Brooke: Hi, honey.
Ridge: I missed you.
Brooke: I missed you, too.
Ridge: What you workin' on?
Brooke: Something very close to my heart.
Ridge: Really? Wedding vows?
Ridge: Let me see.
Brooke: Hey, wait a minute. It's supposed to be a surprise.
Ridge: Oh, come on. Just give me a hint.
Brooke: (Laughs) okay. I, Brooke Logan, vow never to make you sleep on the couch when you're snoring.
Ridge: Oh, my God. You really do love me.
Ridge: You really do love me, Logan.
Brooke: I vow to love you and to honor you, snoring and all.
Brooke: Mm-hmm, yes.
Ridge: How about this-- the part about the, uh, obeying.
Brooke: Oh, that?
Ridge: Yeah, yeah.
Brooke: The--the obey part-- that's gonna be in your vows, because you need to obey my every wish.
Ridge: Even the kinky ones?
Brooke: Mm, especially those.
Brooke: Mm. (Giggles) so... (sighs) how's phoebe?
Ridge: She's good. I'm looking forward to spending some more time with her.
Brooke: She's gonna be here tonight, right?
Brooke: All of our kids are going to be here.
Brooke: Mm-hmm. I talked to Rick, and he said he'll be there for the rehearsal dinner
and tomorrow for our wedding. He understands how important it is for him to support me.
Ridge: Okay, good. I don't really see him welcoming me into the family, though, with open arms.
Brooke: Well, it's a step in the right direction, a show of faith. He's not gonna get in between us, Ridge.
Ridge: Okay. I'm glad.
Brooke: Our wedding's gonna be so perfect, getting married on the beach at Point Dume.
Ridge: It's gonna be as beautiful as it was all those years ago.
Brooke: Everything's turning out exactly the way I had hoped.
Ridge: We've waited a long time for this, haven't we?
Brooke: (Giggles) Yes, we have.
Ridge: I love you.
Brooke: I love you.
Rick: Could you turn for me, please? Hmm. So do you have a boyfriend?
Rick: No? Why not? I mean, look at you. You're--you're too beautiful to be single. You're stunning, actually. (Chuckles)
Woman: Thank you.
Rick: You're welcome. I mean, my God. You're--you're-- you're sexy as hell. (Chuckles)
Woman: Mr. President...
Stephanie: This is fun, isn't it, working together side by side?
Eric: Yes, like old times, I would say. You didn't think I was just gonna let you hang around the house, did you? I need you here working.
Stephanie: Oh, I didn't think about it at all, but it's a family business, and it's nice to be family again.
Eric: You betcha. It really is, isn't it?
Stephanie: Have you thought about the--the surf line?
Eric: Right, Donna and Owen's project?
Stephanie: Yes. Do you know what you're gonna do with it?
Eric: No, I don't.
Eric: I actually, uh, haven't given that much thought at all, but I'm glad you're here.
Phoebe: Special delivery.
Eric: Hey, look who's here.
Stephanie: Ah, Phoebe...
Eric: Is that you?
Stephanie: For gosh sakes.
Eric: Great. Great.
Phoebe: Oh, it's so good to be back.
Stephanie: Hi. Hi, honey.
Eric: Welcome home, honey.
Phoebe: I wanted to come home when you were sick, Granddad. I just--I couldn't bear to see you that way.
Eric: Well, you don't have to, do you? You're here now, and that's all that matters.
Phoebe: Well, it's so good to see you strong and healthy...
Eric: There you go.
Phoebe: And you and grandma together.
Stephanie: So, world traveler, how are you?
Phoebe: Oh, exhausted, but I'm--I'm good.
Eric: You're gonna stay for a while this time, aren't you?
Eric: In fact, give me your passport. Just give it to me.
Eric: No, give it to me now, and I'll--
Phoebe: No, I'm staying put. I-I miss you guys too much when I'm gone.
Stephanie: A lot has changed while you've been gone.
Phoebe: I guess so. What's the deal with president Rick? I mean, I think it's terrible that he had that accident, but it doesn't mean he deserves a promotion that knocks my dad out of presidency.
Stephanie: Well, that's an issue that we'll have to resolve soon.
Eric: Rick is my son, too, and he's been overlooked for far too long. Your father and Rick will settle their differences, and then Ridge will be back here very soon thereafter right where he belongs.
Eric: (Chuckles) I've missed you.
Eric: Oh, good.
Eric: I'm glad you're here.
Ridge: Looks like you're right at home. Took my parking space, too.
Rick: Yeah, it says "president" on it. That means it's mine.
Ridge: Didn't know you were into vintage cars.
Rick: Can I help you with something?
Ridge: Oh, I just heard that you agreed to come to tonight's rehearsal dinner and tomorrow's wedding ceremony. Very big of you. Thank you.
Rick: You're welcome.
Ridge: Now you collect all your junk and get out of my office. I got work to do.
