Taylor: I couldn't talk to you on the phone about this, so I had to see you in person. (Sighs)

Ridge: What's going on?

Taylor: Will you promise me you won't do anything?

Ridge: You said this was about Steffy.

Taylor: Just promise me.

Ridge: What the hell did Rick do now?

Taylor: (Sighs)

Rick: You don't work here anymore.

Pam: Stephanie says I do.

Rick: Doing what?

Pam: I'm making crocheted purses now.

Rick: There's a file on the passenger seat of my car, if you can go fetch that for me. Just leave the keys at reception.

Rick: You do work here, after all.

Thorne: Hey. You on your way out?

Owen: Yeah. Just got a little thank-you card here for your dad.

Thorne: Listen, man... (sighs) Rick really burned you. I'm--I apologize for that.

Owen: Hey, you're the one that's got to stay here and work with the little tyrant.

Thorne: (Laughs) That's true. Dad will appreciate this.

Owen: Yeah. Eric's a class act...

Thorne: Yeah.

Owen: Giving me a chance the way he did.

Thorne: I hope you get another shot. If you need a reference at any time, you call me, all right?

Owen: What, you'd do that?

Thorne: Hey, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, man.

Owen: Well, it seems like Rick is a dangerous enemy to have.

Thorne: No, Rick thinks he is.

Steffy: (Clears throat)

Donna: This is ridiculous, questioning Marcus about the fire at Rick’s house.

Lt. Baker: Well, we don't have to do it here. I could just take you back down to the station.

Donna: No, my son is not going anywhere.

Charlie: This your desk, Marcus?

Marcus: Why?

Charlie: You smoke?

Marcus: Heck, no.

Charlie: Then what are you doing with these?

Rick: Mom, do us both a favor and stop asking about Steffy and me.

Brooke: I already know more than I want to. (Sighs) Ridge can not find out that you've been intimate. Not from you. Not from anyone.

Ridge: What did Rick do to our daughter?

Taylor: You know about the fire at the beach house.

Ridge: What about it? Steffy wasn't there. Rick was alone.

Taylor: Yes, at the time of the fire, he was.

Ridge: You know, he's trying to blame me for that fire.

Taylor: Well, of course. Just like everything else-- his childhood, his parents, his career not working out quite like he'd like it to-- it's all your fault.

Ridge: Steffy's still seeing him? Is that what you want to say to me?

Taylor: No, what I'm trying to tell you is we have to find a way to save her, Ridge. We have to get her away from him before she gets in any deeper.

Ridge: Deeper than what, Doc? What's going on here? What the hell did Rick do to our daughter?

Steffy: You're bonding over your hatred of Rick?

Owen: What, are you saying our feelings aren't warranted?

Steffy: You got fired. That sucks. Stuff happens.

Thorne: And what about me? I was denied the Presidency yet again, Steffy.

Steffy: (Sighs) That wasn't Rick’s call.

Thorne: He lined the dominos up.

Steffy: Fine, blame him. Join the bandwagon. But don't assume everyone in this building feels the way you do.

Owen: Are you telling us that we need to watch what we say?

Steffy: Just so you know, I'm gonna be staying on working here.

Thorne: Oh, so Rick is leaving.

Steffy: No, he's staying, too. And in case you didn't get it, Rick and I are together.

Owen: Oh, God.

Thorne: Ooh.

Owen: Well, all I can say is watch your back, cutie.

Steffy: I wish you could see Rick the way I do-- a man who's given so much to this company. He really is a great guy. He's sweet.

Owen: Oh, yeah. He was real sweet when he canned me.

Steffy: The surf line didn't cut it, Owen.

Thorne: I don't think it was about the surf line.

Owen: No way. This was personal.

Steffy: Hmm. Personal. When someone tries to burn down your house, that's real personal. Think how Rick feels. He's surrounded by people who he can't trust, people who wish he was gone.

Owen: Look, the reason why Rick fired me is because he is a power-hungry jerk.

Steffy: He could have been killed.

Thorne: Tell your boyfriend if he wants to feel safe, he's in the wrong building.

Pam: (Scoffs) (whispers) These people.

Thorne: You want a hand? I'm headed your way.

Owen: No, thanks. I got one more thing I got to do before I leave.

Thorne: (Sighs)

Taylor: Look, I'm--I'm not trying to find an opportunity to-- to bash Brooke and her son here, but Brooke isn't being very objective about this, and she doesn't want to see that her son is so damaged, but we don't really have that luxury. We don't have the luxury of time for her to come around. We have to do something about it right now, Ridge. We--we have got to stop this. It's getting very serious.

Ridge: I know you're, uh, worried about this. I am, too. When I called you last night to see if Steffy was there, I decided to ride the motorcycle down to the beach house. Her car wasn't there. She wasn't with him.

