Ridge: So one daughter wasn't enough, huh? Now you want Steffy, too, huh?
Jackie: Oh. Have you any idea what time it is?
Bridget: (Sighs) Oh, my goodness. I actually--I don't have any-- oh, I bet it's gotten so late. Have I been holding you up?
Jackie: (Laughs) I'd stay here all night just to see you like this.
Bridget: Yeah? Like what?
Jackie: Liberated, joyful, just embracing that side of yourself that you've kept hidden for years.
Bridget: Hmm, really? What side is that? My wild and crazy side?
Jackie: (Laughs) I'm just thrilled for you, that's all, after everything you been through with Nicky. No one--no one deserves a second chance at happiness more than you do, Bridget.
Katie: (Sighs) Today was just insane-- I mean, complete chaos. The phones rang off the hook. Everyone needed everything yesterday, and to top it off, I got a flat tire on the way home. Is that for me?
Nick: And you changed it, didn't you? You changed the flat.
Katie: Do I look like a helpless person to you?
Nick: No. You look absolutely adorable-- here-- especially with that smudge on your nose.
Nick: Here, work on that. (Laughs)
Katie: (Giggles) You look pretty good yourself. Is that a new suit?
Nick: It is. What do you think?
Katie: I like it. It's very fashionable.
Nick: Yeah? Well, that's why they call me "Mr. Fashionable," which reminds me, I wanted to know what you think of these.
Katie: Wow, these are beautiful.
Katie: They're very impressive. Did Clarke do these?
Nick: No. Mother hired a new designer.
Katie: Oh, right, Madame X.
Katie: Yeah, the whole town's buzzing about her.
Katie: I wonder who she is. I don't suppose I could pry it out of you.
Nick: Well, there's no need to pry. I'm gonna tell you.
Katie: Wow, that was easy.
Nick: Well, we decided we weren't gonna have any more secrets between us, so, um, this is something that I think you need to know. But you got to keep your mouth shut, especially over at Forrester.
Katie: Okay, but what's the big deal? Isn't this just a publicity ploy to draw attention to your mother's company?
Nick: No, it's a little more than that, which is why the identity of this designer has to remain anonymous.
Katie: Okay, I'm hooked. I'm on the edge of my seat. Who is this mysterious Madame X?
Katie: Bridget. Bridget, as in your ex-wife?
Thomas: Oh. Hey, sis. I thought I say you driving off.
Steffy: Yeah, I forgot my cell phone. Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?
Thomas: Yeah, of course.
Steffy: No, I mean it. You got to promise me you won't rat me out.
Thomas: What's wrong?
Steffy: (Sighs) Something happened. You know what? You're not even gonna understand either. I just--
Thomas: What-- what do you mean, "either"?
Steffy: Like Mom and Grandma. Mom tried to do an intervention on me.
Thomas: An intervention for what?
Steffy: Because I'm in love, and she doesn't approve.
Thomas: Wai--wait. You're in love? When did this happen?
Steffy: Recently and--and unexpectedly. It just-- God, it's just all so confusing.
Thomas: What is-- I--Steffy, who is this guy?
Steffy: (Exhales) Rick.
Thomas: Are you out of your mind?
Steffy: You know what? You know what? Fine. I wasn't supposed to say anything. This is a mistake. I'm just gonna go.
Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. If you're involved with Rick, that is one heck of a mistake.
Steffy: Why can't people understand that we were grieving?
Thomas: Our sister is dead because of him!
Steffy: Well, sometimes grief draws people together. They find a connection.
Thomas: And that's what happened?
Thomas: Steffy, he is using you.
Steffy: No, he's not. He loves me.
Thomas: Like he loved Phoebe? And like--like he loved our mother a month ago?
Steffy: No, not like that. We have something together. I-I can't explain it.
Thomas: Yeah, of course you can't, because it's sick.
Steffy: Oh, don't you say a word about this. You promised.
Thomas: Who would I tell?
Steffy: Dad doesn't know.
Thomas: Well, thank God, Steffy, because he can never find out.
