, Pop?

Owen: Hey, man. Sorry about that. I just, uh, just got out of the water.

Lt. Baker: Isn't it kind of cold to be swimming?

Owen: Yeah, well. Us surfers don't really mind.

Lt. Baker: Oh, you're a surfer. I need to talk to you, Owen.

Owen: Okay, about what?

Lt. Baker: Oh, not over the phone. Now either you can come to me, or I can come to you... dude.

Brooke: What are you doing?

Rick: Hey, Mom. Just, uh, looking at some security video.

Brooke: Anything suspicious?

Rick: No, not yet.

Brooke: That looks like the front of Ridge's office.

Rick: That's because it is the front of Ridge's office.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Rick: Um, what the hell are you doing?

Brooke: For once... (sighs) you're gonna listen to me and take it on faith that I'm right. Ridge did not set fire to your home...

Rick: (Sighs)

Brooke: And he did not blow up your car.

Rick: Then who did? Because he thinks that I did it to myself.

Brooke: No, he doesn't. Not anymore. He is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, and I expect you to do the same.

Ridge: Steffy promised me she'd stop by today.

Taylor: Did you tell her I would be here?

Ridge: No. I didn't want her to feel like we were ganging up on her.

Steffy: Hey, Dad.

Ridge: Hey, sweetheart.

Steffy: Mom, what are you doing here?

Taylor: (Sighs) We, uh, we just wanted to talk with you.

Steffy: You mean pressure me.

Taylor: We are concerned.

Steffy: (Scoffs)

Ridge: Sweetheart, if you had been in that car with Rick yesterday, you wouldn't be here right now.

Steffy: But I wasn't in Rick's car.

Ridge: The point is you could have been. Hon, don't you see this is getting very dangerous now? You have got to stop seeing Rick today-- right now.

Donna: (Sighs)

Pam: Don't forget that picture of my sister's husband.

Donna: Just so you know, this is temporary, Pammy.

Pam: Then, uh, why move out at all?

Donna: Because one day... (sighs) one moment with you is enough to make me nauseous.

Stephanie: Well, get an antacid tablet, because she's staying. She's my sister.

Donna: And why is that, Stephanie? Because you said so?

Stephanie: Absolutely. And Rick does not get to be the decider.

Donna: He's President.

Stephanie: Honey, I don't care if he's Putin or The Pope. He's on a short leash as far as I'm concerned.

Donna: (Sighs)

Brooke: Your life is being threatened, and it isn't by Ridge.

Rick: You thought so at first.

Brooke: I did not.

Rick: Well, Mom, of course you're not going to admit that, but think about it. You knew it was possible. Ridge gets up in the middle of the night. He goes to my house.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Rick: He comes home. He smells of gasoline. Doesn't take a PhD to figure out what he was doing.

Brooke: Ridge doesn't want to harm you.

Rick: (Sighs)

Brooke: He just wouldn't do that.

Rick: Mom, you should have seen the hatred in this man's eyes up on the roof. I've never seen hatred like that before, especially when I was saying I'm not gonna stay away from his daughter.

Brooke: And why would you tell him that if you knew how he would respond?

Rick: Careful, Mom. You're sounding a little suspicious right now.

Brooke: You're right. I'm gonna choose to believe that you told him hoping to bring him around.

Rick: Good. Now that I think about it, that was kind of a bonehead move on my part.

Brooke: (Sighs) The only thing that's bonehead about this whole thing is that you're wasting precious time squabbling with Ridge when the person who is trying to kill you is still out there somewhere. Come on, Rick. You have to take this seriously.

Rick: (Sighs)

Lt. Baker: Oh, good. You found us.

Owen: Well, I have been here before.

Lt. Baker: Well, too bad it didn't work out. Uh, your job at Forrester, I mean.

Owen: Yeah, I guess that is too bad.

Charlie: It was Rick who fired you, wasn't it?

Owen: Yeah, that's right.

Charlie: That must have been a bitter pill to swallow.

Owen: So what? What, I torched his house, and I blew up his car?

Lt. Baker: Did you?

Owen: Look, seriously, Lieutenant, you're barking up the wrong tree. Am I angry that Rick fired me? Yeah. He's a spoiled little brat.

Lt. Baker: Keep going. You're doing fine.