Phoebe: I hope you don't let this Rick being president thing go on for much longer, Granddad.
Eric: I thought you would be happy for Rick.
Phoebe: Why would I be happy for Rick?
Eric: Honey, he hurt you, I know, but he's earned this promotion.
Phoebe: Well, he doesn't deserve it, definitely not over my father.
Stephanie: Well, I agree with you on that, phoebe.
Eric: Uh, your grandmother's not too happy with this decision, either.
Stephanie: Well, honey, it's one thing to try and level the playing field between your two sons, but it's quite another to let Rick manipulate the situation.
Rick: Get out of your office? (Scoffs) I don't think so.
Ridge: Just kidding.
Rick: Just kidding? Oh, no, you're not just kidding. You're just mad that I won this time.
Ridge: It's not a competition, Rick.
Rick: Oh, it is to you, Ridge. To me, it's just trying to protect my mother from the pain that you inflict.
Ridge: Your mother doesn't need protection from me, though.
Rick: (Laughs) Let me get this straight. So you fought me, literally, on my relationship with Phoebe under the guise that you're just trying to protect your daughter, and I'm just trying to protect my mother, yet I'm out of line. Explain to me how that works.
Ridge: It's not the same, Rick.
Rick: What's the difference?
Ridge: Phoebe was a young, innocent kid, and your mother and I have been in love for decades.
Rick: Decades, yes, of pain and misery.
Ridge: Look, Rick, you may not like me, but we both love your mother, right? So for her sake, I'm asking to bury the hatchet. Can you do that?
Brooke: Oh, I was looking for Eric.
Stephanie: He just stepped out for a minute.
Brooke: Actually, I'm glad you're here. (Sighs) I heard you and Eric got back together.
Stephanie: Yeah, I-I figured donna would probably come talk to you right away.
Brooke: She was devastated, Stephanie.
Stephanie: I'm sorry.
Brooke: She loves him. She would have made him very happy.
Stephanie: She didn't.
Brooke: (Sighs) She was good for him, and she was loyal. I honestly don't know why Eric made that decision.
Stephanie: Why do I think that if he'd chosen Donna you wouldn't be questioning his decision?
Brooke: I understand Eric's loyalty to your family. Eric made a decision, and I've made a decision, too. (Sighs) I told you that Ridge and I are going to spend the rest of our lives together. Well, tomorrow, I become a member of your family. I know you would much rather have Ridge with Taylor. This family's gone through a lot of pain this last year-- Eric's coma, all the battles in the company...
Stephanie: And your son's antics.
Brooke: I want there to be peace in the family, and that won't be possible unless you and I learn to coexist.
Stephanie: Well, I don't think it's about us coexisting. It is--it's all this fighting and--and--and bickering between Ridge and Rick. You know, there's going to come a point where you will have to support your new husband over your son.
Brooke: I love Ridge. I do support him, but if you're asking me to categorically commit to siding with Ridge over my son, no, Stephanie, I won't do that.
Phoebe: Oh, it's so good to see you!
Steffy: Oh, my God. I was so excited when I heard you were coming home for the wedding.
Phoebe: Mm. I wish it was for Mom and Dad's wedding.
Steffy: Yeah, trust me, I know, but we gotta support Dad.
Phoebe: Yeah, and be happy for him, you know.
Steffy: Well, at least it was an excuse to get you home.
Steffy: I mean, I missed you so much. You know, when you're away, half of me is gone.
Phoebe: Ugh, the twin thing.
Stephanie: Yeah, I know, right? Remember when we used to talk our own language?
Phoebe: Yeah, no one could understand us.
Steffy: And it always drove Thomas crazy. (Laughs) Have you seen him yet?
Phoebe: Uh, no. I just got back from Forrester.
Steffy: Huh. So what do you think about our new president?
Phoebe: Awful, but I just talked to Granddad. He wants to get Dad back into the company.
Steffy: Yeah, if Rick's there, that's not gonna happen.
Phoebe: (Sighs) Well, thank God Mom didn't marry him.
Phoebe: He's turned into a total jerk. He wasn't like that when I was with him.
Steffy: You have no idea. He's out for revenge, taking Dad's title...
Phoebe: His office.
Steffy: You know, it wasn't Dad who attacked Rick. Rick attacked him. Dad was just defending himself, but, you know, Rick will tell anyone who will listen it was Dad's fault.
Steffy: He's playing everyone. He so doesn't want this wedding to happen, and as much as I want Mom and Dad back together, the stuff he's pulling is sick.
Phoebe: Sick? Like how?
Steffy: Not just with Dad, with me, too.
Rick: So you want to bury the hatchet. Where, in my back?
Ridge: I came to offer an olive branch, Rick.
Rick: (Scoffs) No, thank you.
Ridge: Look, I'm just trying to talk man-to-man here. This is not about being powerful or tough. It's about having wisdom, the ability to forgive.