Steffy: I understand that. That's why I am so messed up. I have to tell him it's over, and I don't want to. God! God, I-I so don't want to.
Ridge: So answer me. What did you do to Steffy?
Rick: I haven't done anything, Ridge.
Ridge: Oh, don't lie to me. I heard you.
Rick: (Sighs) Just give me a chance to explain to you--
Brooke: No. You're not explaining anything. I'm gonna talk to Ridge. You're just gonna go.
Ridge: No, I want to hear it from him.
Rick: Mom, it's okay. Ridge needs to know what it was like for Steffy and I after Phoebe died.
Ridge: "What it was like"?
Ridge: What the hell are you talking about, Rick?
Rick: Look, I was feeling guilty, okay?
Ridge: Of course you were. You killed my daughter, you bastard.
Brooke: Honey, for God sakes, just go.
Rick: Okay, that's--no. That's how I felt. That's how I felt. And Steffy was feeling some of her own guilt, and--
Ridge: Why would she feel guilty? What? She was telling the truth? That you kissed her? That you used her to get to me?
Rick: (Sighs) Ridge. Ridge. Ridge, the point is we were feeling a lot of the same things, and we were connected by that.
Ridge: Connected how?
Rick: We became friends, and then--
Brooke: Just stop!
Ridge: And what? And what?
Ridge: There's more to this relationship, isn't there, huh?
Ridge: I just want the truth, Brooke. That's all I want. Just the--the truth. Is there more going on here between him and my daughter?
Thomas: Steffy, the guy came onto you to get to Dad.
Steffy: It's not like that now.
Thomas: How do you-- how do you know that? How can you even think of trusting this guy?
Steffy: Because. Because love makes you see things differently. You know what? There's no point in talking about it. I'm on my way to see him now.
Thomas: To end it.
Steffy: Yes. Yes, to end it.
Thomas: Steffy, when you go over there and see Rick, you tell him you want this to be over. It's what you want. Make that 100% clear.
Steffy: But it's not true.
Thomas: Steffy, listen to me. You need to end this before Dad gets wind of it, because if you don't and he finds out, I honestly believe he could kill Rick.
Bridget: Thank you, Jackie, but you know, I can't hide behind Madame X forever. I am gonna have to reveal myself, so to speak.
Jackie: (Groans) And end all that delicious free publicity? Oh. (Scoffs)
Bridget: I can't believe I've fooled as many people as I have-- I mean, well, except Nick, but well, we were married twice. As for my family--
Jackie: I thought that you wanted to remain anonymous until you were just convinced you could compete on their level.
Bridget: Well, of course I do. I am just thinking when I--when I come clean, it could get a little dicey.
Jackie: Yep, and not just for them. Imagine when Katie finds out that you and her betrothed are working so closely together. I doubt that'll go down well, if at all.
Katie: Bridget... the doctor... your ex-wife... is Madame X?
Nick: Well, it surprised me, too, but my mother believes in her. And like you said, you think the designs are impressive.
Katie: She spends all that time becoming a doctor, and now she suddenly decides she wants to be a fashion designer-- at Jackie M., no less, the company her ex-husband owns?
Nick: She wanted to quit when she found out I was involved in the day-to-day. It wasn't--
Katie: Why didn't you let her?
Nick: Because like I told you, it wasn't my decision. It was my--
Katie: Right. Your mother hired her. Great. Come on, Nick, think about it. This is right on the heels of the Forrester collection being sabotaged and leaked to your company...
Katie: And then premiering as your own collection, and now Bridget pulls something like this?
Nick: Bridget doesn't know anything about these designs being leaked, and she's not going to. We're keeping this whole thing under wraps. That's how Eric wants it. That's the condition on us keeping the line.
Katie: All right, fine. You want to keep her in the dark? Fine by me. I still think it's a little strange, this transformation from doctor to designer. You may be convinced that that's all that's going on here, but I'm not.
Nick: Where are you going?
Katie: To see Bridget. I'd like to find out what's really going on for myself. (Sets bottle on table)
Ridge: There's more going on here, isn't there? So what is it? Tell me.