Taylor: That's because she had already left. But she had been there with him earlier.

Ridge: She didn’t... tell me they didn’t.

Taylor: I'm sorry. I-I wish I could.

Ridge: (Scoffs) He violated our daughter! (Sighs)

Taylor: Ridge, this whole thing makes me sick. But we have to handle it. We have to handle this the right way.

Ridge: I am through dealing with Rick. I'm through. God!

Taylor: But Steffy thinks she's in love with him.

Ridge: She's not in love. She's being used, Doc. He's gonna ruin her life.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Ridge: I'm done playing games with that guy!

Rick: I am sick, and I am tired of playing by Ridge's rules. This is ridiculous, mom. Steffy and I are adults.

Brooke: You're acting like children, testing us, pushing the boundaries.

Rick: (Sighs) We’re not together just to make Ridge mad, okay?

Brooke: You knew what it would do to Ridge if he were to find out.

Rick: Yeah, of course I did, and you know what? I don't care. I know that this is an alien concept to you, Mom, but this is how most people live their lives on this planet.

Brooke: So you really want to push this until it becomes a crisis. You want to force Ridge into seeing things differently. Well, you can't, because he won’t. And when he finds out that you've slept with his daughter—

Rick: Bring it on.

Brooke: (Sighs) You--you stay away from Ridge, and stay away from Steffy. If you love her, if you love me, then you will keep your distance from both of them.

Rick: (Sighs)

Charlie: These matches have been used.

Marcus: Yeah, we keep them around for birthday parties-- you know, lighting candles, singing happy songs.

Lt. Baker: Anybody had a birthday in the last few days?

Marcus: Man, anybody could have left those matches on my desk, man, and went out for a smoke.

Charlie: Good. You won't mind if we take them down and test them against the matches we found at the beach house.

Marcus: Do I have a choice?

Lt. Baker: No.

Donna: Marcus, you don't say another word. I'm calling a lawyer.

Brooke: Ridge, I just talked to Rick. Where's Ridge?

Taylor: He left.

Brooke: Where did he go?

Taylor: I don't know.

Taylor: So did Rick tell you, too? Did he tell you how he seduced my daughter?

Brooke: Who told you? Steffy. Taylor, you didn’t. Oh, dear God. You told Ridge?

(Cell phone rings)

Ridge: What?

Rick: Meet me at the sky lounge right now. (Hangs up cell phone and sighs)

Brooke: Where did Ridge go?

Taylor: I told you. I don't know.

Brooke: After Rick?

Taylor: Well, I tried to beg him not to.

Brooke: Okay, if he comes back here, just keep him here. I need to get Rick out of the building.

Taylor: No. You know what you better do? You better tell your sick son to get out of my daughter's life.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Rick still here? His car's out back.

Jake: Oh, I am-- Madison, thanks so much. This is gonna save me so much time if we both go over these invoices together.

Madison: No problem.

Ridge: Hey, guys, would you mind finishing that somewhere else? Give me a little privacy up here, please?

Jake: Oh, yeah.

Madison: Yeah.

Jake: Yeah, sure thing, Ridge. Sorry.

(Door opens)

Ridge: Where are you, punk?

Rick: (Sighs)

(knocking on door)

Steffy: Rick?

Steffy: (Sighs)

Steffy: (Sighs)

Taylor: I don't give a damn how you do it, but you better find a way to have your son stay away from Steffy.

Brooke: And you don't think I've tried?

Taylor: Oh, not hard enough.

Brooke: He loves her, Taylor.

Taylor: He doesn't know what love is.

Brooke: You don't believe that.

Taylor: (Sighs) No, this is just another way for him to find a way to hurt Ridge.

Brooke: He says his feelings are real.

Taylor: Real? Right. Right. Just like they were for her sister. I want him to stay away from her, and so does Ridge.

Brooke: Well, so do I. But to accuse Rick of setting his own house on fire?

Taylor: Well, I don't think it sounds that crazy, Brooke. Look at everything your son's been doing. Everybody can see how vindictive he's been becoming. Rick doesn't give a damn who he destroys anymore. So why wouldn't somebody so sociopath mind setting their own house on fire, especially if they can set Ridge up?

Brooke: So you told Ridge that they made love to get back at him? Is that how you put it?

Taylor: I don't know. How would you have put it, Brooke? I'm thinking you were going to keep that a secret.

Brooke: Because I knew what would happen. Now Ridge is out there somewhere ready to go off, and if he finds Rick and confronts him-- I'm not gonna let that happen.

Rick: I didn't come here to fight. I came here to talk to you, to reason with you. Look, it's time we put the cards on the table, Ridge. I have told you time and time again that I am not manipulating your daughter, that I am not using her. Steffy has told you how she feels about me. You don't listen to her. The thing is you're not listening to anybody. You're too busy barking out orders and trying to control the situation. Well, I am here to tell you, you cannot control this situation, because our feelings for each other are too strong.