Rick: Did you take, like, a-a spirituality course in your time off or what?
Ridge: I'm trying to take a leadership role in our relationship, Rick.
Rick: A leadership role? Oh, like a mentor. Thank you, but I'll pass. Maybe one of the kids in the, uh, mail room will take you up on that.
Ridge: Mm. You took my office. You took my job. I could be bitter, but there's a larger, more important issue between us, Rick, and that involves the woman we both love, and how do we keep your mother happy?
Brooke: Of all people, you understand the bond between a mother and a son.
Stephanie: I also understand the bond between a husband and wife, the devotion it requires without any interference by anyone else.
Brooke: My devotion for Rick in no way would diminish my love for Ridge.
Stephanie: It already has come between the two of you, and you're very naive if you think that it's not going to happen again and again.
Brooke: No, Rick is going to support us. He told me he's coming to the wedding. He's gonna put all of his feelings aside.
Stephanie: Oh, for one whole day? Whoa, how fabulous. Then he'll be bashing Ridge all over again. I don't want my son to have any more pain because of your son.
Brooke: You don't think this bothers me, Stephanie? It does. I want peace between those two more than anything.
Stephanie: Well, I don't think that's going to happen as long as Rick stays as the president of the company. He hasn't handled this whole power thing very well, you know. He throws stuff in people's faces all the time.
Stephanie: And you have supported him over Ridge-- over Ridge.
Brooke: Ridge... (sighs) belongs in this company, and I'm gonna make sure that that happens. He deserves to be happy, to know that he's loved and needed, supported, appreciated.
Stephanie: You just said a moment ago that you and Ridge are going to make a commitment to one another to spend the rest of your lives together. What about the vow that you have to take, the one that says you love each other above all others? That has to include Rick, and the way you're talking right now, I just don't think that's gonna happen. Scared me to death.
Phoebe: What did Rick do to you?
Steffy: Um... he kissed me.
Steffy: It--it didn't mean anything. I think he was trying to use me to get to Dad. It just didn't--
Phoebe: Oh, he's such a jerk! I can't believe him. He's so disgusting. How could he do that?
Steffy: Uh, h-he was out for revenge. That's--I told you that, Phoebe.
Phoebe: Yeah, but to kiss you? I mean, to think that he could make moves on you?
Steffy: Ugh. I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have told you.
Phoebe: No, no, no. I-I needed to know. I-I need to know the truth about Rick. I mean, he was my first love, and he's still breaking my heart.
Brooke: Of course I will be the wife that Ridge deserves.
Stephanie: I certainly hope so.
Brooke: We're going to be happy. Rick is not going to get in our way, and neither are you, Stephanie. Look, I don't want to fight you, and I definitely don't need your approval. I simply want to make your son really happy, but, you know... (sighs) Ridge and I would appreciate it if you supported us. We're having the wedding on the beach. It's gonna be truly magnificent. We're gonna say vows to each other like we did the first time.
Stephanie: Well, I assume your sisters are gonna be there.
Brooke: Donna's not going to be there. She doesn't want to face Eric. She thinks it's gonna be too painful. Will you be there?
Stephanie: (Sighs) Okay, I'll be there.
Brooke: Okay, really? (Giggles) Oh, oh, well, that's great. Thank you. Thank you.
Ridge: Your mother is going to have her day tomorrow. You have your doubts about my commitment, but I am very committed to your mother.
Rick: So you say.
Ridge: I asked our father to be my best man. Nothing would make our father happier or your mother happier than if you stood up there with me while your mother and I said our vows.
Rick: (Scoffs) What? (Laughs) you--you can't possibly be asking me to be your best man.
Ridge: That is exactly what I'm asking you.
Rick: You have got to be kidding me. You--
Ridge: No, Rick, I'm not kidding at all.
Rick: Then you're out of your damn mind.
Ridge: The wedding's gonna be tomorrow in Malibu, the way it was many years ago.
Ridge: You were probably too young to remember it, but I remember it very well, feeling... the scent of the waves, the sound of the ocean. I remember the sun setting and the way it illuminated your mother's face. She wore flowers in her hair. She rode down on a horse with her gown billowing behind her in the wind. She was the most beautiful vision I'd ever seen, and tomorrow, we're gonna do it exactly the same. There are artisans down there right now building a sand castle even grander than it was last time. Trumpets are gonna sound when your mother rides down off that cliff. Imagine it, Rick, imagine being able to do something fantastic for this amazing woman that we both love. You know how her eyes sparkle, how it gets that glow in them? It's when she's happy. We now have an opportunity to give her a gift that she's gonna take with her for the rest of her life. How often do you get opportunities like that, hmm? I can't do it without you, and you can't do it without me. I say let's grab onto this fantastic opportunity to give this woman that we both love something she will always, always remember. So what do you say, Rick? Are you with me here? Can you stand up with your mother and me and be my best man?