Owen: Look, do you have any evidence connecting me to this thing? (Laughs) Well, what's that?

Charlie: Why don't you tell us?

Owen: I've never seen that before.

Lt. Baker: These cut-out letters-- they don't look familiar?

Owen: I don't know. Are they supposed to?

Lt. Baker: Well, gee. I don't know. Charles, what does it look like to you?

Charlie: Well, gee, it looks like, uh, letters cut from a surfer's magazine.

Lt. Baker: Anything you want to tell us, Owen?

Owen: (Laughs) Man, there is nothing to say.

Lt. Baker: Oh, come on, man. You know the routine. You've got means, motive, opportunity. You've got two out of the three. You know what that makes you, right? The prime suspect.

Steffy: Dad, I don't want you worrying about me.

Taylor: We're way beyond that, Steffy.

Steffy: If we try to find out who hurt Rick, then there'll be no reason to worry. Dad, I hope you still don't think Rick started that fire himself.

Ridge: Sweetheart, I'm way beyond that. Rick's far too selfish to put his own life in danger.

Steffy: Or too smart.

Ridge: I would never accuse him of that.

Taylor: If he were smart, he wouldn't be putting you in danger and letting you be around him.

Steffy: He doesn't. He wants me to stay as far away from him as possible.

Ridge: Finally, he and I agree on something.

Steffy: (Sighs)

Taylor: So--so wait. So then you've agreed to stay away from each other?

Steffy: Of course not, especially now. I am not going to abandon Rick. I love him, and we are committed to each other. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I won't walk away from Rick. Please don't ask that of me.

Donna: I have tried to put up with you, Stephanie, for Eric's sake, but it doesn't give you the right to dictate what happens here at Forrester Creations. Eric put Rick in charge.

Stephanie: Well, you know, Eric's judgment has been suspect of late, and I think you're a prime example of it.

Donna: And you trying to rehire this nutcase is a good example of--of good decision making?

Pam: Hey, hey, hey, hey. I'm not gonna let you compare me to that evil little nephew of yours. I didn't kill Phoebe. I didn't manipulate Eric into making me President. And I sure as heck would never sell out my own company. That boy's a little devil, and he should be destroyed.

Donna: Is that it? And who should destroy him, Pammy? The woman who tried to kill me, my mother, my son, Eric?

Pam: Donna, you know I was not in my right mind.

Donna: Well, in my opinion, Pammy, you still aren't.

Pam: (Sighs)

Ridge: Someday you're gonna be in our place, sweetheart. Wouldn't you want to protect your daughter?

Steffy: Yes.

Ridge: And what would you tell her?

Steffy: (Sighs) Probably the same thing you're telling me... until she describes to me how she's feeling, how she's never been more certain in her entire life, how she respects her mother and her father more than anyone, and how she knows it hurts to hear it, but she's not their little girl anymore.

Steffy: And even when I tell her I still think it's a mistake, when she tells me, "yes, but it's my mistake to make," I'll accept that. Because I will remember my mistakes and what they taught me. (Sighs) Dad, I have to do this my own way. I am asking you, both of you-- I am begging you, please... understand that.

Rick: Mom, are you kidding me? This is my life. Of course I'm serious about this. I'm not taking this lightly.

Brooke: As long as you're focused on Ridge, you are.

Rick: Mom, he hates me. Wouldn't it make a little sense that he would want to get rid of me, or at the very least, send me a message?

Brooke: It's not in Ridge's nature to do that.

Rick: When it comes to his daughter, it is. But I'm not letting her go.

Brooke: (Sighs) I do not support this relationship that you have with Steffy. I cannot even think about her. Your first priority isn't Steffy. It's staying alive. Your relationship with her would be meaningless if this person who's trying to kill you succeeds.

Lt. Baker: The night of the fire, when you left work, where did you go?

Owen: Out to grab a bite to eat.

Charlie: Where?

Owen: To the Sunset Diner.

Lt. Baker: That's near the beach.

Owen: So what?

Lt. Baker: So Rick lives on the beach. Were you alone?

Owen: Look, and I live on the beach, as well, and, yes, I was alone. Look, I may have had opportunity, motive and maybe even the means, but I'm not stupid. If I wanted to get rid of Rick Forrester, I sure as hell wouldn't do it this way. Look, I didn't do it. You guys want to give me a-a lie detector test or something? Go ahead. I'm gonna pass. Now if you guys are done with me, I'd like to go, because I got a date in an hour with low tide.