Rick: Mom. Mom, it's okay. It's time that he knew. Hell, it's time that everybody knew about Steffy and me. Ridge, look, your--your daughter Steffy and I are in love. We love each other.
Ridge: Oh, no, you don't. No, you don't.
Brooke: Ridge! Ridge, wait!
Rick: Oh, my God. Ridge, stay calm. Just relax!
Ridge: Don't you touch her.
Rick: Just calm down, okay?
Ridge: No way.
Brooke: Stop! Don't! Don't don't it, Ridge!
Ridge: No way. No way.
Brooke: Ridge, come here! Oh!
Ridge: I'm telling you. He can't do this.
Brooke: I'm begging you, please!
Brooke: God! Come back here! Ridge! Ridge! Wait!
(Car door shuts)
Rick: Jeez, what the hell are you doing here?
Steffy: Oh! I need to talk to you. What's going on?
Rick: (Sighs) do--your father knows. Ridge knows about us.
Steffy: My dad! My dad!
Rick: Aah! (Engine revs)
Ridge: Steffy! Steffy, no!
Steffy: I can't believe this is happening. How did he find out?
Rick: What matters is that he knows, and he's out for my blood.
Steffy: Oh, if I'd just gotten here sooner. I was going to tell you that it was over, that as much as I love you, I just can't--
Rick: Oh, my God.
Rick: Your dad. He's in his car. He's coming after us.
Brooke: Ridge, please, slow down. This isn't the way to stop them.
Ridge: He has my daughter. This is happening all over again.
Brooke: Sweetheart, no.
Ridge: Your son took Phoebe from me. I'm not gonna let him take her sister, too. I won't. (Engine revs, tires squeal)
Jackie: (Sighs) Well, do I know talent, or do I know talent?
Nick: Before your head swells any more, let me remind you of two words...
Nick: Clarke Garrison.
Jackie: Oh! You are such a party pooper. You know very well that I inherited Clarke from Sally, but Bridget, on the other hand, well, she just gets better and better, doesn't she?
Nick: You sound like the president of her fan club.
Jackie: I am. (Laughs) That girl is one-of-a-kind.
Jackie: Of course, I shouldn't have to tell you that, should I? But the road ahead of her is going to get very precarious, especially when Eric and his brood find out that she's come over to the dark side to design. (Laughs) but if I know Bridget, and I do, she'll hold her own.
Nick: Well, let's hope so, Mother, 'cause she's getting an earful right now. Katie has a bit of an issue with Bridget today.
Katie: Let me guess-- Madame X.
Bridget: (Foreign accent) Do I know you?
Katie: Oh, I'm actually, um, a friend of Nick's.
Katie: Well, actually, I'm more than a friend. I'm his fiancée.
Bridget: Oh. Congratulations.
Katie: Thanks. You, too. You know, not every girl can pull off a look like that. That is a wig, right? I mean, 'cause the part's a little crooked, and-- are those prescription?
Katie: Is that why you're wearing them inside? Because it seems like it would be awfully dark when you're trying to sketch. Here, let me help you out.
Katie: Wow. You have an uncanny resemblance to my niece Bridget.
Bridget: (Normal voice) Okay, obviously, Nick spilled the beans.
Katie: Imagine my surprise. My so serious, so dedicated niece decides to put down her scalpel and pick up a design pencil. Are you sure you've thought this through?
Bridget: People change careers every day, Katie.
Katie: As long as that's all there is to it.
Bridget: I have no idea what you mean.
Katie: Oh, well, should I draw you a picture, Madame X? How do you spell that anyway?
Bridget: Spell what?
Katie: "Madame X." I mean, the "X" part-- is it spelled "X" or "ex", as in "ex-wife"?
Bridget: This has nothing to do with Nick, absolutely nothing, if that's what you're implying. I've completely moved on.
Katie: Still, for you to give up medicine--
Bridget: It's not like I can never go back. I actually probably will someday, it's just right now, I'm doing something creative, and I'm getting to express myself in a different way, and I feel alive. I mean, surely, you wouldn't begrudge me that, would you?
