Ridge: All right, girls, take it down to patterns... (sighs) and I'll see you back here in an hour for the next two. Thank you.

Stephanie: How's it going, honey?

Ridge: Baby steps, Mother.

Stephanie: Yeah.

Ridge: I don't even want to think about all the work I have left to do.

Stephanie: Oh, that's understandable. you have to do a whole new collection. And who's to say that little son of a bitch won't steal it and give it away again?

Ridge: Yeah, well, talk to Dad about that one.

Stephanie: I don't know who needs therapy more-- that boy or your father.

Ridge: What the hell are we gonna do about it? Dad is so insistent. He doesn't even want us thinking about Rick.

Stephanie: Well, since when do I listen to your father and his mandates? (Clipboard slams down)

Stephanie: Rick has to be dealt with.

Ridge: Well, I certainly don't have time right now.

Stephanie: Honey, this is more serious than you realize.

Ridge: Really? What does that mean?

Stephanie: You concentrate on the work. I'll take care of Rick.

Brooke: Stephanie. (Sighs)

Stephanie: (Laughs) Brooke, he's busy.

Brooke: Never too busy for his wife.

Stephanie: That's what I always worry about.

Brooke: I saw the models leaving. That means there's a good hour before they come back up here with those new dresses.

Ridge: And what would that mean?

Brooke: (Laughs) It means it's inspiration time.

Bridget: They're gonna be so glad that they hired me.

(Knock on door)

Bridget: Um, come in.

Steffy: Hey.

Bridget: Steffy.

Steffy: Sorry. I-I know you're busy, but, um, what are you doing?

Bridget: Oh, I'm just-- I'm packing up some stuff. I'm taking a leave of absence.

Steffy: Really? Why? Is something wrong?

Bridget: No. No, I just want a change, do something else for a while.

Steffy: (Laughs)

Bridget: What brings you here?

Steffy: (Sighs)

Bridget: It's Rick, huh?

Steffy: You're the only person I can talk to about this.

Bridget: I better be the only person that knows about this. If anyone else finds out, Steffy, do you have any idea what's gonna--

Steffy: No, they won't. They won't.

Bridget: By the way, I think it was very wise of you to break it off with Rick. I talked to him earlier, and I think he's accepting it.

Steffy: Yeah. Um, I talked to him, too. He isn't accepting it, and neither am I.

Eric: All right. That's it, ladies. Thank you. Downstairs, put two more on. Get back here as soon as you can. Thank you.

Stephanie: Eric, take a break.

Eric: No time.

Stephanie: Well, make time.

Eric: Don't start, Stephanie. I'm too busy.

Stephanie: We have to resolve this issue with Rick.

Eric: Look, if this is about the theft of our collection, we've talked about this.

Stephanie: Eric, if you want to enable your son, that's your problem. But when that enabling impacts on this company, then it becomes my problem. I'm not gonna let him destroy the company or anyone else in the family, and I suspect that's what he wants to do.

Rick: (Groans) (Sighs)

Ridge: (Sighs) Thank you. I needed that.

Brooke: Making any progress?

Ridge: Oh, it's a long road re-creating a new line.

Brooke: What about Nick and Jackie? Any word on how they got those designs?

Ridge: (Sighs) Dad called off the investigation.

Brooke: What? He doesn't want to know who did it?

Ridge: Oh, he knows who it was... at least, I believe he does. He's just covering it up.

Brooke: Why?

Ridge: Because it's Rick. It was your son who sabotaged our company.

Eric: So everything that happens that's wrong in this family is caused by Rick, is that it?

Stephanie: Well, according to you, it's never his fault.

Eric: (Sighs) Oh, God.

Stephanie: You don't-- you don't help him by enabling him, by hugging him and telling him you're loving him and that-- and then you stick your head in the sand. Why can't you see that? Why?

Eric: This is pointless. Look, I have to get to work.

Stephanie: He's got you wrapped right around his little finger. What's it gonna take? Another death in this family?

Eric: Oh, God. That is so cruel.

Stephanie: Maybe. Maybe it is, but what--look what he's done. He's laid all this guilt on you for the way you--you raised him or didn't raise him, and you've fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

Eric: Look, he's a very--

Stephanie: Why won't you see it?