Lt. Baker: All right, one more question. Um, you didn't work on that surf line alone. Donna Forrester worked on it, too. Uh, anyone else?

Owen: Yeah. Stephanie's sister Pam Douglas worked with us.

Lt. Baker: All right. Free to go, dude.

Owen: Thanks, fellas. Hope you find your man, but not before he finishes the job.

Steffy: It's time to let go. I don't want to lose you two, but I won't be controlled.

Ridge: There's nothing we can say to you, is there?

Steffy: No. No, there's-- there's so much you can say. You can tell me that you believe in me, and that you respect me as an adult now, even if you don't agree with my decisions.

Ridge: (Sighs) Can we tell you that we will... always be there for you if one of those decisions doesn't really work out?

Steffy: (Sobs) Yes, Dad.

Taylor: And that you trust us enough to come to us if something doesn't work out-- if it doesn't work out the way you want it to.

Ridge: Sweetheart, you will never, ever be alone, ever, no matter how bleak things may seem.

Steffy: (Laughs) Well, I'm hoping it won't always be bleak, but, yeah, I-I-I know. I know I can always come to you.

Ridge: I really hope that Rick doesn't hurt you, but I have a bad feeling he's going to.

Taylor: And if that happens, we just want you to remember to come to us. We won't judge you. We'll just be here for you, and we'll love you.

Steffy: So you're saying...

Taylor: (Sighs)

Ridge: We're saying that we love you more than life, and we just want you to be happy.

Steffy: (Laughs)

Ridge: Okay?

Steffy: Oh, Daddy.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Charlie: Ok, good news. The lab has come up with something else.

Lt. Baker: No, see, this is a dog, but not your garden variety, either.

Charlie: Fiber.

Lt. Baker: Fiber got nothing to do with it, son. It's the quality of the beef that sets up--

Charlie: I'm talking about evidence, Pop. They found fiber on Rick's desk.

Lt. Baker: Oh no kidding?

Charlie: In the note and in the glue-- same fiber.

Lt. Baker: Mm. So the same perp did both dirty deeds, huh?

Charlie: And get this. There's a special kind of yarn used in crocheting, and you know who crochets, right? Pam Douglas. I checked on it. She came up with a crochet bikini for the surf line-- the only product that sold in the entire line. She's crocheting all the time, right? There must be all kinds of fibers on her.

Lt. Baker: And now it's at both crime scenes.

Charlie: Bingo.

Lt. Baker: Same Pam Douglas that poisoned Eric Forrester with that lemon bar?

Charlie: You got it. Same Pam Douglas that put honey on Donna and then sicked a bear on her.

Lt. Baker: Not to mention... (sighs)) Planted a snake at Forrester that almost killed Donna's son.

Charlie: What you thinking, Pop?

Lt. Baker: I'm thinking we should go pay Pam Douglas a little visit. (Sighs)

Steffy: Rick!

Rick: Steffy.

Steffy: Rick, it--it isn't my father.

Rick: (Scoffs) I know you want to believe that but--

Steffy: No. No. It isn't my dad. Something incredible just happened.

Brooke: What?

Steffy: Well, I-- I told my parents I'm not gonna stop seeing you, and... (laughs) they're not happy about it, but they realized they can't stand in our way.

Rick: Your dad--your dad said that?

Steffy: Well, um, not exactly, no. But that's-- I know that's what he meant.

Rick: (Laughs) Oh, my God.

Steffy: (Giggles)

Brooke: Is it true what Steffy just told us? You're not going to fight this relationship anymore?

(Knocking on door)

Stephanie: Oh, Lieutenant.

Lt. Baker: Good morning, Mrs. Forrester.

Stephanie: Did you find out who set the fire?

Pam: It was Marcus, wasn't it?

Lt. Baker: No, no. Um, it wasn't him.

Charlie: Hello, Mrs. Forrester.

Pam: Oh.

(Door closes)

Pam: Did Rick do it to himself?

Lt. Baker: Nope. We don't think it was him, either.

Stephanie: But you know who it is?

Charlie: Yeah. I think we nailed it.

Stephanie: Can you tell us? Oh, my God. You don't think it's my sister!