Katie: No, no, of course not. I wouldn't begrudge you anything. I mean, especially since... (sighs) you must know that I feel a certain level of guilt about Nick, and I am sorry that I hurt you.
Katie: I know you don't believe that. But I do care about you, Bridget, and if this is what you want, then I'm all for it... as long as this is all it is.
Rick: He's gaining on us.
Steffy: What are you doing?
Rick: I told you, we have to lose him. He's out of his mind.
Steffy: My dad won't hurt us.
Rick: Yeah, he's not gonna hurt you. He would kill me in a heartbeat.
Ridge: He's driving like a maniac.
Brooke: (Sighs) because you're chasing him. Ridge, if you would just pull over. Please, I am begging you. You have to stop now, or something horrible will happen.
Ridge: Oh, Brooke, something horrible has already happened. He's got my little girl, but not for long.
Jackie: Oh, well, perhaps you should go over there and, uh, referee.
Nick: No, thank you.
Jackie: Well, what if Katie lets her jealousy get the better of her, you know? And then she says something, or--or worse, does something that she'll regret?
Nick: Mother, I will let the women deal with this themselves.
Bridget: Wow, to know that you are happy for me-- that's really what I live for.
Katie: Well, I didn't exactly mean it like that.
Bridget: But that was your point, right?
Katie: I was just trying to be supportive.
Bridget: Mm. That probably isn't easy when you're concerned about me working here, or maybe I should say, "worried"?
Katie: That would be your word, not mine.
Bridget: Oh, okay. Right. So then you just rushed right over here to wish me well?
Katie: Yes, exactly, to wish you well.
Bridget: I bet you also wish that I would stay far, far away from Nick, huh?
Katie: Hey, if you say this isn't about Nick, then I believe you, simple as that. I was just thinking about what happens down the road. I mean, you can't keep being Madame X forever. Sooner or later, your family's gonna find out, and they might be a little upset.
Bridget: Why don't you just let me worry about my family, okay?
Katie: Sure thing. It's just that the Forresters have been through so much lately.
Bridget: I would have never taken this job without thinking of how my family might react. And I don't think they're gonna deny me the opportunity to do something creative and new, and I don't think that they're gonna worry about me working at Jackie M. instead of going to the family business.
Katie: Whatever you say. Like I said, I was just trying to be sup--
Bridget: Be supportive. I know. I got that memo. Still, I-I'm wondering if it's really bugging you that I'm working at this particular company so closely with Nick.
Katie: (Laughs) It has been fascinating meeting Madame X. You really surprise me, Bridget. I never would have expected this from you.
Katie: But if this is what you want--
Bridget: It is.
Katie: Okay. Then I hope it all works out, because Nick and Jackie really need a success. There's a lot riding on this. Good luck.
Steffy: Oh, my God! We almost went off the road!
Rick: Whoa! Oh.
Steffy: Please, pull over!
Rick: I told you, I can't. Your father's lost it. He's crazy.
Steffy: Stop my dad-- oh, we'll explain everything. Just please, just please stop the car. (Whispers) Daddy.
Brooke: Ridge, this is dangerous. You are in no condition to be driving. You have to stop this car now. Do you hear me? Stop this car now!
Steffy: (Normal voice) He thinks it's happening again-- what happened to Phoebe. We got to do something!
Rick: I'm trying.
Steffy: No, you're running. We have to face him and just convince him.
Rick: Steffy, you have to listen to me, okay? You are dreaming if you think we can reason with your father now. The best thing we can do, the only thing, is to allow him to cool off. But first, we have to lose him. (Engine revs)
Brooke: Ridge, please, just slow down. This road is full of curves. You'll go off the road if you don't. (Tires squealing)
Rick: Whoa! Your dad almost didn't make that last curve.
Rick: He took it too fast. He almost lost control.
Steffy: No, this is insane. We have to pull over. Rick, pull over this instant! (Tires squealing)