Eric: He's a very troubled young man. Now he needs all the support and love that I can give him.

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Eric: He's not gonna get it from anywhere else. I can see that now. I'm not gonna tolerate any more words against my son. Do you hear me? Now look, I have work to do. I would appreciate you leaving me alone. (Drops clipboard)

Eric: (Sighs)

Rick: (Sighs)

Rick: "I miss you..." (keys clicking)

Rick: "Steffy."

(Key clicks on keyboard)

Rick: (Sighs) There's got to be a way.

(Pump beeping)

Steffy: Bridget, this is real. We love each other.

Bridget: It's not love. Remember, he was involved with your mother not that long ago and your sister, Steffy!

Steffy: You don't think I've been telling myself that over and over? But something happens when I'm with him. (Sighs)

Bridget: I know, sweetheart. It's just a passing attraction and nothing more than that.

Steffy: No, you're wrong. He would do anything for me. I have never felt this way before. If we had a chance, we could make a future.

Bridget: But you're not gonna give yourself that chance. It's just too complicated. Look, it's a no-win situation. I wish it weren't that way, but it is. There's too much baggage, and you've got to cut loose.

Steffy: (Sniffles) (pager beeps)

Bridget: (Whispers) I'm sorry. (Normal voice) I got to go. Um...

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Bridget: I'm sorry, honey.

Steffy: Yeah. (Cell phone rings)

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Steffy: "I miss you, Steffy."

Rick: Stephanie.

Stephanie: Jesús wants you down in the cutting room.

Rick: Why?

Stephanie: A pattern for one of the new designs. You know, we have to do the collection over. Somebody stole it.

Rick: (Fakes laugh) (Sighs)

(Buttons clicking)

Steffy: "I miss you, too, Rick. Meet me at the beach house." Okay.

(E-mail alert sounds)

Stephanie: That son of a bitch is after Steffy.

Brooke: Wait a minute. You think it's Rick who sent those designs to Nick?

Ridge: I'm certain of it, Brooke.

Brooke: Ridge, how can you even suggest it?

Ridge: Because only a handful of people had access.

Brooke: Oh, so you jumped to the conclusion that it was my son.

Ridge: Look, I don't want to argue about this, but if you look at it logically...

Brooke: And where is the logic in Rick, the president of this company, stabbing his father in the back?

Ridge: No logic at all. That's why no one suspected him.

Brooke: So...

Ridge: So you look at everyone else who had access, no one else had the motivation, Brooke.

Brooke: And what motivation did Rick have?

Ridge: Okay, granted, it's a little thin, but when you look at a few things that happened...

Brooke: Like what?

Ridge: For starters, when this whole thing came to light, where was Rick? You, me, Thorne, Felicia, Dad-- we were all right there trying to get to the bottom of it. You would think the president of Forrester Creations would be there helping us. Where was he? Nowhere to be found.

Brooke: You're absolutely right, Ridge. It is thin.

Ridge: Brooke, everyone agreed this was one of the best collections we've released in years, most of it my work. Rick had very little, if anything, to do with it.

Brooke: Oh, so you think Rick is jealous, and he gave the designs to Jackie M.? That is an insult, Ridge.

Ridge: Except for one thing-- when we approached Dad about it, he told us to drop it. He didn't want to get into it at all. Why would he do that unless he was protecting his son?

Brooke: Wait a minute. You said, "when we approached Dad." Who else are you talking about?

Ridge: Mother.

Brooke: Your mother. (Laughs) this is great. It was Stephanie. She's the one who came up with this ridiculous theory, didn't she, Ridge?

Rick: Oh, Stephanie, what the hell are you talking about? They did not need me downstairs. You're wasting my damn time. (Sighs) "I miss you, too, Rick. Meet me at the beach house." Yes! Thank you.

(Presses button)

(Knock on door)

Eric: Come in.

Bridget: Hey, Dad.

Eric: (Laughs) hey. Boy, is it good to see you.

Bridget: (Laughs)

Eric: (Laughs) look at you. Good.

Bridget: Oh.

Eric: Good. Thank you. (Inhales deeply) ahh, thank you. You're really a sight for sore eyes, girl.

Bridget: Daddy, it sounds like somebody didn't have a very good day.

Eric: (Inhales deeply) Just got a lot better.