Ridge: Oh, shut up.

Rick: (Sighs) She loves me. And there's nothing you can do to change that.

Ridge: Are you saying I can't stop you?

Rick: I'm saying that this situation would be a lot better for everybody else if you would just accept it. All right, listen. I called this meeting, 'cause I want to try to help you understand that I'm serious. This is not a game to me. This is not a con. This is not about revenge. I want a life with your daughter. Ridge, I'm here to ask you if I can have your daughter's hand in marriage.

Ridge: You got to be kidding me.

Rick: B-before you go throwing me over this-- this railing again, just hear me out. Listen to what I'm trying to tell you. If that doesn't prove my love for your daughter, what the hell will? Look, we could have eloped, all right? We could have done this entire thing behind your back, but I didn't want to do that. I wanted to do this the right way, the respectful way, because I want to end whatever this is between us.

Ridge: Oh, it is gonna end, Rick. It will end. You're gonna stay away from Steffy.

Rick: Let me ask you a question. Did you end things with my mom when Stephanie told you to all those times? No. You couldn't, because you love her, and that love is strong. It's a love that people cannot understand, Ridge, and I couldn't see it until now, but I get it.

Ridge: I know what you did last night, Rick. And I know what this is right now. It's just another one of your cons. You knew I'd find out about last night, so you come over here and try to throw a little curve ball, ask for my blessing. Well, you can't have it. You will never have Steffy. This is over, Rick-- over as of tonight. You will never touch her again. Decisions, decisions.

Brooke: Taylor, you've created a disaster.

Taylor: What are you talking about? Ridge is her father. He deserves to know.

Brooke: I've got to go find Rick.

Taylor: Yes, yes, Brooke. Please, go and enable your son. Go protect him. I'm going to find Ridge.

Brooke: Yes, and check with security and see if his car's in the lot.

Taylor: No. You take care of your family. I'll take care of mine.

Brooke: Jeez. (Sighs)

Jake: Brooke! Brooke! Oh, good. I've been looking for you.

Brooke: What? What is it?

Jake: Ridge and Rick-- sky lounge. It's getting ugly.

Brooke: Oh, my God, no.

Rick: Ridge, what happened last night—

Ridge: You're through taking things that I love away from me, Rick. Because of you, I will never hold Phoebe again. I will never hear her sing, because you took her from us. And now you want Steffy. You want to marry her. You want me to just hand her over to you.

Rick: You can't keep us apart.

Ridge: You have no idea what I'm capable of, Rick.

Rick: (Laughs) So you want to go there? What do you want to do? You want to punch me again? You want to kill me? I don't care, Ridge. Just go ahead. Give me your best shot. But Steffy will never forgive you. So we're left with one of two options, Ridge. You can either accept my relationship with your daughter and have her in your life, or you can keep going down the road that you're going down and lose her. I don't care. But the--but the chest pounding and the foot stomping has got to stop, and you got to realize that your daughter is a grown woman, Ridge, with a mind of her own, and she's capable of making her own decisions. You will never know how sorry I am for your loss. And I'm sorry that you don't like me. And I'm sorry that you don't approve of my relationship with your daughter. I'm not going to end it, because it's not wrong. And I'm so sick and tired of feeling guilty about it, so I'm finished feeling guilty. In fact, I'm finished up here. I'm going back to work.

Ridge: No, you're not. Just get the hell out of here now.

Rick: (Sighs) All right, fine. I'll leave, give you a chance to cool off. But I will back at work tomorrow, rRdge, and the next day, and the next day after that, so you better get used to it.

Ridge: Rick, just go get in your car and leave right now.

Lt. Baker: It seems you' acting a little defensive there, Marcus.

Marcus: No, I just don't like what you're insinuating.

Lt. Baker: I'm not insinuating anything-- just trying to find out the facts.

Charlie: You know, if you tell us the truth, things can go a lot easier for you.

Marcus: Man, I am telling you the truth.

Lt. Baker: We'll see about that. Those matches will tell us a lot if they link up with the ones we found at the fire site.

Charlie: You sure you don't have anything you want to tell us?

Steffy: Hey, Jake, have you seen my dad?

Jake: Yeah, uh-- yeah, sky lounge. He and Rick were actually going at it pretty good.

Steffy: What?

Steffy: Rick? Rick, wait!

Brooke: What happened out here? Where's my son?

Steffy: You had a run-in with my dad?

Rick: Yeah, I mean, I was just trying to talk to him and convince him that I'm not using you.

Steffy: Did it work?

Rick: I don't know. I think he hates me now more than ever, if that's even possible. Look, I got to go. I love you.

Brooke: Where is my son?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Brooke: Rick!
