Katie: Mmm. (Laughs) (laughs) You're not asleep.

Nick: This is what I call a good morning.

Katie: (Laughs) mmm.

Brooke: You are the most incredible man.

Ridge: So you've been saying.

Brooke: All morning, every way I can.

Ridge: Don't stop now.

Brooke: Mmm. (Sighs) I'm just catching my breath.

Ridge: Did I take it away?

Brooke: (Laughs) Yes, you did, especially last night when you agreed to let Jack live with us.

Ridge: Oh, so that's what this is about.

Brooke: Don't tease. I'm only trying to thank you.

Ridge: You already did.

Brooke: Not enough. I know this was a difficult decision for you.

Ridge: Having you be unhappy would have been harder.

Brooke: This isn't just about me.

Ridge: It is for me.

Ridge: I told you last night.

Brooke: I know. I know. I just... (sighs heavily) I just can't believe it that I'm really going to be a mother to Jack.

Ridge: Now we just have to make it official.

Brooke: Hmm. Talk to Nick. (Exhales)

Ridge: And a lawyer. If we're gonna do this, let's do it right.

Brooke: I don't think we need a lawyer. This was Taylor's idea. She wanted this to happen.

Ridge: Well, then you shouldn't have any problem getting partial custody. If you want to give Jack the love of a parent, then we should have all the rights and responsibilities of a parent. I'm gonna make sure you get that.

Brooke: Uh, did I tell you how incredible you are?

Ridge: Hmm.

Brooke: (Laughs) Did I tell you? (Giggles)

Katie: Mmm. (Sighs)

Nick: Hey? You don't have to be ashamed of that.

Katie: Mm. You always know what I'm thinking, don't you?

Nick: Whenever you're laying down. (Laughs)

Katie: (Laughs) Good. (Chuckles) (sighs)

Nick: It's okay for you to share my bed.

Katie: I hope you don't have any plans for the rest of the day because I could do this for hours.

Nick: Well, as soon as you move in, you'll probably realize you'll be sick of me within a week.

Katie: Move in?

Nick: Yeah.

Katie: You're serious?

Nick: I'm serious. I want you here. I want you, me, Jack and our baby to be here together. That sound good to you?

Katie: Yeah, it sounds good to me. Mm-hmm. Yes, it does.

Ridge: So who do you want to call first?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Marone or the lawyer?

Brooke: The lawyer'll have to make sure that Taylor signs off on everything.

Ridge: Is that gonna be a problem? I thought that's what she wanted.

Brooke: Yes, it is what she wants, but you know, when you get lawyers involved... (sighs) I-I just don't want to freak her out.

Ridge: Okay, we'll make sure that doesn't happen. And what about Marone? You think he's gonna balk?

Brooke: I don't want Nick to be blindsided either. His whole world's just been turn upside down. His marriage to Bridget is ending, and then... (sighs) Taylor wants me to be the mother to Jack. I just think that having a lawyer call him out of the blue-- that's--it's not gonna be good.

Ridge: Okay, okay, fine. Maybe we'll go by his place on the way to the office.

Brooke: Yeah, he's probably gonna be home.

Ridge: He might not be alone. I know we didn't talk about this last night, but Nick and Katie-- what's going on with them?

Brooke: I really don't know what's going on between the two of them. But Katie does spend a lot of her time here. And we just don't talk about it.

Ridge: She's carrying his child.

Brooke: (Sighs) Yeah. That doesn't mean that-- they're being cautious. It's a high-risk pregnancy. That's why they didn't even want to tell Bridget so soon. (Sighs) They don't want to rush into anything.

Ridge: Oh, well, that sounds like Marone, doesn't it? Am I wrong? Look, at least, uh, Jack'll have one female presence in his life he can count on, because all the other women his dad seems to get involved with kind of come and go like the tide.

Brooke: I think you should keep those comments to yourself, unless you want to stir up trouble.

Ridge: Hey, this may not go smoothly no matter what. Nick feels the same way about me as I feel about him. He may not even want me to be part of Jack's life.

Nick: (Chuckles)

Katie: Amazing doesn't begin to describe it-- last night, this morning.