Bridget: (Laughs)

Eric: What can I do? Can I help you? What's up?

Bridget: Well, I-I was just gonna come over here and let you know about a decision that I've made.

Eric: That--what?

Bridget: I--okay. I am just gonna take a leave of absence from the hospital.

Eric: Why? Is something wrong? Is there anything wrong? Is there--

Bridget: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I am just really ready for a-a change.

Eric: You are? A change?

Bridget: And--and I'm not totally ready to talk about everything yet.

Eric: You're not? Okay. But you're gonna make a big change. Look, I think that's a good thing. It can be, uh, very exciting, so I support you in that. Good.

Bridget: Oh, Daddy, thank you. (Laughs)

Eric: (Laughs)

Bridget: Thank you. I can always rely on you for support.

Eric: Do you--are you-- you really feel that way?

Bridget: Yeah. Why would you ask that?

Eric: No, I mean, do you ever-- do you ever feel that you're playing second fiddle to my family with Stephanie?

Bridget: No!

Eric: To Ridge and Thorne and Felicia?

Bridget: No! No. Is this about Rick?

Eric: Yeah. He's going through a very difficult time right now.

Bridget: I know.

Eric: You do?

Bridget: Yeah. I mean, I-I just don't think he's really being himself lately.

Eric: I think maybe he's headed for some kind of an emotional breakdown.

Bridget: What? You think this is that serious?

Eric: I think he needs our support very badly.

Bridget: I'm there for him, Dad. I'm--I'm always there for him.

Eric: Good. That makes me very happy to know you feel that way.

Bridget: Look, I'll go check on him. I was planning on seeing him anyway. I don't want you worrying about this.

Eric: Okay. Thank you. (Sighs) Oh, God. Thank you.

Bridget: Dad?

Eric: Mm.

Bridget: Look, I'll make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, okay?

Brooke: Stephanie. I should have known. How could you let her influence you like this?

Ridge: Brooke, we're all looking for answers here.

Brooke: No, she's looking for a lynch mob. Please, Ridge, tell me you don't believe that Rick stole those designs.

Ridge: I am long past trying to figure out your son.

Brooke: (Sighs) You promised me.

Ridge: I promised you that I'd try not hating your son, but I guess I've been feeling differently these last few days.

Brooke: Differently how?

Ridge: (Sighs) I look at Dad trying to protect Rick. You're obviously trying to do the same thing. And Rick is completely out of control here, Logan. He needs help. Your son is messed up. I am not the one to help him, but he definitely needs some kind of help here. Brooke, the best I can do is to keep Rick away from me and my family.

Rick: Oh, boy.

Rick: (Sighs) (knock on door)

Steffy: Hi.

Rick: Hey.

Rick: Thanks for... (laughs) thanks for your, uh, answering my--my message.

Steffy: Yeah. Thanks for sending it.

Rick: We should-- we should really be careful, though, you know, with the e-mails and the messages, especially at work, because people--

Steffy: Yeah, yeah. I-I know. I was with Bridget when I got your message.

Rick: You were with Bridget? I mean, she didn't look--

Steffy: No, no, no, no. She didn't see it. No.

Rick: Oh, okay.

Steffy: (Sighs) I just--I needed to talk to her. She's the only one who knows anything.

Rick: Did it help or...

Steffy: Yeah. You know how it is. You know, when you feel like this, you just want to tell everyone.

Rick: (Laughs)

Steffy: But we can't. But I can't stop thinking about you.

Rick: I know. It's--it's like that for me, too.

Steffy: Well, then what are we gonna do?

Rick: (Sighs) well, I know what I want to do. I'm just not sure you're still in that place anymore.

Steffy: You know, um... what you did before with the designs, I, uh...

Rick: Oh, God, that was so crazy. It was crazy. I don't know what I was thinking.

Steffy: No, no, no. It was--it was sweet in a way.

Rick: Steffy, it was psycho. I'm disgusted with myself. I should never have done that.

Steffy: No, no, no. You--you really-- you really wanted us together. I understand.

Rick: Well, that was the point. I would have done just about anything.

Steffy: Well, you don't have to do just about anything anymore. You have me right where you want me.

Rick: (Sighs)

Steffy: I'm in love with you. I'm totally, completely yours.