Beth: Well, it must have been because your feet haven't touched the ground since you got our of your car.

Katie: (Laughs) Um, are Brooke and Ridge here, because we probably shouldn't get into this if they are.

Beth: Oh, no, they went to the office, and I just dropped the kids off at school.

Katie: So we're alone?

Beth: Yes, but for your mother's sake, please let's keep the conversation "G"-rated, okay? No details, please.

Katie: Mother!

Beth: Well, you know, I am happy to see you so excited, but, you know, you are still my baby, and...

Katie: And you have reservations.

Beth: (Sighs) Honey, are you sure this is what you want?

Katie: Do you think I'm being selfish?

Beth: Is that how it feels?

Katie: It did... at first. I mean, when I thought about what we did to Bridget and how other people would view me. I mean, especially Brooke. I mean, Bridget is her baby. But Bridget seems to be doing okay. I mean, she practically gave Nick and me her blessing.

Beth: Really?

Katie: I wouldn't be moving in with him if she hadn't.

Beth: You're moving in with him?

Katie: Mm-hmm. He asked me this morning. Mom, everything is happening just the way I wanted it to. Please say you're happy for me.

Beth: Oh, sweetheart, I-I want to be, and-- okay, am I the first person that you've told?

Katie: Yes. And I know what you're thinking-- what's Brooke gonna do when she finds out?

Beth: (Sighs)

Brooke: We want to talk to you about Jack.

Nick: Okay.

Ridge: You spoke with Taylor?

Nick: He's my son, Forrester. I know what's going on.

Ridge: Good. Then we're all on the same page.

Nick: Are we?

Brooke: Yes, we are.

Ridge: Taylor's been having a lot of problems bonding with her child. It had to be really difficult for her to admit that and even harder for her to ask Brooke for help.

Nick: She thinks it's the right thing.

Brooke: It is. Well, it could be.

Nick: Mm-hmm. Brooke, there's no question that you would be amazing with that boy, but it's not that simple.

Ridge: Because of me?

Nick: Forrester, you've made your position very clear about Brooke and my son.

Ridge: I had my reservations, Nick. Actually, I still do.

Nick: And what about you? Taylor said you'd be more than happy to step in.

Brooke: I am.

Nick: Okay. So if Brooke's gonna be raising Jack part time, that means that I'd be a permanent fixture if your life, Forrester. You think you can handle that? 'Cause I really don't think so.

Katie: You think Brooke will be upset that I'm moving in with Nick.

Beth: I don't how your sister is going to feel. But I don't think you can just assume she's gonna be thrilled for you because of Bridget. Katie, this may not be something you understand until you have your own child, but there is nothing more painful or more deeply felt than the wounds a mother watches her children suffer. And they stay with you, sweetheart. And that is why I cannot help but wonder that you and Nick might be rushing things a little bit.

Katie: No, I know it seems like that, Mom, but I-I--Bridget's moving out. I'm moving in. It seems fast. But--

Beth: Fast? You married them, and now you're carrying his baby, and they're getting a divorce, another divorce. I don't think anyone has had time to process anything.

Katie: Nick's not on the rebound. You don't have to worry about that.

Beth: I'm not. I'm worried about you and your sister. I mean, the two of you have been such a support to one another. With everything that you have been through, I w-would absolutely hate for your involvement with Nick to jeopardize your relationship with your sister.

Katie: It won't. Mom, sometimes things work out the way they're supposed to. And that's what's happening right now. Everything's gonna work out the way it's supposed to-- with me, with Nick, with Jack. I mean, I'm gonna spend my life with the man I love. I'm gonna raise his child. I'm going to be a mother to our children. Mother. Can't you see how happy I am?

Ridge: Are you baiting me, Nick?

Nick: No. I just want to make sure that my son isn't being taken from one difficult situation and being thrown into another.

Ridge: You just said living with Brooke would be good for him.

Nick: (Scoffs) Oh, come on, Forrester. You really don't want that to happen.

Brooke: Ridge isn't fighting this. He's agreed to help me raise Jack, make him a part of our family.

Nick: So you're okay with this?

Ridge: Like I said, I have reservations, but I'm not gonna stand between Brooke and her son.

Nick: Okay, what--what does that really mean? That you're just okay with some of it?

Brooke: He agrees with Taylor's decision, and he knows what jack needs.

Nick: Can you give it to him, though, Forrester? Can you step aside and let Brooke and me be parents, let us make decisions for his future?

Ridge: How about can you deal with me being in his life, too?

Nick: What are we talking about, a stepfather?

Ridge: That's exactly what I'd be. And we want it on paper, for Brooke's sake. Shared legal custody. If we're gonna let Jack into our home and our hearts, we want to make sure that nobody's just gonna come along and take him away from us on a whim. Can you deal with that, Marone?

Beth: Honey, I'm not trying to bring you down. I--

Katie: I-I know it's only natural that you'd be worried.

Beth: Yeah, well, that's a mother's job. (Chuckles)

Katie: Hmm. You don't have to be. I'm so happy.

Beth: And I can't tell you how grateful I am for that. Honey, I just want to make sure it's a lasting kind of happiness.

Katie: It will be, for me and for my baby.

Beth: Well, it is a comfort to think that this baby will be raised with its father.

Katie: Nick and I want to give this child the kind of life that-- the kind of life that any child would be lucky to have.

Beth: I know. Neither you or Nick were that fortunate, were you?

Katie: Well, Nick never really knew his father until later on in life, and I never really knew where mine was. But we both had strong, beautiful supportive mothers, and I had my brothers and sisters. And--and this baby will, too. Jack will be his older brother. And I know that there'll be complications. There always are. But--but we will deal with them together. And I can't help but be excited about my future because it's a future that I didn't think I had.

Beth: Oh, honey.

Katie: Storm knew. Storm knew what I had to live for. (Laughs) we are so committed to this baby and to--and to ourselves. I am moving in with the man I love, and I'm gonna have his child. And together, we can begin to raise jack. Everything is working out the way it's supposed to.

Nick: You want me to give Brooke shared legal custody?

Ridge: It's the only way this is gonna work.

Nick: Is that an ultimatum?

Ridge: A stipulation.

Nick: Yours?

Brooke: I want to be Jack's mother in every way that matters.

Nick: Yeah.

Ridge: If Brooke's gonna share in raising Jack, she should have equal power in making decisions for him.

Nick: We'll share that together.

Ridge: What if you disagree about where he's gonna go to school, how he's gonna be disciplined? This can't be a one-way arrangement, Nick. You can't have veto power over Brooke.

Nick: I wouldn't do that.

Ridge: Bottom line is if we're gonna welcome Jack into our home with our children, we have to have legal authority.

Nick: This is your idea, isn't it?

Ridge: Just trying to protect Brooke.

Brooke: And Jack. He's been through so much upheaval lately. Something written, a formal agreement-- it--it's in his best interest, too.

Ridge: I can't let Brooke invest in this relationship if someday you're just gonna pull rank and take him away from her.

Brooke: Is there a problem, Nick?

Nick: Yes. I don't like him throwing his weight around in a situation that doesn't even involve him.

Ridge: Nick, Brooke and I are getting married. Jack is gonna be living in our home with our children. He'll be a member of my family.

Brooke: I thought that's what you wanted-- for Jack to be completely loved and accepted.

Ridge: Well, Logan, obviously not, or he would have agreed by now. This is what I was afraid of and why we had to be careful. Come on, sweetie, let's go.

Nick: Wait a minute.

Nick: You're Jack's mother... (clears thro) and you gave up your place in his life so that Taylor could bond with him. It didn't happen. And now she's asked you to take that place back, because she trusts you and she feels you can do the job.

Nick: And so do I. (Clears throat) so I'll agree to share custody, and I will have my lawyers draw up the papers today.

Brooke: (Sighs) thank you. (Sighs)

Nick: Brooke, I am doing this for you and for Jack.

Brooke: It will be the best for him.

Nick: There's still a lot to figure out. And we are gonna come together and do what's best for this boy. That's the priority, right?

Brooke: Nothing is more important. We're going to give Jack a life filled with love, and there's no greater gift than that for our son. (Sniffles)
